Macbook Air has two partitons ,one is windows 7 ,another is Mac OS,now.
i want to multiple partition in Windows 7?pls telll me what's next one i do?

To make a new partition inside your windows one, boot into windows 7, download and install one of the free partition managers (easeus for example) and create the partitions you require. Though to be honest, why would you want to do that?

Windows Partition No Longer Shows Up After Accidental Premature Closing of Camptune

I was running Paragon Camptune to expand my Windows 7 partition. The progress bar reached the end and stayed there for about 30 minutes. The Camptune window was then accidentally closed and Camptune quit itself. I restarted the computer but the Windows partition no longer shows up when I try to boot it, only Mac OSX and Recovery Disk. The Bootcamp drive is no longer accessable from System Preferences, and the Bootcamp partition folder is no longer accessable in the Devices area of Finder. Camptune no loner recognizes that there was a partition. Thus, I am no longer able to access the partition's contents or delete it and make a new one.
It would be preferable if I could fix the partition and have it accessable again, however I have no problem with deleting it and making a new partition. Any advice? Thanks for your time.

Bootcamp does show up in the disk utility but it is grey instead of black like the Macintosh HD.

IMac no longer boots up to windows partition?

Hi,
I have a problem where my I installed Windows 7 on my iMac and set it to automatically boot up to the Windows partitionwhen turning on the computer. Suddenly, it's not doing that anymore. It boots up to the Apple partition and when I want to choose partitions, I have to hold down "Alt" upon booting up. I've always had to hold down "Alt" to choose partitions so that's not a problem. The problem is it doesn't automatically boot up to the Windows partition, as I originally set it.
Anyone encounter this problem and have any advice?

On OSX go to System Preferences the Startup Volume and reset your Windows 7 partition to be the default.
On the next reboot it should automatically boot into Windows.
A PRAM-reset http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1895 can be the cause of this behavior.

You can use XP but it has to be in a Virtual Machine and OS X as the host instead of as a dual boot system with XP in its own partition. That is how I run Windows on my Mac, in a Virtual Machine.
Take a look at VritualBox from Oracle. It's free and works very well.

When booting into my previously working Windows partition, the screen is not displaying anything. It was working before...

Im not sure what happened but I just tried to bootinto my Windows partition and the screen is completely blank. I dont see the Windows boot logo and I eventually here the startup noise. I have also been able to logon without seeeing the screen.
Ive done a PRAM and SMC reset and neither has helped. I suspect that a recent update on OS X may have caused video issues but I am not sure of it. All of my research has led me to a black screen during the install of Windows onto the bootcamp partition. Nothing delaing with an actual running Windows partition that just goes to black.
Any suggestions?

There is more than enough disk space available on the partition.
Booting from the install CD doesnt work because I cannot seeing anything.
Removed my install of Windows 7 via bootcamp and tried to reinstall but I got the same black screen (no backlight as usual).
BTW, OS X does affect the Windows install. If you update the driver for the say the video card, that means that the apple drivers that are needed to run Windows are more than likely to be affected.
Just like VMware tool running on a ESXi 4.1 host will need to be reinstalled on an ESXi 5.0 host. Same hardware but the tools on the VM need to be updated to reflect the host OS.

