Windows 7 unable to access ReadyNAS
Hi,
I'm having a lot of trouble getting access to my NAS from my Windows desktop computer. I use the NAS to backup my DVD-collection to use it with my media center, and it used to work perfectly without any problems. I have no idea when the problem started,
as I have not used or accessed the NAS since around christmas, but between then and now my Windows 7 computer will no longer access the NAS-shares. I'm unable to map the share through Explorer, and it won't show up on my network. I've been googling this problem
for days now, and I've tried a lot of different "solutions" without any luck, but I figured I should ask here.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit - I'm unable to see the SMB-share under Network, although it does show up as a media device if I enable DLNA, but clicking it will just attempt to open the NAS' admin GUI in my browser. XBMC is also unable to map SMB-shares,
which is where my problem turns really annoying. It does respond when I ping the IP. I've also made sure that Network Sharing is enabled in my homegroup settings.
The NAS is a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V2 - I've made sure it's on the same Workgroup as my computer. The sharing option is SMB, but it has enabled ReadyDLNA, UPNP, HTTP, HTTPS and genie (I don't know what the last one is...).
Again, I used to be able to see it in Windows Explorer and it mapped beautifully before. I have two laptops running Ubuntu (12.10 and 13.04), and my desktop also dualboots Ubuntu 14.04. While running Linux, I can access the Samba-shares again and navigate
the NAS without any problems. Everything is accessible, and I can both read and write to both disks in the NAS. The problem is only there while I'm running Windows, and as this is the OS I prefer, it's starting to bother me a lot. I have no idea what changes
I've done lately, but something has obviously changed on my Windows 7-partition which has removed the option of mapping samba-shares in Windows.
I hope someone here can give me a tip that finally helps me with this issue before my hair turns grey.
in your ReadyNAS there should be some user or folder rights settings.
Double check the user or folder rights settings.

Windows machines unable to access smb shares
I know many people are having problems with smb on osx server, but my issues seems very basic, so I will try to ask for help here.
Basically, I have set up a single folder for sharing on a Mac Mini running OSX Mountain Lion Server. Directory services are provided by a WIndows 2003 server, and I have joined OSX Server to that, and am able to see all AD users and groups correctly. I have checked the boxes specifying I wish to share as afp, smb and webdav and also made shares accessible to guests.
Now, if I use a mac client, I can correctly browse the afp and smb shares, and the latter work via finder and smbutil as expected, including access via AD users, connection and file transfer.
If, instead, I use a windows client (I tried both Win7Pro and WinXP), while being able to ping the osx server machine, if I try to "explore" (entering \\hostname in explorer) the shares I get a "Network error: impossible to access ..." (approximate translation, sorry ). I tried both using the hostname and the ip address, always getting the same result.
If I try via prompt with "net view \\hostname" I get a System Error 53 (Unable to find network path).
Does anyone know if I am doing anything wrong?
Thanks
ChristianI have done some further testing, and I can report that occasionally, I am able to connect from a windows 7 professional machine by issuing the following command:
net use z:\\hostname\share /user:DOMAIN\username
mostly this command returns a 53 system error, but sometimes I am asked for the user's password and am then able to access the shared folder for a brief time. -
Windows clients unable to access File Sharing since upgrading to Mavericks Server
This summer, I have been tasked to upgrade all the Macs on campus to Mavericks. Including upgrading to Server 3.1.2. Previously, we had an Xserve that ran 10.6.8 Server and two Mac mini servers that ran 10.8 Servers. We have a new Mac mini to replace the Xserve and, initially, everything was pretty smooth. I built the server from scratch, with the intention of using the 10.6.8 server as reference, only adapting to Profile Manager, instead of using Workgroup Manager.
The only problem I had when I started was that I couldn't get Active Directory to create home folders on my Mac Server "NetUsers" volume when adding a Home Folder path. After playing around with it, I completely hosed the Server and decided to start over. Now, after a clean install, I can't get any Windows users to connect to the share on the Mac Server. It declares: "\\MacServer is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in. For example: blank passwords aren't allowed, sign-in times are limited, or a policy restriction has been enforced." What's more (that I may not have noticed two weeks ago or it just started, I don't know), the 10.8 server that I upgraded to 10.9 also is not accessible and gives the same error. However, I can access all these file shares from Macs using either smb or afp.
I'm suspicious that this issue is related to SMB1 vs. SMB2 that was implemented differently in Mavericks.
Please, any help on this would be a life-saver. School starts too soon and I need this running on day one!!!Had the same issue and spent 4 solid days tracking it down (looking in all the wrong places.)
For us, it turned out to be a problem in DHCP services configuration.
For the subnet under the WINS tab, the NetBIOS Scope had a '1' inserted into the field. Apple's tag when hovering the mouse over the field indicated a domain be insterted.
This prevented the Windows XP machines from successfully registering with SAMBA. Once the field was blanked out and saved, the (one machine) needing to be joined found the PDC and successfully bound to the directory.
Blank out the NetBIOS Scope field in DHCP (assuming a simple LAN environment) and you may be in good shape. -
Windows Users Unable to Access SL Server
I am attempting to have Windows clients access the SL server as AD users. I have AD/OD configured in a Magic Triangle with 10.5 and 10.6 clients being managed properly and accessing everything normally. smb services are enabled, all users and groups appear to have access according to Server Admin but I cannot login to the SL server as an AD user from a W2K machine. I'm probably missing something obvious, so I apologize for any ignorance on my part. Any ideas on how to gain access under Windows are welcome.
Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to access OWA in Exchange 2007, please follow these steps: -

