Windows 8.1 and AMD Catalyst updated driver- HP Envy 17t-3200

I've updated my HP Envy 17t-3200 to Windows 8.1Pro. Ran into a some issues but I was able to find a fix (ie. brightness-dimming button fix). Now I just found out my steam game, NBA 2K14 won't work using switchable graphics  I was using windows 8 with nba2k14 with switchable graphics and set to high performance and the game played smoothly but after I installed windows 8.1 now my NBA2k14 still plays but in low graphics (power saving) and if I set switcable graphics to high performance I only get a black screen with audio gameplay in the background. Need help! I downloaded the latest drivers in the HP support website, Released:2012-10-18 File name: SP58812.exe [1/1, 298.3M] Version8.982.6.0 Compatibility:Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I'm hoping an updated driver comes out soon for Windows 8.1. Is there a fix out there besides waitiing for the updated driver? All my other games work flawlessly though.

i have the same problem before in windows 8 running smoothly but now i upgraded to windows 8.1 pro when i use switchable graphic the screen goes black only sounds please help

It is quite easy to transfer your files to the new Mac.
When you start up your new Mac for the first time, it will guide you through the steps of setting up the operating system, and one of the steps will ask you to restore files from another PC, Mac or external drive.
At this point, you can install Windows Migration Assistant on your old PC, choose the option to transfer files from another PC on the Mac and follow the on-screen steps. It will let you choose what you want to transfer, so make sure you transfer the folder with your photographs (normally, Pictures).
After setting up your computer, you will have a lot to learn because it is a completely new operating system. Apple prepared some articles for new users that you may want to read in order to use your computer > http://www.apple.com/support/macbasics/ Also, if you live near an Apple Retail Store, there are workshops there to help you use your Mac

At present I have windows based programs installed using parallels 7 on my Imac. I now wish to delete all the Windows programs etc and revert the Hard Drive to its original setting i.e single partition. How do I go about it??

It's not clear if you installed Windows in a virtual machine or you installed Windows in Boot Camp but you run it in Parallels.
If you installed Windows in Boot Camp, open "Boot Camp Assistant" (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and follow the steps to restore your hard disk into one volume. If you installed Windows on a virtual machine, just open Parallels and delete the virtual machine where you have installed Windows

  • [SOLVED]Are X11 and AMD catalyst drivers friends again?

last time i installed linux on my laptop X11 had dropped support fro amd catalyst drivers (proprietary video card drivers), did amd do something about it? did X11 team reconsider? can i use the catalyst drivers on X11 again now?  my laptop and it's stupid APU or "dual graphics" aren't playing so nice with the open source radeon drivers.
Last edited by rabcor (2013-06-20 19:16:00)

If wine supported skype, i would be more dead set on using linux than using the amd proprietary drivers.
The reason this isn't a big deal to me is mostly because i only use this laptop for 3 things, regardless of OS. Teamspeak 3, Skype, Playing Videos.
I have it set up on a dual boot because neither windows nor linux seem to be reliable on this laptop, the reason is hardware-side, this APU is driving me nuts.
The reason i'm having problems with the radeon drivers is that even if i set my computer to disable the "switchable graphics" on boot it sometimes seems to randomly re-enable it without even notifying me. The reason this is bad is because the switchable graphics cause my laptopt to overheat. If this happens in windows it usually just enters hibernation mode while the heat levels are just barely critical, in linux however it keeps running for a while at critical levels before it'll finally just overeat. I'm hoping that the AMD proprietary drivers can help me solve this on the linux side.
Whichever operating system i can manage to make stop ever using the switchable graphics (thus preventing all overheating) will be the one i will use in the end, but i'm not in any big rush, windows is working decently for me on the laptop right now, and i can patiently wait for the amd proprietary drivers to support X again, since i  don't interact much with the computer at all anyways. Using linux would mostly just be to make the laptop look better. Linux seems to be the more likely one to succeed with this task in the end however (because i can optimize/customize it a whole lot more than i ever could windows, and because i'm scared of updating the catalyst drivers in windows because my laptop has often just completely broken upon catalyst driver update in windows.)

