Windows 7, RV082, QuickVPN hangs

Hi Experts,
I have a tough one.  I have installed QuickVPN on a few systems now for an office I administer and have had relatively few issues.  I have a tough one now though.  I installed QuickVPN 1.4.1.2 on a Windows 7 system.  The connection with the router gets set, but hangs at this point:

I initially thought it was the DSL router on the client side that was the problem, but I was able to successfully vpn in using the same client version, same login/pw credentials with my laptop using the same dsl router.  I have done all kinds of research on this issue, and have come up blank.  So far, I have eliminated the Cisco RV082 router, the QuickVPN client, the DSL router on the client side, and the setup.  Obviously the problem probably lies with the actual system.  But I don't know where else to look.  Any help would be appreciated.

Dear Friends
I wish you are fine ........ QuickVPN is very bad utility and unstable ....... I tried TheGreenBow VPN Client and it works very well ......... Here is the torrent link for software:
http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/6673988
Also here is the link that describe the configuration between RV082 and TheGreenBow
http://sbkb.cisco.com/CiscoSB/GetArticle.aspx?docid=95c2d48951154227ba43e7b55b76cdc3_Configuration_of_C2G_using_Greenbow_on_RV042_and_RV082.xml&pid=2&converted=0
In this configuration, You will create Tunnel for every client .......Also since the clients have dynamic IP address, Use Remote Security Gateway Type : Dynamic IP + Email address
Kindly find the below link for a summary document prepeared by me for this configuration

  • Windows 8 and QuickVPN...

I have several laptops that are running Windows 7 and quickVPN very successfully... Now windows 8 comes along and I have 2 users that upgraded... And for 2 days they continued to work, but now they are getting the typical failure at the ping confirmation..."cannot verify network would you like to wait"....not verbatim.  I have made sure that all the settings are the correct ie. IPSEC running, ports open, firewall is set correctly, correct rules are created... just like I had to do when windows 7 came out.  I still cannot get it to connect.  Does anybody have any ideas, or have any idea when Cisco is going to release a Windows 8 version of QuickVPN? All the hardware is the same and has been working well for years, different routers through the years but with a few tweeks along the way, using every OS from win98se-win 7.
    Current setup:
router - RV110W (latest firmware version)
current OS versions - Win XP, Win 7(64), and Win 8(64) not currently functioning
All OS's are up to date with updates
All certificates are up date and in the right place
user names and passwords are created and have been functioning correctly in the past
Weather or I agree with the upgrade of these laptops or not it has been done and I have to make it work as soon as I can so any assistance would be great.

    Hi Norm.
I´ve created a document with some tips about VPN, you could see it here:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-29399
If this doesn´t resolve your problem and you need a quick answer, can you please reach out to our Small Business Support Center and open a Service Request to address this issue? One of our Engineers may be able to work with you and diagnose the root cause. You can find the appropriate contact information for SBSC in the below link.

  • ESATA card w/ drive connected causes Windows 7 bootup to hang

I installed the NewerTech MAXPower eSATA 6G PCIe 2.0 card in slot 2 (PCI Express 2.0) of my Mac Pro (January 2008). My Mac Pro is configured with Mac OS X 10.6.x. It also has 64-bit Windows 7 installed via Boot Camp.
The NewerTech eSATA card works fine with Mac OS X. However, if an external drive connected to the eSATA card is powered ON at the time I natively boot-up to Windows 7, booting up hangs with the following message:
    Marvell 88SE91xx Adapter - BIOS Version 1.0.0.1003.
    Initializing...
If the external drive is OFF at the time I boot-up Windows 7, boot-up doesn't hang. I get the following message during bootup:
    Disk Information:
    No hard disk detected!
Then, my Mac Pro continues to boot up into Windows 7; it does not hang. However, I can't use the drive. If I turn on the drive (a LaCie D2 Quadra 1 TB hard drive) after logging into Windows 7, it is not detected by Windows 7. This is different behavior than with Mac OS X. If my LaCie drive was off when I boot-up into Mac OS X, and I turn on the LaCie drive after logging into Mac OS X, the drive is detected properly and shows up in Finder. I also have the OWC Mercury Extreme Pro Qx2. If I turn it OFF prior to booting into Windows 7 (to prevent a hang), and then turn it back ON after booting into Windows 7, then Windows 7 recognizes the Qx2.
So, does anyone have any suggestions on how to bootup Windows 7 natively while an external drive is connected? I reported the problem to OWC and they said that their "engineers are working on it", but it's been weeks, and it seems nothing is being done. BTW, I only tried slot 2 on my Mac. Wonder if it will help to try another slot.
    Thanks.

