Windows 7 Laptop Shuts down router when using HomeGroup

I just installed Windows 7 over the weekend on all my PCs (two desktops, one laptop).  When I bootup the laptop and connect wirelessly, all connectivity ceases (wired and wireless).  When I turn the laptop off, connectivity is restored.
Windows 7 has a new feature called "HomeGroups".  HomeGroups uses IPv6.  If I disable HomeGroups on the laptop (turned the Services off that run HomeGroups) then I no longer have connectivity issues.
Could the router be the issue?  I have a WRT110.
Thank you.

Router has nothing to do with the operating system. The function of the router is to provide the ip address and the internet connection.Homegroup is basically for the file sharing purpose and all the computers should have Windows7 and homegroup enable to use it.Are you getting any error message when you are using the HomeGroup..?
Windows 7 and HomeGroups use IPv6. Does the WRT110 support IPv6?
I don't get an error message because HomeGroup is completely shutting down the router.  As soon as I turned off HomeGroup (the services that are responsible for HomeGroup) the problem goes away.

  • My laptop shuts down immediately when i unplug the charger

Okay so I got my macbook air laptop about six months ago, so it's relatively new. About a month ago the harddrive inside failed and i took it to the aple store and they replaced the harddrive free of charge since i was still under the year warranty. I lost all my data since i didn't back it up but it worked normally after that. Now, about a month later, I'm having this charging problem. My computer charges very very slowly when its plugged in (i think it charged about 7 percent over like 15 hours), and the second i unplug the charger, the computer shuts down. I tried looking around the internet for solutions and some people with the same problem say they have like a red or black x where the battery is, but nothing looks out of the ordinary on mine except for the fact that it charges so slowly. In all the time that I've had and used it it's only gone fully dead and shut off by itself a few times (what i mean is that, i almost never let it go completely uncharged, when it was low on battery i charged it instead of letting it die). Also, when i unplug the charger, right before my laptop shuts down, i can see that the battery percentage without the cord plugged in is 0 percent even though that makes no sense because when the charger is in it says 85 percent. The only thing i can think of that I've been doing differently on my computer recently is that two days ago i couldn't find the wall piece for my iphone charger so i charged it via the usb port in my computer a few times. I didn't think this would affect my computer though? This could be totally unrelated, but it's the only thing i can think of that's different than usual. Also, the computer works totally fine when the charger is plugged in. I've had this problem for a few days now and i think it's getting worse. When it first started, the computer would only shut down a few minutes after i unplugged the charger, but now it shuts down within seconds of the charger coming out. I'm very hesitant to open the computer up because I'm not the best with computers and I'm afraid I might mess something up inside. If it really is a problem with the battery and it has to be replaced, I guess that's okay because I'm still under warranty, but I'd prefer if i could fix this on my own. Thankyou so much for your help and all answers are appreciated

Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

  • Imac safari browser shuts down automatically when using Flashplayer. Any fix ?

safari shuts down automatically in combo with FlashPlayer.  Any fix ?

You may have a Safari add on installed that's not compatible with Flash. A crash report may reveal what's going on...
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Make sure and include the "binary images" section.
BEFORE you post a crash report, reinstall Safari 5.0.6 for Leopard
Retart your Mac, try Safari. If it still crashes, then post the report in your reply.

  • G5 Dual @ GHz Shuts down completely when using Compresor 2

Has anyone else encountered this? I was having this problem with Compressor 1.2 in Panther, and I thought upgrading to Tiger and Compressor 2 had solved it, but it has come back.
when I process a particularly intense video file to MPEG-2, no matter how I do it (from within FCP, QuickTime or Compressor) the system will do a hard shutdown.
Not a crash, but an actual power down.
Apple reps looked at this before, but could not replicate it. I never encountered this until Compressor came out.

Maybe your box is overheating. You could try (1) lowering the compression job priority in case OS X has trouble running it's fan control timely when there's compression to do, (2) altering the cpu performance settings from energy saver preferences, (3) putting your box into fridge or removing the warm blanket around it

  • [Solved] Loud pop noise, then laptop shuts down

So, I heard a loud "pop" noise like what happens when the power goes out, my laptop shut down. When I turned it back on, it didn't show that it was charging. So, I plugged in another power supply, when I used another one, it showed that it was charging. So, did my power supply go bad, and will msi replace it?

I agree with this one. If AC adapter is from them too just like the laptop (some don't provide AC adapter mostly on used one) then they should replace it. It will be considered a factory defect.
    Quote from: Svnyster;109620
Sounds like it may be a blown capacitor. As long as you're still under warranty, MSI should replace the failed AC adapter. I'd say to just contact their support and see what they say.

