Windows 7 - No more overheating

Hello. I recently installed Windows 7 in place of XP on my Boot Camp partition, on my Unibody MacBook Pro.
I've only installed NVidia drivers and Realtek sound drivers. I've gamed on this five times in a row without any overheating issues. This is good! Could never get this to work reliably in XP.
My question is, what else do I really need to install and from where do I obtain it? My primary concern is speed, not perks. I don't really care about the track pad. The volume keys might be nice. I'm not really inclined to stick my OSX disk in and run those drivers, based on my XP experiences. I'd like to pick and choose.
My device manager shows a coprocessor with a yellow ! next to it. Is there a Mobo driver or something I need?
Thanks, Heath

I suggest you first get the "TpFan" utility it will show you the actual temperature of various components on the motherboard.
I had similar problems on a X61 and found out that by using TpFan I could set the fan to manual with max speed which would give me more cooling when I needed it.
You should also ensure you have PowerManager installed and proper settings on CPU and fan, use advanced mode. Note that there are two sets of settings one for battery and one for power connected.
It seems that it is not just CPU load but also disk and graphics load that adds to the heat. Maybe if you try to shut of the Aero interface? I found that TpFan helps me understand what is increasing the heat. In my case for instance I have most problems when using my X61 docked with a large display connected.

using numbers 2.3 how do i split windows to view more than 1 spreadsheet at a time?

    Hi seth,
    Numbers vocabulary:
    Spreadsheets (aka: Document)
    contain one or more Sheets
on each of which may be placed one or more Tables
each of which contains one or more cells
each of which may contain either data or a formula.
Spreadsheets open in separate windows. Depending on the contents of each spreadsheet, and the scale at which you want to see it (and the size of your display), you can view more than one spreadsheet in the same manner as you can view more than one of any kind of document—open two documents in separate windows. Resize the windows to allow both to be viewed at the same time. Place and scale the individual documents to permit viewing the desired part of each
Sheets within the same document cannot be displayed simultaneously. You can make and open a copy of the document, then open and view both copies as described above, but this introduces new opportunities to edit the wrong copy. You could Copy a Table from one part of the document, open Preview and go File > New from Clipboard to create a PDF copy of that table (readable, but not editable), and view the spreadsheet and pdf documents as described above.
Tables can be rearranged, or have rows or columns (or both) hidden to permit simultaneous viewing of selected parts of both.
A Table can have Table > Freeze Header Rows and Table > Freeze Header Columns set to keep these rows/columns visible as the rest of the table is scrolled. Or can have a range of rows (or columns) hidden to allow viewing of rows (columns) adjacent to that range visible on the same screen.
Numbers does not support freezing of rows or columns other than Header rows and Header Columns.
    Regards,
    Barry

After starting Creative Cloud just a white Window appears, no Apps or something else Windows 8.1, more uninstallation and re-install didn't bring a solution. I have had installed Photoshop CC Trial Version, but had to re-boot the system, so I lost the Software. After re-installing the Creative Cloud Desktop appeared just a White window. I tried to delete the file of OOBD in AppData but no reaction. It still appears as a clear window.

  • HP envy 6 - unable to update to Windows 10 because of overheating

Hi, I have tried to run a windows 10 update like 15 time by now. My laptop always switched of at some stage of "copying files" process, and on reboot I see a message that the shutdown was due to overheating up to or over 90 degrees C. My laptop has never shut down because of overheating before, on normal usage (I do not play games) the tempreture of the processor would be from 45 to 56 C. I do regularly clean the vents. Is there any way for me to get the bloody windows 10 update finished on this machine? Thank you in advance.

    Hi there
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel. I understand that your notebook is overheating while trying to install Windows 10. I am happy to help with this. Please post the full product number for your notebook. See the following, if you need help with that information.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
I am not sure why it is suddenly overheating on you if it was working well before, and with the measures you are taking. I includethese pages for your review in case there is something that that you could do that has been missed.
HP Notebook PCs - Reducing heat inside the PC to prevent overheating
HP Notebook PCs - Why Computers Generate Heat I realize this is more of a bandaid. but it may help get through the process when Windows 10 should then manage the heat. It sounds as if during the installation process, the CPU usage is climbing, and the normal software that would manage the heat is not present.

  • Unable to minimize windows or view more than one window

I had a MacBook Pro prior to the MacBook 2015. I never had a problem minimizing windows. I really need to have more than one window open at same time, but I can't seem to do this with MacBook. There usually is a white dot in middle where it was yellow in MacBook Pro to minimize the window. There is an icon with double page symbol I can click in the right corner, but when it shows a thumbnail image of each website on one page instead of minimizing the window when I click on it. Is there something I can click on to minimize the window so more than one window appears at the same time? I do not even see line/arrow appear in corners of window to drag the window to a smaller size.

