Windows 7 not seeing server
I can not see the OS X server on the network with Win7 computers.
It is on the same workgroup but does not show up at all.
By default, the client will indeed attempt a renewal of the IP lease if half of the lease time has passed. but there are many conditions where a new lease is required. Think any situation where the status of the NIC changed. Standby/sleep/hibernation/off,
network cable unplugged, connecting via wireless, nic power mangement,...).
Also note the lease time starts when the clent receives the IP, not when the incident occurs. So there is alrge chance that when having issues with the dhcp server, some clients are about to expire their lease soon and loose connectivity.
You should not rely on a long lease time as an avilability solution for DHCP (only).

WSUS server not seeing Server 2012 machines
We have WSUS 3.2.7600.226 running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 machine, which has been working fine with our wide range of client computers. We recently added our first 4 Server 2012 machines to our domain. Although they show up in browse lists across
the network, WSUS doesn't "see" them at all. They don't show up anywhere in the Computers list, and a search for any of them comes up empty.
If I apply our default GPO to these servers, they are required to use the WSUS as their update server. That causes them to get no updates.
What can I do to make these clients show up? Thanks in advance.Hi,

I did a straight Finder copy of my entire iTunes folder to a FAT drive.
Then, I plugged in the FAT drive to XP. I went to the prefs and I told iTunes where to find the iTunes folder.
So far, so good, except: the songs are not showing in iunes. In fact, it is still using the iTunes folder on the C drive.

Thanks! I opened iTunes holding the shift key and received a special window asking me to choose existing library or create a library...I selected create a library because the existing lib was not available. I then selected create from a folder and then selected the correct folder in the E drive.
So basically what happened is this: iTunes imported all of the music to a new itunes folder on E:; not really a problem since there is room, but still probably not right.
Done! except now I cannot get the iPhone to see the music; can play it, can see the iPhone as normal. Arg.

Connect the iPhone to your computer.
Launch iTunes.
You should see the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window in the source list on the left.

I am not using Vista, so I can't promise that with a 32-bit Vista you will get more than the 2GB you have right now with XP.
From what I heard, I doubt it, although there are rumours that with the SP1 (Service Pack) for Vista you get about 3.2GB.
As said, only with the 64-bit versions of either XP or Vista you will get all the 4GB that you have.
If you want to upgrade from XP to Vista, then you can do that. No need for reinstallation.

Windows 8.1 Not Seeing Ubuntu Server
I have been running a file server with Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 as the OS and Samba 4.1.6 to share the files. I was able to connect to the server and access all of its drives from both my desktop and laptop running Windows 7. I
upgraded my laptop to Windows 8.1 Pro and am now unable to connect to the server or its drives. The server does not show up at all during network discovery.
I am still able to connect to the server and drives from my desktop that is still running Windows 7. I tried connecting via a direct path from my laptop and got error 0x80004005 and Windows cannot access \\Server message. I have verified
that the laptop is on the same workgroup as the server and file sharing is turned on and works for connection to my desktop. Is there a new setting in Windows 8.1 that would block my Ubuntu server?Hi Kylep,

Besides, you can try to reset TCP/IP if you are still faced with the same issue:

Hi there
I just upgrade to 10.8.5 (from snow leopard on an '08 iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 GB memory) and I have a problem with Mail
While during migration there was no problem and it looks like all my massages was transferred (more than 17.000 mails) when I open Mail there is no "Message Viewer" window and if I try to open it from menu "Window" I have the message "Mail quit unexpectedly" (I have report it to Apple).
So I can not see my mails!!
Otherwise everything looks "OK" with Mail. I can see all my accounts in Preferences, I can see other windows like Activity, I can even see the red indicator with he new mails on the Mail icon on the Dock… But I can not quit Mail, only Force quit…

