Windows 7 taskbar feature - tabs as individual taskbar items.

Just like for IE8, the Win7 Taskbar treats each Safari tab as it's individual item.
Is there anyway to turn this feature off?

We have a Task timer we use internally to track our time on projects that i recently re-wrote for LV 2009. It inserts itself in the system tray fine under XP but on Windows 7, I have recieved reports of it not "coming to the front" and the user has to close all other windows to find it.
Note: this has only been seen when running as an exe.
I have not had a chance to chse that down.
Now if you are talking about the development environment... then I can't say I have seen that issue.

  • Tab Preview in Windows 7 Taskbar

    Hello everyone,
I'm wondering if it is possible to disable tab preview in Safari 5 on windows 7 taskbar. I find this highly annoying as i just want to see individual instances of Safari (Should i have them that is) and not X amount of tabs in a seemingly huge jungle of tabs!
I have looked and read posts asking the same thing and yet there seems to not be an answer. Perhaps it is not even possible but i'd like at least it to be confirmed. Surely that would be a simple user preference.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks
    Tom

There is a preference in the Options window that controls this.
Open the Options window (click the Firefox button, then select Options). In the Options window go to the Tabs section and make sure the preference "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar" is selected.

  • With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

    Latest Firefox 4 beta 6.
    nVidia GT240 1GB DDR3 with driver version 258.96.
    Windows 7 Ultimate.
If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.
You can trey the test extension: http://jagriffin.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/introducting-grafx-bot/

  • How can I get the list view of tabs on the windows 7 taskbar exclusively and not just when I have a lot of tabs (over 13?) open at once?

How can I have tabs stack in the windows 7 taskbar before I have 13 tabs open?

Upgrade your browser to Firefox 8 and check

  • Minimizing & closing multiple grouped windows from taskbar

On Windows Server 2012 R2, I have set my taskbar to combine buttons. I have multiple instances of a console application running, and they combine on the taskbar fine. However, when I right-click on the combined button, I only get a list of window names,
each with a "close" button. I no longer have the option to "cascade", "minimize group" or "close group" like on my previous version of Server. So I tried opening a bunch of browser windows also, and I can right-click
on that combined button and at least get "close all windows", but still no "cascade" or "minimize". So for now, my workaround to minimize is to just show desktop. But I could really use a shortcut to "close all" since
I have 14 of these windows that I close pretty often. What is it about my console application that would have Windows Server 2012 omit that "close all" option, when I DID have that option with the same application on the older version of Windows
    Server?
In addition, I saw a tip somewhere else to simply CTRL-select the processes in Task Manager and close them all that way, but I can't even do that. I can't select multiple items in the Processes or Details tabs of Task Manager with either the CTRL or SHIFT buttons.
I wasn't able to do that on my older server either, so strange that that's an option for some people.

    Hi LysR777,
Do you mean the "cascade all windows", "Minimize Windows" option cannot be found?
If so, Please try to Hold the SHIFT key and then right click on the Stack of combined taskbar items, the screenshort below on server 2012 R2 is for your reference:
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Full screen windows 7 taskbar bug

Since the recent install of Flash Player 11 (v11,1,102,55) there was irritating problem on the laptop of my wife. When YouTube flash video were put in full screen the Windows 7 taskbar would remain visible.
The laptop screen is 1920 x 1200 so standard the DPI setting of the display is put to 150. If I would put the DPI to the standard setting the taskbar will disappear with full screen video but then everything is too small in windows. At first I did not release it could a problem with the Flash Player but when I did come to that conclusion I had to apply the following to the plugin-container program which is situated in the webbrowser install folder. In this case Mozilla Firefox.
After selecting the properties of plugin-container I went to the compatibility tab and put a flag in the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings". This basically solved the annoying problem but frankly such a sloppy fault in a commonly used program like Flash Player should not be there. I advise Adobe to correct this in the next version. There are quite a lot people these days who have laptops with HD resolution so fix it!
In the mean time I hope this will be of help to people who have a similar problem.

Oh thank God. I've been struggling with this very issue for months with my task bar obscuring Flash video in full-screen, which really sucks since that's where the video controls are.
I knew it was the DPI setting and I'm absolutely flabbergasted that Adobe hasn't accounted for this on a piece of software that is pretty much essential to using the internet and when most people are using HD displays.
After reading this fix, I immediately browsed to C:\Program Files(x86)\Mozilla Firefox and right clicked Properties on the plugin-container application. Right there on the Compatibility tab is the option Disable scaling on high DPI settings. Checked the box and imediatly full-screened the first flash video I could find. Problem solved, didn't even have to reboot the browser.
BarrieBar, I salute you. Never would have found this without your post.
    Thanks.

