Windows 7 with OSX in iMac

Hi, i'm thinking in buying an iMac 27", but i have a problem, a PC, and i have to use it for compatibility issues.
My question is the following:
Is there any way to connect my PC graphics adapter to the iMac and alternate the between my pc with my iMac?
Thanks in advance...
P.S.: Sorry for my English

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You likely won't need to. There are several ways of running Windows 7 on a Mac, from Boot Camp, to VirtualBox, to Parallels, to VMWare. Your new iMac has a very powerful graphics chip as it is.
Ask on the Boot Camp Windows Compatibility forum to find out what success people have running the games you need on Mac virtualization software.
As well as check my Mac game pages to find out if a similar game exists that is Mac OS X native*:
http://www.macmaps.com/macgamepages.html
Your iMac also has a DisplayPort input port, if you get the model that has one. This means any graphics that is on your PC can be input into that port. This thread discusses means of using that port:

  • Is there any possible way I can dual boot Windows with OSX 10.7.2 on a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006?

    Hello,
I am new to this forums.
I have searched about dual boot win/mac, but couldn't find a clear answer, so I decided to post this now.
I run a MacBook Pro 15' from 2006 (Intel based) and have upgraded it to OSX 10.7.2 Lion.
I have tried to install windows 7 on a small (20GB) partition by using Bootcamp, but then I've received a notice saying that there was no windows support software available. However, I did install Windows 7 Professional by unchecking that box. After the installation I have downloaded the windows support software and tried to install it but then I've received a notice saying that I can't install it on this machine.
Could you please give me any suggestions on how to dual boot win/mac, if it is possible at all using this machine? And how to safely go back to where I was before (with a single mac OSX 10.7.2 partition)?
    Thanks.

This problem has been solved as I just needed to download Boot Camp 4.
    Can I delete this post?

  • Made the switch from Windows with a new iMac now my iPhone won't sync with erasing

    Hello!
I migrated from an older PC to a new iMac and when I try to sync my iPhone (which was synced on the old PC ) it wants to erase all my iPhones (3GS) data in favor of what currently on the iMac's/iTunes.
I deauturized my iTunes account on the old PC before switching, was there something else I may have missed?
I'd like to be able to import all the app and music tht's currently on my iPhone into my new iMac/iTunes.
Is there a way to acheive this?
            BTW I LOVE MY IMAC!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance for any comments/advise...........
            D.

If you transfer your iTunes library from your PC to your Mac following the instructions included with this link, no iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync with iTunes on your Mac.

  • Windows Games compatability with OSX

I am curious if there is any way to operate these new computer cames coming out tagged Vista and XP compatible on my Macbook? Do i need to dual run windows with OSX or can I just install and go?

can I just install and go?
No. Windows software and games do not run on Mac OS.
    You'll need this: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
If it doesn't work the you'll need to install Windows.

This is an old problem I once ran into, but it's completely unrelated to SP1 which is the purpose of this thread.

  • I'm not able to install windows 7 in my imac 21' which has the latest OSX 10.9  It keeps saying that I need a 64bit version of win7 which i actually have but it doesn't seems to be recognize as one.

I'm not able to install windows 7 in my imac 21' which has the latest OSX 10.9
It keeps saying that I need a 64bit version of win7 which I actually have but it doesn't seems to be recognize.
    Can someone help me out?
    Thank you

To my knowledge there are no official MS Windows DVDs that contain both the 32 and 64 bit versions. There is a way to make a USB thumb drive that has both bit version on it but AFAIK this can't be done on a DVD disc even with a Dual Layer DVD disc.
For the Windows installer to function, actually boot the system to the install routine, certain files have to be on a certain area of the DVD disc. If by chance you really do have a DVD disc that contains both bit versions your Mac is only seeing the 32bit version on that disc.
You'll need to get a Real MS DVD of just the 64bit version or download the 64bit version ISO from My Digital Life and burn it to a DVD disc.

In fact i'm using a DVD with both 32 and 64-bit win7. But it's the only one I have. I don't want to install the newest Win 8.
So you're saying there is no solution for this?
Thank you so much for your response.

You could've backed up your iPad prior to the "forced" upgrade which, by the way, you could have cancelled. iTunes doesn't upgrade your iPad, automatically, on its own. You had to click the Upgrade button to initiate the upgrade. You didn't have to do anything with that button. You can just leave it be.
iOS 8 is garbage on iPad 2 and 3 and even though iTunes keeps giving me the Update button option, I continually choose to ignore it.
Ignoring the Upgrade/Update button doesn't affect the normal iTunes/iDevice syncing/backing up operations.
You could've just left that button alone.
When was the last time you backed up your iPad?
While there is no way way to revert to a previous iOS version once you upgrade your iDevices iOS, iTunes saves multiple backups of your iDevice and if you backed up your iPad previously to this latest activity, you should be able to restore your iPad from an older  backup that should appear by date when  you plug your iDevice into your Mac, was for iTunes to launch and sync your iPad, then cancel the backup in progress and use the Restore function in iTunes to restore your iDevice from another previous backup version date.
If your current version of iTunes doesn't recognize your iPad2 under iOS 8, you need to check the iTunes update feature, in iTunes or in OS X Software Update feature in OS X Preferences panel to see if there is a iTunes update available for OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

  • How can I get better performance with OSX on my iMac G3?

I just recently got a G3 iMac running at 400mhz with 512 mb of RAM, and it has OS 10.4.10. I am relatively new to Macs; its been a few years since I've used one.
So, it actually runs surprisingly well, but I'm wondering if theres a way to sort of tone the visuals to make it run a little faster. I loaded windows XP pro onto an older dell that I just had sitting around, and was able to tone down the visuals enough to make it run very well on a 500 mhz machine with 256 mb of RAM, so I'm sure if I can tone down XP enough for an old computer, I can do the same with OSX.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You are somewhat limited by the 400MHz processor speed. Increasing your RAM will be helpful. Look at these links

  • Have a 1st generation Apple TV, which is not showing as a device in iTunes. Had no problems with Apple TV until I changed from a Windows PC to an iMac. I have changed my IP address, sub mask address and router address in the Apple TV, Can anyone help?

I have a 1st generation apple TV, which was working perfectly until I changed from a Windows PC to a Imac. The Apple TV will not show in Itunes. I have changed the IP address, sub mask  and Router IP address. Since changing I have switched everything of and on again. Can anyone help?

I have a new router and computer. I have just remembered that just before my old PC died on me, I transferred my iTunes library to a hard drive. I can't remember exactly just how I got my library back, but there are definately things in my library now that were in my library on my old PC! Hope this makes sense. What do you mean by same location? Do you mean in the same place in the house?
Another difference I have just thought of was my old router was connected directly to the computer bu I have not been able to do this with Sky as my PC is not near a phone socket! Will this make a difference?

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.
