Windows 7 Install Error

I have received error code x80070017 during the installation of Windows 7 RC. This has occurred twice -- once while attempting to install into the fourth partition on my local HD, and the second time attempting to install to the third partition (lower cylinder position). No other explanation is provided.
A search of MSDN for the error code also failed.
HD partition map is:
Partition #  Size  Usage
1              60 GB  WinXP
2              75 GB  Vista
3              90 GB  Windows 7
4              90 GB  Data
Does anyone have any knowledge on this error to share?
Thanks, Jim

Hi,
I am getting CRC check failed error while installing Win XP with SP3..
In my case, I am downloading the ISO file on one computer and then transferring the whole ISO file in a portable storage device.
Then, I take that portable device to my home and copy the ISO file from there into my home computer to burn it to a CD-RW
Can the usage of two different computers, one for downloading the file and another for burning the file, could be the reason for this
Thanks,
Manik

  • Windows 7 install error 0x80300024

Mac Pro with 4 internal hard drives. My primary startup drive (in bay #1) has 10.5 on it.
Wanted to install Windows 7, so needed Snow Leopard's Bootcamp to do that. The fourth hard drive in the machine was new, so wiped that, installed Snow Leopard, then used Boot Camp Assistant to add a partition to that drive for Windows.
Started the Windows 7 install (32 bit). Got to the screen where you choose which volume it will be installing onto, and selected the "BOOTCAMP..." labeled one. Pressed the Next button, which is where I encountered the 0x80300024 error.
That is, it said something like "Windows cannot be installed onto this drive. Error 0x80300024."
Found some posts here on the Apple forums, from The Hatter, advocating removing all the other hard drives when trying a Bootcamp install. The jist of it was, remove all other OS X system drives, or Windows gets confused about its install location. And, while you're at it, might as well pull ALL your other drives before the install for safety (so in my case, that meant the 10.5 system drive from bay #1, plus data drives from bays 2 and 3).
So I did that, re-ran the Boot Camp Assistant in Snow Leopard, having it start with the install. Now the Windows 7 install is going forward.
    THANK YOU to THE HATTER!
It is a shame that nowhere on their support pages does Apple acknowledge install error 0x80300024. They really ought to add that to their Knowledge Base page on Boot Camp/Windows 7. That page is here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986

Also, note that I would have added my comments to one of the threads where The Hatter had given his advice, but they are old enough to be closed for new comments.
Besides, it seems like a good idea to have a thread with the error code (0x80300024) in the subject line.

  • Windows 7 Install error after Recovery

I recently had a HD crash on my SL410.  I received a new hard drive and recovery disks from support.  All appear to install OK until Windows 7 tries to start.  I get to "Setting up for first use " and then get an error message that says the install did not work correctly and I need to start over.  Requested new disks from support but had the same error.  Any ideas on what is wrong?

performing clean windows installation may solve your issue.
also, when you see lenovo logo, press f8 , then select "las good configuration" or "fix start-up issue" from the menu.

  • Another Windows 7 Install Error

    Here's what I've got:
    Bootcamp 5.0
    Mac Mini w/ 2 500gb drives
    Mountain Lion, and Lion Server
    Windows 7, Home Premium
Last night I went through maybe 10 progressive attempts at an install of Windows 7. First the screen went dark, I found solutions to that, so I was eventually able to get the Windows install to start. When I get to where I select the partition, I pick the bootcamp one, and format it. I know it formats to NTFS because when I reboot to OSX I can see it's NTFS.
The problem is, that I can't go beyond this point. I get an error that I can't install on that drive... (I'm at work, and I don't have the exact error text, but if it's necessary I can pull it up tonight). Has anyone ever had an error at this point? What have you done to fix it?
    Thank you!!

Remove the second drive while installing. Read the Boot Camp Help files http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/.

    Hello
I was unable to find the drivers searching with your product and model number as well.
I was able to keep searching and found this link and it was under our business site support. This is the drivers for your unit series and you should be able to download the fingerprint reader drivers from the link.
Let me know if this helps.

