Windows 7 Professional Hangs at Please Wait

Hey, so I'm working on an HP Compaq 6000 Pro.  The other week it stopped allowing logins.  I can get into safe mode, but beyond that it's
hit and miss.  I have gone over a few articles, and I've tried a few things with temporary results.  When it first happened, I ran Start Up Repair and it proceeded to the login screen.  The next day it stuck at Please Wait again, so I ran sfc.exe,
got no errors, and then did a clean boot.  That time it allowed me to login twice I believe.  The next day it hung at Please Wait again, so I disabled NLA, Windows Error Reporting, and Network List Services, and, again, it allowed me to login.  It
stopped again the next day, and everything has been a hit and miss trial.  Occasionally it will allow me to login, but not even close to consistently.  I found multiple hotfixes, but everyone I try either says the update is not applicable, or it
will start to install, and then simply say the update was not installed.  This machine is the only one experiencing the issue on the domain.  In addition, I had
read a few times that a possible cause was WMI and one its repositories building up too much, or something along those lines.  I just checked C:\Windows\System32\WBEM\Repository , which I read was the actual folder, and the size is only 20 Mb.  I
believe this rules out another cause, and my only idea.  The last thing I tried was disabling IPv6, which I heard could fix the issue, and got nothing.  I
want to avoid just wiping and reloading Windows, since all of the user's data is on the local machine.  Any advice?

Hi,
Please understand that there are lots of factors can lead to logon hang. To make the issue clear, please paste exact error messages from Event Viewer directly. Then I will look into it and try to find the culprit.
What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer
Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the Error logs to a public folder and share the URLs with us.
Based on the current situation, I would also suggest you try the following:
1. Check for the updated drivers especially the network adapter drivers on your computer. if the drivers are not updated then, try updating the drivers.
2. Perform a system restore using the Windows installation disc.
Refer the link provided below to run the system restore using the system recovery options.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7
In addition, when the issue occurs, you can press Ctrl+Shift+Esc combine key to launch Task Manager, on the Processes tab, find the process which is taking the most usage of the CPU.
Please also refer to the links below to check the issue:

  • SCVMM service causeing Windows Server 2012 R2 to hang at "Please Wait"

I have a problem with the VMM service causing my server to no longer boot. I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 server running on Hyper-V that has only SCVMM installed on it, I was getting ready to install SCCM on it after I finished migrating the machines to
a new hard drive. After I moved the VM's all of them ran fine except the server with VMM on it, I spent plenty of time on Bing and Google trying to find out why my server was stuck at Please Wait and I found nothing, not one thing. I eventually disabled the
SCVMM services in msconfig from safe mode and now it boots fine.
It cant be because I moved it because I had a previous VM that was my WSUS, Essentials, RRAS, RDGW and one i installed VMM on it and rebooted the same happened.
This did not happed when I was setting this up at my other deployment for another company

I think have fixed it, I set it as disabled as I updated VMM to Update Rollout 1 and 2 and applying the changes described in the update description. Then once complete I set the service as Automatic (Delayed Start).
If anyone else has this issue pleases share your experiences here.
Now its has returned, not this sever only has VMM 2012 R2 (with all updates) and only that no other services

  • Windows 8.1 stuck on "please wait" after update

Hello. I recently got a new hp all in one 23-p010 about 2 weeks ago, and i have run into a problem. Last night i was getting ready for bed so i pressed update and shut down, and windows began to update and shut down like normal. The next morning, i turn it on it and i see the hp logo, then as its booting i see a blue sceen with the word "please wait". Now this has happened before but it leaves in seconds so i thought it was normal, however it has been hours and the screen has not disappeared. I cannot boot into my computer. I have tried shut downs but nothing. I really could use some help here. Thanks.

  • P105-S6024 Recovery Disk Hangs at "Please Wait" Solved!

Perhaps this solution is posted somewhere on this forums but I could not find it so I posted it anyways.  I was having a problem with the Toshiba factory recovery disk for this model hanging just as soon as it finishes loading the Ramdisk.  Just as soon as it got past asking you for a F6 drivers disk and goes to "Please Wait" it would just hang and not boot.
After looking all weekend I decided to call Toshiba and they said to pull the battery out, unplug the laptop, and hold the power button down for 10 seconds.  That seemed to do the trick.  Thanks Toshiba.

If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 457-7777.

I realize that I could have done a backup and wiped the drive. I did not want to do that since the client had spent a lot of time training his voice recognition software.
Well, "reality" and the "wants of a residential customer" are often mutually exclusive.  You can "want" there to be a magical, miracle fix, but there simply is not.  Your time is worth money, and the more days you sit around and wait for this problem to suddenly resolve itself, the less $ you make per hour.