Upgrading MacBook Pro Hard Drive - cannot get Windows partition to work

The other day, I decided to replace my 320 GB hard drive with a 1 TB hard drive/SSD hybrid. I did a little bit of research about cloning the drive before that, and it seemed pretty straight forward to clone the OS X partition, but I wasn't really sure about cloning my Windows partition. Originally, my 320 GB hard drive had 2 partitions: 220 GB for OS X Mavericks, and 100 GB for Windows 8.1.
I bought the new drive with an external enclosure and plugged it in. The first thing I did was open Disk Utility and partitioned the new hard drive (750 GB HFS+, 250 GB NTFS). I figured I would need to partition it first and clone each partition separately. I used Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the OS X partition, and it worked with no problem (I immediately could restart my computer and boot with the partition on the new drive, while it was still plugged in by USB).
Next, I tried using CCC to clone the Windows partition the same way (I realize now that CCC cannot do this). 7 hours later, the cloning was complete, but there was an error that a couple files couldn't be copied. I tried copying them manually but it didn't work. I wasn't sure if the Windows partition would work, so to find out, I switched the hard drives and put the old 320 GB one in the external enclosure. I booted my computer and it booted the new OS X partition with no problem. It also mounted the Windows partition that I cloned with CCC, and I can access all of the files in it. However, when I restarted and held down "option", it would not let me boot the Windows partition.
After some googling, I realized CCC is not able to clone a bootcamp partition and make it bootable, so I opened disk utility and deleted the Windows partition (using the minus button), then recreated it (using the plus button). I downloaded Winclone (paid $30), which supposedly can clone a bootcamp partition. I opened Winclone and it seemed pretty simple: you just choose the source partition on the left, and the target on the right. I plugged in the USB enclosure with my old hard drive, and in the Winclone menu the original Windows partition popped up. I chose that as my source, and chose to copy it to the new NTFS partition on the new drive that I created. I left it on overnight, and when I woke up it said it was completed.
I now had two drives mounted: my NTFS partition that I created, and a new one that said "EFI". I have no idea what EFI is. My NTFS partition looks like it has all of the files from my original Windows partition on it; however, when I restart it does not allow me to boot with it, although I now have the option to boot EFI. When I select EFI, I am given the Windows 8.1 start up screen (with the blue Windows logo), but then an error message pops up saying something like there is an issue and it needs to restart (it restarted before I could read the whole thing).
When I boot in OS X, I only have the NTFS partition (with all my Windows files) mounted, and no EFI. When I restart, I can still boot EFI, but I always get the same message and then it restarts.
Is there any way I can fix my Windows partition so that it works the same way it did on my old drive? What is EFI? Should I delete it? How can I make the NTFS partition, which seems to have all of my files, bootable? I only want 2 partitions: one for OS X, and one for Windows. Also, can I do all of this without having to reinstall either of the operating systems?

Hmm, that's a good question!
I headed over to the twocanoes website (the folks that make Winclone) and their guide mentions something about running Sysprep before you create the Windows image. If you skipped that step, that may be why you're having issues

Can't Mount Windows Partition in OSX After Upgrading to 10.5 and BC 2.0

I just installed Leopard today, using the upgrade option (as opposed to a clean install). I was happy to see that I could boot into Windows still, and installed all of the Boot Camp 2.0 drivers while booted into Vista. However, I can no longer mount my Windows partition in OSX. While using Tiger, I did use MacFuse and ntfs-3g to get read-write support, but in Leopard, I can't even read. When I try to mount the Windows volume in Disk Utility, I get an error stating that it cannot be mounted. I also do not have the option to perform "First Aid" or "Repair" on the volume.
I realize that the latest version of ntfs-3g isn't proven to work with Leopard, but I would at least like read access in OSX. Is it possible that some settings were left over from my Tiger configuration that would not allow Leopard to mount the partition? Any ideas?

Ok. I'm in the club with the same problem...
Strange things:
* For the first days after Leopard's install, my BootCamp disk0s3 partition (I'll name it "BillGates") was mounted correctly. Then, after a few days (but BEFORE upgrading to 10.5.1), it disappeared.
* If I launch DiskUtility "BillGates" is shown, but (in the right device navigation bar) it's named "-n BillGates". If I click the Erase menu, it's named "-nBillGates" (without the space between "-n" and "BillGates"). If I launch SystemProfiler it's named "-n BillGates", but the mount point is "/Volumes/billgates". Can't understand where this "-n" thing is coming from!
* If I try to mount "-n BillGates" from DiskUtility it doesn't work and the log says "Mount of -n BillGates failed".
* In the FSTAB there were no instructions: it was empty.
Now, I tried the MacFUSE-solution: no results (meaning BillGates was not mounted on startup).
I tried the modify-the-FSTAB-solution: no results (with "BillGates", "-n BillGates" nor "-nBillGates".
I tried the chkdsk-solution: all tests were ok, but nothing happened.
The only trick that worked was mounting the partition with Terminal's commands (thanks rtracy!!). It made appear "BillGates" on the desktop (without the "-n thing", that is still present in DiskUtility).
Problem is at the first reboot, the Boot Camp partition disappears again. Any ideas for a permanent fix?!

ADDENDUM: I've tried to move a file from desktop to an unlocked folder in BillGates and System did not copy them. "The item could not be moved because "BillGates" cannot be modified" !!!!!!!!

How can I get my Windows Partition to be a startup disk?

I have Tiger 10.4.11, I had boot camp, Running Vista, Just fine for months.
I recently had a problem, within vista which caused a problem with the hard drive/master boot record which wouldn't allow Vista to boot anymore and actually reported "missing operating system".
Previously if I did nothing, after powering on my MacBook, it would default to the Windows partition and start it up (Vista).
Of course I could change this from the "startup disk" applet from within Tiger or I could use boot camp from within Vista.
I have since been able to fix my Vista related startup issue, however at present the MacBook is booting into Tiger by default.
I can HOLD the OPTION key and select either OS.
From the "startup disk" applet within Tiger, it no longer shows "Windows" as a startup option which seems to be an indicator of a problem with Tiger of how it sees the hard drive and/or partition.
I ran disk utility, no change.
How can I make Windows appear as an option in the "startup disk" applet within Tiger?
I can use Boot Camp within Vista, to select the "Windows" disk to restart from, and that works, but I would like to restore full functionality to Tiger.

