Windows 7 x64 802.11n Wirless LAN Card #2 Randomly stops working

Hello, I've had a re-occurring issue with my network card over the past 2 weeks, it randomly started after I received a windows update. Often as I'm playing a game / surfing the web I will experience a moment where I lose all connectivity and my wireless
connection is telling me it is "Limited connectivity". Although this happens if I go to my Device Manager and scan for available hardware changes to my network adapters, my Wireless LAN Card adapter disappears, after scanning a couple more times
it will return and I will regain all of my connectivity and the issue will not happen again until I reboot my computer.
I'm not sure how I can fix this as I have opened my computer to check if the network card was loose, and everything seems like it should be working properly. It is also strange that it began occurring after an update.

Download and install the latest Wireless LAN Card driver from the website of the manufacturer.

Turned out that the manufacturer switched websites which must have messed up something with the auto updating, thanks.

Receiving a pop up saying that there is an update to ralink 802.11n wireless lan card. Is this crucial?Bad past experience with updating things that weren't crucial.  Thanks!

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your desktop computer displays a pop-up message prompting you to update the wireless card installed. I would be happy to assist you in this matter! If you are not experiencing any difficulties connecting to a wireless network on your computer, I would not count the update as crucial. If your computer is having trouble connecting to the network, even if the problem is intermittent, it may be a good idea to install the update. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions or concerns feel free to post back! Cheers

  • Need Recommendation for Windows USB 802.11N Dual Band Card for AEBS

I am building a very large WiFi network to support 100 users. The plan is to use only Dual Band Airport Extreme Base Stations.
Can anyone recommend a compatible USB adapter that will work on Windows (XP, Vista, & Windows 7)?
Looking for something that has 802.11n + 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Any help is appreciated. (Google has been help to tell me what WON'T work... leaving me concerned that my network is going to have issues when it comes to PC users).

The one PC that is running Windows 7 which is the only PC running Windows 7, the rest are XP or Vista has a Atheros AR5007 wireless card keeps dropping connection to the airport. The computer is a HP Pavilion 1448dx. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to fix the signal drop to that computer, all of the other computers are fine.
Yes, please check with either HP or Atheros to see if there is an updated driver for the wireless card.
Another quick question: I was wondering if I could hook up my previous router (Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router) to my Airport Extreme and have the PC's run off the belkin and my mac just run off the Airport Extreme and solve the issue with the one PC dropping connection.
Yes, it may be possible. The Belkin would have to be connected to the new 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) via an Ethernet patch cable and reconfigured as a bridge. In addition, the Belkin's wireless radio channel should be changed to one at least 3-5 channels away from the AEBSn's channel.

Well it was time to upgrade the house with two new DELL Inspiron 530s.

Now the (problem) we are having is we are lucky to get 13.0 Mbps & that's if we stay online. Our World of Warcraft gets booted a lot. Which makes gaming hard when I purchased the WRT330N for gaming.
We have the latest drivers for the Wirelss adapters, Firmware is up to date.
    Setup is as follows.
    Wireless Setting:
    Network: Wirelss-N Mixed
Wireless Name (SSID): My own thing there
Radio Band: Wide - 40 MHz channel
    Wide Channel: 9
    Standard Channel: 2.462 GHz - cH 11
    SSID Broadcast: Disabled
    Advanced Wireless Setting:

    Beacon Period: 50
    DTIM Interval: 3
    Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
    RTS Threshhold: 2347
    Network Density: Low

    Any suggestions?

