Apple uses an SMC and EFI to replace the PC's BIOS and thermal sensors that control the fans in Mac OS don't work as well or the same if at all in Windows.
Your fans racing is good, at least they are responding to heat, though I've found even in Mac OS it is better to boost the fans and prevent from getting hot first.
Some games can push even a PC graphics and stress so that even those especially if they have any issue to begin with or marginal can result in sudden death.
RealTemp and Everest Ultimate are good, and then at least one bonus, there are utilities to monitor and even control graphic card in Windows - so you should once you have upgraded the graphic driver, be able to also then kick gpu fan up before you start playing.
In the past Mac owners had to turn to InputRemapper, remap keyboard but also allowed boosting the system fans and was popular on XP and Vista w/ MB/MBP and others (I used it on Mac Pro destkop).
Anything you can do, such as keep the laptop elevated and ventilated, helps, and to get air underneath the bottom of the case.
The Intel Core i7/i5 can get very warm in a nanosecond.

Error 0x80070017 when installing Windows 7 via Boot Camp...
I've been trying hard to research this issue and haven't come across anything that has worked for me.
At work, we have an iMac (Early-2009) that we wish to install Windows 7 on. Previous user has left, so I reinstalled Snow Leopard (10.6) and used Disk Utility from the disc to reformat complete to GUID single partition Mac OS Extended (Journaled), which is pretty standard for Macs. Mac OS X installed and booted just fine. I updated completely to 10.6.8 and all other updates. Only installed Microsoft Office 2011 and Firefox.
So Boot Camp begins...
Found that the early-2009 model doesn't "support" Windows 7 64-bit, so we are fine going with 32-bit. The 32-bit Windows 7 disc has been used to install Windows 7 using Boot Camp on 2 Mac Mini's (one Intel Core Duo, the other one Intel Core 2 Duo) just a few days ago.
Opened Boot Camp Assistant, partitioned the 1TB drive equally, inserted the Windows 7 disc, and clicked Restart.
It boots from the Windows 7 disc, I go through the options, choose the BOOTCAMP partition and format it (I assume Windows 7 is choosing NTFS for me). Click next.
It copies the files instantly, but then "begins" to Expand the files. It remains at 0% for 5-10 minutes (I can hear the Windows 7 DVD spin down and spin up, but mostly spin down). That's when the error hits:
"Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070017"
I click Ok and cancel the install. Restart and boot back into Mac OS X. And here I am.
Important Notes:
I've tried multiple times with a 64-bit disc as well. I will likely go check out another 32-bit disc from our software department, but I know this disc works on other Macs.
This issue occurred a month back as well when we attempted to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp (so before the hard drive and OS were reformatted and reinstalled). I was hoping reformatting and reinstalling the Mac OS X would solve the issue.
The Superdrive appears to be working just fine.
I read somewhere that I need to use repair disk to fix it. Does anyone know if I can repair disk a NTFS partition? Or am I suppose to repair disk the parent drive itself? The place I read it wasn't specific AT ALL and the forum was closed and I couldn't find a way to get a hold of the person. It just said "Repair disk did the trick". People, if you find a solution to your own problem, POST the solution!
Thanks in advance!Yea, I saw that kb article. I verified we have the early 2009 iMac. It's an iMac 9,1 (3.06 24-inch, A1225).
As far as different hardware, I really don't think so, but I'll have to double check with my fellow employees. The specs all match up, but I'll see if anyone remembers having to replace hardware or send it into Apple.
I did think of trying an external DVD drive too, I'll see if I can scrounge one up. I'll post if it works or not.
The employee using the machine knows Windows, but is willing to learn the Mac OS X. Diversify your experiences I always say!
An added note to the Repair Disk "solution". Turns out you can't run Repair Disk on NTFS partitions or the parent hard drive that contains that partition, which makes since. I can only run Repair Disk on the HFS+ partition which did no good. (This is, of course, from booting up using a Mac OS X Install DVD).
Mac_Win, thanks for the suggestions! -
In Windows 7, iTunes gives error message "An iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the phonon then try again."

