Windows 8.1 Always Offline Mode

I have been working with redirected folders and offline files for about a week. We have seen issues with access and drive mappings for users on DirectAccess. I have that sorted out, but during this process I found that Windows 8.1 supports an "Allways
Offline" mode if you set the offline folder to a Latency of 1.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh968298.aspx
I installed this and it worked fine for a couple of days, but today I noticed that my folders are showing in "Online" mode while connected to the corporate network. I used GPResult on the test computer to confirm that the appropriate settings are
being applied. Are there any know issues with this feature?
In Windows 7, they said it is still possible to revert to Online mode if you have a low latency network, but in 8.1 that setting should invoke Offline Mode all the time.

Hi,
Did you mean that after the Always Offline policy enabled in your Windows 8.1 machine, but few days later, the
offline folder shows Online. Isn't it?
Firstly, you can try to check Event Viewer if it identify this problem.
In addition, a workaround method I think you can try to using Gpupdate /force
command to sync the group policy again for test.
Secondly, please check your Offline files setting if there is any changed recently.

  • I have been using Firefox for years. I just downloaded your newest version. The new version shows to be downloaded successfully, but when I click Firefox Icon, I get a window that is called "Offline mode"

It states, "Firefox is curerntly in offline mode and cona't browse the web. It says to uncheck the "work offline" menu item.

    See:
    *File > [ ] Work Offline
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

  • Can I stop Firefox from always opening in Work Offline mode because it's preventing my Macbook from accessing Internet on our wireless home network?

Sorry, I should have said iMac, not Macbook, if it makes a difference. The problem is Firefox 3.6.10 always starts in Work Offline mode, and Internet won't activate unless we restart, sometimes up to five times.
The iMac is on our home wireless network which we had no problems with before using Safari on the Macbook we upgraded from.
Note: I'm posting this query from another computer.

Did you check the network setting?
Sounds that you have set to connect automatically when a connection is not available.

  • In the past two weeks every time I select the Firefox icon I get a message: "Foreforx is in Offline mode". I click on "try again" and it always comes up. How do I avoid this message and go directly to online status?

Prior to a couple weeks ago when I clicked on the Fire Fox icon on my MacBook air it went directly to the Fire fox home page. Now when my computer has been off and I choose the Fire Fox icon, I get a message that Fire Fox is in "offline" mode. I then click the box "try again" it always comes up as usual. What can I do to get away from that "offline" message? I do not have the same problem with my desktop iMac.

  • Firefox become in Offline mode and unable to open any page and when shut down it remains in processes and freez up, blocking another to be run

When I on my Laptop, Acer Aspire 5735 with Windows 7 Ultimate run Firefox all runs perfectly smooth, all is working as expected, but when I go to Sleep mode or Hibernate (Firefox remains open) after turning on Firefox is not active any more, all open tabs are there but surfing is unavailable. Firefox reports message that it is in Offline mode (but menu File > Work Offline is not checked and if I check it and uncheck it again it doesn't have any impact). Which means If I open new tab and write web address it wont open, if I click any link in opened tabs from before, it wont open anything and it will show message that Firefox is in offline mode. After that I shut down Firefox by using Close(x) button and it disappears from desktop but it remains in memory and active processes not allowing any other instance of Firefox to be run. Finally I shut it down on force (End process) and start another instance and all works perfect. I am not sure is this only my problem with hardware/software configuration so I wanted to share this.

This is a pain but I have resolved it. This is instructions for Windows 7 but it may be the same on other Operating systems.

Start Firefox and if all is well you should be working again and it back in the state you left it last without the bug.

  • Firefox sleeps and wakes up in offline mode.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything different that I've done that has led to this problem. Same sites, same habits.
At any rate, I always leave FF running. I'm using Windows Vista, and all I do is close the lid on my laptop, it shuts everything down into Sleep Mode. I come back to it, *boom* everything comes back to life.
Recently however, after closing and reopening the lid, FF tells me that it has gone into Offline Mode. I haven't found anything in the Tools/Options to fix the problem, so I have to close and restart. Granted, this isn't a major problem, but it's an annoyance.
Any ideas of what has happened and how to fix it from going to Offline Mode?
    Thanks much.

You can try to create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.
You can right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean pref.

I can’t access my documents using Desktop App in offline mode.
When I go offline all my documents turn marked “RED” even they were marked “GREEN” in online mode.
When I try to open a script in Offline Mode I get the following error: “You are trying to open document in offline mode that has not been downloaded fully from Adobe Story account. …” Even though all documents have been downloaded …
I thought the whole Idea of the DESKTOP APP is to able to work offline.
    Any idea?
    Thanks for your support, Carsten

  • Widgets in offline mode?

    Hello..
Shouldn't the "widget in offline-mode"-setting overrule the settings for each widget?
If I set my RSS/mail to sync every 2 hours, and set the "widget in offline-mode"-setting on, both RSS and mail sync during the online time - which it shouldn't as I understand?
    How do I change this?

The point being, that setting widgets to offline mode, does just that, but you can set mail to sync without using the mail widget, so the app itself is running independently. I tend to update evrything manually and leave my phone on charge over night !