I have a client who powered off his computer during Windows updates. After that, Windows updates would take upward of 24 hours to run, and would not even install successfully. The updates would roll back and he would have to start over. I tried doing a refresh, but it did no good. I also booted to the command prompt and ran the following commands:ren system system.001ren software software.001Now I cannot seem to get it to boot to Windows. It is stuck at the screen saying "Please wait" and will not go any further. Any ideas how to salvage this Windows install without doing a complete restore? I want to avoid the complete restore because this client is an elderly gentleman who had a lot of custom settings in Windows and also was using Dragon Naturally Speaking which he had spent time to get working right for his voice.

  • Windows server 2012 stuck at 'Please Wait' screen

I did read through some of the post on a similar scenario with 2008 R2 or earlier versions stuck on "Please Wait" screen while logging in.
There were some suggestions about disabling NLA service or applying the hotfix- KB Article 983551. I'm not sure if this is applicable for Windows 2012 server.
These are virtual machines joined to the domain. After a reboot I'm able to login to the server.
I'm now starting to see this issue occuring on multiple servers on the domain. Can someone advice on this please?

Do you have all the latest patches applied to the system?
Is there any consistency in your environment as to which servers are exhibiting this behavior?  For example, servers with a specific MB, BIOS level, firmware, etc.
    All systems listed on www.windowsservercatalog.com?
Latest BIOS, Firmware, Drivers on all systems?
This is not typical.  It is something in your environment, so you need to look for what is different about your environment.

  • UCCX 7.01 hangs after "Please wait while System Parameters are saved"

Have a new system, here is the order in which I completed the steps:
    OS disk
    OS Patches
    installed CRS
    Installed SQL
    installed SR5
    OS patches again
    initial config
When going through the initial configuration I get to enter the information for HR Sessions and Codec and it tells me "Please wait while System Parameters are saved".  After a few minutes it refreshes to a blank page and the system is not configured.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Rebuilt the damned thing and started from Scratch.  (Need to add to the release notes “UCCX server must be rebuilt a minimum of 3 times” as it seems this always happens.)  After this things are happy.  I did see a differnent set of screens during the initial configuration but wasn't smart enough to document them.
    1.       Installed OS
    2.       Installed UCCX 7.01
    3.       Installed SQL for UCCX 7
    4.       Ran Initial Configuration
    5.       Installed SR5 for UCCX 7

I purchased a T410 about a month ago. Intermittently, the computer hangs for several seconds when moving between thumbnails on the task bar and sometimes when moving to the menu bar for any of the Microsoft Office applications that I am running.
Are there any solutions to this problem. It is very irritating!

I have the same annoying problem when I select text or instances like you mentioned, I tried figuring what whats causingit with task manager but when it hangs up, I don't see anything out of the ordinary (CPU shows same 2% usage, RAM shows the same almost 2 gb which is usually what it shows)

  • ITunes 7.2: "Please wait while Windows configures iTunes" on every startup

I am running into the some issue. With all of the problems everyone else is running into with the 7.2 install - I am happy that this is all I have going on - but it is getting irrating. EVERY time I start iTunes I get the windows installer starting with the "please wait while Windows configures iTunes."
I have uninstalled, used a reg cleaner, reinstalled with 7.2.0.35. QT runs without issues. I am not sure where to go from here.
When I ran the install - i had the windows installer create a log. I found the following error in it:
    Action start 13:15:02: AppSearch.
Info 1402. Could not open key: HKEYCLASSESROOT\pcast. System error 5. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
Action ended 13:15:02: AppSearch. Return value 1.
I ran the installer as Administrator so permissions should have been covered.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve tried the indicated solution and it didn’t work. I gave full permissions for Administrators, my user (which is an Administrator) and Everyone, for every single key and sub-key. It didn’t work.
Then, I deleted the .pcast. When I opened iTunes again it came back without the permissions again.
How long it will take for Apple’s programmers to correct this garbage? I’ve read several forums where people reformatted their computers to make it work again. This is simply unbelievable! I’m using the last version (7.4.2.4). I’ve found people complaining since version 7.2.x.
Ah! I forgot. Of course, the problem is the Windows Vista.

  • V570 hangs during boot up - message "please wait"

I just got a new V570 Lenovo IdeaPad laptop on Sunday. It was working fine until Monday. I tried to start it up and it paused at the Please Wait screen. I didn't know what to do so I held the power button until it shut down. I then left it for a bit and it started up fine. Now, this has happened again and I am guessing it is not good. How can I fix it?