I want to install 16 gb ram but I don't think I can change the lack of video card. I wanted this basic machine because it has fairly long battery life. I don't need or want retina at this time. My model is the mid 2012 model. I am running the adobe collection for mac, I want to run the windows versions. Is it possible? What is the most ram I could access using something like fusion 5, assuming I could get fusion 5 to work? would it refuse to run because of the intel chipset and lack of video card?
If I'm wrong and there is a way to add a video card to this model, could some version of fusion and windows 7 access more than 2 gb operating ram?
What cost would I be incurring, and would it be cheaper to buy a windows laptop with more ram than I could access via a virtual machine?
I want to work on a client's work in the windows versions of the creative suite, with occasional usage of after effects for windows, and to use some web plug-ins only available in windows versions, and to try some windows-only video and audio software.

I'm hoping to install 16 G of opertating ram to allow more adobe programs to run concurrently- just when I am working on the mac side.
also, off track but, for years I have wanted a small machine that is more easily portable than my 15" machines. I have only had this used machine for a few weeks, but already I have been very satisfied and used it for presentations at clients. I don't want an air because I really want the dvd burner and player. No matter what apple says about wireless, there are decades of legacy work stored on optical discs all over the world, and I don't want to be unable to open something at a client's office because I don't have a dvd drive. Additionally, I have very large files I want to transfer via ethernet or firewire so that the transfer will take less time and be more secure than wifi. I resist apple's trend to make every machine a disposable toy that is viable only a year or so. I have read reviews that label the mbp it a poor value compared to the air. If all you need to do is text and communicate via wifi, many devices will sufice, and an air is certainly the most elegant. But what about the cost of large ssd's and protecting the drive against damage from shock? I want to be able to move this thing around and the small size is much safer inside my padded bag when I sit in narrow airplane seats, crowded trains and other congested spaces. I am much more likely to be able to borrow a large screen in a client's office ( with the use of one of the three adapters I had to buy) than to be able to borrow a dvd drive that has drivers for mac os 10.8.2. I suspect this may be the last generation of machines that have optical drives and ethernet, and that was why I purchased it so that I could continue to do work into the next few years. I am impressed by the retina display, but I need long battery life. And as beautiful as the retina display is, it is even more of a problem when trying to cross platform with the windows world. I wish I could infuence apple to do a trial product flow for a machine designed to work with 80% of the business world that uses windows. How spectacular that would be. With all their expertise and adept hardware design, to create a machine that cross platforms better than a windows machine itself works? Now that would be an accomplishment. Instead of 8 or 9 percent of the total computer sales, why not aim for a higher percentage? Smart devices will keep moving toward portable computers in power, anyway.

Fusion should work on your machine and if you put 16 GB of RAM in (see http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3_160 0MHz_SDRAM), Fusion can access a good portion of that. Also, in a Virtual Machine, the guest OS is presented with Fusion's video card emulation, not what's in hardware on your Mac. Of course, finding Windows 7 now that Win 8 has been released could take some doing and the Win 8 Pro upgrade price is supposed to jump to $200 the end of the month. Add that to the price of Fusion and the extra RAM and you're beginning to get into the realm of low end real PC's.
As to cross platform, I assume you're aware of BootCamp (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1461).

I know some one might have asked it but I just wanna re-confirm.
Would the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion erase my Windows partition? I am currently using Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro (Late 2010 Version) and I do not have parallel desktop. I asked the same question when Lion was released, but HK Apple Store said YES and Melbourne Apple Store said no. I am a bit confused now.

Seeing as how I don't allow anything from Microsloth into my house I am not able to answer your question from personal experience but I believe that Boot Camp can in addition to creating a partition for Winders also delete said partition. If you need more details you might try reposting in the Boot Camp forum instead of the Snow Leopard forum.

What program for backing up my windows-partition?

hey. i recently made a new partition using boot camp assistant.
its formatted as ntfs with windows 7. the problem is, i need more space.
the logical thing to do is to clone the windows-partition from os x, then delete it.
this way i could just make a new one with more space, and restore the image i cloned earlier.
ive seen many giving winclone a chance for this specific job.
i also tried winclone, but i encountered a problem which is (according to many people) due to the fact that
winclone has certain issues/problems with cloning a partition with windows 7.
after around 20 seconds into the cloning process, i get an error message.. probably
because of what i mentioned above.
a quotation "Winclone on Snow Leopard (10.6) has an issue cloning Windows 7 (NTFS) partitions. Disabling compression in Preferences may resolve this."
i would like to check in the preferences of winclone to see if disabling this compression might do the trick,
the only problem is - i cannot locate any preferences.. anywhere. how come?
and, is there a better and just as simple alternative to winclone out there, to pull this job?