  • I cannot install windows 7 x64 with AMD/ASUS RAID driver

Trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an ASUS M5A97 mobo with AMD SB850 RAID, two WD 750GB drives configured as RAID 0. No drives are recognized by W7 install, so I choose Load Drivers. I put the drivers on a USB stick. Install finds the drivers there,
starts loading them, then comes back with "Installing an unsigned 64 bit driver is not supported and may result in an unstable Windows installation." I downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS website which are WHQL certified (as are the one's on the motherboard
disk). I saw other posts that recommend clicking Repair instead of Install, but I don't see where that option is. All I am given as options are Upgrade or Install. Choosing Upgrade tells me to boot Windows first. But this is a brand new install so...
I tried pressing F8 as setup was booting and chose "Disable Signed Driver Requirement" but that had no effect at all. If I turn off the RAID W7 sees both disks and happily installs. I see related posts going back to 2009; surely someone has
    a solution for this issue?
    Da Bomb

    Hi guys,
I have been struggling with the same issue.
    Win7 x64. Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 Mobo with Intel core i7-3930K at 3.20 GHz
Marvell 88SE9172 SATA RAID controller with two Hitachi 500 GB spinning disks configured as RAID1
Windows would get to the point of asking for a mass storage drive. It would not see the RAID I had created.
Tried every driver I could find. Tried drivers from the "Station Drivers" website. Tried Marvell drivers for the same chip from the ASUS website. No luck. Tried loading from CD as well as USB flash drive. Always the same result...  Windows would find
the drivers appropriate for the hardware found, I would select the RAID version, and after a few seconds, would report that the drivers were unsigned, and the installation was not supported for 64-bit drivers. Clicking OK would take me back to the load drivers
display with no new drives listed in the available drives window.
I tried hitting F8 during startup, and selected the "allow install of unsigned drivers option". That didn't do ANYTHING. Still the same error.
Someone suggested putting the drivers in the root directory. That didn't work.  I also disabled all other drives except one CD rom and a USB drive and made sure that my RAID array was the first drive in the boot list.
Tried doing a windows repair, as someone else suggested. (This is an option that is available on the install disk I am using. It's enabled as part of EMS (emergency management services) in setup. Anyway, this was reported to be a workaround
to the signed driver issue. It would allow me to browse to the individual files, but no matter which one I selected, the response was "cannot find hardware appropriate to the driver selected" or some such nonesense. So I gave up on that.
Doing the install with the controller in IDE mode with just one drive connected, would result is Windows installing without a hitch. The problem was clearly when I presented 64-bit windows with a controller in RAID mode.
Long story less long, here's what worked for me....
Out of desperation, I began trying other subfolders in the driver lists. The Gigabyte manual indicated that the AMD64 subfolder was the correct one for the Marvell controller, when using RAID mode with 64-bit Windows. After trying every subfolder of
every driver I could find, the driver in the i386 folder actually worked. It initially came back with the same error about unsigned drivers, but after clicking OK, my RAID drive showed up in the list. I have been able to partition and format
the drive from within Windows setup, and am continuing with the install now. Hopefully won't be any problems booting from the drive post install, but so far it looks good, and I'm relieved that I was able to get it this far.
The whole process has been one of the most frustrating computing experiences I've ever had. This is what it was like back in the 90's when building PCs from scratch.  I'm amazed that in this day and age the process is still so poorly documented
and filled with potholes, traps and caveats. Shame on the entire PC industry for allowing this to continue. I'm not asking that they jump in and try to automate it and do all the thinking for me (their solution for everything lately)...all I'm asking for it
    clear, concise and accurate INFORMATION.
With the right information, and software that provides accurate feedback, this would all be easy...and even fun.
Hope this helps someone faced with the same problem.

