Windows 7 on imac, pc gaming

hey,
so i just installed windows 7 on the mac. im trying to install a two disk pc game. (install disk, playing disk). as it is installing it asks for the playing disk. now i cant escape the screen to eject it because it says it will cancel if i do. is there anyway to eject the disk without going back to the main windows screen? (btw the game is axis and allies if that helps).

Hi and welocme to Discussions,
if you have used the OSX install DVD that came with your Mac to install the Apple BootCamp Driver, you can use the 'eject'-key on your keyboard.
Some game installer are smart enough to eject the first disc when asking for the next one.
Hope it helps

  • Update graphic driver on Bootcamp (Windows 7), iMac late 2013

    Hi guys,
I googled a lot but there are way to many possible solutions...
I bought a late iMac 27" with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M 2GB. I installed Windows 7 (64Bit) for gaming purposes. Now I'd like to update the graphics driver but am not sure how to do it.
--> is it possible to update them directly via the official NVIDIA drivers or do I need some "special" drivers from Apple?
I don't want to mess up the boot camp installation since installing windows and especially doing all the windows-updates takes forever and a day...
thanks a lot for your help!

Install the driver provided by NVIDIA. In fact Apple uses NVIDIA drivers in Boot Camp, but they are very outdated, so they will not give you the best performance. To fix that, go to the NVIDIA website and install the most recent NVIDIA driver.

  • Can't print to a shared printer on 10.6.8 iMac from Windows 7 iMac

I am creating another discussion as I made some changes and hoping PAHU-san will be able to solve this problem.  I am using a Mac OSX 10.6.8 iMac and Windows7 iMac.  I installed the driver Canon LBP6750 UFRII on each machine and both can print.  However, printing from Windows 7 iMac to a shared printer on the Mac OSX 10.6.8 does not print anything and has no errors.
Here are some logs.  If you need additional information, please let me know.

PAHU, Thank you for looking into this.  I have been working on this for a long time, and hoping that purchasing these two Canon printers are not a mistake.  My iMac 10.6.8 is not directly connected to a printer by USB, but through protocol IPP (I have also tested with HP Jetdirect).  I am doing this because I would like the iMac 10.6.8 to be a print server and have client machines (iMac 10.6.8 clients and iMac Windows 7) print through the print server.  I have tried the following on the iMac 10.6.8 and have the following errors

  • With all the games coming out for iMacs what Gaming Pad or Jotstick works with the Imac

With all the games coming out for iMacs what Gaming Pad or Jotstick works with the Imac

Now the bad news. In my "Print to Video" pop up, if
I select "Color Bars" , "Black", or any other option
and take out my bars and tone and slug from the
timeline, the print to video does not print anything
to tape except for a nice nothing blue. I don't
even get my actual timeline video printed to tape.
    Jerry,
You are a genius! Man do I feel silly. So just for the benefit of others who might read this post, I did exactly as you said, and of course when I restarted FCP, I had to identify my Firewire NTSC setting for the drive. This time, instead of leaving my tapedrive offline, I left it on and immediately saw on my drive monitor the video coming off of my timeline.
Every thing works perfect. I now have a clean timeline with just the content I'm working on and don't have to worry about bars, slugs, post black. Just a few checkboxes and I'm ready to send my tapes off. Really nice feature.
    Thanks!

Licenses in all versions prior to CC are strictly platform specific, either Mac or Windows.
A windows serial number does not work on a Mac and vice-versa., neither do the binaries themselves, of course.`
Not sure if you can still request a platform swap (also knows as a crossgrade), which requires destroying the Windows software and license.

  • Installing Windows on iMac?

    Installing Windows on iMac?
I finally decided  to install Win XP oniMac. Reading Boot Camp Instructions all went well until afterputting windows disk in drive I have no mouse or keyboard functions.I'm using keyboard & mouse that came with my imac,  both are plugin USB connections (keyboard plugs in USB port at rear of iMac &Mouse into keyboard USB slot) I did read in Boot Camp that a USBkeyboard and mouse, or a built-in keyboard and trackpad  is required,so I reasoned since keyboard & supplied mouse are USB powered they would be alright, not so.Windows is prompting to push ENTER or F3 to continue, but I have no function or mouse pointer to do this.Plus I can't eject Windows disk or nothing else but hold button downon rear to shut down iMac, then if I restart iMac we go back toWindows trying to install again. How do I get outta this mess? Even if I get another USB keyboard will it function, or am I missingsomething here? Thanks for any help here.

