Windows 7's boot halts because of SB Driver
I recently went back to using my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro (A2ZSPPro for short - chosed it as my playback device and magical tunes came out. But after I restarted my PC, my boot sequence has halted - and the windows logo was glowing at me the whole night. After some frustration I did a safe boot and found out at some forum that SB2 device might be the cause and indeed, after disabling the audio service all was well - and uninstalling the creative driver solved it for good.
I went and tried it again, installing the newest driver from the website - and sure enough - I'm in safe mode now, writing this.
I also have an onboard audio chip, which is part of my nvidia 650i chipset. It is installed, and working along side with the A2ZSPPro. I used my A2ZSPPro to record while the onboard chip was for playback. It work well until i switched the onboard with the A2ZSPPro - in the windows audio menu.
I have a Win7 Professional 86x, nvidia 650i chipset, and of course SB A2ZSPPro.
Any suggestions, Promises of future fixes, solutions or random offers will be greatly appreciated!

Unable to install Windows 8 in Boot Camp because of MBR
I just this weekend reformatted my MacBook Pro (Mid 2010, 15", 2.4 gHz i5) and so I had to reinstall Windows 8 with Boot Camp. I had it working fine before, although the lack of drivers made it absolutely terrible (Has Apple released any drivers for it yet?) but the installation went without a hitch. When I tried to install Windows 8 this time though, it did not work at all. On the OS X side, everything went as expected, and when I went to Windows installation everything worked until I had to select a partition. I feel like at this point I should point out that I have removed the optical drive from my Mac and have the Optibay in my optical drive bay and have a 128 GB SSD as my main drive and a 512 GB SSD in the optical drive slot, which was where my Bootcamp partition was, around 250 GB. I was installing Windows 8 using an external enclosure for my Superdrive with the Retail Windows 8 DVD full version. Anyways, when I went to select the partition, it said that it was unable to install because
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed GPT disks."
I have heard many conflicting resolutions to the problem, I have heard that I need to remove the other drive and install the optical drive and I have heard that this works very well, and many other things, I just want to find the correct solution to this. Thank you! And I hope I provided you with enough information!I have a cd drive with a bootable windows 7 disc and I already downloaded the drivers needed to a pendrive on MS-DOS Format.
However this devil things asks me for a windows 8 disc.

I am using Windows XP SP 2. My mother board is ASUS F1A55-MLX Plus, Processor: AMD A4-3400 APU with Radeon HD Graphics 2.70 GHz, 2GB DDR3 DIMM 1333 MHz RAM and 500 GB SATA HDD. I am using FF version 8. However, on some websites I cannot see the whole page on my 15" CRT Samsung color monitor. For the fact the slider at the bottom of the web page is not visible to move further left or right.

Configure arguments

I was able to update to version 10.0.1 via Help > About Firefox. Like John99 says it was updated a couple of days ago. However, the problem of WebGL and GPU still remains. I have asked my system supplier to check the same.
@zerofire. I have always built my computer and 'am a great fan of AMD. I hate Intel's blue Death Signs. We here in India do not like anything automated on our PC other than antivirus and antimalware along with pre-scheduled running of CCleaner and Defraggler. Once in a while I run CCleaner's Registry Cleaner. Even Windows Security Alerts are turned off. Windows XP and SP2 for PC and Windows 2000 for server are the most used. Not interested in SP3 or Vista as the transcription work I do requires me to just have XP or SP2. May later add on Windows 7 via dual booting. -
After upgrade Lion to Mavericks, can't run Windows 7 on boot camp because is hidden/disabled
The question is about iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)
It was with Lion, there was a Windows 7 (32bit) partition created by Boot Camp v4.
So, I made the upgrade to Mavericks (no clean install), after this when iMac start and holding "ALT" button no longer appears the option to boot into Windows!
EDIT: I installed rEFit, now I can see Win partition but when I select it system says: "A disk read error occured Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
I am sure that Win partition there is yet because when I'm booting Mac OS X and opening "boot camp assistant" it says me eventually remove the Win7 partition, and because I can see in the "Disk Utility" there's still the partition (disk0s4).
It's because MBR is broken after upgrade to Mavericks?