I am having the same issues.  I have the same router but a different laptop.  Mine is a Inspiron 1545 with an Intel 5100 AGN card.  So the solution is to ditch the Linksys router and get a D-Link?  what say you Linksys

  • Upgrading to a 802.11n Airport Express Card in my Macbook Pro

I found this question on the forums answered over 4 years ago and thought to ask it to get a more current response given that both hardware and sellers have changed significantly in the time passed.
I've also found it difficult to replace the wireless card in my Macbook Pro.  I was able to track down the current part number in my device as being 661-3890; but I figure it may be better just to upgrade to an 802.11n compatible card.  I've found a few listings on ebay but they are not straight forward.  I want to make sure that anything I might buy is at least compatible with my computer.
A creditable site, OWC, has a part number 661-5048 they sell that is compatible but is on the upper end of the price spectrum.  I have the A1150 Macbook Pro (1,1) which I believe is also referred to as the late 2006/early 2007 model.  In my research I was able to deduce that some people have had success replacing their cards with the Atheros AR5BXB6 card although there appears to be some debate regarding the different Manufacture Part numbers (482261-001 and 482261-002).  There are a few of these listed on auctions (used and new) but the range in price is $100.
I'm new to the Mac screen and would appreciate any help in the right direction as I have yet to find an authority that confidently and clearly states what cards are compatible with my box.  Thanks!

  • Sound randomly stops working in Windows 8

I have a new HP PC and the sound randomly stops working.  When the sound stops, it stops in all applications:  iTunes, Web Browser, etc.
    PC DETAILS:
    HP Omni 27 all-in-one desktop
    Windows 8 Pro
In Device Manager, under Sound, this is what I have:
    - AVerMedia H334 MiniCard Hybrid ATSC/QAM
    - Bluetooth Audio Device
    - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
I just set up this new pc this week and I have run all the windows  and drivers updates so everything is up to date.
When I boot up the pc, the sound works fine for a while and then randomly stops working.  For example, if I play music in iTunes 11, the latest version, it may play for 1 minute or it may play for 10 minutes and then it just randomly stops playing sound and the sound will not come back until I reboot and the same thing happens all over again.
I have searched this online and I found quite a few people posting similar sound issues with Windows 8, but I have not found a fix for this problem yet.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do not understand that; if it's not installed, it cannot possibly be enabled.

  • So confused my card reader has stopped working again

My card reader has stopped working again. It's done this before and I just uninstalled it and then downloaded and installed the Ricoh Driver from Toshiba's website and that fixed it right up.
This time though it's not working. Here's the confusing part. When I download the Ricoh Driver and Open it it shows it's extracting the Ricoh Card Reader Driver which is good. Then the next screen says Welcome to the Logix Pro 500 Simulator Setup Wizard.
Now Logix Pro is my dh's PLC/electrical program. Why are these getting crossed over? What can I do to fix my reader?
I have the A305-S6905 with Vista.
    Thanks!

Never mind! I figured it out. I was trying to download it with Firefox. I tried again using Internet Explorer and it works perfectly now!
    Thank goodness!

You may select how and whether Firefox updates, although like most software it may be sensible to keep it up-to-date, it is more likely to remain secure and compatible with other software whilst up to date.

  • Imac Windows 7 802.11n problem

I have an imac 27 late 2011. I have windows 7 running on it. Also i have ASUS router that supports 802.11n up to 150Mps. When i'm trying to set up my router to "n" mode, my imac refuses to connect, saying "couldn't connect to network". In a meantime other devices work flawlessly with the network. So i have to put my router back to "b/g" mode to allow my Imac to use internet, which is very sad bc i have 100Mps internet connection.

    Hi,
the usual way of choosing which operating system to boot is to hold down the 'alt/option'-key during boot to get to the Startup Manager.
To boot from your OSX installation DVD you can also use that key or alternatively the 'C'-key.
Once booted from the DVD choose your language and then from 'Utilities' in the Top Menu run Disk Utility to see what is really on your harddisk.
There is the possibility that during the Windows 7 installation you somehow deleted your OSX form the harddisk.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • 802.11N USB/Express Cards

Hi. I have 2 minis, an iMac G5 and a MacBook Pro Core Duo...none of which have 802.11N capabilities. I would like to find external wireless cards that are USB and express card based that will work with OS X. Does anyone have a recommendation?

    Yes, check out QuickerTek.