  • Laptop shut down after plug ac adapter

    OS:  Vista Home Premium 32-bit
In 2009 my laptop shut down.  When I turned back on I had black screen, all lights were on except the mute button wireless signal was amber instead of blue.
Recently I sent it to my friend and fixed the previous problem, but now I am having another problem of computer shutting down whenever I connect to AC adapter, that means I can not install anything that needs power originating from AC adapter.

After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPhone will turn off after a sync but the iPad will not. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Other pc's normally just require password to return to previous state. I would like to know how to amend this, pls?

    Hallo
I understand what happen but you dont offer any relevant info for better understanding.
Do you use original OS that you got with your notebook?
Have you installed some additional software that can be reason for this unexpected shutdown?
Is your notebook on AC power supply when this happen?
Does some application runs when this happen (download)?
    > Other pc's normally just require password to return to previous state. I would like to know how to amend this, pls?
I dont understand what do you mean with this. Which password and which previous state?
What you see on your notebook is normal for unexpected shutdown.

  • After using PC Suite, windows won't shut down

    Hi,
    I'm using bootcamp on a Mac(laptop),
    running Win XP, SP2
    PC Suite 6.84.10.3
    Nokia 6288
I connect to the internet via bluetooth and everything works fine until I diconnect. Most of the time when I click disconnect(and every time when I ttake the phone away till the signal disconnects), it won't connect again. Infact, it actually no longer searches for devices, will not detect the phone any more when I go through the "Get Connected" process.
What's really annoying me is that windows will not shut down. It hangs on a blank blue screen after shutting everything else down. It also will no longer sleep or hibernate.
I feel that its running something heavy in the backgrownd as my laptop gets quite hot after a while.
This is a major problem not as its so damn annoying, but cousing Windows to crash constantly and hard rebooting windows couses damage and ongoing problems with windows. We know this operating system has plenty enough problems as it is.
Any help with this issue would be massively appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kia

it sounds to me that the driver for the bluetooth radio is failing on you.
to prevent the computer from going to sleep, etc, the driver must be stuck in a wait state without a timer providing failure detection. you may want to send a bug report to someone (i imagine that would be apple, but i dont know - it's certainly not nokia, and beyond the scope of what microsoft ships with windows).
on my powerbook i sometimes have a similar issue as you have described (in macosx, not windows, since i dont have an intel chip). when i have this problem, my bluetooth preferences cannot display my laptop's bluetooth name. perhaps you see this issue too?
in macosx you can turn on/off the bluetooth radio. when i power cycle my bluetooth radio my problems subside. i believe this is due to the driver being unloaded (regardless of its failed state) and reloaded again when the hardware is once more available.
i don't know how to turn on/off bluetooth radios in windows. microsoft's bluetooth implementation is notorious. their initial offerings lacked basic features all over the place (microsoft just extended their serial port drivers to tunnel through the bluetooth hardware - so in lala land bluetooth was nothing more than a serial port). i'm sure they've improved it since i lasted played with it, but i don't know that they've added everything that your hardware supports.
maybe try using nokia's macosx software instead, and synchronizing between osx and windows via OS provided tools?
    good luck,
    -jared
    edit:
what i mean to say is, perhaps use Parallels instead of Bootcamp. connect to the internet via macosx and share the internet connection from macosx to your windows apps.Message Edited by bitflung on 16-Oct-200705:03 PM
    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

  • Laptop shuts down when trying to connect

  • Windows 7 shuts down unexpectedly when I close my lid

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional x86, and recently when I close my lid my computer instead of going to sleep, which is what the power setting is set to, it shuts down. When I open my computer, I have to turn my computer on and when Windows loads, I get the 'Windows shut down unexpectedly' window. Has anyone heard of this happening or has had it happen to them or knows how to fix it?

Didn't find anything in the Action Center. But did find similar events that match the times in the Event View that said the following:
'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error
could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power
    unexpectedly.'
They all has the source as being Kernel-Power, Event ID of 41, and Task Category of (63). Searched Microsoft's website and it didn't return any results. Despite this, it hasn't happened since I originally posted this. Hopefully it doesn't start doing it again. Although one thing I remember it saying on the 'Windows has experienced an unexpected shutdown' window was something about a blue screen. But I never saw one. And I don't know what would even cause this to happen cause I never had this problem when I had Windows XP Pro on my Mac.