ThanksWhen bootcamp start, between the choises is to create a bootable usb disk. So you need to choose this and put your windows 7 cdrom inside and an empty usb flash disk. Then the program will take the Win7 file from the copy you have and will create a new copy in you usb disk. Then it will use the new copy for the installation and normally no error will appear.

After partition is complete through boot camp my mac restarts to instal Windows 7
The disk can be heard booting up but my screen is turned off.
After a min or so the keyboard goes active but screen remains off.
The disk is a store bought copy of windows 7
I have tried different installers and the same thing occurs the screen just turns off. You can hear the computer running but cannot see anything or do anything.
Have to hold down the power button to restart.
I tried booting it through a bootable usb same thing occurs.
Tried dowloadin drivers and putting them on MBRFAT usb like recomended for iMacs with a similar porblem. That Failed too.
Tried connecting a different monitor it didnt work.
So I am stumped has anyone had this problem. Not the black screen the screen being tuned off.
Ive been searching for days and havent found an answer realting to MBP.Hold the option while turning on the computer. You should see your statup drives. Just choose the OS X drive and eject your disc once in OS X.

i now have a 2012 mac pro.
should i install windows 7 with boot camp on a SEPARATE drive or can i put it on a partition on the same drive as yosemite?

so i /like/ the idea of having an internal CLONE of my OS in bay 1 on the drive in bay 2.
in the past i have set this to happen nightly and i use WinClone (thanks hatter) to create a BACKUP of the Boot Camp install of Windows 7 and i drop this backup on the DESKTOP. this way i have a BACKUP of Windows on my boot OS and i also have one on the CLONE.

I erased my windows partition using disk utility then realized I should have used boot camp, because now I can't resize the original partition and seem to be stuck with a ghost unusable space. Boot Camp now doesn't give me the option to install or remove windows partition.

The problem is that I did erase the partition, using disk utility, but I can't go back to my original disk size pre-partition, as disk utility won't let me do it and gives the message "Couldn’t modify partition map because file system verification failed." When I try to use Boot Camp Assistant it won't let me select the third option to remove windows. -

Hello, Boot Camp troubleshooter folks.
Again I come to you with a variation of the same refrain so many others have said. I haven't quite found my exact version of it, so here's mine:
I'm taking an online class that required me to make a third partition for Ubuntu. I'm running a MacBook Pro(6,2) from Mid-2010, running OS X 10.9.5. (Although I'm currently downloading upgrade to Yosemite as we speak. I figured, hey, if my MBR's already messed up, upgrading to Yosemite's not gonna make it any worse.)
I've got a 500GB HDD. It's had 100GB sliced off for Windows 7 Professional x64 for about two years. This was done by following the prompts in Boot Camp Assistant as directed.
Then, a few weeks ago, I ignored the warnings by Disk Utility and sliced off another 15GB off of my remaining 400GB for OS X into the smallest reasonable slice I could set aside for working in Ubuntu. On top of this, I also added the program "rEFIt." So, now, when I boot up my computer, by default, rEFIt comes up and shows me three different icons for getting into Linux, an icon for getting into OS X, an icon for getting into Windows, and an icon for getting into the OS X Recovery Disk.
Ubuntu and OS X work fine. If I select "Windows," I get that "No operating system found" for whatever it says prompt, and I can't do anything.
If I try to do the standard Boot Camp operation (holding down Option when I restart), I see the same list of options I saw before I installed Ubuntu, except again Windows doesn't work.
It seems as though I've shot myself in the foot by my order of operations, since I can't delete either partition in Disk Utility now, I'm guessing because there are too many sectors in the mind of OS X looking at the MBR. So, while Ubuntu and OS X work, I've got a 100GB brick where a functional Windows installation used to be.
The NTFS drive is still listed on my Desktop in OS X, too. All of the files are intact. But squeezing that Ubuntu partition between the OS X and Windows ones has created too many sectors, and I think I need to do that hybrid MBR business.

