Windows 7 Premiere Pro CC Jumps Frames

So I installed CC a couple months ago and it was working great until about two weeks ago i started to notice that my footage was playing back and jumping frames.  I can't think of anything in particular that I did to cause such a change.
Here's the steps I've taken to trouble shoot.
Upgraded to latest version of Premiere Pro
Uninstalled and reinstalled PR
Updated GFX Card Drivers. TWO GTX 580s
Tried opening a new project
Tried opening different kinds of footage. I.E. Prores, H264, AVC Intra
Footage is stored on Raid I tried playing it from my SSD
When I first installed it I didn't have this problem...
All the footage does the same thing.  It sounds fine but it's like it plays 20 frames then jumps 5.  constantly over and over.
Footage plays back fine on my macbook pro.
Any more ideas?

When I go to creative cloud app it tells me that app is up to date.  So whichever is the current version.

  • Premiere Pro Skips every frame on my PC

I am running 8GB of ram on my PC with two monitors. One I use for playback of my timeline the other for all of my editing. My problem with Premiere Pro is that when I edit my projects the video skips all the time making it where i cant edit that good. I really need to be able to see what I may doing in real time without it skiping every frame. What can I do to stop the skiping or not least make it not so bad?

Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Project frame won't retain its layout or location between opening and closing?

I filed this as a bug, but perhaps I'm thinking through this wrong and would like to seek help.
I'm finding that the Project frame in Premiere Pro CS6 does not retain its layout between opening and closings.
    Here's what I do:
    1) Open a project.
    2) Create several bins and populate them with media. Expand the contents of a bin by clicking the disclosure triangle to the left of the folder.
    3) Undock the Project frame only.
    4) Close the Project frame with Command-W
    5) Use ****-1 to reopen the Project frame.
Repeat steps 4 and 5. The result is that the Project frame does not remember which bin was open. Furstratingly, it also does not retain which bins were expanded or collapsed.
And worst of all, it will also open in random areas of the screen. (The expected result is that it would reopen in the same spot of the desktop where you last closed it, no?)
I'm a big organizer -- tons of footage across many different bins. I open bins, close them, keep some open, close others... easily dozens or hundreds of times during an edit session. I'm beginnging to feel like I'm swatting flies or playing whack-a-mole just to get my bin views correct!
Or mm I approaching this wrong?

But really, the real solution for me was to not update Premiere Pro CS6 after a reinstall. The most recent updates just do not like my computer, I guess.
Figured I should post this solution here in case anyone in the future has this problem. (relevant: xkcd: Wisdom of the Ancients)

  • Premiere Pro CC 'single frame' export squashes aspect ratio

    Hi,
When I used the single frame export button to export a single frame from my timeline, the 16:9 ratio gets squashed in.
The image has a play button graphic on it and that should be round but it comes out oval.
When I import the image into Photoshop, it looks normal 16:9 but when I save it as a jpeg and open it up, it's still squashed.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me sort this out.
    Cardamada

Thanks Jim for your quick reply.  I am still wondeirng if there is a better way.  The footage I am editing is 1920 x 1080 DSLR footage.  Anytime I export a frame from Fnal Cut Pro it does it fine.  I moved over to Adobe recently and I'm suprised that it's not working.  I wondered whether there was a way to change my export settings so that it exports with square pixels from Premiere Pro.  Meanwhile I will try to follow your  instructions re square pixles and photoshop.

  • Poor quality encoding on OSX & Windows - Premiere Pro CC & Media Encoder CC

I run two computers, a Mac Pro and a Qosmio running Windows 8. I was experiencing rendering issues on my Windows 8 machine, using the same presets and settings I always have. Later installed CS6 using my old serial and render quality was fine.
Downloaded CC on my mac and sure enough I get the issue with both of my installed versions of CC and not with CS6. I recorded a simple video in quicktime to demonstrate my issue.
On the left is CC, right CS6. As you can see, my settings are identical. These were rendered in Encoder, but Premiere produces the same results.
These are the final videos opened directly after rendering. Top is my encoded file through CC and the bottom is my encoded file from CS6.
Any ideas? I keep going to support for this issue and either mysteriously lose my connection and am never recontacted or simply ignored and have them render a video and say "I don't see any problem with this" even though I'm seeing the same discrepencies I'm showing above.
Also, it does this for all recorded videos. I made the mistake of using a video recorded in Captivate for a support call once and was shrugged off as it being a captivate error. It does this for all videos, regardless of their source.

    Hi victoriavanpatten,
    Sorry you're having trouble.
The first thing I noticed is that your source file is 60fps and the preset you are using is for 24fps. You might want to use a custom setting that matches your source sequence. I could not locate any presets for 60fps video. You have to create one.
You can also try 1 pass VBR instead of 2 pass VBR in Bitrate Settings. I have heard a few complaints about 2 pass VBR encoding.
Let us know if these possible solutions help you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Final Cut Pro - sticking & jumping frames

Hi, I am 10 minutes into an opening sequence using 'Final Cut' when the frames start sticking and jumping at the same place. Past this point - if I reposition the cursor everything is OK. Your problems may be dropped frames that results from a too slow media drive or multiple FW drives on a single bus.