I do not even see line/arrow appear in corners of window to drag the window to a smaller size.
Just put your cursor on any edge or corner of a window until you see the double arrows then click and hold while you drag to resize. This is no different than it's been for the last 4 years since the introduction of Lion.
There usually is a white dot in middle where it was yellow in MacBook Pro to minimize the window.
The yellow dot will minimize the window to the Dock.

  • When situation causes Firefox cache file to have Windows modified date more recent than the access date?

I'm reviewing a report from a forensic examination of a hard drive from a Windows machine. In that report are Firefox 3.x cache files where the Windows modified date is more recent than both the Windows created date and the Windows accessed date, with the latter two dates the same. For instance, the modified date might be March 23, 2011 at 10:30 am, and the created and accessed dates might be March 17 at 9:50 pm. What actions, by Firefox, a user, or some other program (other than a date-modification tool) would cause this state of affairs? I'm generally familiar with these dates and under what conditions they change, but have found no doc explaining this particular situation...

    In your example,
*the site was originally visited on March 17 at 9:50 pm and the cache entry was created; at that time all three dates should be the same
*the user visited the site again and the information in that cache file was modified on that second visit, March 23, 2011 at 10:30 am
*my experience makes me agree with the first answer in the first link below that accessed timestamp on Windows system is not always accurate; '''''AND''''' accessed timestamp differs for files and folders as defined in the third link below

  • Windows 10 spells more than OS

    There's a wee story coming...
I have been a Microsoft Partner and an IT Pro working on computer issues for people for quite a while (will come back to this).  Have, also, attended many MS seminars and conferences.  We often voiced concerns & complaints regarding that Tech
Support experience, if & when it was needed whilst on-site. Hold that thought...
This is the 4th OS I have beta tested for Microsoft.  Beta means unsupported.  Hold that thought.
There is an effort to convey the idea that the Windows 10 Platform is more, means more, than
just an OS.  Many reckon that relates to technologies, One Core-Many Devices & all that.  There, also, has been an effort to say that , ALSO, part of the equation is a "Changing Microsoft".  Some examples: '1-Touch upgrades
of beta Builds, free in-place upgrade to GA, updates to the Platform into the future not, new OSs and a different complexion to Support & Customer Relations.
I read all the negative, borderline nasty comments in Tech Forums towards & about MS.  And many who don't (or won't) see change in Microsoft...
    Now, the wee story:
Even as a MS Partner getting Tech Support, in the past, has often been challenging, frustrating and depending on this or that, may have a fee.  I wanted to talk w/ MS Tech Support regarding some queries from people in IT Forums and some questions &
issues of my own.  I discussed this w/ a MS colleague @ a recent Cloud seminar.  For some reasons we anticipated there might be a fee for the call.  He kindly gave me a voucher to cover that possibility.
Anyone who thinks MS has not had a revelation and that a change of behavior & attitude into the future has not, ALSO, come along w/ the Windows 10 Platform is in denial...
    I rang the number...
    1. Hold times no longer insanity!
    2. No jungle of options to wade through (phone buttons to push)
    3. People answering w/ whom language is not a problem
    4. Phone connections that are not terrible.
    5. Did not need to use the voucher because it was a "No Charge" call, anyway.
What?  Since when? Not what we expected.
    6. Spoke w/ a Windows 10 Support Tech w/ "The Windows 10 Department".
What?  Since when? On an 'UNSupported'
BETA OS?  Where did I call??? Is this MS Tech Support??  Am I, still, on Earth?  Did you just say Windows 10 Help Desk for an
    unreleased OS?
    7. He's going to take a couple of concerns higher up & PHONE me back about them.  This is previously unheard of and it was HIS offer!
Have been trying to express for about 6+ months there is more worthwhile change coming to the future from Microsoft than just an OS.  The positive differences from the past that accompany the Windows 10 Platform are huge.  It all may touch
different Users in different ways, to differing degrees, some soon, some later.  The perks & benefits will be noticed and appreciated, all in good & due time, maybe overdue time but, better now than never.
    Cheers,

Everything of course will be fixed in the next version, it has always been that way. My first beta was win95, been an OEM system builder an Intel IPD since then, and l believe that you are being profoundly naïve.

  • Windows crashes - No more IRP stack locations

I just installed iTunes 8.0 and after having to "run as Administrator" to get iTunes to work - I then docked my 3G iPhone and within about 10 seconds, I got a windows blue screen with the message - No more IRP stack locations. I tried several things to resolve it, then discovered there was a new windows update that had not yet been installed. I installed it, rebooted the machine - started back up and was able to then dock/sync my iPhone.
Make sure you have ALL of the Windows Vista updates installed to ensure you don't run into this problem.

You can edit your user account to make the machine run like the old windows XP.
Naturally this sidesteps the added security in Vista, but as I install a lot, I'll run the odd risk of infection, most of the attacks thus far anyway, were stealthy from innocent investigations so would have passed security anyway ...
I'm new enough to Vista .... can't tell you how many times I almost put my fist through my new monitor, before I discovered I can tun this bleeding annoyance off ...
Firefox 3 also has recently stopped on of these hijack attacks.

  • Ipod not recognized by windows or itunes+ more

i have a ipod nano and it is recognized by itunes but i recently got a ipod 20gig(scroll wheel). when i plug the new ipod into my computer or my friends computer, it is not recognized by itunes or windows. i have put it in disk mode and then plugged it in but it is recognized by windows for about 5 sec and then it disapears.
i have not been able to use this ipod at all because it has been doing this since i have had it. It is a refurbished ipod so im not sure if that is part of the problem or not.
thanks in advance to anyone that can help
      Windows XP

Recently I used my ipod at work all night, just like normal. After work on the way home, like normal, I plugged it into my aux port on my car's head unit, and plugged it into power. 10 minutes later, in the middle of going over Ortgea Highway(hiway 74 between Orange and Riverside Counties), it just suddenly stopped working. When I plug it into any of my computers at home, nothing happens, it is not recognized or seen. When I plug it into power, it displays either a "sad ipod icon" or a battery with exclamation mark(!) icon. I have brand new power adapters both for the car and home, plus brand new usb cables, thinking that would help. It hasn't and now, since I opened those packages, I am out that $$ and ******. Since I received this unit as payment for electrical services rendered, I have no idea how old it is. Does anyone have any ideas? ([email protected])

  • Clip+ not recognised by Windows 7 any more but charges it?

Hi. Firstly I have never had a problem before but recently when connected to Windows 7 the Clip+ starts charging but Windows does not recognise it. It is shown in Devices. I have tried all the methods of resetting suggested (hold down power button 20 seconds - 2mins some time), holding Power and Menu button and receive message "do you want to remove old firmware press centre button for OK" and I have done that too, still nothing works. As Windows doesn't recognise it I can't remove, reinstall or install new firmware. Tried different USB ports and leads. When starting up with Micro SD Card inserted Clip+ just hangs so I can't use the Clip+ at all now. Help please, thanks. Chris

Maybe you just got a lemon. At this point I'd suggest a replacement or a phonecall with tech support.
    Some other thoughts:
Are your new mp3s properly tagged? Have you gone down the Music options to see if they are visible in Folders?  If there are no tags (or ID3v2.1 tags or, I think, ID3v2.4 tags) then Artist, Album, etc. won't be listed.
You're right about the power-center-menu offering the option to clear the firmware. Had no idea.
I have to wonder if doing that has contributed to your problems, since the firmware is the operating system for the unit, but you've said you were still getting the menus, settings, etc., so there must have been backup firmware on there.
One other thing you might try is a non-Windows 7 computer, preferably XP, which doesn't have a lot of the security obstacles of Vista and WIn7. Put it in MSC, see if it connects, and if miraculously it does, drag over a new firmware, unzipped from this thread using the Manual instructions:

  • At first launch of a fdf file, Windows installer takes more than 30 min

I updated my Acrobat 9 software.  After that, I noticed that at the first launch of a .fdf file, the Windows intaller works for about 30 min (during which time I cannot do anything) before opening the file.  After that, evryting seems normal.  I have Acrobat 9 on several machines (University License) and this happens for each of them.  I have instructed my co-workers to rename the .fdf files as .pdf to avoid this problem, and to only try to open theur first .fdf file when they know they have at least 30 min free...  Why is it so ?  This problem did not occur with previous versions of Acrobat.

Just for the heck of it, I renamed a FDF file to a PDF file and tried to open it, no go. I was able to import a FDF to the original PDF. The install option is a bit of an issue and I am not sure what to say to that. It may be looking for the PDF file on the hard drive and not actually be trying to install Acrobat. I opened a FDF in the same folder as the PDF and it opened right up. Otherwise, I think the location of the PDF has to be encoded in the FDF file. The form name is typically at the end of the FDF file (OPEN in notepad or such to look at the details of the FDF). You will not that it does not start as %PDF, but %FDF.
As I mentioned, Acrobat is likely looking for the original document listed at the end of the FDF file.
