Windows 7 not genuine - ?? after 4 years - sys just updated last night, haven't rebooted yet

I have an HP Pavilion All-In-One PC, Model M 227 - Windows 7, 4 GB Ram
Last night I did system updates after getting a notification there was some ready. I have not restarted my system yet though and now that I've been getting this "Windows 7 is not geniune" large pop-up screen, I'm hesitate to restart my computer as it may "finalize" something I might can get rid of before its implemented. Please let me know if this would be possible?
I have been using this computer for almost 4 years if my memory is correct, and it is running genuine Windows 7 software to my knowledge. Have done all the updates it has asked for over the years and never a problem until now.
Two days ago I did 17 updates to the sytem but last night it was only 1 file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

See if performing the steps at the link below help.

  • Version of Windows 7 not Genuine after recent updates

On 9 Dec 2014, my machine installed windows updates automatically. The next day when I restarted the machine, I received a prompt saying that my version of windows was not genuine. I checked in the control panel system window which said that windows had
been activated. Called support and the walked me through activation, which was done over a year ago, when I first built the machine, and everything seemed fine. Then, today when my wife started up the machine, she received the same prompt. I am running
windows 7 home premium 64-bit, with a single user profile. There is also a new icon on the desktop titled "install downloaded windows 7 64-bit _v2" or something like that. Any ideas?

    Hi Garsimtech,
Normally update should not reactivate windows. If you replaced some important hardware like the motherboard ,hard drive and so on, it will result in reactivating .Sometimes, the malicious program will result in reactivating.
Have you tried to call up suppot again and what is the result ?
If the call support will not solve the issue, please run the tool in the following link and get the diagnostic report, it’s recommended to post the report in our Genuine Advantage forum, members there have more experience in analyzing the activation diagnostic
    report.

  • Windows says not genuine after laptop returned from warranty repair

I sent my laptop off for a power supply repair after it failed. It's now back and seems fine but it says windows is not genuine even after I run the online checker. Any thoughts? Back to toshiba (Again)?

    > Any thoughts?
In my opinion you have two options only:
-install recovery image using recovery disc if you have one
-if you dont have recovery disc order it by Toshiba
Bringing back to Toshiba will not help much I think. I dont think they have recovery discs for all Toshiba notebook models. I presume they have installed OS for testing purposes only.

  • Windows suddenly not genuine after 6 months

    Hello,

In system in control panel it says that my windows is activated and there is a key present there.
    Any ideas guys?
    Cheers

    Hello,
I suspect some sort of error with validating your Windows license; that's not an area I'm very familiar with, but you might want to try posting a message in the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Support Forums and see if one of the experts over there can assist you with identifying the cause of the issue and resolving it.

  • My iphone 5 will not turn on after iOS 7.1.1 update last night

I have tried to push and hold top button & home button at the same time. The phone just seems dead. It was charging all night and shouldn't be a battery problem.

I first tried to update last night when I got home from work. It told me it couldn't update unless I had 50% or more battery life or be pluged in. So I waited until I went to bed and pluged it in to charge overnight (like I always do) and set it to update, figuring by the morning it would be finished. When I woke up this morning it was dead. I've tried plugging it into different chargers (car, work, home) but I get nothing.
I've tried searching the internet for other sites for help, but I haven't come up with anything useful. I was hoping I could get some help here before I went to the Apple store after work.

  • Wifi trouble immediately after installing the 4.1 update last night

I've had flawless operation of my iPod Touch 3rd generation for a long time, including after the 4.0 update. Since updating to 4.1 last night, I've had nothing but continuous Wifi problems. Upon a fresh reboot, the Wifi will work great. Then after not using the iPod for some period of time (can be as short as a few minutes) when I go back to use the iPod, the Wifi no longer works. Wifi remains connected, and the blue Wifi icon glows with a strong signal strength. Once I initiate something that accesses online data, the gray "rotating circle" turns next to the blue Wifi signal icon - and the gray circle turns, turns, and turns some more. There is no data throughput at all. My Wifi at home is fine. While the iPod is in never-never land, I can freely browse the web on my laptop using Wifi. Online speed tests show me getting over 11 MB / sec on my cable modem. I have to go into the Wifi settings and say "forget this network" and then redo the connection. It will work again for a short time. I've done the "forget this network" and then also the reset network settings, but it failed again within an hour. Nothing has changed on my network side. Anyone else having Wifi problems after the 4.1 update last night?

I've been having the same issues for the past week since downloading latest version. My Safari connections have been very erratic especially every evening from around 930-1100 pm the connection becomes even more unpredictable, I have to keep switching my iTouch on and off to regain access then by 11 pm that's it, end of service! And up pops a message that the safari server is no longer responding! I notice the following morning that emails sent around 1030 pm have finally downloaded around 130 am, so this must be around the time the server reactivates. Has someone set up the Safari server on a timer for those using the iTouch? My laptop connections work fine, so it's not my router or ISP connections. This is getting really annoying!

  • HT4437 AirPlay icon is not working on my iPad. Just worked last night.

The icon is not popping up. Currently on wifi network, verified AirPlay receiver is on network, reset wifi router. Tried it for the first time last night and it worked perfectly. Not sure what is wrong. Any ideas?

