Windows 7 Registry Problems

I am a very satisfied F-Secure Internet Security customer. Since I liked the product so much I decided to try the Booster program. The Booster program has caused my nothing but problems since I installed it!!My Dell i7 pc developed the following issues since I installed and used Booster:Booster Version-2.3.2.657, Windows 7-64 bit service Pack 1,My Microsoft Office programs would not open. Word and Excel are asking for the product key but when I enter it will not accept, MS message says it’s a good key. (I went to Microsoft web site and found a repair utility. After running the utility I was able to get MS Office to accept my product key. Office is up and running.)Every time I reboot a screen asks me to install HP Product Essential MSI and HP Photo Essential.MSI., I have not used this program in 2 years and it is no longer installed on my PC. The error message is "the feature is on a network resource that is unavailable".The Quicken by Intuit program had the following error message when I tried to open, program files are damaged, reinstall the software. (I reinstalled the Quicken software and the program is up and running.)F-Secure Internet Security program was damaged! Upon PC boot up I received a message asking for my subscription key. I tried to reinstall the software but the install kept failing, no reason was given. (I called F-Secure support and technician explained what had to be done to reinstall. My F-Secure Internet Security is up and working.)The password protection program I have installed also lost its subscription key. Fortunately that was up and running once I entered the key.My issue for today!! When I go to Control Panel and click “View Devices and Printers” the window does not open. (I went to the Microsoft web site and found several fixes, neither worked. They suggested using: ”Fix It” and going to “services” to start Bluetooth. I did both and I still cannot access Devices and Printers). The Booster program is missing from my PC. I did not uninstall the program. I do have a valid subscription key for 3 PC’s.All my saved user names for Google, banking sites, credit card sites are gone! I never save passwords, I only save user names. Why would your program delete user names? The wallpaper on my desktop was gone, I tried to reinstall it but it would not take? After my third reboot the original wallpaper was back? When I installed Booster I used the following features on day 1:“Clean” Delete unnecessary filesSave PowerClean registrySpeed up registry
“Speed Up”Boost start upIncrease Internet speedImprove drive speedI did not experience any of the above problems after I completed the above actions. But I did not reboot until the following day.On the 2 day of using Booster I used the following features:“Upate”Clear browsing historyUpdate applications – I updated the followingBroadcom Net XtremeRealtek High Definition AudioRemove Applications – I removedSearch Tool BarAsk Tool BarAfter a cold boot all of the above started to happen.I thought this was supposed to be an easy product to use? What would happen to a novice PC user who installed and used this program? It appears that mu Windows Registry has been upset.Additional informationI purchased a 3 key licenses from Booster. I installed Booster on my wife’s Sony Windows 7 laptop. She ran the clean and speed up programs from Booster on her PC. She is experiencing many of the same issues.Booster is still on the PC but F-Secure Internet Security is missing.View Devices and Printers will not open. The Intel 5 processor now takes 5+ minutes to boot up.MS Office is missing from programs. When booted Windows gives a message that it can’t log in her user. It defaults to a guest user. How do I get up and running again? How do I get my money back? Please do not tell me to call Microsoft and HP to get my problems resolved. Booster caused the problems and I expect you to supply answers.John M.US

Ben,
I am confident that Booster caused problems on both of my PC's. It is not fate or hardware problems. I suggest that your support people contact me directly. Just because your support people could not recreate the problem does not mean Booster is not responsible!!
My Dell pc is up and running. Whenever I cold boot I get a message that F-Secure would not start and I would have to boot again. F-Secure works after the second boot. Why do I only get this error for F-secure?
As far as my second Sony pc goes, I had the same thought as your support people. I thought that I might have a hardware problem. We are both incorrect. I tested memory and hard drive and both work. After several hours of trial and error attempt to access Windows I was finally able to get in under Safe Mode. I went to restore my start point and found the only 1 point left, for July 15th. I am back onto the PC now. The Booster, F-Secure, and Office programs are all missing. The Laptop is slower than ever.
I think it is about time that Booster support starts taking some responsibility for a poorly written program.
I need my problem fixed and your employer needs to do it. I have invested 6 to 8 hours of my time fixing problems I did not have until I installed Booster.
I am not going to go away until my issues are resolved.

  • Detection of windows registry problem

I'm using illustrator 5.1 on PC (win 8.1). Currently the software has prompted with the message issuing the detection of windows registry problem. I can still use it if I choose allowing it to get fixed immediately. But it still prompted every time I open it. What can I do to fix it as I lost the installation disc?

I was finally able to solve this by:
    1. copying a Sun/swdp directory from a different computer to this one.
    2. tried to uninstall, this failed.
    3. reinstalled swdp over this directory, specifying server integration. This failed.
    4. reinstalled swdp over this directory, specifying no server integration. This succeeded.
    5. uninstall. Delete swdp directory.
    6. reinstall fresh.