Your question is a Windows question really and has nothing to do with a Mac or OS X. You may find some help in the Boot Camp forum though. Click Apple Support Communities they type Boot Camp.

Critical Kernel error while on windows partition, now neither mac or windows will boot help ?

Hi I was on my windows side of my mac when i got the blue-screen-of-death with something saying Critical Kernel Error, weird noises from the speakers and the macbook pro did a hard shut off.
Since then I can no longer boot into the mac or windows side (both are stuck infinitely loading). I ran disk utility on the mac side and I have an "Invalid Node Structure." Which disk utility cannot repair. I do have DiskWarrior on another mac to try and rebuild the mac partition through a firewire connection - i think that is the correct course of action ?
But does this mean my windows partition is likely gone or any idea what went on ? As I am terribly confused that while on my windows side I had an error that messsed up both partitions.
Or what to check for so this hopefully doesnt happen again if it is a hardware problem? My drive smart status is listed as "OK" and I cant seem to run the Apple Hardware test as upon attempting to get into it the laptop just shuts off while loading it, although I read somewhere the Apple Hardware test is no longer preloaded on macbook pros.
The system in question is a 15" macbook pro bought around July 2011.

Alright I have both my mac side and windows side repaired and functioning fine. Should I still be concerned ? Linc I know you are saying this is a drive malfunction but is there a way I can be sure ? I still cannot run AHT (restart, hold down D), and my laptop shipped with Lion installed so I believe it should run. It just boots into the mac side when I hold D..

IPod and Windows Partition

I've recently purchased the latest generation MacBook with a 4th generation iPod Nano. A couple of weeks ago I had my iPod connected to the MacBook while it was running Boot Camp (on Windows XP Service Pack 2) and soon after this I noticed that my iPod said that it had no songs. I opened iTunes (on the Mac partition) to find that all the data that was once songs is now listed as "Other". After no luck with getting it to work, I chose to restore the iPod back to factory settings, but the problem still persisted. Whenever I added a song to the iPod, it would show up in iTunes on the iPod as a song, but as soon as I disconnected, the iPod would say that it had no songs, and when I reconnected, iTunes couldn't detect any songs on it.
Since then, I have tried reverting iTunes to an earlier version (as I installed iTunes 8.1 around the same time as this and thought that this may have been the problem), restoring the iPod multiple times, and eventually used Disk Utility to erase the iPod to see if that would help. I've also been looking on many forums where users have had some similar problems and tried their fixes, but none have worked.
I came across this article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493) today which suggested changing the Drive Letter on the Windows side, which I did and changed the iPod from 'E' to 'I', and then my flash drive which was listed as the 'G' drive is no longer detected on either the Mac or Windows partition. I also ran a "Hotfix" .exe file from the Microsoft site that the support article was linking to, which didn't appear to help either. As far as I know, there is no other device that has an 'I' Drive letter (sorry I don't know much about Windows as I've been using Mac all my life).
So if someone could help me out or point me to a relevant link, it would be much appreciated.

hello all,
alright, so im looking at a laptop for college and after much research and a few trips to the apple store i want the new, 13-inch macbook pro, with retina display and a 256GB flash hard drive. i love this computer in every aspect except.... you guessed it, its small hard drive. i can always get external drives to make up the differance though, and their is always the cloud so i dont think ill have too much of a problem. but i do need to use some software for college that is only windows based. so rather then splitting up this already small hard drive can i just install windows onto my mac (because i already know i cant put windows on an external drive with boot camp) and make the entire windows partition on the external drive? this way im not losing any native space besides that used to hold windows and im not installing windows to an external drive so hopefully bootcamp wont have a hissey fit. can anyone tell me if this will work? or if this wont work can anyone give me any other solutions to having windows on my mac without splitting up my native hard drive? such as installing windows to my mac and making the partition in the cloud or something? just anything so i dont have to split my already small, yet extremally fast, 256GB hard drive.

You can install Windows on your internal drive and store your Windows data on any drive you want to use. Keep in mind that any Windows programs you install in Windows will be installed on your internal drive. So make the Boot Camp partition large enough for Windows and any programs you may install now or in the future. You will also need room for swap/page files and other activities such as installing Windows updates.
100GB will likely be a good size for the Boot Camp partition given that it is unknown what programs you will be installing.
