Windows 7 Password Reset Disk

Can I use the same USB flash drive to create password reset disks for multiple computers?

Hi Ryan,
When we create password reset disk for an account by using USB flash driver, a file named userkey.psw will be written to the root directory of the USB flash driver by design. When we are going to reset a password for an account from the USB flash driver,
the system will pick up the “userkey.psw” from the root directory automatically. So by default one USB flash driver can be used to create one password reset disk.
But, here is a workaround. Once the “userkey.psw” is saved to the USB flash driver, please move it to folder then the root directory. We can name the folder with the account name to different each other. Then we can save multiple userkey.psw files to the
same USB flash driver.
In case we are going to reset password for a special account, please copy the relevant userkey.psw to the root directory. Then please go ahead to the reset the password.
For your information, please review the following article “Create a password reset disk”:

  • Top 2 workable way to Create Windows 7 Password Reset Disk in any condition

This article describes how to create and use a Windows 7 password reset disk for a computer before and after you forgot the password. You can use Windows 7 password reset CD to gain access to your computer.
Scenario 1: I dont forget the password yet.
Windows 7 has its own backup feature, and you can proactively create a Windows 7 password reset disk before you forget it. With it, you can easily reset your Windows 7 password and get right into your PC.
Follow the easy steps below to create a password reset disk to your own Windows 7 account. Heres how:
Note that this procedure requires one blank, formatted floppy disk.
    1. Click on "Start"->"Control"->"User Accounts and Family Safety"->"User Accounts".
    2. In the task pane, click "Create a password reset disk". The "Forgotten Password Wizard" appears.
    3. Click "Next", and then choose the portable media drive.
    4. Click "Next", and then enter your current password in the next box and click "Next".
    5. Windows 7 begin to create the password reset disk on your chosen media. When the progress bar reaches 100% complete, click "Next" and then click "Finish".
    6. Now you can remove your device and store the disk in a safe place. Once you forget the password in the future, you can take it out.
Follow the easy steps below to use a password reset disk to recover Windows 7 password. Heres how:
    1. The created password disk can now be used during log-ins to reset the password. A reset password link appears on the account screen after an unsuccessful attempt to log in.
    2. Click on "Rest Password", and the "Password Reset Wizard" dialog opens. Here you need to insert the reset disk to the PC.
    3. Follow the wizard to type a new password twice to make sure you type the correct password. You are suggested to create a new password hint, so that you can remember the password with it if you forget it.
    4. Windows switches to the Windows log-in screen again where you can use the new password to log in.
Scenario 2: I have already forgotten the password.
If you have already forgotten your Windows 7 password but dont have a password reset disk at hand, you can choose another way to reset the password.
Here is how to create Windows 7 password reset CD/USB:
    1. This procedure needs a CD or USB flash drive. Insert your media device into another computer which can access to system as administrator.
    2. Launch Windows 7 password reset disk software. On the main interface, choose "reset Windows local account password".
    3. Choose your target device, and click "Burn" to start Windows 7 password reset disk creation.
Here is how to reset Windows 7 password:
    1. With this Windows 7 Password Reset USB software, boot the computer that you want to reset the password for.
    2. Under Windows PE, you enter the main interface of this software. Choose your Windows system, and select the user account you need to reset password.
    3. Click "Reset", and then "Yes" & "OK" sequentially to finish removing Windows 7 password.
Quite easy, isn't it? After fully control system password reset, you will never worry about your bad memory

  • Equium A200 - Can't make password reset disk on CD

    W/Vista, Pioneer DVD-RW
Can't make password reset disk on CD, all I get is - This feature requires removable media, such as floppy drive or USB flash drive.
Are CD's or DVD's not classed as removable media now?
In help and support it states - you'll need _removable media_ such as a USB flash drive or _CD_..
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Are CD's or DVD's not classed as removable media now?
In my opinion it is the question for Microsoft because you try to use Vista feature and, as far as I know, notebook manufacturers have nothing to do with it.
To be honest for me it is pretty logic. If you want to use such disc it should be small and compact. The best disc for these purposes is USB memory stick. You can put it in every pocket and have with you.
In my opinion CD media is not so adequate for this. What you think about it?

