Windows 7 install failure - hardware configure problem

Installing windows 7 64-bit using boot camp onto newly formatted drive giving it a 200gb partition in drive bay 1. Gets through most of the windows setup install then says:
'windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware'
and shuts down. Tried booting from the windows install disc and repairing the install but nothing works to fix it.

Thanks for the advice. I reinstalled Lion from TM back onto the main 1TB drive in bay 1, removed the other three drives. There were no external drives or anything external apart from my new apple kbd and non-wireless mouse. Tried the install again. Same thing, it gets through to 'Completing install, screen changes to finer resolution to match my cinema display 1920x1200 and then the same message comes up again.
'windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware' and shuts down.
My graphics card is an old ATI Radeon HD 2600 with 256mb ram but i checked that it would work with windows 64 bit on the MS compatibility site.
I have two other pci firewire cards in the macpro as well both this type:
  Type:
IEEE 1394 Open HCI
  Driver Installed:
Yes
  MSI:
No
  Bus:
PCI
Did the windows install from a dvd-rom i made with disk utility from the 64-bit Win 7 iso image - complete windows install, not an upgrade
This is so frustrating.

  • Hardware Configuration Problem

I've installed Windows XP partitioned on my other macs, but I'm having problems on my Mac Pro. Can anyone help with a solution, please? I have a four hard disc set up on my mac pro. The first disc is the one partitioned with my 10.6 boot on the same disc.
Using Boot Camp with Snow Leopard installed, all goes well after partitioning. It installs Windows Xp from the disc, yet when it restarts, I get a black screen with a message as follows:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disc hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disc. Check boot path and disk hardware.
    Please check windows documentation...."
As I wrote above, as it restarts ready to load xp, it come up with the message above. And of-course, I cannot load the rest of the drivers from the 10.6 install disc.
    Help, please.

I still haven't been able to install but thanks for folks advice.
    Anyone else?
I have a internal four hard drive set up. The mac OS and Windows Bootcamp is set up on Hard Drive 1, whilst the other three are stiped with data, completely separate from the apps and windows.
The windows has to be set up on Hard Drive 1, the same disc as my mac boot drive. Using Boot Camp, it is not possible to set up xp/bootcamp on another hard drive other than an internal one.

  • Windows install failure

    Hello
    Im on a Imac 27" 3.5Ghz i7 with 1TB Fusiondrive.
Im trying to install Windows with bootcamp but after restart  of partition and d/l of the windows latest windows 7 stuff it fails to install
Says that the partition is in wrong format.
Windows cant install on gpt is one error to.
Tried everything  been following alot of guides on youtube  and the manual to bootcamp.
But i see this is a pretty common failure, sadly i need windows  also for a few programs i´ve got Parallels but not all of them are working on that...
    Any suggestions ?
    Any help is apriciated!
    Thanks alot
    Steven

I was able to install Windows 7 Home on my 1TB Fusion Drive.  I do remember running into a problem or two though.  You might want to ask TekServe how they're going about it.  Are they creating a Windows boot disk on a USB Flash drive or trying to do it from a USB CD drive?  I'm not sure if it absolutely has to be done one way or another.  I did it with a USB flash drive, but I got errors at first until I unplugged all of the USB devices attached to the computer except for the USB boot drive.

  • Launch failure: Audio configuration problem

Just downloaded newest version of iTunes and get the following error message-
'ITunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration'
    will not then launch.
Grateful for any suggestions. HAve checked and audio settings do not look unusual plus can use Realplayer without any problems.
    Thanks

This is usually a Quicktime problem rather than iTunes.

  • K8N Neo4-FI Windows install problems (S-Ata problems)

    Hi
Last week I "upgraded" my computer from Nforce3 (Radeon 9800 Pro) to Nforce4 (Radeon X800GTO) and when I did setup everything the platinum screen just hang but after removing all usb devices and tried to plug one after one in to the computer I located the problem the motherboard didnt like my keyboard so I changed it and I was able to boot, but then another problem came, I cant install windows XP at all, after booting with the cd this white text "checking something computer configuration" and then everything gets black and nothing more happens,
I tried to change memory from (Corsair 3200XL to some other) and still the same problem, did also try to unplug the hdd, floppy and also tried to change the Graphic card from X800GTO to X600 but still no luck.
What can be wrong, I managed to install windows 2003 sever but I really hate when something doesnt work, doesnt feel ok
    EDIT:
    I have a 3200+ Winchester cpu, 1024 Corsair 3200XL mem and Tagan 430W psu and Connect3d X800 GTO Graphic
    EDIT2:
I have now located the problem to my S-ata discs, when I unplug them the install starts but when I plug them back I get the same problem, Im not running raid

I suggested what I did because the black screen on Windows install is a common problem when RAID is set to enabled on a NON-RAID array.
One other possibility: ke84 are you installing Windows XP? - and what version is it?  If it is pre-SP1 it may have trouble understanding what SATA is.  If it is SP1 or later is should work fine without installation of any extra drivers, so long as RAID is set to DISABLED.
I would still try installng on a single disk, connected to SATA-1 on the mainboard, before considering the above problem.  If one disk doesn't work, try the other.

  • Bootcamp / Windows Install

    Hello,
its the 3rd Time i try to install Bootcamp and windows, everything runs fine,
windows finishes the installation, while restarting i remove the XP Installation CD and
let windows restart after about 3 Minutes while its trying to start windows, i get this message:
Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference Manuals for aditional Information!
Any ideas whats up with this? I tried 3 restarts all the same error!
Thank you so much for any help!