    Hello Frank.
First of all, take a look at this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser It will help you understand what the browser really is.
Now, as for your issue, if I understand it correctly, the only way to prevent this from happening (that I know of) is to go into Tools > Options > Tabs and select "Open links that open in a new window in:" as "New Tab".
Of course, you can always drag and drop tabs from window to window, no problem.

  • KDE shuts down when I click on a minimized window in taskbar!

    Hello
I'm having this strange problem since I use KDE 4.5.2; if Kwin desktop effects would be enabled (OpenGL), KDE shuts down immediately when I click on a minimized window in taskbar no matter what I do.
First I had this problem in Kubuntu 10.10 and then in Arch (after upgrading KDE), the difference is, in Arch I get this error on screen that probably helps solve the problem or at least find out its origination!
    Here is the screenshot:
    Some information that may help:
    Xorg version: 1.9
    VGA: ATI Radeon HD 5870
VGA Driver: catalyst-test 10.10-999 from AUR
Thanks in advance for your help...

    Thank you for your reply.
I just upgraded Arch (# powerpill -Syu) and along by that KDE also got updated to 4.5.2-2 from 4.5.2-1, but nothing changed, probably got worse; Plasma workspace crashes, screen flickers and background goes black frequently for about 2 minutes after I log in, even if Kwin effects are disabled or enabled via XRenderer.
I said I had the same problem in Kubuntu Maverick where I let Kubuntu download and install ATI proprietary drivers. Are they considered beta also?
Anyways, here is another screenshot after KDE gets killed!:

I think it's more related to Xorg 1.9 or KDE 4.5.2 than the driver (based on my experience with Kubuntu).
This problem forces me to use Gnome for the moment and I'm really upset!

  • Windows 7 taskbar hidden

All of a sudden, I can no longer get the Windows 7 taskbar to show when I place the cursor at the bottom...What could be the cause(s)?

Go into your Control Panel and open the '''Taskbar and Start Menu'''. Click on the first tab, '''Taskbar''' (if it's not already open) and check the box '''Lock the taskbar'''. You can further customize your settings.

  • Right-click with 2 fingers on Windows Vista taskbar and nothing appears

I just updated my Bootcamp to 2.1, I thought it would solve my problem
"Right-click with 2 fingers on Windows Vista taskbar and nothing appears" but I still have this problem, I cannot right-click on my windows vista at all.
though, right-click on the notification area works.
right-click = pressing the trackpad with 2 fingers.

Now I have figured out I have to use 3 fingers instead of 2 fingers.
but in the BootCamp Control Panel there is an option that says
    * Use 2 fingers for right-click

My taskbar is blank in Firefox. It simply says 'Done' in the bottom l/h side. When I go back to windows the taskbar reappears with all icons at r/h side.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

My Windows 7 taskbar does not pop-up as usual at the bottom of the screen when I have PSE 12 Organiser open full screen.  To access my desktop or other programs, I have to minimise PSE 12 organiser.
The taskbar works OK when I have PSE 12 Editor open full screen

In windows 7, if you right click any icon that is pinned to the taskbar, and then, with that program's menu displayed, left click an empty part of the taskbar and move the mouse in any direction. The taskbar (even if it is locked) will jump to the top of the screen.

    Hi
I tried but was unable to recreate the behavior you are describing.
If this is something that just started recently, you might want to try using s System Restore point to go back to a time before the behavior started.
If this does not fix the problem, try creating a new User Account, Create a user account, log on with the new account and try to recreate the behavior.
If the behavior cannot be recreated with the new user account, this may indicate that your current user account is corrupted.
If this is the case, replace the corrupted account with a new account using the instructions in the following article.

  • Can one pin all items from the bookmark toolbar to the Windows 7 Taskbar Quicklaunch icon?

Is it possible to have the favorites toolbar displayed as 'pinned favorites' on the Windows 7 Taskbar?
I know I can just drag an favorite from the Favorites Toolbar to the Firefox Quicklaunch icon,
    but it looks really ugly;
It shows the default Firefox favicon with the web address partially displayed instead of the name
I have given it on the Bookmarks Toolbar.
Is there a way to preserve the favicon, and have the Favorites name displayed instead?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Nick.

    Heloo,
    thanks for the swift reply!
That does not resolve my issue.
My bookmarks toolbar is already nice and tidy. ([https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3fLyJeN1WiBYUV2aWloVVlGWHc/edit Screenshot])
What I am talking about, is getting them the same on the '''Windows 7 Taskbar'''.
They now look like [https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3fLyJeN1WiBRVlKT3hzQ2FLek0 this].
The example shown is the address of my GMail inbox.
I would like to have it just show "GMail inbox" for example, instead of the url it is referring to, with the GMail favicon.
