Windows 7 & Ovisuite 2.0 problems
Hi,
Tried to install Ovisuite 2.0.10 on a Windows 7 x64 installation, some observations:
- As soon as you connect your phone (5800 XM in my case) it starts installing drivers. Most drivers are downloaded from Windows Update... except for one ... PC Suite Services making it impossible to sync with Ovisuite. Ovisuite even won't connect to the phone.
- My solution was to go into Device Manager and manually update the driver from there. It again looks on the internet, but suprise.. surprise.. this time it finds a driver. It takes ages to download, but it in the end it works.
- After you connect Ovisuite first time and exist, and try to use Windows Media Player you will notice Windows Media Player hangs. In my case as soon as you start WMP with or without the phone connected it would hang. I noticed that despite quitting Ovisuite from the tray bar it's still running.
- If you connect the phone in MTP mode and start WMP (with the zombie process OviSuite still running) the device driver install will start over and over again.
- Just .... Reboot
- Start WMP again, should be ok now, and connect your phone in MTP mode. The MTP device driver will install and you can now manage your phone from Windows Media Player.
- I checked Ovisuite and it still works fine.
Compared to Vista I can now (at least until now, sucessfully) use both WMP and Ovisuite. Earlier Ovisuite 2.0 versions completely nuked Windows Media Player. I even had to use System Restore to get rid of Ovisuite. Some earlier beta's were less problematic.
Dear Nokia:
- Please fix the PC Suite driver install.
- Fix the MTP & WMP issues. Though less problematic as earlier beta's, it still not working for 100%.

I am a business man that believed into Nokia from the begining, yes, I had a Nokia Mobira 512 from the Finnish army some 20 years ago and never went for another brand but now I believe it is over. I don't know what is going on at Nokia but everything is going wrong. I just but a brand new PC with Windows 7 and tried to use OVI suite and player...
I lost my pruchased music, files got corrupted, nothing is working the way it should and worst NO, NO, and NO support from Nokia. I had to buy 3 BH-904 before I got one that behave like it is adverstise, I got the recharge unit only to find out that MAX output is 700m when the N97 needs 1000m and I have 3 N97, today I went out to buy the new BH-905 only to realize that the wire CA-143U is not in the box.
This is ridiculous from a company like Nokia and I now welcome all the smartphone brand. Nokia maybe you still sell about 100M units per year but It will go now from now, at least from me.
Please have someone with a decision power reach me and to other loyal clients.

This will work if your problem looks like this: "resource usage 230/60" and you can't change any other setting
Just follow the steps:
Step 1: Create a text file named ‘commandline.txt’ (without the " ")
Step 2: Put the following statement inside it:
i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 (with the -)
i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0 (with the -)
Step 3: Open the main GTAIV folder (C/ program files (86)/ rockstar games/ GTA IV) and copy the commandline.txt file into it.
Step 4: locate the file "GTAIV.exe" (in GTA main folder)
Right click the file and select Properties
Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target
Modify the Target adding the command line after the last quotation mark (just add the statement you added in commandline.txt)
(remember, i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 / i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0)
It should look something like this:
Make sure to add space between " and -"

im trying to download itunes 10.5 but keep getting error message that says: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A problem run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that. -

Do not know about 5, but, just installed PE 6 on I7 64 bit and it works.

There are a few other people have the same issues. However there was no real solution provided although the post was marked as answered. I am posting it here again and hopefully I can get some help to solve this issue.
We got two new PCs, one with windows 7 and the other with windows 8.1 Pro. In the same network with domain, the windows 7 pc has no problem at all to join the domain. However the windows 8.1 Pro won't join the domain. On the windows 8.1 Pro computer,

Does anybody know if Windows 8 is causing a problem with iTunes? Many songs on my old iPod are now missing in my iTunes library and I can't find them anywhere. . Also, I have a new iPod and am afraid of using it for fear of something else going wrong.
Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

I have 250 windows 8.1 tablets.
I figured since you can use the same account on 81 devices id create 4 accounts.
I need to download more than 25 free apps from the store
on each tablet. Putting the same account don't work. (comes up with an error after putting on to many devices that you cant use this account now).
Whats the best way to do this ? and what if I need to download a paid app ?