I am trying to install windows xp on my Macbook (Leopard OS). When I try I keep getting this message:
" The disk cannot be partioned because some files cannot be moved. Back up the disk and use disk utility to format it as a single mac os extended journaled format volume. Restore your infomration to the disk and try using boot camp assistant again"
I have gone to the disk utility function and says all the system is fine. I have backed-up all my files, but not keen on formatting the disc.
So my question is: is anyones else having the same problem? If so, how did you fix it?

If you have a PPC Mac, you can't install Windows unless you are using something like Parallels or a virtual application.  If you are using Boot Camp, eject the disc, reboot and try again.

    Hi David,
Thanks for getting back to me.  One question, Do I need to install CMS seperately or the does
         the BusinessObjects installs it?
When I did the BusinessObjects install it installed the Microsoft SQL server 2008 Express and created an
SQL Server Instance named BOE140.  I checked with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (which I downloaded from Microsoft) and saw that no tables were created.
         Regarding the message
"(.\crypto.cpp:199). (FALSE : digest exception: The FIPS140 shared library could not be found (10027))."
listed in the log file above,  what is my system missing.
Looks like CMS is not getting installed.
I am doing the install on a VMware Windows 2008 system with 8 GB ram and 50 GB file space.
Are there any special requirements of configuration on the Windows system?
         Thanks for your help,
         Arvind

  • Audio Configuration problem detected after install

During the download of the new ITunes version I had a major power failure. I went back and completed the download and after the installation I got an error message that ITunes could not be opened due to an audio configuration problem detected. I went to the Apple site and downloaded a new version from scratch and after the install I got the same audio error. Any Suggestions?

  • Windows setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware.

Just over a month ago, I purchased 6 identical Lenovo B5400 laptop computers for a small charity. Each is preconfigured with Windows 7 Professional, with a Win 7 recovery partition, and is supplied with a set of Windows 8 Pro recovery media (the charity
requires Windows 7 installed). I unpacked three laptops, configuring the first one as required by the charity, and using the second and third to experiment with the sysprep / imagex process before applying it to the configured system for migration to the other
laptops. After securing the second and third laptops by taking image backups, I applied sufficient configuration to the second to test the process, then sysprep'd it, and imagex'd it to a network drive, and to a USB stick. So far so good. After using imagex
to apply the custom .wim file to the third laptop, I found it booted up through the "updating registry settings", "starting services", and "installing devices" phases, but when it got to "applying system settings", it
displayed a messagebox titled "Install Windows", with the message "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer's hardware".  In the last few days, I have explored all the other incidences of problems with similar
symptoms found by a google search, including those on this forum, and tried numerous experiments without getting any further (in most cases not even getting as far)". The sysprep'd image on the second laptop boots ok, going through the same phases up
to "applying system settings", then reboots normally, requests username and PC name, etc, the only defect being that it loses the Realtek display driver (which only takes 2 minutes to restore). I have tried imagex /apply to put the custom .wim file
back on the same laptop it was taken off (the second laptop), and it works exactly the same as it did for the same system immediately after sysprep'ing. The only difference between laptops 2 and 3 is a serial number (QB07523967, and QB07524012). Is there any
reason that this should not work? If it will not, I'm faced with about 100 hours to configure the 6 laptops individually to the charity's requirement.

    Hi,
This issue can be caused by hard disk settings in bios or DVD drive or bad SATA cable. Please try those steps below:
Upgrade the BIOS to the latest version; go into the BIOS and activate "Load Fail-Safe Defaults".
If you connect the SATA drives, please set the SATA controller to compatible mode in BIOS.

  • WDS "windows setup could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware"

I use WDS on a 2008 R2 server to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit custom images to a variety of devices within our enterprise. This has worked flawlessly for two years. I have three desktop models and three laptop models (all HP) that share
a common .wim image. I PXE boot a desktop and choose the image file to deploy. It deploys like magic - until this past week. HP sent us a replacement drive for warranty repair on one computer and on that one PC I started seeing the "Windows setup
could not configure Windows on this computer's hardware" message after deploying Windows 7. The image deploys just fine, the computer reboots just fine, services are set up, all devices are detected. As soon as "Setup is installing devices" hits
100% and the "Setup is applying system settings" phase begins, that message appears. After researching the error and pulling the logs that Microsoft's KB 2466753 describes, it seemed that my problem was related to an "Advanced Format"
disk in that new computer. What I don't get is that they state that this problem was resolved in SP1 (which is what I'm deploying!). So, I started downloading storage drivers to my boot image thinking that maybe a newer driver would fix things. Eventually
(many drivers later), I got the new hard drive to successfully take my Windows 7 image. Here's where it all went to pieces. No sooner had I corrected the problem on that ONE machine, that none of my other machines would successfully re-image. After
2 years of flawless operation, now all my computer models exhibit this same error (except the one with the new replacement drive). After recreating my boot image in WDS (being sure to pull it from a Win 7 SP1 DVD) and adding every driver in WDS practically,
I've gotten all but one particular model to successfully image. No matter what drivers I add (keep in mind, that no drivers have been removed
from WDS during any of this process), the HP z210 desktops I use will not accept the image. Microsoft suggests flipping BIOS settings but why the heck would I want to do that on every machine when their BIOS settings have never been a problem
before this? They also say I should only need to download special Intel drivers if my disks are set up with RAID - which they are not. Anyway, as a test, I inserted a standard Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 64-bit DVD (same one I used to extract my boot.wim)
and installed Windows on that model with no trouble at all. I only get this error when deploying through WDS. I'm at my wits end and would appreciate any and all help at this point.  Thank you!

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, the current situation is all other computers deployment is fine but z210 desktops.
If so, it seems like you have the incorrect driver in WDS for that particular computer z210 desktops you used.
I suggest install it from WDS without driver for test.
In addition, you can post this issue in
Setup Deployment to check the WDS setting issue.
