Windows 7 Starter Netbook and iPhone 4s tethering

Hello All.
This is my first post here, and I thank all in advance who read/reply to my question.
I just recently purchased an iPhone 4S and it has been working great. I only have one problem with it:
I am unable to make a connection to my Windows 7 starter netbook for tethering. (personal hotspot)
I have read the apple support documents and it says windows 7 is supported.
I have it activated through my carrier (Rogers in Canada). The netbook sees the iPhone and i click connect, it just thinks about it for a minute and just says cannot connect to this network. It doesn't even allow me to enter the passcode I have set on the iPhone.
I have tried the iPhone on other computers, and they all work and make the connection fine with both wifi connecting and direct USB. Works on my Vista Desktop, my windows 7 home premium laptop, and even my old XP laptop from 2004.
I have installed iTunes on the netbook and it sees the iphone, but I still can't use it with tethering (thru wifi or USB)

I received a response from emachines, and they will NOT assist due to being outside the 90 day warranty that was provided. I am unable to locate my receipt for it so unfortuately, they won't be any help.
I'd put XP on it in a heartbeat if I'd knew it would work. 2 reasons why I don't do it right now. I'm not sure if I can find the right drivers for the netbook (video, audio, wifi, etc) and I don't have a windows 7 disc. All my PCs that have windows 7 came pre-installed. No recovery disc. I suppose i could use the recovery partition on the netbook though...
Any other thoughts before I go ahead with the XP install?

No, Windows 7 Started edition only support USB connection. any network connection with your HP device is not supported due to limitations of the operating system:

Windows 7 and iPhone internet tethering

Hi guys,
I was using the exact same hardware (notebook) and same USB cable and iPhone in the past that the Internet Tethering was working perfectly when in WinXP Pro.
However, recently I re-format my PC to Windows 7. But the problem is now the Internet Tethering somehow is not working.
Symptoms:
My iPhone is connected to the PC, can sync Outlook mail, contacts, calendars etc. When I turned on the Internet Tethering, the mobile shows that it is connected with BLUE bar at the top of the screen. But in my notebook, it doesn't show that it is connected to any devices, nor any NIC there. Finally I confirmed that no IP address obtained.
Is there anything I mis-configured? or this is no way to do this?

The question is answered by my own.
Turn on the Internet Tethering on iPhone. Plug it into the Win7 machine. Let it finished synchronizing. Turn on the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. Check for the device - Apple Mobile Device Ethernet by right click and Diagnose it.
After the diagnosis, there was problem found, and I let the Win7 fixed by itself. Then, Win7 can get the IP from the iPhone and do browsing through the PC.

Windows 7 RC 64bit and iPhone 3gs/ iPhone not recognized by iTunes

I've had my 3gs for a about a week. After the third day it stopped syncing with my computer. ITunes (latest 64 bit version) gives the error that an iphone was detected, but not properly recognized. Is anyone else using this combination of 3gs and windows 7?

I built a new I7 920 system in May, and am using the Windows 7 RC 64bit as my OS. Even though my Iphone and my wifes 3G worked fine at first. Shortly after that about two weeks. They stopped being recognized by Itunes. I scoured the internet looking for a fix. The only one that corrected the problem was to extract the individual program executables from the Itunes64 bit setup file, by using Winrar, and then changing the Apple mobile device program to run in compatability mode. Launch it and select repair, after I did this my phones were recognized again by Itunes, but unfortunately this only lasted for a few days. Now i'm back to neither of them being recognized by Itunes again. I don't know what else to do. It would be nice if Apple could give us a leg up on this and help get these things working better.

Still major problems syncing with iTunes 9.1.1, Windows 7, 64-bit and iPhon

Downloaded the iTunes, 64-bit, 9.1.1 and installed from scratch. Attached my iPhone 3GS, 16GB with 8,75 GB free space!!! Still after three and a half hours it is still syncronizing, and have only completed two thirds... This is really below good enough, Apple!

same crap here and i only have 3gbs of space used out of a 16gb iphone 3gs...never a lick of problems until now.. i don't bother with music under 256 so i wouldn't dream of cheacking 128 conversion for that lousy sounding stuff.
windows 7 professional 64 bits and no issues at all until last update which added ipad...i wish i could go back but what a hassle as i keep my music on another drive and use pointers so not wanting to rebuild library other wise i would go back i have older version. today i did update as i have 2 issues slow syncing and BONJOUR!!!!
the bonjour will fill up event viewer with errors so i leave it disabled in services... no need for it but this shouldn't be happening.
what a clunker apple did to rush this out for lousy ipad. **** lucky i like phone otherwise i would blow apples software off for another phone.