    UPDATE - OFFICIAL LENOVO SOLUTION
Please follow the link above to the Lenovo support site - this tip covers a software hang condition / please wait message caused by an interaction with the fingerprint reader and veriface software which may develop under certain conditions on V470/V570 and B470/B570 systems.
who knows - you may have fixed it (DMB stack in CMOS).  edit: removed suggestion about safe start since it didn't work..
The removing the battery and the power cord is similar to what we had to do with desktop mobos - unplug it , wait 10 seconds, press power-on a few times to bleed the power off the PSU, and then plug it in and start up - it takes power off the BIOS and causes it to re-create the DMB stack the next time you boot.  DMB = info about each device .
I also advise you to get current with MS updates (not necessarily all the optional ones!).

  • Website upgraded to CR2008/VS2008, reptviewer-refresh hangs with a wait msg

Crystal Report IX.2/VS2005 website app converted to CR2008/VS2008:  compiles clean, runs, but reportviewer-refresh hangs with  "Please wait while the document is being processed" message.  Can anybody suggest a solution or hypothesis?
    detail:
I've converted a legacy Crystal IX.2/Visual Studio 2005 web-site application to Crystal 2007/Visual Studio 2008.  The compile is free of all errors and warnings.  The application operates correctly and the Crystal report-viewer screen comes up with the correct initial page of information.  But when I click a Next/Prev/First/ast icon, I get a stuck with a perpetual "Please wait while the document is being processed" message.  In addition, the time for the Reportviewer to appear with the first page of the report information is considerably slower (2X, 3X) than it is with the original VS2005/CR IX.2 website project.  We are using ODBC to Oracle 11g.
I've searched for hits on the web and in this forum, and have tried various experiments with the registration, etc. - but nothing fixes this for me.  Can anybody suggest a hypothesis or solution?
    Thanks

Re: "Need more info. Are you using ASP.NET or are you using classic ASP and the RDC report engine?
    Thanks Don,
We're using ASP.Net.  The website project was originally written using Visual Studio 2005, Crystal Reports XI.2, and VB.Net.
The app is normally run on IIS 6.0, but I am executing the converted version in the Visual Studio 2008 debugger, i.e. without IIS.  The browser is IExplorer 8.0.
I have copied and upgraded the project to Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports 2008, still VB.Net.  It compiles clean, without any error messages of warning.  When I run the app, the various report selection pages appear correctly, and the correct report-viewer initial page appears as well (although in  60 seconds versus 15 seconds originally.  The main problem is that the viewer does not refresh when I click the next or last icon, a wait message popup appears perpetually.  The data access is ODBC to Oracle 11g.
For comparion, below are the assembly sections of the web.config file from both the original and upgraded versions of the project.  If there is any more information that would be helpful, I can post or email it.  Thanks for looking into this,
    Robert Brandon, Raytheon

  • Oracle 11g, 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

We just changed over to Windows 7 64 Bit now we trying to find out what version of Fusion Middleware will run on Windows 7 64 bit. Most posting say you can't install
Oracle 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit OS, but we have found a few that say they have found away to install 11g 64 bit. Not one of them shows you the install
from start to finish and some of the posting go back to 2009!
If this has been a problem from 2009 - present can some tell why Oracle has not provided a fix or update for Windows 7 64 bit and are they going to in the future?
If anyone knows how install Oracle 11g 64 bit, Forms 11g 64 bit on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit please let me know!
    Thanks!
    Monty

    Monty,
I assume that you mean the developer tools? They are kind of in limbo with 64-bit support for the dev tools, but if you want to get the latest (as of today) release working, you can do this:
    1). Install a 64-bit JDK
2). Install WLS 10.3.4 generic (use the 64-bit java)
    3). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.2 (install only, don't configure)
    4). Install Forms/Reports 11.1.1.4 (install only, don't configure)
5). Edit your PATH system variable so that it doesn't contain any parenthesis. I did this by creating a junction point for c:\program files (x86) and using the junction point in the path
6). Run the configuration utility to create the forms/reports domain. Be sure to specify the dev tools
7). Look in the start menu for the Reports Builder icon. It will be pointing to a batch file. Edit that batch file to comment out the lines that print a message and exit (because you're on 64-bit)
Not officially supported, but it works for me.

  • Please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013

After installing visual community 2013 and rebooting visual studio works fine but all other microsoft office programs display "please wait while windows configures microsoft visual studio professional 2013" and continues the installation for
about 1 minute before the program starts. I tried deleting mso.dll and reinstalling but it is still the same. Any help would be appreciated?

    Hi iwallhead,
Then can your VS work fine? Anyway, please upload the installation log.
Use a tool named collect.exe to collect the log file. Download
    collect.exeand
run it directly. The utility creates a compressed cabinet of all the VS and .NET logs to
    %TEMP%\vslogs.cab. Please upload the
    vslogs.cab file on onedrive.
I will help check if any install error exists.
    Best regards