I haven't had any problems using the card other than Windows 7 bootup hanging if an external drive is connected to the card. Do you think it's a good chance that it's an issue with the external drive having the USB/eSATA/firewire interfaces, and not the card itself? Unfortunately, all my external drives (all of which hang during Windows 7 bootup via bootcamp) have the USB/eSATA/firewire interfaces.
I did some write tesing (large video files) using the OWC Mercury Elite-AL Pro Qx2 (4 drives in a RAID 5 config), which has a USB/eSATA/firewire interface. Using the eSATA interface, I was getting 202 MB/sec. Using Firewire 800, I was getting 65 MB/sec. So the eSATA was 202/65 = 3.1 times faster than Firewire 800. So, eSATA is certainly desirable to use. Not sure how much better I'd get with an enclosure that has only eSATA, and whether or not I'd get rid of the Windows 7 "hanging during bootup" bug.... Not an easy test to do given how much these external enclosures cost.
If anyone has any suggestions on alternate eSATA cards that work with Mac OS X SL, Windows 7 (natively via boot camp and via Parallels), let me know. Driverless would be great. I've done a lot of searching around for an ideal eSATA card, but seems that each one has different pros/cons.
    thanks.

  • Windows 7 Professional PC hangs at "Loading files" when trying to boot with custom capture image on Windows Deployment Services.

I have created a custom capture image in WDS. Now when I try to boot my reference PC into this image the PC hangs at "Loading files". The reference PC is running Windows 7 and I am using Windows Server 2012 Standard on my server.
I have followed the instructions on how to create the custom capture image on the server to a fault. I PXE boot the PC and it shows the capture images after I hit F12. The problem is that it starts to boot and then hangs about 2/3 way through the progress

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • RV082 - QuickVPN Client causes Windows 7 Bluescreen

    Hi,
I have a Cisco RV082 and can successfully connect with the Cisco QuickVPN Client, 1.4.2.1. However, after 1 to 5 minutes I see the Windows 7 bluescreen indicating that the system has halted due to a problem with a driver. I have installed the latest Windows updates and reinstalled the client.
The bluescreen only occurs if I use the Cisco QuickVPN Client.
    Can anyone assist?
    Thanks
    Michael

Hi Michael, Cisco does not have another supported VPN client for this model. You may use a 3rd party IPsec client such as shrewsoft or ipsecuritas or you may use the built-in PPTP feature.
It would be rather peculiar if the Windows error is generated because of the use of QVPN. Can you provide any additional troubleshooting information you have done?
-What is the firmware of the router?
-Have you uninstalled the QVPN software and reinstalled?
-Is it a particular file type or any file?
-Can you recreate this on multiple different computers and or operating systems?
-Can you provide an exact recreation scenario such as what file (or type), what server, any kind of particular transfer protocol, does this happen on different server platforms such as 2003, 2003R2, 2008, etc?
-When moving the same file from a non-server machine, such as a workstation with a map drive, does this persist?
    -Tom

  • Unable to access folders with RV082 QuickVPN

I have an office peer-to-peer network (win 7) connected with a QNAP NAS and a RV082 router. There is no proper naming (I don't know how to implement it) so everything is access via IP.
I managed to configure my RV082 to accept VPN connection from home via QuickVPN with cert etc and managed to ping all the running devices in the office, i.e. printers, nas, etc after connected with the office network.
However, when I try to browse the NAS say run "\\192.168.1.5\", it says "The network path was not found". But I could ping the IP just fine but not the name, I'm not sure if adding it into my lmhost will help.
I'm wondering if any of these has anything to do with my VPN settings? or is it my horrible network setup that is giving me the trouble. I also noticed that if i'm not on the same workgroup, when I try to browse office workgroup from Explorer/ Entire Network it will say "workgroup not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource..................."
Is this more of a Windows than my VPN issue? do I need other protocols besides TCP/IP such as NWlink netbios. I only have client for microsoft network, file sharing and tcp/ip running.

    Hi Yee,
Thank you for posting. Are you able to access shares on \\192.168.1.5 locally? If you can access the shares when you are onsite you should be able to access them using QuickVPN as well. You are correct that if you add the hostnames to the LMHosts file you will be able to access by name.
This sounds like an issue with the NAS itself. You can check this by trying to access a shared folder on a PC. You may need to disable any antivirus or firewall software on that PC before you can access shared folders.
    Please keep us updated.

  • QuickVPN hangs on Verifying Network

I have an RVS4400. I went into the VPN tab and then the VPN Client Accounts tab. I entered the desired username and password, then clicked Add/Save button. I click the Active box and click Save Settings button.
I now configure QuickVPN client with the profile name, username and password that I created on the router, the public IP of my VPN router, and have the port set for 443. When I connect, it goes through fine until it hangs at verifying network. It eventually times out.
From within the LAN, I can connect just fine. I've even disabled the Firewall on the router.
    Please help. Thanks.
    Manny

There is a NAT-T problem with Windows XP SP2 and there is a registry change that must be made.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885407
Windows Vista you need to turn the Windows firewall on for IPSEC connections to be made.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926179
I  tried these on my Vista and XP machines and finally got a connection to my WRVS4400N.
Both 32 bit may work for 64 bit but my 64 bit XP machine is inside my firewall.

