Windows 7 updates fail behind SBS 2003 and ISA 2004

Windows 7 update is failing with 'Code 80072EFD'.  I am using SBS 2003 with ISA 2004.  We just recently updated the client machine from Windows XP.  WSUS is completely disabled from SBS 2003 and all updates are download directly from windows
update server.  Updates were working fine before we updated the machine to Windows 7.
How can I fix updates for the Windows 7 machine?

Hi,
Based on your description, please refer to following article and check if can help you.

Download the Fireworks updater from here:

When you have downloaded and extracted the file right click and then click "run as Adminstrator".
It should work for you. I had the same issue and did this and everything worked,

From the logfiles you supplied, it appears that SP1 for .NET FW 1.1 is missing.
These security updates will not install if you don't have SP1 for .NET FW 1.1 installed.

  • Client PC migration fails from SBS 2003 to SBS 2012 Essentials

Please check out this entire message before making an assumption about what it says, thanks.
Our old SBS 2003 Server hard failed a few weeks ago.
Rather than repair it, we ordered a new server with SBS 2012 Essentials and loaded the backup data from the old server.
The Server is just fine.  We are having no issues whatsoever with the server.  I kept the old domain name and server name.
The Client Computers, some Win7 some Win8.1, have turned into a nightmare to re-connect.
What happens is, the user can log in, but has no files in desktop, downloads or documents, nothing has been migrated:
The process I'm using is this:
1> I take them off the old domain and set them up as workgroup: NOGROUP... that works fine.
2> I bring up http://SERVERNAME/connect and begin installing the server software, no problem yet...
            >> This goes to a point where it asks for a restart, followed by a lot more waiting.
            >> Eventually it crashes with a message I have, unfortunately, not documented (sorry).
3> When I restart the PC, I'm able to log into the user account : DOM\username, but none of the users files are there.
Looking at the file tree at C:\Users I see a folder structure like this:
      C:\Users
            |_   _client.setup_  (essentially empty)
            |_  username         (the old account... and yes, it has all of the files and app data)
            |_  username.DOM (the new account, but essentially empty)
It appears that the setup was supposed to migrate 'username' thru '_client.setup_ into 'username.DOM' but failed.
I can move all of the data from 'username' to 'username.DOM' to solve the data and files problem.
But the AppData folder cannot be moved in its entirety (I tried, and it clobbers the user completely), I have to manually transfer files from 'username\AppData' folders (Local, LocalLow and Roaming) making sure to transfer only the files that don't exist
    in the 'username.DOM\Appdata' folders.
I realize that this process leaves me with a 'Less Than Perfect' AppData setup.
Since I have many Clients left to convert, I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong, or how to make it right.

With a new server with a new domain you have started down the right path.  Disjoin and the http:// technique should have worked, but we can address that when you can give us more info.
When joining a new domain the old users profiles get blocked by security to the new users.  But the local admin or the domain admin should have access.  The way I do it is to copy out the required data from the old profile to a safe place then
copy it back to the new profile when finished.  But there are profile migration wizards, one of them at
    www.forensit.com, that work very well.
As for the system crash when you did the join... please see if you can get the message, and then examine the logs in both the server and the client.   For the server, look here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2014/09/30/windows-server-essentials-log-files.aspx
For the client, scroll down in the link above to the section about client side logs.