  • LAN internet connection just stopped working

    Hi all,
I've just signed up to use my university LAN for accessing the internet yesterday. I registered my MAC address, and all was working fine: I could check my e-mail, use Safari etc. Then suddenly yesterday afternoon my connection stopped working, and my iBook began behaving weirdly: when it's connected to the LAN, it will assign itself an IP address and show a green light for "Built-in Ethernet" under Network Preferences, but it won't load any webpages, get my e-mail in Mail, or access any databases in Endnote.
Moreover, when I restart my computer with the network cable plugged in, when I log-in the dock appears successfully, as do the volume, time and battery indicator, but the grey menu-bar that normally lies underneath the time/battery indicator etc. at the top of the screen won't appear, and the cursor turns to a permanent spinning wheel. As soon as I remove the network cable, the grey bar reappears and log-in continues as normal.
Finally, Help Viewer crashes if I try and load it when I've got the netork cable plugged in, but works fine if I've got it removed.
    Any idea what's happening?
    Cheers,
    Laurence
FYI: I also have Virex 7.2 on my comuter, but have set it up so that it doesn't load at start-up, if that's got any relevance... Tha LAN itself is working fine, I'm writing this on a Windows machine which is also connected to the LAN... The LAN uses DHCP automatic assignment of IP addresses.

    Laurence,
You had posted a question about the LOCATION not being displayed in the iPod Calendar. That post has been archived so I cannot post a reply to it. Since I don't know your email address I'm going to respond to that here. Hopefully the topic-police will be understanding.
The problem is that the iPod calendar software ignores some of the tags in the ics file including LOCATION, ATTENDEE, and PRIORITY. I've written a Perl script which corrects the problem for an ics file generated with iCal, but I haven't tested it with an Outlook generated ics file yet. Also, my solution isn't perfect because every time you resync you have to fix the files again, so until Apple corrects this your best bet may be to regularly put the location information in your description field. I'll be posting my solution at <http://isd.usc.edu/~bbellina> sometime in the next couple of days.

  • Installed windows XP on Sun ULtra 40, networking on solaris stopped working

    Hi,
The scenario is following. I have three separet hard drives. On one I have Solaris, on seconed one RHEL 4 and on third one Windows XP 64. The windows and third had drive have been installed last.
Before everything was working smoothly. I dual booted the OS I wanted (Solaris or Red Hat) and DHCP gave me IP addresses, no problem. After booting once to windows, the networking stopped working on Linux and on Solaris. Windows works OK. Has anyone else experiencd this? The network adapter is nVidia MCP55 and it is detected during the boot.

What an earth Windows is doing to NIC?... or to the DHCP server ...?
To ensure that the problem is not the combination Windows-DHCP Server I would assign a fixed (non-DHCP) address to the NIC under Linux and Solaris (later I would switch back to DHCP).
Another thing I would do is when the problem occurs I would use "snoop" to sniff the data going over the network card (you may use "ethereal" to visualize your "snoop" results but do not use "ethereal" on Solaris to capture packets - it does not work correctly).

  • Sound works for all programs in Windows 7 (64-bit) except iTunes (64-bit) which stopped working after months of working fine.

Sound works fine for all programs on Windows 7 (64-bit) except recently 64-bit iTunes just stopped working.  I believe the sound stopped right after downloading the 10.5.1.42 version of iTunes.

    Sir,
I had the same problem with itunes 10.5 with creative labs sound card.  The only way I could solve it was to use the built in sound on my video card.  But needless to say I have a very high end video card, I have the NVIDIA GTX 580.  And after I used the sound on my video card everything worked great.

I'm experiencing the same issue, but I was able to get itunes to run by turning off genius.  I've heard that others had to turn off itunes Match as well.  If you start up itunes while your computer is not connected to the Internet you shoulld be able to start itunes and then disable these items.
I'm trying to determine a root cause because I'd like to use genius.  Stay tuned...