Windows 10 unable to access CIFS
I am unable to connect a windows 10 enterprise client to our cifs shares We use DFS on our windows server – so normally I would just map to the root of that \\domain\home I have tried adding the reg key as detailed here and elsewhere without success https://techjourney.net/cannot-connect-to-cifs-smb-samba-network-shares-shared-folders-in-windows-10/ Typically I normally disable SMB signing on windows 8/server 2012 clients but SMB signing negotiation seems to be optional now, and the reg key I would create gets rejected by windows 10 I do not want to start making wide ranging changes to my netapp, but if it improves security I am happy to do so The client is domain joined, and I have an account which is both local admin and domain admin running on it for testing Any advice greatly received – this is a tad inconvenient
Hi, After some more personal digging around (my support ticket was getting nowhere fast) I have managed to successfully browse CIFS shares on my snapmirror filer at our DC.To do this I had to enable cifs signing and bounce the cifs service. FILER> cifs terminateCIFS local server is shutting down...CIFS local server has shut down...
FILER> options cifs.signing.enable on
FILER> cifs restart
CIFS local server is running.
Can't set cifs branchcache server secret. This filer is running 8.1.4P1 7-Mode This weekend we have a full power shutdown at our production site so I will try this on power up. It's so hard to get the users to close down their connections!!!! One thing I did notice though. The filer does not show the W10 client using security signatures - output from cifs sessions -t Using domain authentication. Domain type is Windows 2000.
Root volume language is not set. Use vol lang.

Touchsmart Iq506t Windows 7, Unable to acess s-video input from windows media center.
System: Hp Touchsmart IQ506T
Windows 7
Avermedia (A327) Hybrid mini Pcie Tv Tuner (NTSC/ATSC)
I purchase this system used without an operating system. I installed windows 7 and downloaded the drivers from Hp. All drivers are installed properly and the Avermedia (A327) mini card driver can be seen in device manager.
Yet, the A327 tv tuner will not give me access to the s-video input. I can get tv thru the rf connection but I want to use the s-video because it has a cleaner signal.
Any information about the s-video port will be appreciated..
Thank you..Hi Cnmarsh,
I understand you are having an issue with the Touchsmart Iq506t with Windows 7, unable to access s-video input from Windows Media Center.
I read from your post that drivers are installed properly and the Aver media mini card drivers are seen in device manager.
I was wondering if the any of the drivers in Device Manager have a Yellow caution?
Also, is the Touchsmart Iq506t software all up to date?
You could try to download and run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool with this link.