  • Windows 7 update fails with error 8000FFFF

I've got a Windows 7 x64 installation that I've had for around three months.  Everything has been fine and working up until a few weeks ago.  When I run Windows Update it finds updates and allows me to select them, but when I run the install it fails with error 8000FFFF.  Update used to work, but then suddenly quit.
I've dug through tons of forum and web sites regarding this specific error, but they all of their solutions do nothing to fix my problem.  In frustration I decided to put in a spare hard drive and install Windows 7 from scratch.  I did that and the first thing I tried to do after logging in was updates and it failed for the same reason (8000FFF).
I have the same situation with a Windows Storage Server 2008 x64 that I have as well.  It has been runing for about six months or more and updates were working fine.  Then update started failing for the same or some other reason about the same time.  On this machine I can start the update and see it report a percentage downloading the update.  It gets to about 5 or 6 percent and then fails.
Is there some possible networking issue at play in my situation?  I have earlier Windows versions (XP, XP64, Svr 2003 and Svr 2003 R2) and updates work fine on those.  I know those are using a different mechanism, but I do not notice any other kind of networking issues from my house to the Internet.  I have not changed anything or any settings in my firewall at all.  Is there some specific protocol, port or something that has to work prefectly in order for the new Windows update to work?
All of my machines are pretty much Intel based.  Win7 box is a Core2Duo on an EVGA 680i motherboard.  The servers are Intel Xeons with Intel motherboards, chipsets and nics.
Thanks for any advice and help

Wow, suddenly I have the same bizarre error at 11% of downloading, then error #8000FFFF.
Fix IT, registry keys and SoftwareDistribution folder cleaning, uninstalling previous updates, manual downloading of appropriate updates and attempt do install it and creating/deleting user profiles - don't work at all.
    Any new ideas?
    Thanks,
    Win7 x64 SP1

  • [bug ?] Windows 7 update fails on Flash Player 32/64-bit plugin

    Hi!
Windows 7 (x32) update fails on
Adobe Flash Player 32-bit Plugin 11.0.1.152
Adobe Flash Player 64-bit Plugin 11.0.1.152
with error codes  6BA and 80070661.
Hangs in my update center since November 2011.
Feel free to ask for any details.

Update4: Most likely the problem is on our side, see  my post below.
Thanks, Jeromie, it has worked. [see update below]
However, it would be interesting to know what gone wrong and how could I prevent this.
Also, I don't know how Flash updates work, but it would certainly be good, if I could update from my Windows Update server.
Consider my company: most users (about 250) have weekly internet-traffic limit of about 50 MB (no problems with bandwidth, only to force people not to visit entertainment sites).
Hence, most users will ignore Flash Player updates, just to save few precious MBs.
    Update:
Errors have returned few hours later after reinstall [1].
I've noticed that update process passes "download" and "creating recovery point" phases,
and error occurs on about 30% of installation of 32-bit plugin update.
If you'll point me at some system log, I'll be happy to provide more info.
    Update3:
Maybe the problem is in our  Windows Update server ?
[1] I've unistalled both "Flash Player 11 Plugin" and "Flash Player 11 ActiveX",
maybe I should have also uninstalled AIR ?
Edit2 I've uninstalled both and then rebooted once. Maybe I should have rebooted
after each uninstall (i.e. 2 reboots in total)  ?

  • Windows 8 Updates fail

KB 2769165 and 2770917 fail to install on Windows 8 Pro

This issue can be fixed temporarily by turning off the checkbox for 'Check for Microsoft Updates'.  Those would be for things other than windows.  Strangely, when you select this to not check (by default on install it is checked) it disappears
from the screen for later reversal.  This has fixed all the pc's I have assessed that were having trouble updating windows.  This is a clue to the real issue, which Microsoft should be addressing, as it disables all other updates from Microsoft which
I would imagine have to do with Office, Hardware and others...  This is definitely a HUGE issue since no Windows Defender updates can be performed while the windows update feature is broken, exposing the user to malware that they would not necessarily
have been exposed to.  In addition, it forces the end users to look for solutions since Microsoft, in each and every blog entry, forum entry or email shoots recommendations at the users who may or may not be technically savvy to perform.  Many of
the recommendations could have harmful results to the end users pc if they were not to apply them correctly, and in many cases, the recommendations are written in such a manner that the sequence and application of the recommendation are unclear and left to
the end user to assume.  Not good.  You better get this fixed and soon.  I will not be recommending anyone migrate to Windows 8 new or upgraded until this issue is addressed, fully and without question.  This is a reproduce-able issue that
can and has been reproduced by many, many end users to date and for the life of me I cannot understand why Microsoft has not reproduced the issue and created a surefire solution that works all the time, in every case.

