Windows 7 ultimate wireless connection to hp deskjet 6988 working except no printing both sides

I have new computer with windows 7 ultimate.  I have HP Deskjet 6988 printer with wireless connectivity.  I can print but cannot print double sided documents except by doing so manually.  Any solution?

Hi Onemangosta,
I would like to help with the garbled text you are experiencing. I have found a great document for you to use and I can also help you with the firmware update.
Troubleshoot text that might be gibberish, nonsense, or look garbled or scrambled
In order to update the firmware on your printer ensure the printer is on the wireless network and touch the Web Services icon (this icon is the 1st of the 4 that run across the top of the front panel - looks like 2 little cell phones). Scroll through the Web Services menu, find and select Product Updates, select Check for Product Updates.
If the printer is already up to date the front panel will say so, if it is not, the download and install will begin. It is possible you were unable to do the update form the computer because the printer does not need an update. The HP Device Updater will only see a printer that requires the update.
Hope this helps.

  • Windows 7 wireless connection to HP Deskjet 6980

My deskjet 6980 printer has been working flawlessly with Vista for many years.  Since I recently changed to a laptop with Windows 7 64bit I have not been able to connect wirelessly.  I have tried downloading the latest software and installing the printer through Windows but have had not success with either.  I have also tried connecting the printer through a router and through it's own built-in wireless connection.
Is there any way to connect this printer wirelessly to a Windows 7 machine?  Are HP going to introduce software for this in the future?
Any help would be much appreciated as not being able to print is a huge inconvenience!
    Thanks for your time
    Matt

I finally got my deskjet 6980 working on wireless network on Windows 7 64 bit.
Follow the following instructions Exactly! :
    1)      Go Here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SupportTaskIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=115&prodS...
    2)      Scroll down to "Network Setup" and click on : HP Deskjet 6840 and 6980 Printer series, and Officejet Pro K550dtwn Printer - Installing the Product...
    Suggestion based on my experience:
    - Follow the instructions closely.
    - I found a couple of steps to be different than indicated in the above links.. those steps were:
    a) Under Step 1 of Wireless Setup Only: "press the network butoon to print the product information" , but actually you gotta press the Report Page Button on the printer (one with image of sheet with a check mark) to printe the product info.
    b) Step 5 of Wireless Setup Only describes setup using advanced options, I just used the available Network Setup Wizard instead
    c) Step 7 and Step 8 of Wireless Setup Only ask you to "Disconnect Ethernet cable from the printer and t\print a test page using microsoft word..", but once i disconnected the ethernet cable the printer couldn't connect to the network wirelessly.  So, I had to restart the Printer, Router and Modem before the printer could connect to the wireless network.  Also, once the printer connects wirelessly to the network you may need to add the wireless Printer to your computer (i.e. Go to Start - Devices & Printers: right-click and delete existing Deskjet 6980 printer cuz that one is probably for wired network.  Then click on 'Add Printer' - select 'Wireless Printer' - select HP Deskjet 6980 from the list generated of all wireless printers available and ADD it and make it default printer.
    Good luck !

  • How do I connect my HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410a to a wireless connection

    HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410a
I am connected to a computer but would also like to connect it to my laptop wirelessly.
Can't do it.  Must be doing something wrong.  Need help thanks.

    Hi @5468,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are wondering how to connect your HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410a to a wireless connection. I am happy to look into this for you!
According to your printer's specifications and the Setup Poster, this printer can only be connected to a computer via a USB 2.0 printer cable connection. This printer does not have wireless capabilities.
Hope this answers your question, and have a great day!

  • Can't print both sides (manually) with Windows 7 but can with XP

My OfficeJet 5510 has "Print Both Sides" as an option on the "Finishing" tab, when I use it from the desktop running XP, which it's connected to with USB. That option doesn't appear anywhere when I try to print from my laptop running Windows 7, over a wireless network. This issue seems to be mentioned in many posts, but never seems to be answered. Is 2-sided printing (manually reinserting the pages) an option with Windows 7, or just with XP?