I have tried to uninstall all Abode Acrobat installations but one file remains and refuses to be uninstalled. It gives me this error : Error applying Transforms . Hi all,
Sylonious, did you manage to sort this problem out? I have been experiencing similar problems. I think my problem was because I had many different versions of JDKs. I have done a complete re-install. I would be really grateful to you (and anyone else) for help with this problem.
I have re-installed JSDK1.4.2_03, set the "path" variable to "C:\JSDK1.4.2_03".
When I compile using "javac" I get an error saying "javac" is not recognised.
When I compile using "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_03\bin\javac Freq.java" no error is thrown.
Every time I try to run a java file, I always get the NoClassDefFound error. When run with the -verbose option, files are loaded from C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\bin - is this correct?
I have removed all previous references to java in the registry editor.
    Please help !
    Regards,
    Vipul

  • Problem with Windows Registry

When i open illustrator i get this dialogue box that tells me: Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem in the windows registry which needs to be corrected for Illustrator to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now? Yes No
After i click Yes it works fine i just wanted to know if i need to do something to my computer so that this message doesn't come up every time i try to open Illustrator.
    Thank you for your help.

Listen to what did Silkrooster have said.
Windows registry is something essentially for every program you are nunning (not only Illustrator) so if you wanna go any further on your own, I suggest you to make a back up of your actuall registry just in case that things come out naughty.
Then, the first thing I will suggest, is to use a tool for cleaning windows registry (i.e. ccleaner, do some google) and do some scans several times until the program doesn't find any issues. Then try to see if you still have the same issue, if you did then I suggest you to uninstall your Illustrator copy, run again the ccleaner tool to delete unwanted registry addres and then install again Illustrator.
That should fix the problem unless it's something bigger in which case you might need to install your corrupted OS either by fixing it or by formatting your hard drive.

  • Acrobat 8: JobOptionsFolder / PDF Admin Settings in Windows registry

    Hello,
Systems are Windows XPSP2, Acrobat Professional 8.1.2
We would like to share *.joboption files via a readonly server share (W2K3 Server).
In the windows registry we find two values with the default path to the *.joboptions files:
    1. HKLM\Software\Adobe\PDF Admin Settings\, Default (Reg_SZ)
    2. HKLM\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Distiller\8.0\ , JobOptionFolder (Reg_SZ)
    both registry values point to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\"
When we change these values to "\\server\share\", which is write protected by security settings, and copy the installed *.joboption files to this location, all seems to work fine.
The users joboptions directory found here:
    HKCU\Software\Adobe\PDF Settings\, Default (Reg_SZ)
    pointing to C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings\
we would like to leave as is.
Will we run in troubles, if we share *.joboptions files as described? Problems known with readonly joboptions on a server share?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Where are power options saved in the Windows registry?

The problem is that a customer IT department did something wrong during deploying GP preferences. Now nothing is working and we have to delete all settings, that the new GP preferences I newly created will work.
Now GP preferences is not working on 300 clients. I don't know what they have done. If we reinstall the clients, GP preferences (power settings) are working fine. They have only used GP preferences for power settings. No other changes before the problem started.
My senior manager told me to delete power options / settings in the Windows registry. So I can delete this?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{025A5937-A6BE-4686-A844-36FE4BEC8B6D}

    Hi
Where are power options / settings from Windows 7 saved in the Windows registry? We deploy the energy settings via GPO’s.
    Many thanks in advance

  • Windows Registry error when starting Illustrator.

I have CS5.5 Master Collection. because of the following problem, I downloaded, last week, all the updates via the website. So Illustrator is now v15.1.0
After the update I get an error every time I start Illustrator that says:
    Adobe Illustrator
[Warning icon] Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem in
the windows registry which needs to be
corrected for Illustrator to work properly.
Would you like Illustrator to correct the
    problem now?
    [Yes][No]
I always click 'yes'. This is persistent since updating to v15.1.0 as it happens every time I start Illustrator. It doesn't seem to happen in any other app mof the Master Suite Collection, although I haven't started EVERY app yet.
After clicking yes, Illustrator runs (seemingly) normally.
There is no Error number indicated.

Are you getting the error “Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem in the windows registry which needs to be corrected to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now”? If you are it is because Adobe’s update software did a number on some settings.
The only way I have found to get rid of that error message “Adobe Illustrator has detected a problem in the windows registry which needs to be corrected to work properly. Would you like Illustrator to correct the problem now?” is to:
    Close all CS5 applications
Right click shortcut to Adobe Illustrator Cs5
Tell it to run as Administrator.
This will give enough permissions for Adobe to fix the registry items that it corrupted in the first place!