Using CUPC7/CUPC8.6 and Jabber for windows...unable to access voicemail.
Setup includes CUCM9.0, Unity Connection 9.0, Presence 9.0....
steps taken to configure(and results acheived)
1-users created locally on CUCM and Enabled for IM and Presence.
2-able to login to clients (CUPS7/8.6 and Jabber) but getting error Voicemail Error. The server has rejected the provided credentials. [1903]
in order to verify there is nothing wrong with the credentials...i checked on unity and i am sure it's the PIN(12345) i need to use .
Can Anyone help me out here...Thanks in advance. It's not looking for your PIN - that is only used over DTMF-based interactions - it's looking for your CUC password. If the mailbox is synced from LDAP and you have LDAP Auth enabled on CUC, then this would be your AD password. If it's synced over AXL, not synced at all, or LDAP synced but without Auth, then there will be an alphanumeric password field on the mailbox under Edit > Change Passwords.

Lenovo G50-30 Unable to access BIOS settings after Windows recovery
Hi
I recently 'downgraded' a recently purchased Lenovo G50-30 with preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 using a UEFI USB install on a GPT partition. I also updated the BIOS from A7CN40WW to the latest A7CN43WW and all was working fine. However, after performing a necessary restore of an system image created using the Windows 7 backup and restore tool, I am suddenly unable to access the BIOS settings, either with the novo button (I do get the menu to select BIOS) or with Fn +F2. All that happens is that I receive a blank screen with a static cursor in the upper left corner. I can however still access the boot menu Fn +F12. This is a particular pain as I obviousl can't select USB 3.0 in BIOS.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.OK, I managed to clear CMOS by disassembling and desoldering a leg off the the RTC battery but to no avail. The problem seems to be that BIOS a7cn43ww itself has somehow been corupted. In theory this should be able to be resolved by a reflash. The trouble here is there seems to be no way to reflash with a current or previous BIOS version, so I'll have to either wait for a newer version or someone may know better.
C'mon Lenovo support this simply isn't good enough. It's a brand new laptop and I'm considering returning it for a refund. -
Unable to access a windows 7 Workstation via RDP
Hi,
I have a windows 7 Pro SP1 workstation that I’m unable to access from any other machine via RDP...
This is a domain environment.
The machine in question is 100% up to date. (WSUS)
It's running an up-to-date anti-virus solution and has been scanned. (Panda cloud) (No firewall)
This is on a local network, no router involved.
Can ping the machine, can see network shares.
Checked that it's listening on the correct port.
Necessary services are running and are starting correctly.
Configured RDP correctly and tried different configurations (with and without NLA and adding/removing users)
This machine seems to be able to RDP into other machines, it just wont accept any sessions.
Assigning the necessary exclusions in firewall - no effect
Firewall is disabled by GPO and I have stopped the service - no effect.
Deleted the computer certificate - no effect.
uninstalled the RDP 8 update - no effect
Tried using both the IP and hostname - no difference
I'm completely out of ideas, no other machine I tested with is having this issue and all the domain machines are running same AV and same GPO's are applied.
Re-installation is not an option.
Below is the error - very unhelpful.
Kind Regards,
StephenHi Hinte,

I am unable to access my LR5.7 Catalog of my recent holiday. I am running Windows 7 (64Bit) and recently installed and then uninstalled DxO Optics Pro. The error message says it "cannot be opened because another application already has it opened.Quit the other copy of Lightroom before trying to launch" The problem is, that I can only see one copy of LR5 open and cannot locate the ".lrcat.lock" file for the specific catalog I want to open. I have tried re-booting my computer, but this did not work.
Thanks Geoff. I was finally able to locate the ".lrcat.lock" file relevant to the catalog I want to open. Once I deleted it, LR5 was able to access my images. Problem solved. THANK YOU

Unable to access applications in workspace, shared services
Hi ,
I am Unable to access applications in workspace and shared services on EPM 11.1.1.3. It happened after normal shutdown/startup scripts were run.
But when I reconfigure the Weblogic web server and run the services again I can access the applications. This is happening frequently now.
Is this anything related to user profiles on the server as we are migrating these to other server.
Can any one help me with this .
