Windows 7 Upgrade - iTunes no longer see's my remote Airport Expresses

Before upgrading from Vista to Windows 7, I deinstalled iTunes. After upgrading, I reinstalled the latest iTunes from Apple. iTunes appeared to be working fine until I played the 1st song. It could not find/connect the 2 remote Airport Express units. Interestingly, the icon at bottom right of iTunes initially showed the multiple choices but now it does not show anything. Also, the computer shows my APPLE network as strong and working just fine. The APPLE network is one of the Airport Express units. So, I am connected to the network OK . . . it is just iTunes that can no longer see the multiple locations to stream music. Am using an HP laptop, really strong and just purchased last year. Prior to upgrading Windows 7, everything had been working perfectly. H E L P

I suspect that the problem may be the Windows 7 firewall settings are preventing AirTunes from negotiating a connection to either AirPort Express Base Station (AX).
To check your Windows 7 firewall setting: Control Panel > Systems and Security > Windows Firewall. Select Turn Windows Firewall on or off. For troubleshooting, temporarily disable the Windows Firewall.
Your PC should now be able to stream to the AX. Please post back your results.

  • Upgraded iTunes no longer "sees" my airport express and will not network

Since upgrading to iTunes 8.2, iTunes no longer recognizes or sees my airport express (there is no longer an option box on the lower right area of the iTunes info so I can select computer speaker or additional speakers. The iTunes help says it should recognize the network when it starts, but it doesn't. My Airport is working properly. Sure would like to get those living room speakers back in the game!

I updated Airport Utility to 5.4.2 and even though it ended up telling me I hadn't changed my settings on the AE I use to play iTunes on my stereo, after the update of my Base and Express, the Multiple Speakers box appeared again on iTunes the next time I opened the iTunes window. Also, AU managed to, for the very first time, give me a solid green light on the AE, after a year + of blinking orange. So my advice is to update your Airport Utility and run it.

  • My Windows XP and Windows 7 iTunes no longer 'see' my AppleTV since latest update (25/02/2013). Also, my AppleTV tells me I must turn on Home Sharing which is already turned on.

My Windows XP and Windows 7 iTunes no longer 'see' my AppleTV since latest update (25/02/2013). Also, my AppleTV tells me I must turn on Home Sharing which is already turned on. I have the little arrow that normally selects my AppleTV in iTunes but AppleTV is no longer listed (only My Computer). Is there an issue with the latest update. This is probably my fault by telling everyone how good AppleTV is and that it just works! Doesn't work any more :-( I have tried all the usual restarting of AppleTV and PCs. I'm having to revert back to the Samsung Blu-ray player's PC sharing :-(

Restarted router(s) and it works again.

  • Itunes crashes on addition of artwork to movie folder and apple tv (2nd generation) will not see itunes while itunes plays playlist over wireless network to airport express??

I have 4 non apple pc exhibiting same issue. Whether you have ten movies on board the pc or 500 on external storage Itunes locks up after you "get info" and try to add video cover from IMDB whether the art is in my pictures on PC or off USB key / external storage. Very frustrating to the extent that I bought a macbook thinking that it may be a non apple issue and bingo same issue whether films on macbook or on nas/ external usb. Effectively itunes may be made to crash by adding artwork!
2nd Issue noticed at weekend I have a small music library of approx. 35gb music in itunes music folder when a playlist was being played within itunes and airplay was selected to an airport express that is connected to distributed music system in house all works well during party. Guest have access to DJ app via remote app or control of content being player. My kids disappeared into the front room and while playlist on notices 2 things. The ipod touch ( 4 mths old) would not connect to apple tv player 2nd generation while airplay on to music system and the infra red remote remote worked fine but apple tv would not see video files in itunes while airplay on. When airplay disabled all absolutley fine , re- enabled airplay and apple tv bumped again. I have a wireless N router and have successfully had 2 apple tv 2nd generation working off itunes video files without issue. There are delays but both are seen in remote app and both players see itunes folders. I would have thought video streaming to apple tv players sucked up more bandwidth that one airplay to airport express and one apple tv 2nd gen.
    Anyone experienced same

OK - I managed to fix this. Will document for others.
I started to think it was a firewall thing. So I turned off both my Windows 7 firewall and my BT Home hub firewall. It started working!
So turned back on the BT home hub firewall - still working. So it must be a windows 7 firewall.
Went in and checked that Itunes was there as an exception... Yep. So why still not working?
Found out that the entry in my Windows 7 firewall said I-Tunes - but when you looked at the details button it wasnt pointing to a program - it was just blank.
So added a new entry and pointed that at the I-Tunes exe file.
    Now all working...