    Sanjeev:
Maybe you can help. I haven't been able to resolve this one "small" problem which is preventing me from rolling out iWS6.0 SP2. I created a new instance of the server using "Add Server" so that I have 2 Web sites (e.g. test1.domain.com and test2.domain.com), but the 2nd server instance is pointing to the same HTML location as the first (i.e. http://test2.domain.com takes you to the same location as http://test1.domain.com). What do I need to change and where to fix this? Need a VERY quick answer to this to implement a production Web server. I've tried the suggestions made so far (see: http://softwareforum.sun.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=181&RPAGEID=135&HOID=50B500000008000000966A0000&UCATEGORY_0=_23_%24_6_&UCATEGORY_S=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_0=server+instances&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_S=0) but nothing has resolved this problem. If you have any ideas at all, I'd appreciate if you could let me know :)

  • Adobe Reader X 10.1.1.33 Installer Puts Gibberish In Windows Registry

    Operating system: Windows 7 x64 SP1.
The Adobe Reader X version 10.1.1.33 Installer creates sixteen values in your Windows Registry that are all gibberish.
Take a look at the values created under the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\P roducts\68AB67CA7DA73301B744AA0100000010\Features
How does all this incorrect data affect the running of Adobe Reader?
This invalid data does cause a problem with a program I use to examine the Windows registry. Upon further examination the data in the "Help" value contains and invalid character in position 82 (0x0002).
Can anybody from Adobe tell me when this bug might be fixed?

The program I was using, which alerted me to the problem, takes a snapshot of the registry and creates an .XML file. When this file is opened in Internet Explorer 9 it only displays a blank page instead of a tree view of the registry. Using the developement tools, that come with IE9, I was able to determine that the reason it displays a blank page was that it halts when it comes to an invalid data character in the .XML file. I then opened regedit and examined the "Help" data value in the registry to see if the 0x0002 character was actually in there, and it was.
The whole point of my post is not the invalid character in the registry but all the junk that is put there by the Adobe Reader installer.
Can somebody from Adobe please comment as to why your installer is putting what appears to be alot of junk into the Windows Registry?
    thanks,

  • Problem downloading itunes using IE8. Registry problem with iTunesSetup.exe file

I am trying to install iTunes and have come up against the Registry problem and Windows saying the file needs a signature.  I have tried deleting the browsing history and searching and deleting all copies of the iTunesSetup.exe file.  I have even begun again with QuickTime.  All to no avail.
    I'm using Windows XP.
Does anyone have any further ideas for this problem please?
    Thank you!!

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • Illustrator Launch Error: Windows registry was not in the expected state.

    Hi All,
I just upgraded to CS3 Design Premium, and I'm I'm getting the following error when I launch Illustrator:
"The Windows registry was not in the expected state. PLease run the Illustrator installer to correct this problem. Illustrator will continue to run, but may not operate properly."

What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 installed?
How far into the opening of the program do you get? Do you get to the Expert or Quick workspaces?
And, if so, how long can you stay there? What are you doing when you get this message, opening a new project
or opening an existing one that has been saved/closed or just trying to launch the program from the desktop icon.
Are you running the program Run As Administrator and from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
Do you have the McAfee antivirus program? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer
    with Premiere Elements 12?
What video card/graphics card does your computer use? Have you verified at the web site of the manufacturer of the
card that the video card/graphics card driver is up to date?
If you do not know, check the Device Manager/Display
Adapters to determine if you have 1 or 2 cards.
Depending on your answers, the next step will be
Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way.
(If you can get into the program long enough to go to Help Menu/Sign Out, please do that to deactivate the program
before going to the uninstall in Control Panel area.)
Do a run through with ccleaner (both the regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from
    incomplete uninstalls and reinstalls.
    https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Reinstall the program with the antivirus and firewalls disabled.
(If you have McAfee as the antivirus, that may be problem, and we can take care of that without having to go
    through this uninstall/ccleaner/reinstall.)
Let us start here and then decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Re: after installing SP8 Registry Problems

I had the same Problem, my solution was:
Copy the BEA Weblogic 5.1.0 key including all values into a new key named
    5.1.0sp7
A rename should do as well, but I tend to be cautious!

    Facing Same problem
with my wlstartup.dll as old SP6 file things work fine.
Urgent help required in SP8 Installation

Iam using Reports 6i on Windows NT.All the reports 6i windows are became transporent windows, displying problem (repainting problem). I did fresh installation. But iam not able to solve this.

I am using same fonts on all these plateforms.Look more closely at those fonts. They may have the same names, but the Windows 2000 versions may be larger (able to render more characters).