As made clear in the title:
I'm trying to create a Windows partition using Boot Camp. An error comes up telling me that I need to reformat my current partition(s) into one single partition. However, it's already formatted in the correct format, and is already a single partition.
My computer recently had a kernel panic, which apparently the corruption was in the system and needed to be erased and re-installed. I have a complete back-up using an external hard drive, and I am definitely not willing to do another one of those to reformat a partition that is already singular. I restarted the computer after ejecting my back-up, and after turning off time machine (thinking that boot camp was recognizing it as a secondary partition), however the error still occurs.
Is there any way to get around this?diskutil list:

From my very basic knowledge - it still looks as if there is only one partition (not including the windows 7 CD necessary to install the windows partition). -
Hi!
I've got a new 27" iMac (late 2013), and I was going to install Windows 8.1 (64-bit) to be able to play a few games.
Everything went smoothly (installed normally via Boot Camp Assistant), and after the Windows setup, the Boot Camp drivers needed to be installed. After this, the computer rebooted, but crashed at a blue screen with the error called "kernel_security_check_failure".
It rebooted a few times on its own, but after a few times, I got some options, and I chose to "refresh" the Windows 8 install, meaning it would reset the install while keeping my files (even though I didn't have any, as I never got to use it). This took some time, but it worked, and it booted into W8.
The Boot Camp drivers had been removed though, so I had to reinstall them. After they had reinstalled, the computer rebooted and the same blue screen with the same error hit me.
Something tells me that some of the BC drivers are messing things up. I can't find any information on this elsewhere.
Would it be possible to install only selected drivers, to eventually find out which driver is causing the problem?
All help is greatly appreciated!I finally gave up, reloaded everything, this time, using WIn 8.1 Pro, not Enterprise. After I did the updates, patches, Norton 360, shut computer down and connected the external drives, and booted up...and got the BSOD. This time, I went to Microsoft and downloaded the Windows Debugger, and think I may have found the problem...NORTON!
Probably caused by : SYMDS64.SYS ( SYMDS64+71be6 )
Am conrtacting them, but, here's the Debugger output:

Since the last update my i tunes wont launch it just give error message Error 7 (Windows error 127) how do i fix it please?
Like many others I have been reading about online I am having the same error. I tried the fix listed above and simply wasted 30 minutes of my time. I scheduled a time for Apple to call and help me through this and their solution was for me to call Microsoft for some reason?!! iTunes made me upgrade then stopped working - I really don't see how this is a Microsoft problem??
Like Darren if a solution is not found quickly I will also have to sell my phone as the only way to get videos and music on my phone is through the software that you made me upgrade, broke and won't help me fix. -
I can't download Itunes to my windows 7 laptop. It gives me a error (HResult:0x00736FD). What do I do?
you can start by posting in the proper forum. This is the iPhone forum, not the iTunes forum.

I was partitioning my HD to allocate free space to give to my windows partition in Boot Camp. Now I cant access my windows partition at all. Please help
TTBOMK the only way you can increase the Windows partition is to repartition the drive back to a single partition
Then reinstall Mountain Lion
Restore all data from backup
Create new larger partition with Boot Camp
Install Windows
Restore data from backup

I can't download itunes to my windows 7 computer. It gives me a error 0x800736fd. I tried all the troubleshooting that apple recommends online. What else can I do?
Hi there AAA87,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s an issue downloading iTunes on your PC, even after trying some recommended troubleshooting suggestions. I’m not sure which suggestions you’ve tried, so if you haven’t already, try the troubleshooting suggestions in the article linked below.

I can't download itunes to my windows 7 computer. It gives me a error 0x800736fd.
Don't know about that error but have you tried:
Make sure iTunes is uninstalled, restart your computer, redownload and install iTunes (make sure you download the right one. If you have a 64-bit Windows7 then download the iTunes 64bit version).
Hopefully this works for you. If not then somebody in this forum should know the answer. -
HI, I installed Itunes on my computer. When i wanted to open the application, it gives error "Apple Application Support not found" "Error 2 (Windows error 2)"
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if a component such as Apple Application Support won't install normally.

I am not totally sure on the OS. I know its 8, not sure which oneSo this started yesturday, When i turn it on, It says its going through system recovery, Then it was telling me that(File:\windows\ system32\winload.edi) has an error code of 0XC0000001.But now it just says Error code 0XC0000185.but still gets to that blue screen and after a littel while shuts off.
Now every time I turn it on, that is the same message I get.No did not make any recovery disk and frankly don't know why I can't download what I need. Instead of waiting for a flash drive to be mailed to me.Anyway, thank for any help I can get.Laterwell I started tapping F11 till I got to a dos screen and then f2 for diagnostic's. after running a few of those overnight, it is telling me that the laptop has no hard drive???? Yet it still has dos and the HP programs on it. What gives??