IS there a jumper or something I am missing on the Hard drive? I didn't see any.
Is their a non-raid Sata driver I need to load?

    Is this 32bit or 64bit Windows 7?
Is the SATA controller set to IDE, AHCI or RAID in BIOS?
If set to AHCI/RAID, you need to click on 'Load Driver' at the disk selection screen, and load the relevant ATI SB RAID driver from here:

  • G710 Windows 7 Pro x64 Bluetooth + Wireless driver install errors (can't install)

    Hi all,
I've recently just purchased the G710 i3 model as a birthday gift for my dad. It originally came with Windows 8 installed but my father prefers Windows 7 so I've installed this on a SSD (replacing the 1TB drive).
After updating Windows 7 Professional x64 with updates via ethernet I started to install all the drivers in the following order:
note: downloaded x64 drivers (for obvious reasons)
    chipset
graphics (intel hd4600 first followed by nvidia gt 720m)
    NIC LAN
    Audio
Bluetooth and Wireless (won't work - see below for errors)
    Touchpad
    Card Reader
    Webcam
    Intel Management Engine (ME)
Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (RST)
BatteryCare (replacing the Lenovo Energy Management)
I've downloaded all from the Lenovo web site except up to date Chipset, ME and RST from Intel.
All drivers except for the Bluetooth and Wireless have installed fine. All Fn keys work except for the "Airplane Mode" (guessing due to the driver not being installed).
These are the following errors I get:
    http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt265/aniceguy85/forums_keep/x64_error01.png~original
after clicking on OK ... I get the following
    http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt265/aniceguy85/forums_keep/x64_error02.png~original
after clicking on OK ... there is another message displayed in the CMD window directly underneath the 1st one which is exactly the same text. Both windows then immediately close.
I tried the 32 bit version of the driver and got exactly the same result.
Can this be fixed so it can work? I'm hoping it's not just me.
Thanks for any help in advance, Pete

    hi pete_agreatguy,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
The extraction maybe looking at a missing folder.
    When you downloaded the driver
WLAN and Bluetooth Driver (Intel, Broadcom, Qualcomm) for 64-bit Windows
When you doubleclick it it should pop up a winodw where you hit next , agree then it shows a page where you can see a box with a browse button. can you share if you are getting that?

iTunes 10.6.0.40 will not open on Windows 7, no error messages come up. Have tried un-installing it and re-installing it many times. Please help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If the advice above doesn't resolve things you could try this alternate version:
    iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
which is a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of the core application, similar to previous 64-bit releases.
Or roll back to the previous build:
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)

  • 'Windows cannot install required files' error while installing Vista SP1

I'm installing Vista Client SP1 on my Macbook pro and getting the following error:
Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation.
Almost exactly as described in this KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930984/ except my error code is 0x80070017. I'm double-checked CRC on my dvd to ensure it's not corrupt. Also I've previously successfully installed Vista SP1 from the SAME DVD on a different Mac Leopard (desktop)
Any ideas? This is a new Macbook pro, just got it yesterday. Could be DVD drive issue?
    Thanks!

Did you get far enough to delete the FAT partition BootCamp created, so you could create a new NTFS one?

  • Install error #1620 PrPro Windows Vista Home Premium

Install error 1620  when attempting to install CS4 "This installation package could not be opened"  (for each component of the software package).   Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Intel i7 processor.   Unable to install any components of PrPro.  This is after a clean install of Vista Home Premium (part number x12-24171-01)with discs provided by microsoft.

I would never install a new OS over the top of what is there... wipe/format the hard drive and install fresh
Also, if you have a 64bit computer with more than 4Gig of ram, think about the 64bit version of Win7
CS4 can't use more than about 3Gig of ram, but if the OS can use more to run better... that is what I would do
Just be aware that you should still run CS4 in WinXP compatibility mode, as I posted before
Also read the article below... I have NOT done this, but it seems to be an easy process