Hi  - The difference is that with XP, you're using the HP print driver and with Win7, you're using the Microsoft driver, since it doesn't look like HP made a "Full-featured" driver for the OJ5510, since Win7 came out well after the OJ5510 released.  Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'll be able to manually print on both sides of the page unless the software app you're printing from offers a feature.  If the app doesn't have an option specifically for manual duplexing, you might be able to specify printing only odd numbered pages, then re-loading those pages and printing the even numbered pages.  Not a great workaround, but at least an option.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I get my macbook OS X 10.5.8 to print both sides of paper with HP Officejet 6000 wireless

How do I get my macbook OS X 10.5.8 to print both sides of paper with HP Officejet 6000 wireless?

If it has that available, when the Print Dialog comes up, click on Copies & Pages, choose Layout, look for 2 sided printing... some Printer Drivers may have it under abother heading.

  • 1415 fnw printer wireless connection extremely slow or not working with OS X, works with windows

The wireless connection to the printer is either extremely slow or not working at all on OS X Yosemite.  It shows up in the list of printers in Bonjour in Safari, and I can connect to parts of the web interface if I wait a very long time.  However, I cannot add the printer as a new printer in System Preferences even though the printer shows up.
I have upgraded to the latest firmware.  The WiFi indicator on the printer is on, "green", and it has a reserved IP showing up in my router (ComCast).  It seems that Windows machines can printer to the printer wirelessly without a problem.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hello @sscotti,
I would like to assist you today with installing your wireless HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer on your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer. Now you indicate in your post that this printer works fine with Windows computers, and you are able to 'see' the Bonjour printer on your Mac. Therefore, the issue that you are experiencing is not network related. Rather, I do believe that you are experiencing a driver conflict on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. Can I please have you run the steps below to resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, I'm going to have you 'clean up' your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to verify that any trace of your Laserjet printer is gone so we have a nice clean slate to work with. Please click here and when the website opens select the drop down for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.10. Run the appropriate uninstall steps for the method in which you originally tried to install your printer: Apple Updates, or the HP Driver download.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the appropriate Mac OS X 10.10 drivers for your HP Laserjet printer.
Once the website opens select the 'download' button on the top left
Once the download has completed, please follow the onscreen steps to reinstall your printer.
Once the reinstall is complete, test the print and scan functions to ensure that your printer is functioning as per normal.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should you still be experiencing issues there are additional steps I can have you run through. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • Windows mobile wireless connectivity issues

    Hi all,
In our wireless network , windows mobiles 8.0 are not able to connect . The SSID is using WPA2/AES encryption with 802.1x auth. The remaining clients are able to connect to the network and working fine. Even from windows phone 8.1 , I am able to connect to the network. The only difference I am seeing between these two mobiles are supplicant. In WP 8.1 i am able to choose the PEAP/MSCHAPv2 with no server validation options.
In WP 8.0 , it is directly asking for UN/PWD.the WLC is 2504 with 7.2.103.0 code.

  • Deskjet 5525 printing random characters, one line per page when printing both sides of page

Hi. I have a deskjet 5525 wireless all in one printer.
I have installed all of the necessary hardware and have updated it. We have two computers running windows 7, 64 bit. I have not been able to update the firmware on the printer because the HP Device Updater program that does it cannot communicate with the printer via usb cable or wireless on two different computers I have tried.
When trying to print two sided documents, it will print ok for about two pages, but then, it will start printing on line per page of random characters, blurred lines of text, gargabe basically.
This is the second printer as the vendor replace the first one with the same problem. You would say, oh a software problem, but I have reinstalled the HP Deskjet 5520 series SW a couple of times, reinstalled the printer, but the problem continues.
An old HP deskjet 3845 worked for us pretty well on the same computers.
    Please help.

  • Windows 8 won't wirelessly connect to HP deskjet F2480

I have a new HP laptop with windows 8 and I tried setting up my HP Deskjet F2480 printer by connecting the usb cable.
The printer does show up under 'Devices' but shows it as being offline. Whenever I try printing something I just get a 'failed' message.
I know that the printer does work wirelessly as my previous laptop worked ok. I have checked that 'sharing' is on.
I have tried downloading up to date Windows drivers but no luck.
    Can anyone help please?

  • Deskjet 2544 wirelessly connects to all PCs on network, except mine.

