Windows 7, removed Administrator rights from my user with Administrator disabled..how solve without restore everything please??
Cause drag&drop was disabling each time there was an high privilege process, I tough to fix this annoying trouble removing my user from Administrator group..in fact I fixed that situation.
But NOW I have another serious problem: my user is not able to do nothing, and my administrator user was disabled and as only belonging to homeuser group I cannot enable it!!! In this moment I am crying because I have fear I will need to restore everything, please do you know a way to enable the administrator user again even if without admin privilege?? Do you know a software that fix it or an also not clean way to avoid a complete restore??

If the account is not admin on the domaincontrollers and the account is not member of domain admins or any other privileged AD group, the account has only user privileges on AD and thus cannot perform actions like creating and managing accounts,
groups, OUs,policies, sites, ...in other words cannot potentially ruin Active Directory.
I think that is a pretty big difference.
In fact, it is bad practice to perform you daily server management with an AD privileged account.
In regards of file access. The domain administrator will be just an admin, and thus has the privilies assigned to the local admin group, just as any other admin. But if it are different accounts they might be member of different groups assigning different
privileges. Always be carefull when assuming resulting privileges will be the same.

Thanks, but I've done that several times & it still says I need administraive privileges. I had itunes installed with no problems until I did the latest update. After that it just disappeared, so I tried reinstalling. Now I can't sync my phone. This is so frustrating!

Removing a role from a user

Hi All,
My requirement is to remove a role from the user so the resources assigned to that role has to be deleted once the role is removed from the user. But I am having some trouble to remove the role in the workflow.
I am checking out the view of type User and removing the role from waveset.roles and then checking in the view. I don't see any errors but the role is not getting removed from the user and in turn the end resource is not getting deleted.
Can anybody post some points like what is the correct way to remove the role from the user in the workflow itself.

Nevermind, actually I managed to solve the issue, there was mistake in the express code.
I have one question, can you help me? I am removing a role from a user and for example there are 2 resources (A and B) assigned to the role, while removing the role from the user it is deleting the account in both resources A and B but I don't want to delete the account in resource B. Is there a way to do this?
I am the checking out and checking in the user view and I am using the following code but it is not working. It is deleting the account from both the resources.

Windows key + left and right arrows not working with RemoteApp windows

My office is deploying RemoteApps to replace certain locally installed applications. I, and many of my coworkers, have 2-3 monitors and the Windows
+ left and right "snap" function has been an extremely convenient way to juggle multiple windows across multiple monitors. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work with RemoteApp windows. Does anyone know a way to get this working?

Based on my test, I agree with Keith Langmead, it seems Windows key + left or right key cannot work with remoteapp.

Adobe Updater can be run only by users with administrator rights error on 2003 termianl server

I just installed the latest security update of 8.1.7 on my two terminal servers. Now when each users logs in, they get the following error.
Insufficient Rights (title)
Adobe Updater can be run only by usrs with administrator rights.
They simply click OK and it goes away but it is very annoying. It seems like every time their is an update to Adobe Reader, something goes wrong.
Does anybody have any thoughts on how to stop the Adobe Updater from loading when my users login? Thanks,

Here is the solution I found.
"Renaming %program files%/Common Files/Adobe/updater5 to something else removed the error."
This seems like a brute force approach, but it does work. I checked the event logs after doing this and don't see any errors in the App or System logs. This folder is the location of AdobeUpdater.exe and all of the Adobe .cer files, so it makes sense that this works, but seems like it should generate other errors...
This is not how I wanted to solve the problem but it did solve it.

ActiveSync requiring administrative rights to synchronize data with Windows Communication apps

We are currently testing W8.1 Update 1 in our corporate environment and have run into an issue when attempting to synchronize the corporate exchange accounts with the Windows Communication apps (Mail, Calendar, People). The first problem we encountered was
the requirement for each user to log into a Microsoft account just to access the Communication apps, this was handled through GPO by enabling the "Allow Microsoft accounts to be optional" policy. We could then launch the application, were prompted
for exchange server information, but then upon attempting to synchronize received an error message stating that "To sync this account, you first need to make your Windows user account an administrator." Obviously we have no desire to make all of
our users administrators, but for the purpose of testing we added the user account to the administrators group. The same error message appears! A quick search revealed that changing the UAC to a lower setting would resolve the problem, and sure enough we then
received a prompt to Enforce Policies and synchronization completed.
This can't possibly be the intention, that every Windows 8 user using ActiveSync is required to be an administrator and has to lower the UAC. We did determine that once synchronization has been configured, the administrative rights can be removed and UAC
can be increased once again, but this is a ridiculous option.
I would really appreciate an explaination of the reasoning if this is infact the intended setup, and if it is not, then what we are doing wrong. Thank you.

Also, Microsoft's recommendation and best practice is that if you are a domain administrator that you have 2 accounts. One for your everyday user which is restricted in the same way that every other user is and a second for your administration role.

How to stop administrator rights for an user

We had given the default user in all Mac systems administrator rights while installing the OS 10.3.X
Now, as per our new policy, users should not have administrator rights. We have one administator login on the systems.
Can someone help me on disbling the users Admin rights withour affect their data?

You should backup the NetInfo database before making any changes. Run the 500.daily script from the command line. You can copy the command from this post and paste it into the Terminal application:
sudo sh /etc/daily
Press the return key. Enter you admin password at the password prompt and press the return key.
Open the NetInfo Manager and navigate to the group admin. You need to unlock the NetInfo Manager and enter your admin password. Remove the user from the field users. Click the lock to save the changes. If this doesn't work I'll hesitantly post the command line method.

Well it is not easy to predict what may fail. Adding a new user, changing authorizations, adding a new folder or object (eg. report) may fail if the required rights are missing.
At least SELECT, UPDATE, INSERT, DELETE access rights on all CMS tables are mandatory. During the installation of pathces and service packs the authorization to create database objects (like tables or views) may be required.

Unable to remove mozilla folder from C:\Users\Username\Appdata\

We're trying to remove Firefox as its messing with the roaming profiles on the server,
we're unable to remove the following folders
c:\program files (x86)\mozilla firefox
c:\users\username\appdata\mozilla,
error message says need permission from administrators (we're logged in as full domain administrator)

The problem lies in the administration patches. Somewhere one or more of the security updates was missed or ignored. The admin pointers to the permissions on the stack in the HAL layer are pointing to a NULL field. This is a common problem with MS(c) based OS's. Solutions: (1) Remove and Re-apply security updates in order. (2) reload and allow the OS' to catch all the updates. (3) Scream at MS(c) until they tell you what update you missed.

Users with Administrator rights not being allowed to install programs.

I have 3 users in my office that are not able to download and install programs due to a security prompt that says that they are unable to install the program due to not having administrator rights. But in the users menu the user accounts are setup with
full administrator rights. Is this a common problem?

Just did an Archive & Install of a MacBook Pro 3.1, upgraded from Tiger to Leopard , original thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2309825&tstart=0). I did all available updates, added it to an active directory and set all network admins to be administrators (did in root admin account). I even had the user log in and manually set their account to be administrator. Yet the user tried to update their Itunes and was prompted to submit account information, the machine didn't take their info nor did it take mine, i had to use the root admin account to upgrade the software. Is there something i'm missing here? Open to any suggestions.
