Windows 7 will not detect the wireless adapter on my Dell D610 laptop

Windows 7 will not detect the wireless adapter on my Dell D610 laptop
Any workaround?

hey guys.... i believe i have some light for you all. I gave my daughter a D610 which came pre-installed with Linux (ubuntu). She did not like it so i loaded windows 7 and guess what? no wifi.
Unknown Device listed on device manager. to make the story short, after almost returning the laptop and spending 2 days looking for drivers everywhere I decided to reload Ubuntu because the wifi always worked. Then going a little deeper inside linux hardware
specs I listed all the hardware using the command lshw from linux shell and what shows up as wifi interface? Atheros AR5001x.
Problem was almost solved. The adventure now was find the driver for Atheros AR5001x that worked for windows 7. And now just to finish this story even faster, the diver is xp32-5.1.1.9.
Unfortunately after downloading the driver I did not save the website. I have the file with me if you need.
Just send me a message and i will be more than happy to email it to you.
Happy New Year for all!!!!

    After running the recovery (Vista 32) from the recovery partition my computer no longer sees the Wifi card installed.
    There is nothing in device manager, the hp wireless wizard doesn't detect anything. I went to HP's site and download the 3 different wifi drivers that it would be and installed them. I can not rememeber what the adapter was.,. thats a problem.
    This system was a refurbed unit when I bought it, if the salesman was correct it was recalled because of a faulty Wireless card. I wonder if they replaced the card with one that the restore partition installation could not detect.
    Any ideas?

    first make sure the wifi is turned on either by a switch located on the front of keyboard or a soft touch icon near the display.. if you have the soft touch make sure it's blue in color if its orange its turned off

  • Dv6110ca will not recognize the wireless adapter

    hello,
    Pavilion dv 6110 ca with windows XP (worked fine)
    i upgraded to windows vista, and installed the latest drivers. but now my wireless card is not being recognized.
    please help

    Hi:
    Do you see the wireless adapter listed under network adapters in the control panel?
    Is it listed in the general device manager as a Network Controller with a little yellow ! mark?
    If you don't see it at all anywhere, then you probably need to install the HP Wireless Assistant and use that program to turn the wireless card on.

  • Help Why I can not find the wireless adapter?

    My thinkpad is  t400 6475-r2g.
    I god the brand new thinkpad.
    It suppose to include the wireless adapter.
    What can be the reason?

    According to this page, your configuration comes with an Intel wireless card already installed. You shouldn't have to buy a new one to have wireless functionality.

  • Using Lightroom 4.2 - Windows 8 - Canon 5D Mark II - trying to tether but will not detect the camera

    Trying to get my Canon 5D Mark II to tether. It is on the "good" list.  But all I can get is "Camera Not Detected".  Computer sees it ok.  But LR seems to be oblivious.

    Further infomation.  Computer see the camera when it is connected and switched on.  Shows up as "portable Device".  Canera also see the computer as instead of shutter speed in the viewfinder it flashes busy.  So connection seems quite fine. If curious camera Firmwear is 2.1.2.   Puzzled!

  • ITunes for Windows will not play the next song in the list

    Hello,
    I cannot get iTunes to play the next song in my list (general list, not a playlist). The random icon and/or repeat icon is not blue. Every time I press the next button (two arrows to the right), it picks another song from my list, instead of the one that is directly beneath the one that is playing.
    I have iTunes version 11.0.1.12.
    Has anyone have this happen before and how did you solve it? Thank you for all your replies.

  • My finder home window will not stay the way I set it

    How do I keep my Finder window opening the way I leave it? Everytime I reboot or use folders in finder window my home view changes from icon to list or size changes. I reset it and it stays for awhile then changes to other view.

    You will have to change the Home Page to the page your want to display. In order to do so, follow the steps below:
    * Go to Options (i.e. \Firefox\Options\Options);
    * Go to the General tab;
    * Under Start-up - enter the URL in the Home Page URL box.
    Also, make sure that you have chosen "Show my Home Page" under "When Firefox Starts" (use the drop down arrow).
    Hope this helps!

  • Windows 7 airport utility will not detect time capsule

    Hi, I have a current generation time capsule and I am having problems connecting to my Windows 7 home premium PC. The time capsule connects and works perfectly using my Macbook. My set up is this: DSL router conected to the time capsule via ethernet cable. I can get the time capsule to pick up wireless and connect to my PC, but upon opening the airport utility it will not detect the time capsule at all. I have trolled the internet for about 3 hours trynig various things, none of which have worked. Has anyone had this issue and resolved it?

    The airport utility has nothing whatever to do with disk access.
    It helps having bonjour available in the computer. And the utility should be able to bring up TC setup.. although as noted.. apple have already bypassed windows as it is too old. The new TC requires v6 utility.. the version for windows is 5.
    None of that is relevant to opening the TC hard disk.
    -If this is not the case, can you please advise on how to access the storage on a windows 7 PC
    Did you follow the instructions from my previous post.
    Open your windows explorer and type into the address bar,
    \\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
    Where you replace TCname with the actual name of the TC.. your nice new short SMB compatible name.
    Or use the IP address of the LAN on the TC.. by default 10.0.1.1
    If you did this and it failed, you need to ping the TC by name and by IP address from command window..
    Does the TC respond to pings??
    If so it should be able to open the TC disk.. but you will probably have to use the IP address not the name which is likely illegal.
    I also mentioned the issue of SMB names..
    Please tell me what is the name of your TC as you set it up in the Mac..
    Does it look like this.
    Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule.
    If so it is too long.. it has spaces and it has an illegal character.. from windows the name should be short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    Please reset the TC to factory and start again.. you can use the airport utility in the Mac.
    Do not use apple suggested names.. which are WRONG.
    Use names like TCgen5
    And for wireless TCwifi
    Then try again with the windows.
    If you continue to have issues, try using ethernet to the computer from the TC instead of wireless.
    Make sure ipv6 is on and set to link-local or the PC equivalent of that.. I will need to look that up.

  • AirPort Extreme will not transmit a wireless signal

    I have just recieved my new AirPort Extreme and wanted to set it up before my MacBook Pro arrived. I configured it with Win XP.
    I can use it with the ethernet cable plugged in, but all my other devices (computers, PDA and PSP) will not detect the network when scanned.
    Current settings are:
    ===Wireless Tab===
    * Wireless Mode: Create Wireless Network
    * The network has been named and the extension option is selected
    * Radio Mode: 802.11n (b/g compatible)
    * Channel is Auto
    * Security is WPA/WPA 2 Personal, and is password protected
    * Under "Wireless Options" pop-up
    *Australia
    *2MB/s
    *100% transmit power
    *Group key timeout is 60mins
    The AirPort uses the internet over the local ethernet network, it detects the addresses via DHCP and sharing a public address.
    Do I have a faulty AirPort? Should I wait to get my MacBook Pro?
    Somebody please help me?
    ASUS   Windows XP   iPod with Video (60GB)

    Like some others, I had a heck of a hard time getting these new units set up. It is very unusual in my experience for Apple software to get worse witha new version, but the older Airport Administration Utility and Airport Setup Utility were easier to use than the new Airport Utility.
    Anyway, as relates to your case, it sounds to me like your problem might be that you have "Sharing a public address" selected instead of "Bridged" mode. If you are connecting to a local area network, as I am, where the DHCP service is being handled by another device (and NOT the Airport Extreme), the you want the Airport to act as a bridge so that it just passes connections back and forth between wireless devices. Once I got that straight in my head, I was well on my way to getting my net network to work correctly.
