Windows 7 Restart issues after waking from sleep/hibernating on y430

I've installed windows 7  and installed all drivers but one driver that no one on this message board has solved yet (it is detected as an unknown device - ACPI/CPL0002) When I wake the computer from sleep and hibernating the computer cannot restart properly.  It would stop the hard drive after windows has finished the shut down process but the power lights will stay on. I then have to hold the power button down until the system powers off.
I have updated my y430 to the latest bios but this problem still persists.
Any idea on why this is?
Thanks

  • Macbook Retina with Mountain Lion issues after waking from sleep.

Macbook Retina with Mountain Lion has the spinning beach ball of death after waking from sleep a few times. Anyone else seeing this?  A fresh boot is very quick, but waking from sleep lags at times.  Then after a few times the spinning beachball of death appears and nothing is responsive making me reboot the machine.

I've been suffering from this too, and am currently trying this:
    http://www.ewal.net/2012/09/09/slow-wake-for-macbook-pro-retina/
Seems to be tied to this 'Power Nap' feature.  I tuned it for 12 hours instead of 24.

  • 2008 Mac Pro restarting itself after waking from sleep

Recently, my Mac Pro has taken to restarting itself unasked upon waking from sleep. I just moved to a town with a hot summer, and my room has no air conditioning and gets quite warm. Could the temperature in the room be causing this? I don't think so, because it happens in the cool of the morning after an all night sleep, too.
Another factor I just discovered is that one of my RAM chips has stopped showing up in the system profiler.

Replace the pair of DIMMs first.
    Monitor the temps inside.
    Install and use SmcFanControl 2.2
    Run Apple Hardware Test
You may want to try a clean system install to test with once you have the RAM replaced. Faulty RAM can cause all kinds of issues. And dirty files. Some deeper check for corrupt files than Disk Utility is probably in order.
There is a significant "Inrush-current" on boot and wake from sleep with the 2008s. They need good power, a 1500VA/900W UPS, and sensitive to other equipment on the same circuit.

  • Boot Camp, Expose, Trackpad & Dock issues after waking from sleep 10.6.1

    Hello,
    Here's my setup:
    13" MBP (Late 2009)
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
500 GB HD (Seagate Momentus Non G-Force version)
    OSX 10.6.1: 367 GB
Boot Camp MS Windows 7 RTM: 123 GB
All of this started yesterday. After pressing the power button to boot, the MBP would give me the Mac boot sound, and would not recognize that the "Option" key was depressed. This would cause the system to boot into Windows 7 due to the Boot Camp default setting. After trying to get the system to boot into OSX 5 times, I ended up changing the default boot OS to OSX. The MBP now boots into OSX, but still does not recognize the option key on bootup so it will boot into the Boot Camp default selection only.
The following Problems are plaguing my MBP after waking up from a sleep state when running OSX 10.6.1:
The trackpad is performing right clicks no matter how many fingers are used to click the trackpad.
The dock changes from the Un-Magnified setup to a Magnified setup.
Expose takes on average 1 to 2 seconds to switch from the tiled view back to a selected application. The animation is slow, and the windows are not properly displayed after selecting an application.
Except for the Option key not being recognized during boot, these problems go away if I restart, but come right back when the system enters the sleep mode. Help!!!
    Andy

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Having window location issues when waking from sleep

Since upgrading to Mavericks, sometimes when my Mini wakes from sleep the application windows are located off screen. At first I would quit and reopen most of the applications affected (especially FileMaker), but I find I can bring the windows back within view by going to Displays in System Preferences, changing the rotation, then cancelling after the redraw. My monitor is a BenQ GW2450H, but it doesn't seem like this is a monitor issue (no problems in System 10.7).

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.
Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • New Macbook Air - display issues after waking from sleep

I have a 1 day old Macbook Air 13" (2013) --- when I wake the machine from sleep, the display shows horizontal / vertical bands for a couple of seconds before clearing up to show the desktop. Please see attached picture. This doesn't happen 100% of the time but I've been able to repeatedly replicate this at intervals. Does this seem like a hardware problem or an OS related issue? Thanks.

    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Airport Issue After Waking From Sleep (White Unibody MacBook)

Hi all. On my new white unibody MacBook I have an Airport issue that always occurs after I wake the MacBook from sleep. I'm wondering if any of you have a similar issue and/or might not how to solve it.
Basically, when I wake the MacBook from sleep, it connects to my wireless network (and to whichever network I happen to be using at the time). A few seconds later, it will drop the connection, an exclamation mark will appear on top of the Airport icon on the menu bar, and when I click on the icon I see "Alert: No Internet Connection."
Then, if I just sit and wait, eventually Airport will connect to the network. But I have to wait -- selecting the network from the available list or turning Airport off and on doesn't help. And sometimes waiting isn't enough -- I sometimes have to go to "Create Network ..." and start all over to get a connection.
I've upgraded to 10.6.2 and the issue persists. I'd appreciate any help.

My wife's Macbook has EXACTLY the same problem and I've been through dozens of suggestions trying to fix it and the problem still persists.
The problem started right after I upgraded to Snow Leopard but also installed an Airport Extreme router and WPA2 wireless encryption. I've deleted all the networks, changed the order to put the Airport as the highest preference, deleted all the keys on the keychain, ran DiskUtility, all to no avail.
I'm not sure if this is somehow related to the Airport Extreme or occurs with any router. Also, have another MacBook Pro (unibody), and it does't have this problem connecting to the same Airport Extreme.
The other factor is it is intermittent --- and doesn't always fail. Rebooting the Macbook or the router will get it to re-connect, as will shutting off and turning on the Airport several times. But that's not a solution to the problem.
Apple needs to pay attention to this as many people are now reporting the problem.