  • Windows 8.1 and AMD radeon HD 6700m switchable graphics on HP pavilion dv7

    Hello all
First would like to give positive feedback because my former problem was solved here but this thing appears again.
I have HP pavilion dv 7
    i7 -2670QM (2.20ghz)
    (8 GB Ram)
    Windows 8.1
So my problem is with the switchable graphic as it is stated in the subject.
I had windows 7 previously and I had no problems with switchable graphics-
When I bought licenced win 8 the problems started and are continuing in my 8.1 upgrade.
I tried several thing, from turning off switchable mode in BIOS, turn it off in win desktop, uninstalling drivers or blocking drivers and it still doesn't help
It's a shame that with a computer like this I can't play a bit better games that I was able to when I had win7.
The main problem is that when the game instals it checks your computer and tell you if it's ok or not-and everytime I get that I have intel HD3000 graphics. and not AMD radeon hd 6700m graphic card.
Can anybody tells me how to fix this thing? I don't have any problems in display adapter-all drivers are good to go, i have the latest amd catalyst software.
It would be a shame to buy win 8 if 7 was good and better working on this issue.
    Thank you for help

    Hello again GregaSlo,
It is good to hear from you again!
To prevent your system from crashing, and gain access to your fingerprint reader, I recommend performing a backup and recovery of your system's operating system. This can be done by following this document on Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7), as well as Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7). This should help recover your system back to factory defaults.

  • Are you having problems with Windows XP Pro and Airport Utility Updates?

I was having problems with my wireless laptop setting up my Bonjour Printer. I checked to make sure I had downloaded the latest updates to Airport Utility and Bonjour. Check. After doing this I noticed I couldn't see my Airport Extreme through the Airport Utility. After much frustration and bringing my entire network crashing down around me, I got help from a knowledgeable guy from Cox Cable in San Diego. He helped me get my trusty iMac Power PC online. It saw my Airport Extreme but no answers were forthcoming in any forums about my XP issues. Here is what finally solved my problem. I uninstalled all Airport Utility and Bonjour Programs. I then went back to Airport Utility 5.3.1 for Windows. It installs Bonjour Printer services with this download. Everything is working perfectly again. I have my Canon Pixma MP500 connected to the USB port on my AEBS and Bonjour walked right through the setup process. I suggest that if this works for you, turn off all Airport Utility and AEBS firmware updates until you see that whatever issue Apple created with these updates gets fixed.

    Well... it worked! :D
I'm pretty sure the extra 512 memory stick was the problem, that would explain why it was being inconsistent with its type of failures before. I'm going to reinstall it later and run memtest86 and try and see if i can get it to work at all somehow without causing problems, cuz 1.5 was already low enough...
DryHeat, yeah it was with SP2 but I got it installed now so no worries
    Thanks a lot!

  • Windows 8.1 and Lumia Cyan Update

    Hi Forum,
I bought a Nokia Lumia 925 from the UAE a year back.
I have signed up for the developer's preview of Windows Phone 8.1 and am presently using it.
Recently i read about another update to Windows Phone 8.1 along with firmware upgrades to Lumia named 'Cyan'.
For now, my phone came pre-loaded with the Lumia Black update.
I am now in the USA and have not subscribed to AT&T as a carrier.
I want to enjoy using the latest Windows Phone 8.1 and Lumia Cyan update in my phone but i am unable to do so.
How can i get the latest Windows and Cyan update to my phone?
I request your help with this.
    Thanks,
    Ram

You will need to reformat your device to factory, flash the device back to wp8, then get the over the air updated to wp8.1 and cyan should also come through, then reformat the device again and you should be able to pull your backup again. Then you can reinstall the preview for developers and then get the latest update with the folders capability too

  • Windows hijacks iPod and treats like flash drive.

every time I connect my new ipod to my computer (vista) windows explorer opens up and shows an empty drive, so I close that and then iTunes opens and try's to sync, after 40 songs windows hijacks it, disconnects it, re-connects it and opens it again and tell me that there were some problems and it needs to scan it. I let it and it finds nothing. then itunes finds it and try's to sync from were it left off.
it keeps doing this every time, and I cant even get any songs on it now. also the restore to factory settings fails each time I try it.
before you ask, its plugged in with its cable that came in the box and is plugged into a high power UBS 2.0 port.