Window detected a hard disk Problem on my Satellite L505-S5988
Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5988 with window 7 Home Premium 09 Service pack 1. It is 2+ years old and my hard drive is Toshiba MK3263GSX 287GB. Lately, I got a window warning message as “ Windows detected a hard disk Problem. Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss, and then contact the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or place the disk….. The following hard disks are reporting failure: Disk Name: TOSHIBA MK3263GSX Volume: C:\ “.
Since then, I have imaged my laptop and run malware/spyware softwares, and it looks like my computer is clean. The laptop device manager said my hard drive is working properly. However the warning keeps pops up. I opened Administrative Event Viewer and found the below warning:

Besides this warning, there are also other errors and warnings back to years ago, such as AFS failed to load, print service… Despite all these errors and warnings, my laptop seems to be running OK. I was not prevented from doing anything that I usually do.
Questions:
Is there a tool I can run to verify that my hard drive is truly bad?
Can any tool further identify where?
Can it be repaired? Reformat? Or I have to replace with a new one?
What options I have if I have to replace with a new one?
What is average cost of it?

That's good enough for me. I would replace the disk.

Whatever you read was incorrect. You can upgrade directly to Mavericks. It is in the App Store and is free.
Snow Leopard predates the operating system you already have. That's the reason it will not install on your MacBook Air. You spent $20 needlessly for it, but it's yours to resell if you wish. -
I am using Windows XP Professional 2002 w/ SP3 on a Dell Latitude E4300 laptop wirelessly connecting to my Airport Express 802.11n (firmware 7.5.2).
I can see my Airport Express in iTunes 10.4.1 and can select it via the Airplay button. iTunes even detects whether or not a speaker is connected to the Airport Express. But when iTunes tries to connect, it comes back after a while saying "An error occurred while connecting to the Airplay device xxx. An unknown error occurred (error -15000)."
A similar problem happens with Airfoil from Rogue Amoeba that I use to stream music from other apps such as VideoLAN to Airport Express on the same laptop. I can see that my Airport Express is available but when Airfoil tries to connect, it comes back saying "It appears that a firewall on this computer is preventing Airfoil from connecting to xxx Airport Express. Please check your firewall settings and try again."
I've set both Airplay and iTunes as exception programs in my Windows Firewall setting, and even added TCP ports 5000 to 5005 and UDP ports 6000 to 6005 to the exceptions as recommended by Airfoil. I've also disabled Symantec Endpoint Protection that Ihave installed. The only thing I can't disable is McAfee Endpoint Encryption, since I also use the laptop at work and I don't have permission to disableMcAfee. I use this laptop to connect wirelessly with other devices such as HP wireless printers, NAS drives and other laptops on my home network and have never had any issues, so i think that this issue is specific to the Airplay software being blocked by some firewall (I am assuming Airfoil also uses Airplay).
I've tried this on different wireless networks and I have the same issue with Windows XP on my Dell Latitude E4300. I've also set up the network with no security, but the problem doesn't go away.
I also tried downgrading iTunes to 10.3.1 but won't work. I think it's an Airplay issue, not a specific iTunes issue, since I'm facing the problem with Airfoil as well.
How do I trace what is going on that is preventing iTunes and Airfoil from streaming to the AirportExpress within Windows XP?
I also have another Dell Inspiron laptop on the same network running on Windows Vista, and have no problems streaming music from iTunes or Airfoil to the Airport Express on the same network, even when the network is WPA-2 Personal (TKIP+AES) protected (I've seen other postings where WPA has been an issue, WEP has not, but in my case, this is not an issue). Ditto with my iPad2.

