Windows 7 service pack 2 and Firfox are now not compatable? Is there a fix?

Windows 7 updated today. Firefox no longer works. States not compatible. Uninstalled and reloaded. Still no go. Is there a fix for this?

The answer can be found here from a Microsoft thread (credit to Millie, not myself):
After uninstalling KB2670838 IE9 and Firefox worked again, I then installed IE10 and found that the IE10 installer re-installed KB2670838 and Firefox would crash again but IE10 did not crash.
After some searching, I found the Troubleshooting page at mozilla.org
http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems
Start Firefox in Safe Mode (hold the shift key when starting Firefox) then turn off hardware acceleration:
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Options At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Tools menu and then select Options On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Preferences...At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Edit menu and select Preferences
Select the Advanced panel and the General tab.
Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button and then select Exit At the top of the Firefox window, click on the File menu and then select Exit On the menu bar, click on the Firefox menu and select Quit Firefox At the top of the Firefox window, click on the File menu and select Quit
Start Firefox the way you normally do.
Firefox does not crash on startup now.

You should ALWAYS import all pics ( and anything selse for that matter) before any update.
If you failed to do this, then the pics are likely gone.  You can try restoring from backup.

  • ITunes 10.6.3.25 on PC running Windows 7 (service pack 1 installed)- music progress bar not moving

Unable to play music from ITunes library or audio cd.  The sound card works, speakers work when tested with audio device.  Audio drivers updated, not sure where to turn.  Have seen similar threads in the recent past.  What needs to happen here.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Is there anyone that can verify they're having this same issue? I called Apple to report the 'glitch' but I'm looking for any others with the same challenge and whether or not you've found a work around.
Again--I rely heavily on iTunes for business. We use it constantly for live performances...both on it's own and it's integration with Traktor, Serato and DJay
    Thanks Everyone!

  • Is there a way to retrive my old apps on my ipod that I lost now that I resored is to original settings and they had updated.  It would let the apps back on my 2G ipod that I had because they are now not compatable with the softwear!

I have now learned that our 2G IPods will not update any further to the latest ISO. but now that I just rebooted my son's Ipod he has lost a LOT of apps because they are no longer compatible with the softwear version on the IPod!  Is there a way to get these back???

the old apps are on my computer but they have had upgrades since they were put on the ipod originally.  you think you would get a warning about this when you restored. I was not worried about losing the progress of the apps but i would have been worried about the app it self!!!!!

    Hi vijeth,
thanks for posting and welcome to the community,
Based from your post here this does seem to be a driver issues impacting your Broadcom wireless card that has been fitted into your machine. This Error code is actually wide spread across different Manufacturers that has the Broadcom wireless installed. At this point it is uncertain what the exact solution is. Some have rectified the issue by doing a windows update and it had installed the broadcom drivers and that had solved the issue.
Currently there are some solutions that has help some of the users. Especially from the thread below.

You may want to check this out. Some of the user are experiencing this Win 7 or Win8. But it worth checking what they did as it might help you out as well.

HP UFT 12.02 is not installing on Windows 7 Service Pack 1. But the Install Guide says it supports and recommends Windows 7 Service Pack 1 as the Operating System.

    Hey Hello Dear,
Please upgrade UR windows 7 Service pack to Service pack 2.
from my knowledge for SQL SERVER 2012 it requires Windows 7 service pack.
And before installing SQL server 2012 Plz activate .NET framework for that,
Put UR windows 7 Format CD then,
Run Command prompt as Administrator and paste following cmd in that
    DISM.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:c:\net35 /LimitAccess
it will take 2 min. after that restart your PC and try to install SQL server 2012.
Note: Before installing SQL SERVER again format UR PC/lapy once.
After this if it gives error while installation then plz change ur setup and try again.
    This will be helpful.
    Best of Luck

  • ORADC problem on Windows 2000 with Service pack 1 and service pack 2

    Hi,
I have a VB application running on NT4.0 workstations. It uses
ORADC control to talk to ORACLE 7.3 When I load it on Windows
2000 with service pack 1 or service pack 2, I encounter some
    problems.
The ORADC control is used in most of the VB forms and the
Refresh method of the ORADC conrol is used to refresh the APEX
TRUE DBGRID PRO control. When this action is executed, I receive
    a run time error
"Method Refresh of object '_DORADC' failed Err#: -2147417848
It works fine when no service pack is applied on Win2K.
Can anyone tell me what's going on?
    Thanks

When I checked the system requirements. I couldn't find information on windows 2003 service pack 2

Whether your OS is windows 2003 with service pack 2?
Are you sure coldfusion 8 will work on windows 2003 with service pack 2?
    Regards,

Well it was there, if you understand the naming properly:
    ColdFusion 8 system requirements
            Windows
Intel® Pentium® II or AMD Athlon processor
    Microsoft®
Windows® 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3; Windows 2000 Server,

R2 is the "offical" Microsoft name for service pack 2.

  • JFileChooser DFS and Windows Vista Service Pack 2

We updated a computer with Vista Service Pack 2 and now JFileChooser is not opening up links that are DFS.
To make sure it was not our app I tried using the JFileChooser Demo from Sun and I am still having the same issue. Java will allow me to quick but it will fail silently.
I have retried using the latest 1.6.0_14 (6u14) JDK and JRE but still no luck (Which says support Windows Vista SP2). Is there a bug with the JRE? We have reverted the computer to SP1 and are alerting our user base.
Is anyone else having this issue? Do I need to report it as a bug?
    Anyone have a suggestion?
    Thanks,
    pk

I have verified that this does not work with Windows 7

Pay attention to what rkaufmann87 is saying, because I agree.
    Chrome is very resource intensive.
It is possible you are running other memory intensive apps.
You have a lot of 3rd party additions loaded at boot time.  Do you really need all of them?  Even after you get rid of MacCleaner (as suggested by rkaufmann87).
Do you really need the seagate and WD drive software?  The Mac is fairly good at accessing disks without 3rd party intervention.
Any of the 3rd party additions listed by EtreCheck that you do not need, you should consider uninstalling.
    That fact that you have
        171.19 GB    Page-ins
in just about 4 days, says you have about 0.5megabytes per second.  That is a huge load on your disk drive.
Either cut back on the RAM intensive apps, or get more RAM.  At least 8GB, but if your Mac supports it, 16GB.  Crucial.com and MacSales.com (OWC) are well respected by the long term forum contributes.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Rescue And Recovery On Clean Install Of Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hey,
I have recently purchased a refurbised IBM ThinkPad T40 2373-82M laptop computer. When I received the computer it did not have any recovery partition or recovery CD's that came with it. I then installed my own personal copy of Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the machine and installed drivers and applications individually by downloading them off the Lenovo support website. However, I have attempted to install the latest version of the ThinkVantage Rescue And Recovery Program (Version 4.20) on my computer but I end up with the following error: 'There is not enough free space on the computer to install or upgrade the Rescue and Recovery environment'. When I did a full clean install on the system I deleted all partitions that were on the computer at the time during the Windows XP installation and made a single NTFS partition. There were two 20GB partitions on the hard drive when I bought it, but neither of them were the IBM Rescue and Recovery partition. Could it be possible for me to install this software on my laptop, and make a Rescue and Recovery partition, now and make it the same way it would of been when it left the IBM factory?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ash.