Sounds like you may have something else fooling with your USB setup. Do you have anything other than your mouse, keyboard and iPod connected? If so, try just having the ipod and your keyboard and mouse connected and see what happens.
It could also be a utility you might have installed, virus protection software. That kind of thing. Might try disabling that sort of thing just as your trying to sync to see if that is what is causing the problem. Once you know what is causing the issue, there is usually some work around from the folks who make the software to have it play nice with an ipod.

  • Control Windows 8.1 and WS2012 R2 "Update 1" and followings through WSUS?

    Hello all,
Is there a way of identifying and stop through WSUS the new Updates (Update 1, Update 2 and followings) released for Windows 8.1 and WS 2012 R2?: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2014/04/02/windows-8-1-update-important-refinements-to-the-windows-experience/
As far as i know, the are identified as: "Update for Windows", so its impossible to know these are a set of updates similar to a "small" service pack if you don't check the KB number associated.
Due to my environment specs, I only make available Critical and Security updates through WSUS, so clients do not install set of updates such as service packs, which will jeopardize the environment.
These kind of updates are not classified within Updates, Update rollups or anything else, so is there a way of stopping them or at least make them more visible on WSUS (if this makes sense)?
    Thanks in advance.

Interesting question.... and I'm seeing a whole litany of problems with the above.
First the answer: You simply don't approve the updates. As for identifying the updates, yeah, it's done by KB number. It will take a nominal amount of effort on your part. It's also identified by a uniquely formatted title:
    Windows 8.1 Update (KB2919355)
BUT.. since the update was originally released into theSecurity Updates classification six months ago, if you're automatically approving Security Updates, then it's already long gone and already installed.
Second.... not installing "Update 1" is not a choice. It's a
mandatory update. If you've not installed this update (hard to see how that could have happened), then you've not actually deployed any to those systems since June if you've blocked this update ... the cutoff date for deploying "Update 1".
"Update 2" is not a mandatory update, and being as the cited blog is dated April, 2014, it doesn't cover that update at all. This update was released in August 2014, and is identified only as KB2975719 and has the title
Update for Windows 8.1 (KB2975719). It was published into Critical Updates a month ago, so again, if you're automatically approving Critical Updates.. it's long gone and already installed.

  • Can't update driver HP Envy 4502-e

Hello, I don't understand how to update my HP Envy 4502-e drivers (all-in-one printer). I am on windows 7. Device manager shows my driver for the printer as version 30.0.1044.40289, driver date 16/12/2012.You're website shows a more recent driver 32.3, driver date jul 30 2014. If I download the driver and try to install, it blinks from step 1 "Prepare", then stays on Step 2 "connect". If I click continue the only options are 'connect a new printer' or 'reconfigure wireless settings' (and also an option to add software if I download the 'full software and drivers'  file, but the software options are just things like HP Photosmart and not a driver install). I've tried downloading both the basic driver installation and the 'full software and drivers' file, but there's no driver update from the installation. Device manager still shows the 2012 verion 30.0.1044.40289. If I try to update through device manager it says it's up-to-date. HP Update also doesn't show any driver updates. Can you explain what is going on, and how to update your drivers? Do I have to uninstall the old driver or something before I can update? Thanks

Hi Marin456, Sometime it's best to completely uninstall the drivers and start fresh.    Check out this forum posting/link on how-to completely uninstall/reinstall your software drivers.  Good Luck!