You will have a much better chance of getting an answer if you post over in the BootCamp forum.

    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • IMac 27" gaming on Windows 7 overheating and graphic freeze

When i play battlefield 3 in WINDOWS 7 on my brand new iMac 27" i 7, after some time the computer gets EXTREMLY hot and graphics start to freeze.
Im 100% sure its the graphic card/ processor who gets to warm. It sounds like the fans runs on full power to.  (it only happens in windows)
Anyone know if there is a solution?
    Specs:
    IMac 27" 3,4 Ghz Intel Core i7
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM
    1 TB HD
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB graphics
    Windows 7 (full updated)
    OSX Lion (full updated)
My earlier iMac from 2010 gets so hot that the motherboard and graphic card burned off, and apple gave me a new iMac.

Off course a tower solution will be optimal for gaming...
Except from the overheating problem, my iMac (2 gb graphic ram) runs Battlefield 3 extremely perfect. Im just affraid of everytime my mac gets warm it will be a little damaged, and like my old mac suddenly die.
Everytime my mac has overheated, it feels like osx is getting a bit slower. (feels like im slowly burn up my cpu)
Now i downloaded MAC FAN to controll fan speed in windows, but i dont have much hope because the fans already sounds like they run very fast, and are very noisy after gaming a couple of hours.

  • Configure a new 27" iMac for gaming help

My gaming computer right now is a first generation version 1.1 Mac Pro from 2006 That is more than a little long in the tooth despite having a video card upgrade to ATI 4870 in 2010 playing the beta of Elder Scrolls Online this month it chugs at just less than 30fps in to 1920x1200 it drops to under 10fps at times.
So it is time for a new computer as it is passing into the realm of no longer being able to keep up to date and due to its mother board design it is limited to osx 10.7 and under bootcamp win XP is the newest it will run
I am something of a mac diehard having bought my first Mac March of 1984 and though I no longer work on my PC (retired) I enjoy playing computer games for a few hours each day. Looking forward to Elder Scrolls Online in a few days and enjoying the improved flow of osx games seen over the last few years (but I do play games like skyrim and the fallouts under bootcamp and XP sp3.
So my  target system seems to be a new iMac 27"  at just under $3,000
    Specifications
3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
    16GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2X8GB
    3TB Fusion Drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4GB GDDR5
    Apple Magic Mouse
Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
Accessory Kit and of course a few thunderbolt to FireWire 800 converters
while I doubt I will get the 8 years between systems that this old pro got me it should be fine for the next 3 to 5 years
A new Mac Pro no longer makes sense as I no longer do the solid modeling work that justified a pro back in 06 also the new pro uses workstation graphics cards that are not optimal for games
So run with the antique Mac Pro 1.1 at medium to high graphics ( low in crowded areas ) with most of the other graphics options turned off at best for the next year or blow the tax refund on a high optioned 27" iMac
I thought of trying to find a last version Mac Pro tower used on eBay as that would mean I could just swap over all my FireWire 800 stuff and not have buy the thunderbolt converters but I do not have a good feel as to how good the last version Mac Pro will be as a gaming computer hence my question here and I will also post this over in the Mac Pro forum if it is thought to be a good idea to go with the find a last years Mac Pro idea
    Thoughts?

Of course! And XP is no longer supported after this spring this is what I am stuck running on my no longer upgradable Mac Pro. I will of course install the windows 7 pro 64 sp1 that I run on my 2009 mac book pro under boot camp.
Either I find a good last model Mac Pro (I think September 13 is the last version) or I go with the 27" iMac outlined above. But either way it is about  a $3,000 spend, all I am seeing on the refurb list at the apple store here of late are 2012 vintage pros, so I guess if I want a last version pro it will be eBay.... That always bothers me as I have not had the best luck getting stuff there.
And that is why I am asking about the loaded iMac 27 as a gaming machine

  • Imac 27' gaming

Hi, i'm playing some games on bootcamp windows 7.
Is it possible to play games with full-screan resolution (1600x1200, 1400x... etc.) without any black bars along the sides of monitor? (PC video cards just can extend image). Playing 1900x.. giving low fps & playing 1280x... giving bad picture...