  • I have not been able to see my ATV or Airport Express.

I have not been able to see my ATV or Airport Express listed under the airplay icon in itunes 11. This started since I upgraded to iTunes 11 on my Windows 8 laptop.
My ATV is hardwired to the wireless router. My laptop and airport express connect to home network wirelessly. All devices are running their latest versions.
    Any ideas?

    Who is your ISP?

  • ITunes 7 Can't Access AirTunes with Airport Express

After upgrading to iTunes 7 I can't no longer play music through my Airport Express. It worked fine in iTunes 6. It shows up in the pull-down menu, but I can't select it.
On another machine that already had my APE selected, I now get a message "None of the selected remote speakers could be found on your network. Please configure your network settings and AirTunes configuration..."
    Any ideas??

You have to make sure IPv6 is turned on in the Network System Preference panel. System Preferences -> Network -> Airport -> TCP/IP -> Configure IPv6 -> Automatically.

  • I have just changed internet providers from BT to Virgin, and now my iTunes doesn't show any of my airport express devices.

I have just changed internet providers from BT to Virgin, and now my iTunes doesn't show any of my airport express devices.  I assume that I have to reconfigure them to the the new wireless but how do I do this frmo my PC?  Thanks

I would recommend that you start by performing a "factory default" reset on each of your AirPort Express base stations. Once completed, you can use the following Apple Support article to configure each base station for streaming.

    Hello Hornet12,
Indeed, iTunes 10.2 or later will be required to utilize AirPlay.
    Using AirPlay

  • Upgraded iTunes: now cannot see the Podcasts on my iPod nano

I know it sounds odd but I am genuinely sad that I have not been able to use my iPod for two days:
I bought an iPod nano when they first came out and have been very happy with it. Two days ago I upgraded iTunes for the first time (to 7.6.2.9). Since then I have not been able to "see" the Podcasts on my Nano from iTunes.
This is an issue because it is mostly full of music which I'd rather not delete, and the remainder is Podcasts which I download, load, and delete every day.
If I cannot delete the old Podcasts, I cannot fill it up with new ones.
The first thing I did was to upgrade the iPod firmware (to 1.3.1) but I still can't see the Podcasts. I have tried to read the documentation and go through all settings in iTunes, look on the web but with no success.
My friend has a similar generation iPod and iTunes (~7.5). On this version of iTunes, the Podcasts are also gone. When I plug in my friend's iPod it has a Podcast icon as well as the Music icon. The older version of iTunes let me, I think, see the Podcasts together with the Music.
Could I somehow have "deleted" a Podcast icon which iTunes need? Can it be restored save for wiping my beloved iPod clean? Can I gracefully downgrade to an old version of iTunes without losing my Music/Podcast library?
Is anyone familiar with the problem?
    Regards,
    Allan

Allan is this the same problem I have - downloaded a couple of chapters of a podcast onto nano - and they played fine - although I had to search for them to find them. Then connected to computer and wanted to search to delete them but no search brings them up? If it is the same, have you resolved your issue? I have same problem that no more room to store so I want to get rid of the listened to podcasts.(ps I'm on windows not mac) Thanks, Ele

  • Itunes no longer see's my Iphone4 :/

Right, i got an Iphone4 yesterday and synced a load of stuff via itunes which all worked fine. This morning I wanted to add photos from my computer to my Iphone, however when i chose the folder through Itunes it always showed as empty when it wasnt.
I did some googling and fond that i could drag photos into the iphone just like any device, however Windows 7 didnt recognise my iphone, so i had to uninstall it and let it discover it.
To my annoyance my iphone or windows wouldnt let me drag my photos into the iphone dcm folder or copy and paste. I also wanted to delete photos off my iphone library and theres no delete option (how stupid, every phone has that).
Since uninstalling my phone and letting Windows discover it, my itunes no longer sees my iphone ! I re installed it and reinstalled Itunes but nothing.
    What can i do?
Why is it so dam complicated to move and delete things. Thats the only downside to Iphones! oh and the tiny keyboard so you delete things when you want to press a key etc
Any help would be grand, ive been googling it for an hour and not found anything that works.

  • ITunes no longer allowing use of remote app or recognizing remote speakers

Weird problem as all of this worked as of 24 hours ago. I am no longer able to share my music (either via the remote app or between two computers on the same local network) nor will iTunes recognize the existence of remote speakers (again, all worked fine as of yesterday).
I've made no changes to firewall, etc. I've confirmed the network is functioning, the Airport express is connected, all current versions, etc. Firewall allows incoming connections for iTunes. Further, i've tried:
    1) Restarting iTunes, the iMac in question and the iPad
    2) Using remote on two different devices
    3) hard rebooting the airport connected to my stereo
    4) reinstalling iTunes and remote
Home sharing is turned on however the iPad's remote app cannot find any libraries. When i try to add a library outside of home sharing, iTunes doesn't see any device trying to connect.
I'm well stumped. Anyone else finding this issue and are there any suggestions?

Same problem. I'm running itunes 10.1.2.17 under win 7.
Here's what I did to fix the problem. Basically you need to create a new exception in your firewall to allow itunes UDP communication.
    control panel>system & security>Windows firewall.
    Advanced settings>inbound rules
    New Rule> Program > browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and pick itunes.exe
    Allow the connection>next>next
Give it a name like iTunesUDP.
Now click on your new rule "iTunesUDP" and select properties.
Click the protocals and ports tab.
    under protocal type select UDP.
    That should do it.
Let me know if it worked for you.

  • Base station no longer detected (see post also in Airport Express Forum)

I have stuffed up configuration settings for Airport Express via the Airport Admin Utility and can't undo them.
    - Mac OS X 10.5.3 on iMAC
    - AX Model number A1088
    - Airport Utility 5.3.2
    - Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow 4.2.5
I originally set up AX on Tiger - no problems. I upgraded to 10.5.3 still no probs.
While trying to set up a wireless connection for my MP600R printer, I was 'experimenting' to help it find the access point. I went to Airport Admin Utility for G&S (don't know why!), clicked 'configure' and set up the base as WDS thinking this would help the printer detect access point. I had never previously touched Graphite and Snow and never set anything up.
Result was that Airport Utility/AX could no longer detect my network and I lost wireless internet connection.
I went back to Admin Utility but 'configure' button is greyed out. I tried manually connecting to network name but had password problems. I tried to reinstall AX from disc but I got an error saying AX not compatible with the selected drive (which is now 10.5.3)!! I reset AX but I can't restore passwords because AX Utility can't find my network!
    HELP!

Firmware is uploaded onto the base station itself and is different from AirPort Utility. Although you probably cannot confirm it without connecting to the base station, I think it highly unlikely that you use a firmware version earlier than 6.1.1 (which came out in 2004). If newer firmware is contained in software on your computer, AirPort Admin Utility and/or AirPort Utility should have prompted you to upload it to the base station, whereas if it is not on your computer, Software Update (assuming you use it) should have prompted you to obtain it. Even if your firmware is older than version 6.1.1, the reset procedure is virtually the same--in that case, you won't see the AX's status LED flashing rapidly a few seconds after you start holding the reset button, and you will just need to hold the reset button for 10 full seconds.
Once you connect to the base station, you should be able to see the firmware version (e.g., "Base Station Vx.x" where x.x is the firmware version) on the opening screen of AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow, when the base station is highlighted. I imagine that AirPort Utility shows similar information. I believe that in AirPort Utility, you can also check to see if newer firmware is available from Apple (choose "Check for Updates" in the AirPort Utility menu). To the best of my knowledge, the most current firmware version for AirPort Express is 6.3.