Now, since this computer's a Mid-2010, there's definitely a new MacBook Pro purchase in my future within the next 1-2 years. I will not make this same mistake again: On the next machine (assuming no inevitable issues with the Apple hybrid drive), I'll do the current OS X version, a sizeable partition done with Boot Camp of Windows 10, and then VirtualBox running Ubuntu. None of this triple partition crWell I was lucky enough to get an appointment to see someone at my "local" (40 minutes away) Apple store today. He said there were Windows and Mac files on the same partition. It was a mess...
Anyhow, he reinstalled Leopard for me and I'm back up and running. -

What I am trying to do is use SCCM's own OSD Task Sequence / Windows PE to deploy an operating system that boots using VHD Native Boot. (C:\ = VHD File with Windows, D:\ Data drive with BCDBoot).
MDT 2013 Can do it I've been told, but I am putting off MDT until Windows 10 if I can get away with it.

The good news is it is working up to the "Apply Operating System" phase, but that apply operating system phase is reported as an error even though it completes successfully. It can't clean up the SMSTS folder it's looking for on the C:\ because
it's been moved over to the D:\ by a diskpart script. We are left with the deployment working but requiring IT staff to deal with the OOBE Personalization wizard and adding each PC to the domain manually. From that point on the SCCM client can do the rest,
which works for US before we upgrade to Windows 10 with utilizing MDT.
I am not talking about deploying an OS to a VHD file and putting that file on a network share i.e.

I'd like to add a few more steps after apply operating system if I can, but I have to resolve this error with "Apply Operating system before I can go further."
Question:
Can an OSD guru tell me if there are any Task Sequence Variables we could throw at this to make the Apply Operating System sequence complete without error so we can do all SCCM OSD Deployment steps?
If we can, then someone (not me) gets to add a new TechNet blog post about this being possible. It's my understanding presently that only MDT can support deploying WIM files into VHDs on Workstations, that boot them.
The install image was created using dism to convert a VHD from a Hyper-V host into a wim. I know I'm meant to use SCCM to capture it, but I don't think that's causing this problem because when we are deploying from that image to a HDD without VHD we don't
get any issues.

I believe that setting defines what volume will be the BOOT / OS Drive Letter. Some people were getting D:\WINDOWS as their boot volume drive letter. Setting to true means whatever was the System Drive letter (usually C) in the image will remain as such
after it was was applied, setting it to false will make the system have the same drive letter arrangement as what Windows PE detects. In my case I set it to false so that no matter what the new VHD file setup as drive C will be the system drive. I'll set it
to true on the next deployment but I expect there to be no difference, because in both PE and the WIM the installation volume is the C:.
We are talking about the DRIVE LETTERS Windows PE SCCM OSD is using for it's temporary files - and how we can manipulate these locations using OSD Task Sequence Variables, so the Apply OS doesn't try and clean up files that are not there
- and fail with an error if you have added a VHD Native Boot volume.
This OSDPreserveDriveLetter setting isn't having any effect on the problem here.
I believe that Format step is setting some task variables used by the OSD Deployment process - telling it where to store it's temporary files. However between the Format Disks and Apply operating system steps the OSD Task Sequence isn't picking up on the
fact what was the C:\ after Format HDD step is now the D:\ .
A developer who has an understanding of how the OSD boot process executes in order would be able to see what's going on here.

Installing Windows 7 in Boot Camp with iso
I have downloaded an .iso file with Windows 7 on but I can't install it in Boot Camp. I've tried several things with no luck.
1. For the first, when I start up Boot Camp assistant I can't choose to "Create a Windows 7 install disk". I only have the two bottom options, the one for downloading support software and the one for installing windows 7. So I can't use my .iso file there.
2. I tried to burn a bootable dvd with the .iso file. I burned it on a Windows PC since my superdrive won't burn on the discs I've got (DVD+R). The disc works properly on the Windows PC but when i mount it in my Macbook I only get a popup that says I've put in a blank disc and some options of what I wan't to do next.
3. I tried to make a bootable flash drive and that pops up in finder, but the Boot Camp assistant won't recognize it and says I have to put in a Windows 7 install disc.
4. I also tried to open the image file in disc utility, but the result is the same as if I'm trying with a flash drive.
I'm out of ideas now so it would be nice if someone else knew any other possibilites to install Windows 7 in Boot Camp.
Or maybe there is an solution for the things I've alleready tried?