Encoder 3.1 on Windows 7 64bit does not see video card

any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated;
We are running Newtek's VT[5] on a windows machine and have been
very successful running Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1, streaming Live
to a server.
Recently we were upgraded from XP and 32bit to Windows 7 and 64bit;
Now the encoder does NOT see the video, although it recognizes both
the VT video device and VT audio device. My understanding is that
Flash Media Live Encoder 3.1 should run on the operating system
and with Newtek VT[5] (even though the VT capture card is not on Adobe's
official list)

Of course....Adobe wants me to purchase a contract for tier-2 support to answer

Please check the video device settings. If FMLE is able to detect the device it should get the signal and work with that. -
Hi all. We have a SQL Server 2012 installed to a fresh Windows Server 2012 Server. There is a service account domain\rusystem01 created to run SQL services. It is added as a Local administrator on this server.
The issue is that SQL Server does not see any local drives (other than C drive) on the server if we run it from this domain service account (for example, we cannot move any databases to any other drives or setup backup).
It works fine (and other drives ARE available) if SQL Services are started from Network service account or Local service account (which is not recommended by Microsoft). But does not work from domain account.
Any ideas how to fix this?

Apply NTFS ACLs for the folders (and perhaps volumes*) for SQL Server. Use the Per-Service SID, rather than the Service Account for the ACLs so they survive changing the service account.
The per-service SID is "NT Service\MSSQLSERVER" for a default instance and "NT Service\MSSQL$InstanceName" for a named instance.
*Volume ACLs are set in Disk Management.

David, would you please clarify what do you propose? I open D: volume on the Disk management and grant NT Service\MSSQL$DEV account with Full control permissions. Restarted SQL - no effect. Still only C: is visible for SQL.

As per DW's online help, I should see a Database submenu under the windows menu, when I open a php file, but I do not see any such submenu. What am I doing wrong?
The panel you are looking for was removed from the newer versions of DW with no plan to replace them. I'm not sure why they decided not to replace them (I think they're letting 3rd party extension builders be responsible for possible security issues or some such tomfoolery), but the code used in the old ones is about to become problematic with new installations of PHP.
You can get some functionality back by installing a deprecated server behaviors extension, it may already be on your system, depending on your version...

Mac G5 10.4 connecting to Windows Server 2003 finder windows NOT refreshing
We are not seeing finder contents refresh when connecting to Windows 2003 servers. We are running 10.4.5. This was supposedly "fixed" in 10.4 but we haven't seen it work yet. Who do we contact for support on this? I've tried using "Contextual Menu" which didn't work, and also tried "Finder Sync" which also didn't work. The only thing that did work was Path Finder. Path Finder did provide an auto-refresh but I don't like Path Finder and we won't buy it.
Who do we contact at Apple about this? Or does anyone have any experience like this?

Someone told me to write an Applescript like this:

Copy it, open Script Editor and save it as an executable application in your Utilities folder. Now put shortcuts to it in your Dock or your Sidebar or whereever. When you run it, the front most windows in the Finder will be refreshed to its most current state from disk.
I tried it but it doesn't help so much. I have no problem at all when I work with Windows Server 2000.

Network does not see static IP server
what am I missing here? on the router I have assigned static IP for the win2012 server and the rest of the wkst connect to the router via dhcp. now the wksts can not see the server but can see the rest of the network. I can ping the servers IP address
but can not ping the server host name. I put the dns addresses of the server on the wksts but still the wksts can see the server.

in Firefox can not see the Downloads window, in the jump in the boot to be seen - the download speed
Downloaded much and now can not see how to fix it?I hate the new downloads-in-a-tab scheme. This was an unnecessary change in my book (if it aint broke, don't "fix it").
So in order to get it back, I performed the about:config browser.download.useToolkitUI change, but now all I get is a blank download window that pops up every time I download something.
Is there something else that I need to do? I've checked the change and it was saved, but it didn't resolve my issue as much as it just caused me a new issue. -
Just installed Firefox 3.6. Firefox will not start and Firefox safemode does not start either. Using Task manager I do not see if started either. If I create a new profile and start from that window, Firefox starts up. I see no error windows/messages. I do have it listed in my Firewall as an exception program with Permit All. What is happening?