  • Offline mode problem nokia N73

Hello, I have a problem with my Nokia N73, after having passed in Offline mode, it is impossible to change it. I carried out a hard reset by *#7370#, the phone posts general mode, but when i wants to connect to the network it posts phone in Offilne mode. I have try an firmware update using PC suite, but thephone must be in general mode before this operation can be carried out. what can i proceed. right now it is impossible to use my phone.

    I am now on my 7th N73!
Yes, I am probably mad still giving this phone a go, but I Like the phone, so I keep giving it another go! (plus the fact that I cant find any other phone on the market right now that I really like)
My network operator has been great, and has always replaced it for me every time I have had problems, but I must say it is now getting a bit too much.
The last one I had, I got 2 weeks ago, and was a brand new one with the latest s/w update.
First time I put it into OFFLINE mode, it refused to change back to normal. (this was a new problem I did not have with the first 5 handsets so I have a feeling its a problem with the latest s/w)
a week ago I had it replaced once again with a brand new one.
Went away, and put it into OFFLINE mode again while on the plane, and guess what? it refused to change again.
Nothing helps; I have tried taking the battery out, taking the sim card in and out, nothing!!!!
Now they want to give me an N93, but it seems way to large to me, plus it probably has the same problem, using the same operation system.
How the hell could they release a phone with so many problems?Message Edited by robf on 23-Dec-2006

  • Setting Office 2013 on Windows 8x in Pre-Production Mode

    Hello
We are in the process of evaluating ADRMS for protecting documents. Currently, I have ADRMS running on a Windows Server 2012 x64. I have 2 other machines which talk to this - one with Office 2013 installed on a windows 8.1 set in production mode and another
similar machine having  a custom program based on ADRMS SDK 2.1 APIs.
How can I set the server running ADRMS as well as Office 2013 in pre-production mode? If there are any documents on this, can this be shared or pointed to please
    Thanks
    SN

    Hello,
Does anyone know how to do this or is this done differently?
This is what I want to test to start with - I have a document (docx) and I have protected it using ADRMS SDK2.1 based custom client application. I want to test this protected document by opening using Office 2013 and see if the permissions I set are working.
The custom application is installed on a machine (8.1, set to pre-prod by setting MSIPC & uDRM \Hierarchy to 1)  connecting to a server (Win 2012, set in pre-prod by setting DRMS\Hierarchy to 1) with both ADRMS & ADDS installed in it. For some
reason the client works even with uDRM/Hierarchy set to 0, so not sure what is the relevance of uDRM.
I have the Office 2013 installed on a Windows 8.1 different from the above 2 machines and connected to the above domain. But I am unable to open the document protected by the custom RMS app. In fact, when I try to protect a document created using Word 2013
on this machine it says "The system cannot find the file specified"

  • Can't turn off offline mode

Hello i got this problem with my nokia 5230.I insert my main sim card and it doesn't show no zone it's in offline mode. And i can't change another mode it just shows no sim card inserted....
I put another sim card in it works just fine and asks to run or not to run offlien mode at start.
So do you have any suggestion on my problem? That number is really important for me

If you have a locked phone, and the sim isn't from your airtime provider it won't work, you should be able to get your number ported to the sim that works, or if it is from your current airtime provider, ask for a replacement !
    Good Luck

  • When I install firefox version 4, it is in offline mode and I cannot open it. How do I get around this problem.

when I install firefox version 4, it is in offline mode and I cannot open it.

In version 3.6.17, click '''File''', then click '''Work Offline '''to remove the checkmark.
In version 4.0.x right click a blank part of the Tab Bar and then click "Menu Bar". This will reinstate the text links. Then do the same as above.
To revert to the layout without the text links, repeat the same steps.
Sometimes, in FF4, you can hit the ALT key to toggle the text links on and off, but I've noticed in posts from other users that it doesn't always work.

  • After an upgrade Firefox now throws my Mac into Work Offline mode repeatedly. What action needs to be taken so Firefox permanently disables Work Offline mode?

Immediately after an upgrade Firefox beginning throwing my Mac into Work Offline mode. Apparently, this is done anytime my connection blips out. I have tried a work-around, but to no avail. The computer is thrown into Work Offline when I daily turn on the computer, as well as in-between website windows.

We've seen more post about being in Offline mode on a Mac. I haven't seen any explanation or solution to this problem.

trying to log into firefox but keep getting firefox is in offline mode and can't browse the web, I've unchecked the work offline in the file menu but still get error message...

The work offline option can be found from Firefox button -> Web developer or from the menubar toolbar -> Work offline (Or at least thats what happens in Windows).
Have you any other reason for being offline; router off, firefox not dialing up or whatever. Or is security software or a firewall blocking firefox, or a network connection, or firefox setting etc set wrongly.

  • I try going to any website and it says Firefox is in offline mode, uncheck offline mode but offline mode is not checked.

I click on open new tab. When the window opens I type in the address of any web site and hit enter. Firefox says that it is in offline mode please uncheck working in offline mode in the file menu, however working in offline mode is not checked. I click try again but I get the same results. I check other web sites with the same result. I checked to make sure I am online and I am becasue I am sending this message in Internet Explorer. I am using Windows 7 premium home edition. What gives?

Did you try to toggle the File > Work Offline setting a few times?
    You can try this:
Create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.
Right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean pref.
    Name: network.manage-offline-status
    Value: false