As long as the partition was created properly.... though 50GB can work it can also be slim fit in the end.
Under the worst condition - and the Mini is one of the worst, too - two minutes maybe to restart.

did you buy DVD or burn DVD? if burned, then that is likely cultprit Redo at slowest burn speed (2x) with verify.
Heck, even Windows 7 SP1 has been implicated on some were pre-SP1 worked.
For a test, there is Windows 8 RP for free. And Parallels 7 will set up a VM for you with the whole download and inistall. Not everyone needs to run natively. -
Installing Windows 7 with boot camp as whole partition on 2nd internal hard drive
Hi all,
I am unsure what is the recent changes with Apple boot camp. But when I used boot camp utilitiy on my Mac Pro (Mid 2010) to install windows 7 64 bits. It would not install and created a whole lot of problems.
After I initialise the process to install windows 7 using boot camp utilities, I chose the option to create a single partition to installl windows 7 on my secondary internal hard drive (1TB). After I restarted my Mac Pro and started the Windows 7 installation process, I was unable to install Windows 7 on the BOOTCAMP partition created by the boot camp utilitiy. I got an error something about Windows cannot be installed on the selected forum because the driver contained GPT details.
I tried to format the BOOTCAMP partition, but it ended up with errors. I tried to delete and recreate the BOOTCAMP partition in Windows setup, but failed with errors again. As I could not go any further with the Windows 7 installation, I had to hard reset my Mac Pro and tried to reboot back into Mac OS X Lion and that's when the nightmare begin.
Not only I could not boot into OS X, I could not use any of the startup key combinations (i.e. Hold option key to select start up disk, option + R to boot the lion recovery drive, not boot from any external firewire drive installed with OS X Lion). Basically none of the key combinations worked except for the holdingi F12 and mouse key to eject CD.
The only thing I could boot the Mac Pro with is the windows installation CD and Linux Ubuntu Raring Distro. I can install the ubuntu distro without any issue. However, I could not boot my mac pro back into OS X as Linux does not support bootcamp. The only way I could use Mac OS X Lion again is to delete the partition OS X Lion was installed on, and then I was be able to install Windows 7 without any issue.
After installing windows 7 I would have to download boot camp and then use the boot camp control panel to restart in the Mac Pro installation DVD and I will have to reinstall OS X again. After installing OS X, I went to System Preference and tried to select Windows 7 as startup disc. But I failed to as it says "Windows 7" Was installed via another utility. I would have to erase the partition and reinstall Windows 7 again using bootcamp utility. If I try to install windows 7 again, the horror I described above repeats again.
From my understanding, the Boot camp utility creates a new EFI bootrom with Master Boot Record (MBR) in FAT32 format. Therefore I could not boot back into Mac OS X without using boot camp in windows 7 as none of the boot combinations key worked.
I want to ask if anyone is experiencing the same issue as i do, and if there are any solutions to the problem I am experiencing. I never had such issue before. I was able to install Windows 7 on my 2ndary internal hard drive without issue using boot camp. I don't what has changed. I have googled for solution, I only found something related to XOM but nothing else.
If anyone can provide me with any help in regards to installing Windows 7 as a whole partition on a secondary internal hard drive. It'd be grealy appreciated. Thank you in advance.If you have driver issue, just pre-download the boot camp drivers and save them on an external drive or burn them onto a cd, you will be able to load drivers via the advanced installation option during windows setup, that is if your osx partition isn't actively preventing you from installing win7 on the BOOTCAMP Partition created by boot camp assistant, I find this rather ironic, took me 3 days to figure out this issue, I was stuck without being able to boot into anything beside the windows cd, which wasn't even helpful as I could not install windows as I did not want to delete my osx partition. I lost all my data becsuse of it, as I had no idea what was going on. I tried to recover the partition using testdisk, hfsprogs and gparted in ubuntu life cd but they dont support HFS+. As I could not access osx terminal (couldn't even boot into osx installation dvd with that dreaded MBR created by boot csmp). I could not use pdisk in terminal to restore the osx partition map. Though luck for me. Called applecare and they had no idea what the problem was, and as usual they orgsnised for hard drive replacement. But it was clearly a software issue.