  • 'Windows is not genuine' after i had HDD re-placed

I recently replaced my hard drive as it had failed, and when it was repaired the windows product key was lost.
I cant find the cd/manual with the key on it ( if that's where it is ) and the product key on the bottom of the laptop HAS RUBBED OFF !! (can't even believe that windows could be so careless when it comes the ink on a sticker)
I need help on getting my product key back or a new one .. but i refuse to pay for one as this is not my mistake !
If anyone could help i would be grateful
    thanks

    Hello
I agree with PauPau. The product key on bottom side belongs to preinstalled Windows version and if you install Windows from Toshiba recovery disk you dont need any product key and Windows is already activated so its ready to use.
If you use a normal Microsoft Windows disk you have to use the key that belongs to this disk. I mean if you buy a Windows disk you get a product key too and you have to use this key.
I would recommend buying a recovery disk from Toshiba because its easier: All drivers and tools are preinstalled and after using this disk your computer is ready to use :)

  • Windows 7 not genuine after clean install with HP disks

    Hello,
I just installed a new HDD on my Probook4540s a few days ago after the original one died.  I do have a backup of everything on an external HDD.   Eventhough I can see my product Key with Speccy, the windows activation window pops up from time to time. One time the activation window said I was registered and good to go.    What do I do next?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Wont boot after update last night *FIXED*

After I installed the latest update last night (3/23/13) my phone just sits at that red looking eye. There's animations like the lightning moving around, but wont actually boot. I've tried soft rebooting and the recovery boot, but still nothing. Looks like I'm going to have to take it back to the store and lose all my information. Absolutely ridiculous!
Well, for some reason I cant reply to threads, so Im updating the solution here.
Took the phone to the store and the Tech Specialist said the reason it was hanging up is because I have my phone encrypted when you shut it off. SO, basically if you have your phone pass worded, you have to factory reset your phone and lose all of your data. And, as an added bonus, you wont be able to access your microSD card either, since it is encrypted! The card thinks your connecting it to a different device, and even after entering your password you still cant access it. Wonderful! The only way for the card to recognize your factory reset phone is to reformat it. Brilliant! *** is wrong with the eggheads at Google??? I was the 5th person to goto the store with this issue, and the store had only been open 30 min. NOTE TO VERIZON! PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL OR OTHER MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR CUSTOMERS REGARDING THIS CLUSTER! This was a huge waste of time, AND data loss!!!!!

        Happy day DMONIC,
I know that it has been a few days since your device has been rebooting. budone gave an excellent recommendation. May I ask have you tried a factory reset yet? I know you may be concerned about your personal info. The great news is that your contacts and calendar entries are safely backed up on your Gmail account. I would suggest verifying that you info is preserved online beofre doing the reset. If you have already resolved this issue or need additional assistance then please advise, just in case more help is needed.
    Thank you...

  • Windows not genuine, after a while.

    Hi,
We are a local pc repair service, and after we reinstall Windows 7 (or Vista, not XP) Windows Activates just fine (trough OEM License, that did come with that PC or notebook)
But after a month or so, Windows will start up and says: This copy of Windows is not genuine.
    So we have to reactivate.
Anyway to prevent this from happening?
    Regards

Hi have had this computer with windows seven for 4 years now and it just now is telling me that I may not have a genuine system. I suspected the problem since I could not download an update from about 3 months ago. Then about 4 weeks ago my system said
it could not find the serial number. Is this a virus? I have seen the price for windows genuine and I want to be sure before I spend money on something that I may not need.

    Dear chong2010,
what you are experiencing is not unheard of, part of the counterfeit protection on the MS OS involves taking note of certain aspects of the Hardware, including the hard drive, so changing the drive is VERY likely to trigger this reaction on part of
    the OS.
All you need to do is to perform the validation process again, as you did when you initially installed the box (or initially used the box, if pre installed by manufacturer), using the same original windows key (you should have it in a label attached to the
box of the computer of in the supporting documentation of the purchase).
You can do this from "control panel" -> 'system security" -> "system" or by typing "
    cscript slmgr.vbs /ato
in the command line (admin privs required in this command line)
    Best Regards / Saludos, Marianok

  • Windows not genuine after factory reset

    Hey guys,
So i have a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6005 that i have owned all 4 years of college. On sunday i restored my computer back to how it was when i bought it by pressing the 0 key on start up. I followed the on screen instructions and wiped everything to start fresh. Everything went smoothly and i was able to do all 200+ windows updates and my computer was working perfectly. Then on tuesday a window pops up saying that my windows is not genuine. I checked my system properties in the control panel and there its says under windows activation at the bottom "Status not available" and "Product ID: Not Available". So i go to the start menu and try to run "Activate Windows" and i recieve an error code 0xC0020012.
I attached a screen shot of the error message as well as my system properties to show the status is not available and no product ID available.
Please can someone help me with this issue.
    Thank you,
    Michael

Any idea why my windows would just deactivate like that?
Maybe you forgot to brush your teeth?

  • Windows not genuine after recovering HDD

HDD died, recovered drive and imaged to new drive.  Now get Windows is not genuine popups.  Contacted Microsoft, activation seems to be intact, they said to contact HP to see why product key is locked.  Tried submitting a ticket to HP, but didn't let me because product is out of service period. How can I get this popup to go away, I don't want to reinstall windows. Saw a post that said to run the Genuine advantage diagnostic tool, here's the results: Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

  • Getting message that Windows 7 not genuine

I bought a Thinkpad X200 at the Lenovo Outlet that was supposed to have Windows 7 installed.  Instead, it had XP and Lenovo had to send me disks for Windows 7.  After working for over a year, I started getting a message "Windows 7 Build 7601. This copy of Windows is not genuine" and "You may be the victim of counterfeiting."  When I try to fix it, it asks for a Product Key.  But you can no longer read the label on the bottom of the laptop.

Most of the X200 machines did not have motherboards that were authorized to have windows 7 installed from OEM disks. It is possible you do not have the right extension segment in the BIOS (SLIC 2.1). Do you still have warranty remaining? If you click start then right click computer and select properties, what does it say?