  • Premiere Pro begins dropping frames after a few hours of editing

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I'm running Premiere CC on a new iMac 27inch and after a few hours of editing both the source monitor and record monitor begin dropping frames at a pretty high rate. The only way I have found to fix this is to shutdown the computer. But in a few hours, I'm back to dealing with dropped frames. My iMac is tricked out with I7 processor, 32 gigs of ram, and an nvidia graphics card with 2 gigs of ram.  I am editing with raw files from a Canon 5D, but the edits are pretty straightforward, nothing too complex. Does anyone know a fix for this?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes When Importing HD Clips

I've used Camtasia forever but recently decided to "upgrade" to Premiere Pro when I got my new Macbook.  Not being familiar with Premiere at all, I thought I would play with it with a few short clips.  I have HD footage of my martial arts class which I shot with my Canon Vixia HG20 and copied it to my Macbook.  However, when I imported a few clips into Premiere Pro and try to play it, it hangs.  It will play one or two clips and then it stops responding after that.
All in all, it's only about 2 minutes of footage that I've put into Premiere Pro.  I have no problems putting the clips into the Timeline but when I try to preview the clips (either in the source monitor or the program monitor windows), Premiere Pro gives me the little rainbow pinwheel and 20 minutes later, it's still spinning around.  I bought a 500Gb external hard drive to use as the scratch disk because I thought maybe it was a space issue having everything on my Macbook but I still get the pinwheel.  My only solution is to force quit the program.
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro on OS X (10.5.6) with 4GB of memory, GeForce 8600M graphics card, and 200GB hard drive.  I've read about a of of the crashes on here but didn't really see anything similar to my situation.  Any ideas?  I spent a lot on Premiere Pro and am not willing to give up on it  quite yet.
    Please and thank you!

17 Mbps is still at the high end, but IMHO they should ultimately work.
Very often with AVCHD, you have to play a clip until it freezes, then wait.  If you monitor CPU usage during the waiting time, you'll see that it is quite active.  The process using the CPU is the ImporterProcessServer, which has to do some kind of magical stuff to the AVCHD clips in order for them to play and scrub in Pr.  Once the IPS is done, you should be able to scrub and play the clip just fine.
Usually you only have to do this once per clip, but sometimes more.  Sometimes the work that the IPS does carries over between Pr sessions, and sometimes it doesn't.
Smaller frame sizes and lower bit rates in AVCHD video helps make the editing experience in Pr much better.
My hope is that the upcoming 4.1 update will address some of these AVCHD issues.

  • Premiere Pro identifies 25fps AVCHD 1080p video as 100fps

I recently purchased a new Panasonic camcorder (UK PAL standard) which shoots full HD at 25fps progressive.  When I import the clips into Premiere Pro (CS6 or CC) both programs report the file properties to be 100fps, as does Windows 7.  In fact, every program I can lay my hands on reports the codec frame rate to be 100fps.
I’m at a loss to understand why.  If I record video with the camcorder set to 25fps interlaced, Premiere Pro reports the frame rate as 50fps – which I took to mean 50 fields/sec which at least makes sense.  The 100fps has me beat though.  I should say that everything works fine, there’s no change in operation or use.
    Any ideas anyone?

I have no idea why, but when I checked the file information today, it is correct.  The only difference was yesterday I copied the files from the camcorder to HDD, and then checked the file properties through Premiere Pro immediately afterwards.  On finding the strange fps values, I then of course tried other programs, all of which reported the same wrong file properties.
The only difference between today and yesterday was my PC was shut down last night and restarted today.  I can only assume, some file system cache hasn't updated/purged and hence the bizarre values.  Everything is fine now.

  • Premiere Pro keeps crashing when using overwrite (.) shortcut in Source Monitor

When editing a clip in the source monitor and then using the (.) key to overwrite the clip onto my timeline Premiere Pro keeps crashing. A crash with a very similar error message was fixed in the new CC release. The bug report in that case involved creating a multi-cam sequence, so it might not be directly related.
If you have a chance to download the CC trial, we'd be interested to know whether the crash remains in the new version.

  • Premier Pro is adding frames in the beginning of the video

    Hello guys,
I have the following problem with Premier Pro.
    1. Several videos with different frame rate (24 fps and 30 fps)
    2. I create new sequence 24 fps
    3. Import videos to project and set them all to 24 fps via Interpret Footage.
    4. Now I am adding video to sequence, but Premier is adding 3 frames in the beginning from totally different video.
    What is that?
Record of my screen is here
Adobe Premier adds 3 frames in the beginning of the videofile | Screencast-O-Matic - Free online screen recorder for ins…

I'm not sure why or how PPro is inserting frames from a different clip. But before digging into that, it might be worth exploring why you're using Interpret Footage to change the frame rate. In case you're not aware, Premiere Pro manages mixed frame rates automatically, so you don't have to do anything if you want the 30fps clips to play at normal speed in a 24fps sequence. In fact, changing the frame rate changes a clip's duration and playback speed.

I don't dare open any old project. help!

    Hi there!
I´ve updated to latest version and then opened my project and got this error.
Then I found in a forum that I should delete the ADOBE folder in \my documents
I´ve deleted and then I could open the file again.
But the .MP4 and some other video files doesn´t open.
I saw that the 'Effect Presets and Custom Items.prfpset' file on \my documents\adobe\premiere Pro\8.0\Profile-myprofilename was causing the error.
I also saw in other forum that I should rename Adobe folder to old.adobe from \userfolder\appdata\roaming and \userfolder\appdata\local but this hasn´t solved the problem.
I tried also to reinstall Quicktime and K-Lite Codec Pack but the problem persists.
    Have you found any solution??