They will have to fix bay2 for me as I can no longer detect any hard disk connected to that bay. -
Problems installing Windows 7 using Boot Camp
I have a brand new MBP Retina laptop (late 2013) with 256GB SSD. Today I tried to use Bootcamp Assistant to partition the SSD and install Windows 7 64 bit OS.
My first attempt was using a licensed Windows 7 64 bit installation DVD and my OWC external optical drive which is recognized in Finder:
I started Boot Camp Assistant, selected the boxes to download latest Windows Support Software from Apple and to Install Windows 7. I was asked to specify the size for the Windows partition and hit continue. The process was moving along, the computer restarted and then I got a black screen with a blinking white cursor (like a command line prompt) in the upper left corner of the screen and a message to press any key to reboot. Pressing any key did nothing.
As far as I could tell, the Support Software files that were on the USB drive did get installed prior to the first reboot of the system that happens after you allocate the size for the partition. After the first reboot I never got the Windows installer though, just the hanging black screen/cursor mentioned above.
I'm wondering if, after creating the partition and restarting, my computer can't see my external optical drive even though it does show up in Finder when booted to OSX because it was not reading the Win7 Install DVD at all.
While on the phone with Apple Senior Tech Support we rebooted several times holding down the Alt/Option key. The boot options were the OSX, Recovery, Windows, and EFI Boot. Choosing Windows resulted in the trackpad locking up and it just hung there. I ended up reverting the SSD back to a single partition for now.
After some discussion on the Apple forum I tried creating an ISO file from the Win7 64 bit DVD using ImgBurn software that I have installed on my Windows PC and ImgBurn indicated it had created a bootable ISO file. I copied the ISO file to the downloads folder on the MBP, plugged the empty USB drive into the MBP and tried Boot Camp Assistant again:
Choosing the appropriate option for use with an ISO file on a USB drive Boot Camp Assistant proceed to again create the partition, asked me to size it, and then it proceeded (over approximately an hour and a half) to work on copying the ISO file to the USB drive and downloaded the Support Software to the USB drive.
After the restart I got another black screen, cursor, and the messages, "No bootable device/drive found", "Press any key to reboot". Again pressing any key did not do anything. I reverted back to a single partition again, rebooted to OSX and gave up for the night.
Bottom line in either scenario is that I never get to the Windows installer screens to even attempt to install Windows on the new partition.
QUESTIONS:
I think in my situation it doesn't appear that ImgBurn created a bootable ISO file from my Win7 install DVD. The Apple Bootcamp Setup guide refers to downloading the ISO image from Microsoft but I couldn't find anything that I would be comfortable downloading.
I'd rather use my installation DVD for Windows but why isn't that process of reading the DVD from the external drive working after the restart?
Can the ISO file and Windows Support Software live on the same USB drive during installation and does the support software get installed automatically by boot camp assistant?
What am I doing wrong here? This shouldn't be this hard especially when I own a valid copy of Windows.
This is VERY frustrating. Any help or referrals to proper instruction is very much appreciated.I was able to successfully complete the installation of Windows 7 Home Premium using Boot Camp. Turns out the problem was the Windows 7 ISO image I was initially trying to use. I called Microsoft tech support and they sent me a link (see below) from which I downloaded the Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit ISO image. After downloading the ISO image and restarting Boot Camp Assistant the process of Boot Camp preparing and transferring the ISO image and Windows Support software to the USB drive took about 45 minutes and then everything went smoothly from there. The only thing I encountered was when I was asked what drive to install Windows on I got a message that it couldn't install on the Boot Camp drive because it needed to be in NTFS format. I clicked on the format button and then the process continued. After Windows installed the Windows Support Software from Apple started to install automatically. So far it is working well.