I am having a great deal of difficulty tracking down a problem with connecting to a new printer we have at home. It was set up correctly to connect to our home router, and it definitely is connected with its own IP address.
All computers and mobile devices have successfully connected to this printer upon installing the drivers, except for one, which is connected to the router via ethernet, runs Windows 7 64bit.
I have tried every diagnostic utility and reinstalled the drivers multiple times to no avail. Windows itself can see the printer fine, but is unable to install it. When I try and add the device via the HP drivers by clicking 'Connect New Printer >> Wireless', instead of checking the network environment and finding the device it immediately moves on to the usb setup screen with the tickbox at the bottom for it already being set up to connect. I try and insist that the device is already connected to the network, which it is, and I then try and input its IP address manually at the next prompt, but the drivers still fail to detect it (even though windows sees the printer when I do 'Add New Printer' via Devices and Printers).
I have checked firewall and antivirus settings, attempting to connect with them both enabled and disabled.
There is something clearly wrong with my computer, as the other PCs on this network can connect just fine. I need some way of completely uninstalling any HP drivers and removing all registry entries correctly, so I can start from scratch again to see if there is some kind of driver corruption on my end. Either that, or I need a list of all the Windows services that are required by the drivers, so that I can check that they are running.
Thank you for any help that you can provide.
    For reiteration:
Spec: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
    Printer: Deskjet 2544
    Connected: Wireless - confirmed
Problem summary: One PC on home network can not connect to printer.

    Hi,
    My suggestion:
    (a) Give it a static IP address (keep the number)
    (b) From the computer which is wired connected to router add a printer and use its IP address.
    (c) Install software and drivers as required
    Regards.

  • Windows 8 wireless connection help

I have just bought a new windows 8 system (HP 2000) and I am having problems connecting to my home wi-fi. This PC and all others that are using this network have a security of Shared and a WEP encryption. this new pc has no Shared option. No other options
    work to connect.
    Thanks.

I would like to suggest the following:
Please check if the computer can connect to other wireless network or try other encryption methods such as WPA2.
Check if other Windows 8 computer can access the wireless network.
    Update the wireless network adapter.
In addition, please check the issue referring to the following documents:
    Wired and wireless network problems
Nicholas -  Your answer doesn't address the issue that WEP doesn't appear to be supported in Windows 8.  Yes, we know WEP isn't terribly secure, and we should really be using WPA2.  However, if you are not the network administrator or are
unable to change the security due a legacy device which doesn't support WPA, one would think Windows 8 would retain compatibility.
What HilowB52 is requesting, and what I would like to know as well, is a work around to enable a Windows 8 PC to connect via wireless using WEP encryption.

  • Windows 7 (64Bit) Ultimate: K80 connected via USB stops in the middle of printing

    Hi,
I recently got a new PC with Win 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. I connected the Printer through USB and all the drivers installed automatically. I was able to print.
However, if I print pages with just a little more data from time to time printing stops right after the first quarter to print and the printer ejects the paper and stops. Windows reports an error in the control panel by showing up the yellow exclamation mark.
HP Printer Installation tool just hangs, HP Print and Scan Doctor finds a prob in the printing queue and solves it after the problem has occured. However, the prob comes back very often, multiple times a day!
Some pages print ok, other (esp. if multiple pages) NOT.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there @OrganicMan
    Welcome to the forums
I read about the printing problems you have been facing with your new Windows 7 system, when printing to your Officejet K80. You mentioned that the Print and Scan Doctor will detect an issue with the Print Queue, and fix it temporarily, so I would suggest that you check the guide below and try out all of the steps it lists, as there may be something else causing the glitch. These steps should catch the problem.
I hope this fixes the issue for you!

  • Windows 10 Wireless Connection Issue

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 because I heard it would be fantastic but after the upgrade I could not connect to a wireless router. The router in my home is working fine and connects to other computers in the house as it always has but the upgrade to Windows 10 has completely stopped my ability to connect to wireless internet with this computer. With an ethernet cable I can still use the internet but that is useless because then it basically just becomes a desktop if I always need it plugged in to do everything. My laptop is only a few months old and ran like a charm before the upgrade to Windows 10. I tried to install updates for it while it was plugged into an ethernet but it did nothing. I have searched online to see if there is an update to my laptop that will fix this but nothing has helped. This also happened to a friend who has a Toshiba Satellite. I would post to Microsoft's website since this is obviously a problem with Windows 10 but I have tried to use the Microsoft forums in the past and I always get answers that walk me in circles. The HP Forums have always given me quality answers that actually helped me so I figured I would post here and hope for the best.