  • Issues after waking from sleep

    Hi
I have 15" MBP SR 2.4ghz. I have noticed recently that my machine either doesn't show anything on it's display after waking by opening the lid. Also, sometimes it wakes up fine but then some programs don't launch properly or the cursor jitters along as I move it. I'm hoping its a buggy 10.5.2 update, as I never had this problem with 10.5.1.
    Any ideas?

    Hi
Having the same issues, and I have to do a hard reboot to get the display on again. Trying to figure out a pattern of when it happens and when not, will post back if I have any joy.

  • Internet issue after waking from sleep

    Hi,
When I wake my computer for being asleep, I can connect to my home wireless network, and the router shows that the internet connection is fine, yet webpages won't load in either Safari or Firefox, and I can't connect to Skype, MSN etc until I re-boot.
Any suggestions about what could be causing this minor, yet annoying issue?
    Cheers,
    Paul

When my Macbook wakes from sleep, I have the same issue. But all I have to do click on the Airport icon and reconnect to my network. I found that changing my network's password to WPA (instead of WEP, which I constantly had issues with) works every time. I would strongly advise against using a WEP password.
Ever since I installed the most recent update and changed my wireless to a WPA password, I've had no more problems connecting to the internet.

  • Toolbar issue after waking from sleep

When I wake my MBP Retina up from sleep, the top toolbar has recently been appearing a dark grey color instead of the normal translucent color. This problem is quickly fixed when I three finger scroll to another screen, but it is still annoying. I have had screen flicker issues recently so could this be related?

  • Keyboard Viewer window opens up after waking from sleep and screensaver

I have the MacBook keyboard freezing problem since upgrading to Leopard. One time (at band camp), I opened the Keyboard viewer so I could enter some text prior to rebooting. Now, the keyboard viewer pops up after every wake from sleep, return from screensaver (both password protected), and sporadically when switching/quitting applications.
I have tried rechecking and unchecking the "keyboard viewer" and "show input menu in menu bar" in System Preferences->International->Input Menu. While not a serious problem, it is rather annoying. How do I get the keyboard viewer to stop opening?
On a related note, there must be a script or program that is run every time the computer wakes from sleep and password protected screensaver that prompts for a password. Anyone know where this is located?
    Peter

Ok, I just tried that. I deleted com.apple.KeyboardViewerServer.plist. I then started my screensaver. When I came back in...the Keyboard Viewer was back and there was a new plist file that was created...so, something else must be controlling it.

  • Restarting after waking from sleep

I have a mid 2010 macbook pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.3 of which keeps restarting after being left in sleep mode for an hour or two. When waking from sleep mode, the mac functions for about 5 seconds, before restarting by itself. I have tried deleting certain plist files (as suggested by other posts) but that doesn't seem to have helped. I have also recently installed a new hard drive, but i continue to have the same problem.

  • Macbook Pro restart after waking from sleep

    Hi all,
Since I've installed Mountain Lion (10.8.2) on my 13" Late 2011 Macbook Pro I've been experiencing a quite annoying problem. The computer, which is connected to an external monitor through Thunderbolt to HDMI will restart (Sometimes to a gray screen with a progress bar) after waking from sleep. I've done some research and it would appear as though the problem is related to the display driver.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this peculiar problem or if there's a quick solution.
    Thanks!

Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box, other solved threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

  • After upgrading to Tiger, freeze after waking from sleep on PM G4

My experience with Tiger in the past week as not been great. The reason I upgraded was to get iSync 2.1, so that my Moto E815 phone could be sync'd with my OSX AddresBook and iCal. This wasn't possible with the latest version of Panther.
So, I upgraded to Tiger 10.4.3, and now my G4 freezes immediately after waking from sleep. After pressing the 'return' key to wake the computer, the G4 sends a signal to wake the monitor, but on top of the screen saver is a black text box which states there was a problem I must press (and hold) the power button to restart the Mac. It's written in four languages.
When I installed Tiger, I used the 'archive' option.
My computer is a bit of a FrankenMac: Originally a G4/350 with AGP, upgraded with a Sonnet 1GHz G4 processor card, 1.12GB RAM, a 160GB HDD, an nVidia GeForce3 64MB AGP video card, Samsung DVD/CR-RW drive (Patchburn3) and a Belkin PCI card with 2 additional Firewire ports and 3 additional USB 2.0 ports. When I performed the upgrade, I had the keyboard and mouse plugged into the case USB 1.1 ports, a Logitech Notebook Pro USB camera plugged into the other case USB 1.1 port, and a D-Link BT120 USB->BT adapter plugged into one of the three USB 2.0 ports on the Belkin PCI card.
When I check the Console logs after the rebooting, I see a kernal panic in the panic.log. Apple has received this a number of times from me in the past week as I keep sending them 'talkback' logs after the fact.
I also see an error in the system.log which may reveal what is going on:

I suspect the problem where the USB devices are started, because I had that Bluetooth adapter plugged in at the time of the upgrade. I'm speaking of the lines in the log which start with 'USBF'. The keyboard and mouse are useless when the black screen shows up after waking from sleep.
I've tried some of the suggestions I've found for the iBook 'wake from sleep' postings on macfixit.com and here - resetting NVRAM and removing a few of the .plist files. This didn't seem to help.
I would greatly appreciate help in resolving this issue. I've been a Mac owner since the original Macintosh (it's still in my house) and am frustrated that this is the first problem I've encountered.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks. In fact I had bought a new keyboard and mouse (Macally) and sure enough, if I unplug it before it reboots, the CD drive door stays closed and I can boot from a CD! I did not try any of the other stuff. Is there any way to get it to stop this? Why does a USB peripheral cause the CD to eject anyway? Would love to know!
    Ron