T410, Windows 7--start button and task bar frozen

I have had my new T410 (I7), with Windows 7, for two weeks. This morning I started the laptop and I could access the start button or the program icons on the task button. I called tech support in Atlanta, and was told I had a corrupt operating system and would have to reimage the hard drive which will require backing up my data and, after reimaging, reinstalling my programs and data. Is there any alternative to this royal pain? Bob

Macbook pro 17 inch and iphone bleutooth tethering broken again.

Before the lastest security patch my bleutooth tethering connection finally worked. That was cool
However now it doesn't work anymore. I believe the latest security patch of mac osx broke it.
Does anyone have the same experience?

Hi Okpail,
Try recreating the bluetooth connection as described below.
Make the iPhone forget the MacBook Pro by tapping Settings> General> Bluetooth> tap the MacBook Pro connection> tap the blue (>) arrow> tap Forget this Device.
Also, forget the iPhone on your MacBook Pro, just click Bluetooth, in System Preferences> click your iPhone name> click the minus icon> Restart your computer.

Disabling the windows xp start button,and disable ALT+TAB

hi all, i am writing an internet cafe management system, and its required that clients do not access the start button, although it will be visible but will not respond to mouse clicks or keybord events.
And also how do i disable ALT+TAB when my program is running.

Event if using vb.net it won't be happen (i think). Why do you want the client did not access the start menu? if you want the client canot access the control panel, why dont just you hide the control panel menu from start menu? (i dont know how to do that, but maybe a little googling will help). Because yesterday, i go on internet cafe and can only access the Program and Shutdown menu.

Windows 7, Outlook email and iphone

Now that I have an iphone, my outlook will not send/receive email. I've called my cable company, they say the emial is fine. I send the test message, can't find my incoming, however the test message is sent to my iphone.
I NEED, really really NEED, to have my email in both places.
Anyone have a suggestion?

A lot of this depends on the type of email account that you are provided by your ISP. I'll assume that is what you are using since you mention the cable company. If you have a POP3 account, that is designed to be accessed by a single email client, either the phone, or Outlook on the computer. If the iPhone is set to delete the mail on the server, and you pick the mail up on the iPhone, it will not be able to be picked up by Outlook. That is the design of the account. However, if the account can be accessed as IMAP, then it is designed to be accessed by multiple clients and is kept in sync on all of them.
If it is POP3, you can set it up to be seen on both, but it can be a little difficult, especially if you have both clients set to pick up mail automatically at specific intervals. Find out what kind of account you have first.
On the other note, I'm not sure why you cannot send mail in Outlook, unless you have some settings wrong, and that you would have to take up with your provider. I've explained the receiving part.

I have windows 7 starter on my netbook and the latest version of Firefox seems to not do well. Ho do I get back to Firefox 4? Or is there another version/customizations that is better?

The latest version of Firefox tends to not agree with my windows 7 starter netbook. I get a lot of hangups and crashes. I would like to download Firefox 4 again but can't seem to find it on your site in order to download it. Do you have any other suggestions that would be a good fit for windows 7 starter?
Also, I keep getting messages saying that Firefox is causing high CPU and memory usage on my netbook.