I ' ve already tried to setup firewall Exception list, even turning off firewall off both windows and antivirus but still got the same problem with the message 'Airfoil was unable to connect to the remote speaker " ... 's Airport Express". Please check the firewall on the computer where " ...'s Airport Express" is running and try again'. Any help would be appreciated !.

I have installed Windows 7 64 bit version in my MacBook Pro Retina(13") late 2013 model . It was working fine from last 8 months but recently popup window showing as "Windows detected a hard disk problem" once login. Please check the following image.
I have contacted Apple Support team. They have tested the hard disk while booting from Mac OS and all the reports showing as hard disk is fine. Then I thought might be it was some virus and removed the Bootcamp partition and re-installed Windows 7 Operating System. But once updated Windows 7 with latest updates. This message showing again.

When I use the Mac disk tools from the startup menu, it see also the problem.
Now the big question is : Why I've this type of issue with 2 MBA and 1 Macbook pro 15".
Their configurations are the same : windows 7 with truecrypt.
Maybe Windows drastically reduces the lifetime of the Apple SSD drive.
The 3 Mac are used for less than 6 month !!!! -
Flash Player in Windows 8.1 64 bit problems .....
Hi. I have just installed Windows 8.1, but have problems with the embedded Flash Player in Internet Explorer.
Starting Internet Explorer from the Desktop causes no problems. In particular (in case this has any bearing), going to BBC.co.uk, Sport,Formula 1, and playing videos there uses Flash Player with no problem.
Starting Internet Explorer from the Start screen (the Graphical one!) opens BBC.co.uk fine, through Sport to Formula 1 - OK. Even before I try to play any of the videos, attached to each video is a message telling me that I have the wrong vesrion of Flash Player, and invites me to download the correct one. Trying this brings an error message saying that Flash Player is an integrated part of I.E., and will not allow me to download. Attempting to "update to the latest version for Win 8.1" gives me the same message. The reported version I have is 12.0.0.77, the O.S. is Windows 8.1 (64 bit), but the Browser reported is NONE. I have checked that Flash Player is enabled, and visited Manage ..... I cannot find a problem. Can someone cast any light?Using the non-desktop version of IE11 is where we see this most often. The problem can be summed up in three words:
"User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.

Opera (from Opera)
Safari (from Apple)
Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in. I've read elsewhere that Opera in "Turbo Mode" is the best for viewing ANYTHING at bbc.co.uk. "Turbo Mode" enables proxy viewing, which apparently helps with the bbc site. -

It has been about 2 months since I had my new laptop and first I coudnt get the flash cards to work so I finally fixed that and now everytime I start windows an error message comes up and keeps coming up every 10 minutes saying:

Please tell me how I can fix this because I called Toshiba support and the guy couldnt even figure out the drivers name for flash card.

Thanksyour hard drive is failing. you need to do what it says. back up everything and then either call toshiba to have it replaced under warranty or buy a new one and change it yourself. this is where all of your info and files are saved so if it fails without you backing it up you lose everything.

the mac clients are running RDC for mac version 2.1 and they cannot connect to Windows 2008 R2 TS server. They get the error "You were disconnected from the Windows-based computer because of problems during the licensing protocol".
really appreciated if someone have a fix for this.

1. TS lic mode is set to per user confirmed it works for windows clients.
2. the TS server's system log logged error "The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client".
3. the reports shows per user cal has been issued to users. no temp per device cal has been issued.
4. yes, CoRD works .
5. we tried version 2.1.1 of the Mac RD Client but it also does not work. -
Starz PLAY "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing this file" error!?!
My laptop running Windows 7 is having the error, " Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file." when trying to play downloaded movies whereas the "live Starz TV" works fine. My netbook is working properly though, anyone seen this before?
- if you're still having the issue, make sure you are running all the latest video/audio codec's for windows media player and win 7 and also take a moment to check this article from microsoft.