  • Firefox on Windows 8.1 lagging, hanging, and crashing continually asking to set as default?

I have resisted, protested, and refused to update to windows 8.1. However when my laptop was on standby it automatically and forcefully updated. Since then the laptop has had numerous issues from programs not loading, black screens, lagging, hangings, and the rare crash.
However most of these problems have been with Firefox, for example Firefox can hang for 5 minutes or more, even attempting to forcefully close it in task manager doesn't work right away to close it. I have attempted to attach the 'troubleshooter 1.1a' information to my post above but I got an error message and I am not sure if it is there or not. If it is not then I will post it upon request (assuming that works)...
I have updated everything I can on 8.1 (would really like to downgrade back to 8.0 but I am not sure how to without redoing everything). Firefox appears to be up to date. I have disabled 'hardware acceleration' on Firefox. I have run security and maintenance software.
Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance for any assistance.

If you cannot avoid using the shortcut keys to do cut/copy/paste in the PL/SQL editor, then you must wait for a fix.  Here is a relevant discussion...
SQL Developer 4.0.3 often freezes unrecoverably
Try the production 4.1 release when it comes out.  The latest 4.1 is EA2 (Early Adopter 2), but some editor fixes from the JDeveloper team did not become available until after that release.  We are getting close to having a RC1 (release candidate 1) and hope the type of hang you are experiencing will finally be fixed. Another recommendation is to disable Show Breadcrumbs in Tools > Preferences > Coded Editor > Display.  That may help in some cases.

  • Oracle 11g R2 client installation on Windows 7 64 bit hangs after performing prerequisite checks

    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit OS
    6 GB RAM
    380 GB free space
    Extracted client to C:\Stage\win64_11gR2_client\client
Ran setup.exe as administrator, but the installation always hangs after step 5 of 7 is completed (Perform Prerequisite checks). Install log ends with entry "INFO: Get view named [SummaryUI]"
What am I missing here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Windows 2003 R2 Server hangs when starting Oracle 9.2 service

    Hi,
I've been having an error with an Oracle 9.2.0.7 installation where the server will hang to the point where it needs to be powered off as it is completely unresponsive. It hangs when I start the Oracle service.
I've tried installing the system from scratch a few times(OS, OS patches, Oracle 9.2, Oracle 9.2.0.7 Patch set, Database) a few times however I keep having this same issue issue. I had the system running properly up until yesterday and I thought the issue was SP2 for Windows 2003 as I didn't patch the OS before installing everything however it is happening again now.
The listener is started and I can't even connect to an Idle instance through SQLPlus when this happens. I just get a TNS Listener error which I will list below. SInce this keeps happening, I'm wondering if it may be a hardware issue (Installed on an HP ML350) but I'm also wondering if it may be SP2 for WIndows 2003 server and was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. I havne't found anything in the forum nor on Google so I thought I'd post here.
    Here are the last entries in the DB log when it hangs;
    ARC1: Archival started
    Mon Mar 10 14:18:59 2008
    ARCH: STARTING ARCH PROCESSES COMPLETE
    Mon Mar 10 14:18:59 2008

    Hi,
Since the server locks up when the service is starting, it's hard to determine how high it gets but after it starts, it quickly gets up to around 277MB and just stays there.
I was thinking it may be a memory issue as well as it displays the symptoms of a "light speed" memory leak. I had 4GB of memory in the server and realized that WIndows 2003 only saw 3.5GB so I decided to remove 1 GB but that didn't make a difference.
How would I go about ensuring that the memory consumption on my DB server does not get swapped much?

  • Windows 7 "Save As" hangs in the common dialogue box

All attempts to Save As hang when the common dialogue box comes up.
This hanging occurs with all the Office 2013 programs, custom applications, the lot.
It hangs before I get a chance to key in anything.
All Windows Updates done, Registry Booster says the registry is error free, Microsoft Security Essentials detects nothing, etc, etc.
I have tried several of the suggestions available from the Internet, none of them fix the issue.
From this Forum I see that this has been a problem in the past.
How can I pin down what is actually going wrong please!

    Hi,
This issue can be caused by network locations or printer configuration in your Office.
Please test the steps in following articles:
Microsoft Office stops responding when you try to open or save a file
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/313937/en-us
Excel hangs or becomes unresponsive when saving or closing a workbook
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_microsoft_excel_support_team_blog/archive/2012/04/12/excel-hangs-or-becomes-unresponsive-when-saving-or-closing-a-workbook.aspx
If the issue still persists, please help to collect the event log and app crash dump file and upload here for further research.
First enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\localdumps\EXCEL.EXE]
    "DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\
      00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00
    "DumpCount"=dword:00000010
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
    "CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000
Then, open Excel to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please find the crashdump file under c:\.
Please upload this file into Skydrive and shared the link here.
Also, you can try to analyze dump by yourself if you would like to:
How to analyze app crash dump file:
