WIndows 7 Won't Install On Lion?

Hey there, I seem to be having trouble reinstalling Windows 7 after I moved to Lion and need help figuring it out. NOTE: Prior to Lion, I never had trouble installing Windows.
Running late 2010 MacBook Pro. 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB RAM.
I clean installed Lion (by zeroing out all partitions, installing snow leopard, then moving to Lion). Now trying to install the 64-Bit version of Windows 7, it keeps freezing at the same location. It goes through the restart, and gets to the final step "completing installation" when it flashes a black screen then returns to a frozen screen. A little googling turned up that it doesn't like USB devices, so I unplugged everything, no dice. Someone suggested disabling the USB card entirely, but I don't know how to do that.
If I get desperate, I might try the 32-Bit version, but I really want to avoid that because I use applications for work that are best 64-Bit.
Any ideas?

Move Lion to an external drive.
Format the internal to one HFS volume
Restore Lion
Run Boot Camp Assistant
Install Windows 7
When you get to a place where Windows work, where Lion is happy, make system images of both so you can later use tools to restore each or either.
I don't think at this point it should be hard to understand how to clone a Mac OS X volume.
Wait for Boot Camp 4.1 and Lion 7.2 maybe.

Windows updates won't install

Hello,
I have a remote user whose Windows updates won't install. He has a Dell laptop with Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. You can bring up the update windows and start the install but, at exactly 10 seconds, it just says "Updates failed" and doesn't really give
any more information.
I saw the Windows update service was stopped, I started it and that didn't seem to help. I also tried the update troubleshooter and that didn't do anything. I checked for malware and didn't find any, and he has plenty of disk space. I didn't see
anything in Even Viewer or Reliability Monitor either.
What could it be?

Firstly, please check if those Windows Update have already installed:
1. Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type
Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.
2.In the left pane, click View update history.
3. Click Installed Updates at the top of the page, there check if any Windows Update installed recently.
If there is no any Windows Update installed, try to
reset the Windows Update component to check if it could resolve the issue.

This particular error means that your computer was not able to connect to the Internet when it tried to install updates. First, check your Internet connection and then try again. If that doesn’t work, try the methods below.
Method A: Make sure that Windows Firewall is turned on, and temporarily disable third-party firewalls
Warning This workaround may make a computer or a network more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or by malicious software such as viruses. We do not recommend this workaround but are providing this information so that you can implement this workaround at your own discretion. Use this workaround at your own risk.
To complete this method, follow these steps.
Step 1: Make sure that Windows Firewall is turned on
To open Windows Firewall, click the Start button, and then click Control Panel. In the search box, type firewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Click On (recommended), and then click OK.
Step 2: Temporarily disable third-party firewalls
Click the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, click Review your computer's status.
Click the arrow button next to Security to expand the section.
Under Firewall, read the firewall status note. This information will indicate which, if any, firewall is installed and whether the firewall is turned on. For example, for ZoneAlarm, the notice will say ZoneAlarm Firewall is currently ON.
Open the third-party firewall application that is listed in the firewall status note, and temporarily disable the firewall. If necessary, refer to the firewall application documentation, or contact the application vendor for more information about how to temporarily disable the application.
Step 3: Try to install the updates again

Mark, I've just been through this update issue with two installations. In my case, it seemed intertwined with authentification and indexing not working, either. Upon a transfer of my system disk to new hardware I got hit with the issue and couldn't fix it. Which is why I did a clean install of Win7 ultimate 64bit on my T61p. The install (including update) worked great until I ran the intel matrix storage manager update. This broke windows update. If you surf the web, and include "intel rapid storage manager" or "intel matrix storage manager" and "Windows update fails", you'll see that a lot of folks feel that the intel driver (or how windows handles it) is what breaks update. I tracked this down to a driver, iastor.sys, in windows\system32\drivers. I was able to fix my Window Update by copying an iastor.sys from another recently built machine (should be exactly the same, but this was my wife's T510, but still Win 7 Pro 64) to overwrite the iastor.sys that the intel update changed. To be clear: I couldn't get windows update or indexing to work. I overwrote* the "bad" iastor.sys with one that worked on another computer. Rebooted. Update worked. I just wanted to point out that instead of blindly installing updates to fix problems, folks should be aware that sometimes the update is the problem. Especially as these systems are off warranty and the drivers are not being updated. I've asked elsewhere, so let me ask here: Where is the System Interface Driver for t61p? Not listed anywhere on site, links on the web referring to it are all broken. Is the System Interface Driver now part of another driver program? Thanks! Windows Vista won't install Ipod

Latest version of Itunes 7.4.2 has been installed, unfortunately Windows Vista has located Ipod mini in "other devices" in "Device Manager", but it won't install the Ipod. I've reinstalled Iteune three times and searched the Windows Vista disk, but with no luck.
I'm on the verge of selling the ipod - any advice would be welcome.

I suggest either getting a Mac or going back to Windows XP because Vista is known to have these problems.

Windows 7 won't install any Audigy 2 ZS drivers

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and noticed right away, that the drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS didn't get installed. Here is the error I was given via device manager / properties for card:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
This operation requires an interacti've window station.

When I tried the Creative executables and danielk's support pack, I do not get any errors during any parts of the install(s).
Windows Updates says the install failed with unknown reason. When I attempt to "update driver" through device manager, it says it finds the driver but it gives me the same error as mentioned?above: This operation requires an interactive window station.
What else can I try? I've also done an "upgrade" install of Windows 7 on top of the clean install (out of desperation). At this point, I feel like reloading my XP imaged install,?so I can have working audio again.
So, please, if there is something I can try, then please help. Is there a way to do a "logged" install and send it to someone at Creative?

So, just to update everyone on my situation. I think my issue was caused by the migration tool, Windows Easy Transfer.
I formatted the partition the partition that Windows 7 was installed on, and did a fresh reinstall. Upon first boot of the new reinstall, the audio drivers were still not installed. I then immediately tried to "update drivers" via device manager and Windows installed the latest beta drivers from October , 2009 with no errors.
Is there any reason why the install won't install the drivers on its own? Did it not ship with Audigy 2 ZS drivers?

Windows 8 Won't Install over 29 Updates

I have an ASUS laptop and about 3 months ago it got some updates that it won't install. It downloads and says it installs them, and when I go to restart the computer it gets halfway done and says "failure to configure updates, reverting changes."
I have literally tried everything. My computer has found corrupted files and it cannot fix them. Maybe I should start there? Not sure what to do though! HELP!

The Windowsupdate.log shows error 0x80070490, 0x800705b9, which means some of the windows components are corrupted.

As DISM tool we have already tried, please take a look for the other methods mentioned in the KB aritcle I posted earlier.:

Windows Vista won't install

Hey i just got a copy of windows vista but it won't install. i tried to install it using bootcamp but it asks me to start installing on a existing windows. i don't have any windows installed on my mac book. Do i have to install windows xp before installing windows vista?

While some might consider me "lucky," I don't believe i luck. I have had no problems with any of my three Macs which now all run Leopard. My two MBPs were updated, not even an archive and install and they both run fine, as does my old G5.
I installed XP-Pro on my 32-bit MBP when I first got it using BootCamp1.0, beta.
I installed Vista Ult 64-bit on his MBP also under a beta version of BC, 1.2, I believe.
All the Leopards are up to date, as are my Winders OSs. I finished updating this MBP to SP1 this morning. I have never had any problem, issue or anything I would consider serious. I did have the problem some have noted with Leopard, that the WiFI modem would turn off when not used, but that was not a Leopard issue, it was a firmware issue with my Westell modem, which works fine now that I upgraded its firmware.
As of now, I have nothing but praise for both Apple and, yes, Microsoft.
I learned long ago, that when you get down the the processor, it's all the same 1's and 0's
I do research things quite well before actually committing myself, but that should be normal for everyone. Even a daredevil driver or stuntman carefully plans what he does, although it looks as if it's spontaneous.
I use computers for business and pleasure and I need them as tools. I do not fool around with strange software or unplanned updates. So far, that has paid off.

HP LaserJet M1005 MFP and Windows 7 - Won't Install

I have just acquired an HP Notebook which connects well to an old HP LaserJet 6L as a local printer, but it won't connect to the HP LaserJet M1005 MFP. It does not find drivers when it searches on the net, and the drivers won't install from the CD which came with the printer either - it just hangs after a while.
I read some posts from other people who also have related problems. Can anybody help please?

You are correct though, the installer on the CD does not support Windows 7 and there are no driver in Windows 7 or in Windows Update for this product. Hope this helps.

Macbook pro 3,1 won't install Mountain Lion

Going to Get Info for Chess the "Open in 32 bit mode" is not checked which from what I've seen on the internet means the computer is running in 64 bit.

Will this computer run MT? If so, how do I get it installed?

Made an Install DVD and booted with it. Got through the language choice and then chose reinstall OS X. The screen that came up had the same message as in the first post.
According to everything I can find, this Macbook Pro IS compatible with Mountain Lion but it won't install.

ILife '09 disk won't install on Lion - ejects!!!

I had to erase and reinstall Lion on my Macbook Pro. Now when I put my purchased iLife '09 software disk into drive it just ejects itself without installing. Any ideas why won't install as was working before Lion and I need iWeb??

Restart the computer first, see if that does anything.
Then try resetting the PRAM.

If that doesn't do it, you have to figure out if it is the DVD or computer. Do different disks work? Does the disk work in a different computer?
Did you look at the bottom of the disk for finger prints and scratches. Be nice when you clean it. Don't scratch it more...

When windows installer runs download of v. 10.5 it fails to install due to program error. Is there a way to bypass the windows in staler

No Recovery - Mountain Lion won't install but Lion Recovery worked (until Mountain Lion messed it up).

When I tried to install Mountain Lion it gave me the "this disk does not support some features, like FileVault or Recovery Mode..." message. However, my Lion install at that point had a working Recovery Partition (I confirmed it after I got this first message - booted with it). I also have a cloned backup so I clicked continue. The install failed and gave the "No Recovery" message. Then I tried to boot in Recovery Mode and a screen came up saying "Installing" and the giant X with what looked like a progress bar with diagonal blue lines moving left to right, but no "time remaining" or other info indicating it was doing anything. I let this go on for about 10 or 15 minutes then restarted my computer. In Disk Utility I repaired permissions and disk repair was ok. I'm not using RAID or BootCamp - just one partition (plus the Lion Recovery one. The Mac is a newest model MacMini with an OWC SSD (I first thought the SSD might be the problem but it worked with Lion, so...)

Just Follow this procedure...
1. Go To BOOT CAMP and create a BLANK PARTITION. Say a minimum of 10 GB. You do not have to install anything on this.
2. After you create this, go back to ML installer and now you will see 2 HD's. one will be your main HD and the second one will be the one you just created.
3. Install the ML OS X on the main hard drive. Once installed, reboot the machine go to DISK UTILITY and delete the blank partition you had created.
4. So, now you have your HD at its full capacity.
Try this it should work.

Windows 10 won't install

Windows 10 will not install. Says HP Security Manager must be removed. Can not removed HP Security Manager or Encryption Control so after trying many times, I can install Windows 10. What to do????????????????????

Hi, I recently upgraded the hard drive in my mid-2009 2.53 15" to a Hitachi Travelstar 7k500. When working in OS X the hard drive is awesome but I have been having problems with installing Windows 7 under bootcamp in Snow Leopard or Lion. I have tried (a lot) to install windows using both 32 and 64 bit versions from original discs. When installing it appears as though it has installed and on restart I get a variety of different errors each time I have tried to install. I either get NLS data not found, kernel missing or an error occurred.
Any suggestions as to what could be causing these problems? Is anyone using this hard drive with bootcamp? I have tried reinstalling OS X and tried bootcamp with Snow Leopard and Lion.

Windows XP won't install drivers - "UPDATE" file missing

I have installed Windows XP SP2 successfully ( it was a bumpy road ) and have reached the step where I'm supposed to use a Leopard disc to install the necessary drivers for using Windows with the MacBook hardware (video, speakers, etc). When I insert the Leopard disc a window appears saying that the setup.exe file on the disc is newer than something or other, so I click OKAY ( the Boot Camp instructions say to agree to any windows at this point ). The window goes away, and another one immediately opens saying " the necessary UPDATE file is missing". I click OKAY and the window closes. The End. No driver installation. I can use XP, but there is no sound. Windows Movie Maker won't even launch because it says the audio components are not available. This is probably because the drivers weren't installed. I imagine there will be many other problems.... Anyone have this solution???

Here is a correction to my post. The window says: "This package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Do you want to update the version of the Windows Installer on your system?" ( I click yes and the window goes away). The second window says: "The required resource 'Update' is missing". ( I click yes and the window goes away ).
I think maybe XP is trying to download something from the internet and maybe it can't since I probably need the drivers to do that....?