    Hi,
You can also run Windows Troubleshooter, disable your antivirus and firewall temporarily, perform
    clean boot for a test.

  • Exchange 2010, Outlook Anywhere, Autodiscover, SAN Certs and ISA 2004

    Hi
Everything I have read says that SAN certs do not work with ISA 2004.  However I have read through the "White Paper: Understanding the Exchange 2010 Autodiscover Service" document to understand my options (url below) and notice that the SAN
cert option in the "Summary of supported scenarios for connecting to the Autodiscover service from the Internet" section implies that ISA 2004 may be able to work:
"Requires additional configuration if used together with either ISA Server 2004 or ISA Server 2006"
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj591328(v=exchg.141).aspx
Does anyone know if there is a supported ISA 2004 scenario where SAN certs can work?
    Thanks!

It's highly doubtful, since ISA 2004 has been in extended support for two years.  See
http://blogs.technet.com/b/isablog/archive/2009/10/05/mainstream-support-ending-for-isa-server-2004-standard-edition-sp3.aspx for details about ISA 2004 support - it goes totally out of support next year.

  • ColdFusion RDS and ISA 2004

I can't get this to work to save my life...not that I'm an
ISA expert...but it's pretty straight forward.
I can't get folders to be returned to CF Studio or
Dreamweaver from a server with ISA 2004 on it. It's publishing
pages perfectly and I have the LAN connection set up...but it's at
a datacenter and I have to rds to work on the pages.
Has anyone had a problem with this before or know (even
better) of how RDS fits into ISA?
    Thanks a lot,
    Chris

The answer for me was to uncomment the RDS servlet sections
    in the
    web.xml file on the server.

  • After installing update failed cant access itunes and reinstall didnt work

I was prompted to install the new itunes update when I accessed itunes today. (I was in the middle of accessing my music to send for a show, Im a aerial performer, magician and burlesque performer). The instal failed and now I can not open Itunes at all. I tried to install again and that failed. I keep getting "this application failed to start because MSVCR80.dill was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." followed by this message "Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes. Error 7 (windows error 126)"
What do I do? I need to access my music... I went to the website and downloaded the app again and nothing...it failed too.
What do I do? I cant afford to have lost 1000's of songs many of which I paid to have mixed and created for my performances.

I have finally found a solution!!! Yea! (It was in an obscure hard to find support article from apple only found after googling error messages, though why it wouldn't come up in an apple search is silly to me) So... you can not just uninstall Itunes because the problem lies within the support software that comes with itunes.
You must uninstall IN THIS ORDER (per Apple)
    1. Itunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4. Bonjour
    5. Apple Application Support
    6. Icloud
Then you must restart your computer (I got an error message that some files could not be opened because aspects were missing) I then downloaded the most current Itunes from the computer and the problem was gone. All files came up with the new download. Program opened with no issue.
Hope this helps the rest of you having this issue.

  • Update fails behind a MS ISA proxy server

We have all our clients behind a MS ISA proxy server. When
Flash player tries to update itself, or when you try to install it
from the download site, a network connection for the update times
out over and over. The only way to get around this has been to set
the configuration on the ISA server so that the workstation is
allowed to use anonymous authentication through the ISA server.
This is a royal pain in the neck and not something I can leave
configured for 60+ users. Anyone know of a fix or work around for
this? Even downloading the installer through a browser other than
IE and installing it doesn't seem to install the whole player.
    Thanks in advance!
    ML

    Hum,
I've got the same problem with any kind of proxies.
And this is not news. Every other apple apps use the proxy config, but not mail since Tiger.
    Why?
There is an ugly method by using some proxifier to open outgoing ssh tunnel, but, as i said, that's ugly and this solution needs to have an access to SSH server.