Due to security vulnerabilities, rolling back to Firefox 4.0.1 is not recommended. Version 3.6.18 would be a safer choice.
Here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
Close Firefox 5.
You could install Firefox 3.6 over it (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: If you don't have Firefox ask you before updating, you may need to set that to prevent an automatic update back to Firefox 5. Tools > Options > Advanced, Update mini-tab

No Synchronisation of Photos between iTunes 10.5 and iPhone 3GS after iOS 5

I made the Update to iTunes 10.5 on my Notebook with Windows XP and the Update to iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS.
I had a lot of Problems (the Backup had an Error, my outgoing Mails were all deleted in all Mail Accounts, the Synchronisation of Music and Apps needs a lot of Synchronisations and a lot of Time and so on) with these Updates and I need more than 12 Hours at the Moment to repair all the Errors.
My last Problem is:
There is no Synchronisation of Photos between iTunes 10.5 and iPhone with iOS 5.
I can not see my Photos in my iPhone.
The Capacity in iTunes 10.5 shows 4,4 GB Fotos on my iPhone, but in my iPhone, there is no Folder in the Photo App and so I can not see the 4,4 GB of my Photos.
This Problem comes with iOS 5. I had this Problem never before.
First, I gave in iTunes a OK for a Home Sharing of Music, Videos, Photos and so on for the Folders and for the iPhone.
Second, I was in iTunes in Photos and deleted the Check in the Folder Photos.
Third, I made a Synchronisation with iTunes and the iPhone.
Fourth, the Capacity of the Photos was then only at 0,17 GB.
Fifth, I close iTunes and switched off the iPhone.
Sixth, I started iTunes and iPhone new and bring both together with the USB-Port.
Seventh, the Syncronisation started and the Capacity of the Photos in iTunes was at 0,17 GB, too.
Eigth, I set a new Check in the Folder Photos in iTunes for a Synchronisation.
Ninth, the Capacity showed 4,4 GB again.
Tenth, the Synchronisation started and showed on the Display "2 Photos of 16.000".
Eleventh, the Synchronisation Circle stopped after 10 Seconds, but the Notebook worked 2 Minutes longer.
And after this the Synchronisation stopped appruptely / crashed (?) and the Photos are "unvisible" on the iPhone.
Is this a known Bug?
Has Someone a Solution for a correct Synchronisation of the Photos, so that I can see successfully my Photos in my iPhone again?

Ever since my upgrade to iTunes 10.5 my laptop has been crashing. I've heard that the update ***** up 100% of your CPU, essentially crashing your computer. Apple, fix this now!!!

Mini Windows 7 Starter won't restore!

I have an HP mini netbook; Windows 7 starter. And I have a TON of viruses. And my computer won't even connect to the Wi-fi anymore even when I am right next to it! And frankly it's gotten annoying. I have tons of conduit viruses on this thing and I want to wipe out my entire computer. I don't care about losing files or anything. I just want my netbook to factory settings! And I've tried:
Going to start-up & clicking F8 or F11
I get to the menu and click System Recovery
And I click on all the necessary options and even detatch hardware from my computer. And it keeps asking for "recovery media"
And mind you my computer doesn't have a disc drive. So I never had a disc come with my computer or anything like that. And I should just be able to restore my computer without a disc or anything like that.
All other recovery options require the files to not be deleted. And I want them all gone so I can refresh my whole computer. I've had tons of games and files stay on the computer after I've deleted them multiple times. And I can't erase some even in the control panel.
Is there anything I can do?
I've watched youtube videos of people with the same netbook restoring their files with no problem and with no messages pop up. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I don't want to be on the phone with someone for hours and I don't really have the money right now to send this computer in. And honestly I'd rather get a new one then pay countless dollars for a computer that really isn't that good.
Any help is appreciated and I hope someone can find out what my issue is!

How are you connecting the Deskjet 1220? USB, Parallel or a USB to parallel converter? If the latter I would suggest a straight USB-USB connection. Make sure you have windows Update enabled as the driver is delivered via Windows Update.

HT1349 My iTunes keeps crashing every single time I open a Windows PC or Laptop and the "Matching with the itunes store" starts. It's driving me nuts because I can't sync to my iphones or my ipad.

My iTunes keeps crashing every single time I open the software on any of my PCs and laptops. Once the Itunes match features starts it's ony a matter of a minute or two before the software crashes. I have tons of new songs that I want to sync to my ipod, ipad and iphones but can't get it accomplished. Any suggestions??

TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem. Autorun only shows the Bonjour service. It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service. It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%. It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart. Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem. Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant. I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.