However, the problem looks difficult, not difficult actually. Two factors make efforts on it. One is the new characteristics of Windows 8 system, the other is software technology development. Get Administrator password via Windows Password HintWhen we are creating our Windows system account and login password, a password hint will be asked to set up for preparation. This password hint had better can remind you, only just you of lost or forgotten password. So it couldn’t like the password, but is related to your login password. As a result, while you type a wrong password, the password hint will pops up below the password input box. Based on the password hint, you can think of your origin password.  As seen above, my password hint is email [email protected], and my Windows 8 login password is the same as the password of email. So when the password hint pops up, I will think of Windows login password instantly. 2. Get into computer with PIN code, and reset password for locked accountPIN code is a quick, convenient way to sign in to this PC by using a 4-digit code. Login windows 8 Via Microsoft MSN AccountIf your computer has set up to sign in to Windows 8 with Microsoft account, and you can login Windows with it, and create a PIN that any user who has a password must enter it when waking this PC, and then login with PIN code, reset password with Command Prompt. 4. Reset Windows 8 Password with Another available Admin AccountIf there is another admin account available, log on to Windows with this account first, and then reset other accounts passwords would be easy.
    >> Enter Computer Management screen
Click My Computer to select Manage to enter this screen
    >> Set password for account you want to reset

  • Windows Server 2000 Advanced - Administrator Password Reset/Recovery

I took over tech job for church that has Windows 2000 advanced server environment that has mirrored hard drives...Previous tech or person that installed server does not want to play nice with the administrator password and changes have to be made...I
do have an account without administrator privileges but that does not help...so I attempted to reset or blank the administrator with a password reset disk and was not successful...when the partition mounts (while using reset disk) it shows that the
password has been blanked (*BLANK*) but it still does not work...I've also tried putting the hard drives in a regular desktop, used the password reset disk and administrator password showed to be blanked, so I blanked it again for
safe measure, replaced the drives in server and was still not successful...please advise

First of all thanks for your response Amy...Yes it is the domain controller and only server for 7 users and 6 computers...and yes you were right about the DSRM password getting blanked...was able to log into DSRM with blank administrator password but
that did me no good as I was still not able to make changes to the domain because (you may already know) Active Directory is not available in DSRM (it says to logon with domain administration rights)...my goal is to obtain domain
administrator access in order to make changes:  add/remove users and computer account (which is the password the previous tech will not provide)...since this is such a small domain do I need restore Active Directory to reset or get domain administrator
access? Authoritative Restore?  Which method, as a system state backup has never been done?...please advise

  • How to unlock windows admin password

    Dear Support,
Please tell me how to unlock the password of administrator in windows 8.1
    Ashok Marodia
    9873506200

Method 1: Recover Windows 8.1 Administrator Password with Third-party Software
    1. Download and install Windows Password Recovery Tool Ultimate on a workable computer and launch it.
    2. Insert a blank CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive to the workable computer; choose a way to burn a password reset disk.
    3. Insert the created reset disk into the locked computer and restart the locked computer, then you need to set BIOS to boot the computer from the disk. If your computer with Windows 8.1 preinstalled uses UEFI, you should disable UEFI Secure Boot firstly.
    4. On the showed program after several steps, you can see a list of accounts, choose the administrator account and follow instructions remained.
Method 2: Recover Windows 8.1 Admin Password by Password Reset Disk Created before
    1. Sign in Windows 8.1 with a wrong password, then under the password box will appear the option of "Reset password". Click it.
    2. After that, the password reset wizard shows. Insert the password reset disk into the computer.
    3. Follow instructions on the reset wizard to change or reset your login password.
Method 3: Recover Windows 8.1 Admin Password with a Super Administrator Account
There is a built-in Administrator account in Windows 8.1 which has no password. It is different from a normal administrator account and has super privileges over other accounts. If the super account has been enabled before you lost password, you can use it
to crack Windows 8.1 administrator password or just remove it. Here are detailed steps:
Note: this method can be only used when you have enabled the super administrator account. As the built-in administrator account is usually turned off, you can go back to Windows Password Recovery Tool for Windows 8.1 admin password recovery.
    1. After you start your PC, you will see a list of accounts on the computer; choose the super administrator account to log into your computer.
    2. Now you can change or remove Windows 8.1 administrator password from "Start-> Control Panel-> User Accounts->Sign-in Options" easily.

  • Windows 8.1 resets startup disk to itself after every update

    Hello,
I'm on a late 2014 Macbook Pro 15" retina, running bootcamp with Yosemite on one partition and Windows 8.1 on the other. I prefer OSX as my default startup disk, but every time Windows updates it resets the default startup disk to Windows. Of course I can change it manually, but this gets tedious. Does anyone know a fix for this? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John

You have screwed up your system and you're blaming the crashes on someone else.  You need to stop thinking it's someone else's problem.  Keeping your system healthy is your responsibility.
There is NO upgrade path from preview/evaluation copies to the released versions, anyway, so it really doesn't matter.  You have to reinstall
    something.
You could reinstall 8.0 and upgrade, or you could get an 8.1 disc and put that in as a fresh install (more expensive, but my recommendation), or you could see if maybe this can help you:
