WINDOWS 7 UPGRADE PROBLEM, PLEASE HELP

Hi, I am in Australia, and have a 64-bit HP DV7. I filled out the application form to upgrade but when I put the model number in, it automatically chose wiindow home premium 32-bit - the problem is, it is greyed out and won't let me change it to 64-bit...I can't place the order as it's wrong for my operating system. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

I recently purchased a Thinkpad T500 and signed up for the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Program. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to elsewhere. I was hoping some of you could help:
1) Will the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade disc include both the 32 and 64 bit install options? My T500 came loaded with Vista Ultimate 32, but I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 if possible.
2) I've recently heard a lot about the Lenovo Enhanced Experience. Can anyone briefly explain what this is? Will I be able to take advantage of all the EE features with my T500 using the Windows 7 Upgrade?
3) My computer came pre-loaded with 3 drives (or maybe they're partitions?): C:, Q: (Lenovo), and S: (ServiceV003). How will these drives/partitions be affected with the Windows 7 Upgrade if I opt for a clean install? Will I be able to eliminate the Q: and S: drives if I want? (I have a Samsung Solid State Drive by the way, in case this matters.)
4) Finally, when will the Upgrade discs be shipping? Lenovo and Mentor Media have been rather silent about when we will receive our upgrades. Can we expect an e-mail update indicating that our order has shipped?

1. Bit foggy on this. Will have to do a clean install for sure. Not sure if 32 and 64 bit are on same disk. As you have ultimate, you might be at an advantage here.
2. Look at the videos in other threads. You will get "some" of the benefit. I'm actually guessing wiht a clean install, you will have afaster machine than one of the EE ones with all of the crapware
3. re-partition into a single drive. They will be of no use to you. Or, pop out the drive and clean install to a new SSD ($250) or WD Scorpio Black ($75) drive for extra speed. I'm doing this giving me the option of putting the old drive back in to have Vista in factory condition if I ever need to (I don't expect to and will probably wipe the drive and re-use it in 6 months).
4. Other thread suggested 1/2 have shipped and rest will ship next week.

Z97M Gaming windows 7 installing problem, please help

hi everyone. I hope someone could help me. This is my setup I just built:
MSI Z97M Gaming (latest bios updated, v1.4)
Intel Core I5 4690S Cpu
2 sticks of Gskill DDR3 (2x4GB) 2400Mhz
Nvidia 970GTX 4GB PCIE video card
Samsung EVO 840 - 250GB SSD (latest firmware updated)
Corsair 750W PSU
And this is the problem: when i boot (from USB) Windows 7 SP1 setup, it runs fine until it asks me for a driver (which is missing) in order to proceed with installation. I suppose it's SATA driver, so I've copied last version of Asmedia SATA driver in my usb key. But when i point to it, windows setup says that no driver has been found! So it doesn't show the ssd and I can't proceed with setup. I've tried every subfolder of the "asmedia_sata_win78" main folder.
Also, I set LEGACY+UEFI mode in bios. I've also tried IDE mode for the sata controller, but nothing works
Any suggestion, please? Sorry for the bad english

do you have any other storage to try say standard HDD? to try it instead this SSD

i suspect something isn't ok with your installation disk
since its unclear is it 32bit or 64bit and since accept 32bit drivers only
can you use a better one? and to make sure that it would have SP1 integrated

Windows 7 Beta problem - PLEASE HELP ME :(

I'm running the recently released Windows 7 public beta, and have so far got iTunes running and all my songs sorted out fine. But when I try to connect my iPod Classic, neither iTunes nor my PC recognises it, except for an unresponsive "iPod" entry under "Other Devices" in the device-manager (unresponsive in the sense that I have no option other than to scan for changes).
I've tried everything I can find on here: the 5Rs, some other stuff about uninstalling the device then reinstalling... everything! I haven't made any changes to the PC which could have prevented the iPod working - except installing the Windows 7 beta of course, but from what I've read online other people have had no issues with it and their iPods. Also, the PC worked with my iPod fine when it ran Vista.
Can anyone help me? I feel like I've tried everything.

IMHO u should write microsoft so they can improve that feature...

Windows 8 installation problem, please help..

I tried to install windows 8 (legal) on my 5/2012 Macbook Air using Bootcamp. Everything was ok since I entered the disc-choosing part. On "bootcamp partition" the installation program says "unable to install windows to this partition because of missing drivers, try to enter Bios". When I restart the computer, only the Windows logo is able to be seen and thats all, now it´s impossible to even enter the Windows installation programme. But, when I disconnect my flash disc containing W8, Mac is still booting W8 installation saying "No bootable media found". Is there any possibilty to enter my MacOS, system choice, or at least to download new MacOS and format the disc?

@filisipi: I am not sure if I understood your problem correct. Holding down the "Alt"-Key after turning on the power of your MBA should give you the joice between all operating systems recognized at this point in time. This should provide the way to boot again with Mac OS.

Windows 8 driver problems, please help

i was trying to clone my windows partition the other day with winclone 2.2 to expand it, but that didn't end well, i had a perfectly working windows 7.
so, when i lost my bootcamp partition, i decided to give windows 8 (customer preview) a try.
Unfortunately, the bootcamp drivers only work in windows 7 (even if u run them in windows 7 compatibility).
i tried to install the drivers one by one manually, some have worked, and others have not.
Working:
Wireless reciever
keyboard
trackpad (was, because i deleted the drivers and reinstalled them, so i lost this driver that was built in)
graphics card
Not Working:

media keys (brightness, keyboard illumination, pause play rewind FF, volume keys and eject)
ambient light sensor
multi touch gestures for trackpad.
can anyone give me a way to get the drivers to work?

nooo I did not say or suggest they they will work, or easy or with OEM DVD.
But if you are going to use 8 go ahead but plan to redo (unlikely to be an upgrade install).
You still have to look around and see what others have managed to do with some not working drivers.

8meg to 20meg upgrade problem - Please help!

Hey guys and girls, after about 5 days on the phone to BT and having been given incorrect information (you cant get 20meg bla bla) I finally told them just to process it, and here I am.
The Downstream has worked a treat, but the upstream is stuck on 440kb/sec, and it should be almost double that.
The 2 questions I have are:
1.) Is it possible to change the upload speed to what it should be?
2.) Is it possible to reset, or increase the IP profile - im sure with the stats I have, my connections should be capable of connecting at 16,000 / 18,000kb/sec ?
Only reason I say that is because a relative of mine had attenuation of 27db, and noise of 8.1, and he connects alot faster.
Im guessing my rather large upstream noise level is due to the fact its only synced at 440?

*Quick edit* IP profile is set to 12000 at the moment, which is a pain because my sync speed is only slightly under 13000! No idea why the test is saying it cant do the upload test - worked fine earlier and got 368kb/sec*

Also, one last question.
I noticed this morning that when I woke up (after the router had done its reset) it was all fine, and it had synced etc etc, but data tramsmitted / received was all 0 - and I could not access the internet (all router settings were saying it was connected and working fine) So I had to reset it - been fine since (until I moved it and hit reset again - oops)
When I accidentally hit the reset button earlier it done the same thing, so what I done this time was go into the router settings, and disable, and then enable the internet - and it worked again.
Don't get me wrong, im not turning it on and off on and off - I am aware that its not good for your connection.
As long as its normal - I can live with it for 10 days!

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

To prevent this being accidentally activated in the future go to SystemPreferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Universal Access and uncheck all the boxes.

Hi,
I have the following set up:
* Lenovo T-61p
* Windows XP Pro, SP 3
* HP Photosmart 8250 printer (with nothing plugged into the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer)
I am getting the following error:
Windows - No Disk
Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x75CE023C

I have done a lof experimenting and thru process of elimination, and believe I have determined that this only happens when the HP Photosmart 8250 printer is plugged in to the USB slot of the computer.
I can stop it from happening by safely removing hardware, and removing the drive that the 8250 creates on your computer when you plug it in. In my case, this is drive E. I'm guessing if there was something in the the various card readers, and USB slot in the printer, that's what those would be, but I don't those use those functions of the printer.
I understand there is more at work than simply the printer, because I did not used to get this error, so some software changed as well, that is scanning all ports, and finding a drive that has no disk, and producing the error.
A simple google search finds a lot people all over the world having this problem, and are solving it in different ways, because the suspected source is different: Norton, HP, etc.
I have tried everything I have read, and the only thing that works was my own idea, of manually safely removing the drive the printer creates each time I plug in the printer.
Anyone every any better, more permanent solutions? Or know what the real root of the problem is? What is scanning all the drives and being showing an error message because it found an empty drive?

I've been getting the same error on my 4G nano for the past week. I've had my nano for about a month and the first few weeks were fine. Tried it on 2 different computers (Vista and XP) and same problem. Tried it on a 3rd (XP) and it started ok. Problem started coming back after a day.
I was able to find a quick fix though. I noticed that sometimes the message says something like "iexplore.exe... no disk..." even if I don't even use IE. What I do is end iexplore.exe on task manager before running iTunes and syncing my nano. I don't get the error whenever I do this, but one drawback is that the contents of my nano suddenly pops up in a window - even when disk use is not enabled.
I've reset/restored my nano dozens and dozens of times to make sure it's clean. Leads me to believe it's a driver issue. Either that or I have a friggin malware problem I can't seem to find.
I'll be posting updates every now and then. I'm no expert so I'm hoping an Apple expert also steps in to give some input.

With iOS 6, the all day events showed up in the notification centre but it lacks in the upgrade iOS 7.

Same problem here. Some people pointed out that all-day events do show up in their notification center, but that seems only to be the case for birthdays (and only as text like the weather). I've tried it myself on my iPhone and iPad and it did work for birthdays but not for any other all-day events. I already sent this to Apple as a product feedback as well, as should everyone of you. The more people mention it, the faster Apple's going to fix this issue. In its current state, notification center is not a very helpful feature in my opinion. There's absolutely no point in not showing all-day events in the 'today' calendar overview.

You should make a mapping for the service sapmsPRD in your /etc/services file (On Windows: C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETCservices). If your instance number is 00 you will have to add the following entry:
sapmsPRD 3600/tcp

sorry, i don't have the answer, but i think i have the same problem if i may expound:
I did a windows 7 update.... and today i tried to modify some song info in iTuens... I selectd an album with 12 songs in it, right clicked for "Get Info" tied to update album info including year, album artist, etc... but it would not take. I checked the security setting in the windows folder and confirmed i had admin rights etc...still no go...

So i have a X-Fi Fatalty Platnum Champion Ed. and a computer with Windows 7.
I've searched the web and i found many people saying that the card it's working and perfectly compatible so i would like to exclude this option as far as the problems that i'm having.
So, right out of the box i've placed the front panel in with the ribbon cable and the power connected to it, then i connected the other end of the ribbon cable and finally placed the card in one of the PCI slots i have free.
Now, when i start my PC, i don't hear any particolar "beep messages" but nothing will come on the screen, in few words my PC will not boot at all. I can hear the HDD spinning, everything sounds normal except for that "little" problem.
So, i re-did all the connections thinking that maybe i did something wrong, but following the instruction i did exactly as told. So i tried again to power up the computer and i've noticed that the X-Fi logo is lit up (red light) and.. I don't really know if that means something or it's just something aside that doesn't really matter.. But, what is it's The PCI card is broken or there's something else?
I did try to disable the sound card (integrated mobo sound) from the BIOS but that didn't change anything. I did try all the software options but this looks like more of an hardware problem (please correct me if i'm wrong and/or i've missed something).
There's something that popped up in my mind.. the PSU. I noticed that i have a 300W PSU (mm.. low, isn't it's)?and i was wondering if that's enough or i need a more powerful one.. and if that's may be the case for the PCI to not work at all causing all i've already explained above. I mean.. It seems like i've installed a dead peripheral and that's impeding the computer to start up..
I don't know.. I need clarification and help, PLEASE.

Look at the beta thread sticked above but good luck waiting for a new driver. That beta driver has been there since January and although better than the normal driver it is still crap.
All the boot type issues are with the SSD but if you getting in game crashes etc... under windows 8 that is simply that the driver stinks.