Installing Windows 7 With Boot Camp on Mac Pro 3.1 w/GTX285 Video card
I have an Early 2008 Mac Pro 3.1 running the latest version of OS 10.6 with all updates. I have an nVidia GTX285 card installed in the Mac Pro that has been working fine for at least six months under OS 10.6 with Mac drivers downloaded from the nVidia web site and installed under OS 10.6. I replaced the ATi 2600XT video card with the nVidia GTX285 in order to have CUDA support in Premier Pro CS 5 and it works beautifully.
I now wish to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on this Mac Pro. I have never had any version of Windows installed on this Mac Pro. I am using Boot Camp assistant and a new full version of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
My question is do I need to remove the GTX 285 graphics card and replace it with my AT 2600XT before installing Windows 7? This would be a real pain to do because the two connectors to the motherboard are hard to get to. However, since Apple never used the GTX285 in any of its computers, I am worried that I will not have any video display when I go to try and install Windows 7 with Boot Cam assistant.
Please advise me whether removing the graphics card is necessary before installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp.

How I would proceed -
Install Windows on its own drive.
Pull all the other drives.
Boot from Windows 7 Pro DVD
Forget Boot Camp Assistant, it doesn't do anything - unless you really want to install Windows on the SAME drive as Mac OS - not ideal and not what most of Mac Pro owners do.
Just insert your OS X DVD once Windows is up to date - helps to buy the SP1 OEM version $129.
Run Apple SETUP.exe (Boot Camp 3.0.x drivers) and update with ASU or manually to 3.2.
No you don't need to go back and use that ATI. And you dont' want to be in the situation of changing from ATI to Nvidia and all the hassle that adds. you are fine.
The Mac Pro is as close as anything to a standard Wintel workstation.
Add MS Security Essentials or KIS or whatever you favor. KIS2011 or NIS2011 are good, MSSE 2.0 is free and based on their enterprise product.

Is it possible to use an external hard drive as the windows partition with boot camp?
I am looking to get a Macbook Pro adn was researchin the different software advantages over PC and found a program called oot Camp that allows you to run Windows on your Mac. I thought that this was interesting as it was sort of the best of both worlds. I wanted to know from people who have used this before: How well does it work? Does it slow down the computer at any noticable rate? Etc.
The last question that Ive been trying to find an answer to, but have no conclusive results, is wether you are able to select the partition as an external hard drive or not. Boot Camp is an application that emulates a BIOS so you can install Windows on a second volume on your hard drive. It can't be installed on an external disk because Windows can't be installed on an external hard drive. It works well if you need performance -
Blank screen when installing Windows 7 with Boot Camp - Mac Mini 2011
I'm new to the Mac scene, having barely any knowledge on the OS.
I've been trying to install Windows 7 via Boot Camp on my new Mac Mini (Latest offering from Apple).
I have an External DVD Drive which I have been using, connected via two USB's to the back of the Mac Mini itself. It's fully functioning, with the Mac recognizing the Drive. I've used it for some CD's and DVD's so far.
I have a full, licensed copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, bought from the Microsoft Store on a DVD. There's both a 64bit and 32bit DVD, of which I have tried both to install Windows 7.
I've been through the Boot Camp Assistant software, un ticking both the "Create a Windows 7 install disk" and "Download the latest Windows support software from Apple" because I already have the Windows 7 install disk. I've had troubles downloading the Windows support software from Apple, as it just stops about 1/4 of the download for no apparent reason.
So once I've made the partition, I insert the Windows 7 DVD into the External Disk Drive, and it reboots. At first it looks like the Disk Drive is working, as you can hear the Disk movement and a blue light on the front of the Disk Drive... But then the screen goes blank, and the Disk stops spinning (from what I can tell). Nothing else happens from then on.
Is there any reason as to why this is happening?

The MacBook Air has extra drivers. Some people have edited the script preference plist to add their model Not all USB DVD devices may or may not work.
Burning electronic versions like an ISO or in .exe format you will see threads where that is the issue.