Off course a tower solution will be optimal for gaming...
Except from the overheating problem, my iMac (2 gb graphic ram) runs Battlefield 3 extremely perfect. Im just affraid of everytime my mac gets warm it will be a little damaged, and like my old mac suddenly die.

  • Window pop-ups when gaming

I bought a Y50 gaming laptop recently and am having an issue I can't seem to stop. When I am in a game (Team Fortress 2) often the last app I used just pops up and I have to ALT tab back into the game. First it was the Lenovo assistant so I uninstalled it, now it is the news, it seems to be the last web-based app I used.
I can't for the life of me figure out what keys I am pressing to activate it because when it happens I am typically pressing the left mouse button and direction keys (W,A,S,D). Since I used WIn7 prior to this I am guessing WIn 8 has some wonderful function/shortcuts I am aware of that is causing this to happen.
Any insight would be appreciated as this is quite annoying.

Maybe you are just pressing certain key combinations or shortcuts randomly. Check in the synaptics software to disable the touchpad when an external mouse is plugged in.
That is the only thing I can think of right now.

Hello, fantasticphilman.  It sounds like this is what happened to me.  I am making the assumption that when you "updated [your] Apple stuff on Windows" that means you installed the latest Bootcamp update. My problem started when I updated to Bootcamp 3.3 in WIndows.  It turns out that it was a Bluetooth problem, and not a Magic Mouse problem
Here's what I did to fix it:
    -Right click on "My Computer"
-Click on "Properties" (at bottom of drop-down menu)
-On left sidebar click on "Device Manager"
    -Device Manager window will open.
(If you don't know much about drivers and stuff like that, this is where they are managed in Windows)
-Click on little right-pointing arrow beside "Bluetooth Radios"
-This should drop-down two Bluetooth Radios:  1) "Generic Bluetooth Adapter, and 2) Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator
-Right click on "Generic Bluetooth Adapter"
-Click on "Properties" (at bottom of drop-down menu); this will open the adapter's Properties window
    -Click on Driver tab
-Click on "Update Driver" button; the Update Driver Software window will open
-Click on the "Browse my computer for driver software" thingy with green arrow beside it (is this a button, a space, a control?  I just don't know)
-Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" thingy with green arrow beside it
-This will open a window that says "Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware"
-Uncheck the box ("Show compatible hardware"); this will bring up a big long list of various Bluetooth radio manufacturers)
-Scroll to Apple Inc. (In my case, I had to scroll up)
-Click on Apple Inc.; this will show the Apple Bluetooth adapters
Now, I'm typing this up while in Mac OS on my 2006 iMac (still running like a charm).  I'm going through these steps on my laptop (Macbook Pro, running Windows....) so I can type them up here.
Under the "Model" box on the right, the Macbook Pro laptop only shows one (1) "Apple Broadcom Built-in Bluetooth" driver.
When I did this on my iMac, it showed two (2) Apple drivers.  They both had dates on them.  One of them showed a driver from 2009, and the other showed a driver from 2011.
At first I clicked on the driver from 2011, but continued to have problems.  Then I went through this whole process again, clicked on the driver from 2009, and voila!
    It just worked!
(Now, please don't quote me on those dates; I'm typing this last part from memory.  Once I get back in to Windows on my iMac, I'll confirm.)
It has worked great ever since.  I'd love to hear if this works for you.

  • How do I move Outlook email from Windows to iMac

I have decided to move from Windows (Vista) to iMac (Mavericks) and need to move all my email from my Windows PC (Outlook 2010) to iMail.
I've found several suggestions on the internet including various software applications for converting from one to the other although most seem to indicate problems with lost emails.  Is there a recommended method from Apple which works?