  • ThinkVantage Active Protection for Windows XP, Vista, and 7 missing from driver matrix

Recently, while checking the Software link: http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/documents/ht037696
    I noticed:

If you try to follow the links to the ThinkVantage Active Protection System, you are presented with a document labeled: ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 8 (32-bit) - Laptop or a document labeled: ThinkVantage Active Protection System for Windows 8.1 (64-bit) – Notebook
No reference to Windows XP, VISTA or Windows 7 in the current version of the documents, yet the text file pointed to by the download links states that this driver still supports all the older ThinkPads and is applicable to Windows 7 and VISTA. The text file does say that Windows XP support has been withdrawn with this release, and that XP users should use the previous version. It does not, however, provide a link to any document or mechanism where an XP user can obtain the previous driver.
So, is the document correct, or is the text file correct?
Where is the current driver for VISTA and Windows 7?
When I went to the support sites to see the supporting documents there, I discovered that the ThinkVantage Active Protection entries were gone from the R61, R500 and T500 driver matrices. The only reference I could find to the ThinkVantage Active Protection System was in the above mentioned SOFTWARE link.

Still no change to the driver matrices.  ThinkVantage Active Protection is still missing. There has been a change in the web site, as follows:

So now there are numerous separate entries, but none of them claim to support any 'legacy' machines. Most of the above entries point to the same driver (at present).  The puzzling aspect to all this is that if you read the text documents that accompany most of the above driver packages, you will note that the text document claims that the driver supports quite a number of legacy machines. That information just never made it to the web page.
So do I manually update a driver because the text document says it is applicable to my legacy R500, or 'believe' the web page which states that only some current models are supported, but not the R500, T500 or R61.
    Very inconsistant and highly unprofessional.

  • Windows 8.1 and AMD Radeon HD 7670M

Since the Windows 8.1 update I have a really stupid problem on my Pavilion g7-2210sm. (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03555012&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en...)
All of the games that were on my PC - Skyrim, DARK, TW: Rome 2, PES 14... - all run at a maximum of 5 fps, obvious sign that only Intel GPU is used. Changing from Power Saving to High Performance in CCC is as useful as hitting the notebook with a hammer .
HP did put a driver for windows 8.1 on support page but what that driver does is that it only helps windows indentify my dedicated gpu and then ignore it completely. I should also say that this driver is not really win 8.1 but rather just a copy of driver made for win 8 almost a year ago!!
To test things i formatted my system hard drive, installed Win 8 Pro, installed all drivers from support page then installed games again and all worked fine, uninstalled games, updated to Win 8.1 Pro, installed the (useless) driver, installed games and back to 5 fps.
My question is will HP ever produce some kind of real Windows 8.1 driver or should i just go sell my notebook and buy from some company that actually has product support that lasts longer than 2 weeks?
    HP Pavilion g7-2210sm

    Dear Friends,
    I have HP Envy 6-1106TX. I'm Official win8. Last week after frequent pop ups from windows store that update to win8.1, I finally clicked OK and updated the my genuine windows 8 to 8.1. Installation is smooth and after that my notebook remains very hot. Before update and after updates are as follows;
    Battery backup-----------> B: 5-8Hrs------> A: 2Hrs
    CPU Temp (Idle) ----------->  B: 50C------> A: 60C
    CPU Temp (Load)-----------> B: 75~80C -----> After: 90-100C
Although CPU performance is little down. while gaming, a little laggy. (I don't game much)
Sometimes got stuck. while on Win 8 never got stuck.
I think that the problem is that both GPUs are active at the same time. That's why Note Book got very very hot and consumes a lot of battery.
Device Manager is not able to detect my ATI Readon 7670M, it's just showing ATI 7600.
I think drivers are not competible and that's why there is all that problem.
I have tried solution that posted by victorx1, but still the problem was same.
Although windows 8.1 features are very impressive but I have to go back to Windows 8 because of that problem.
After degrading to Win 8. everything is normal.
Any one will help me, is there any official drives updated by HP to solve this issue?
or they are just ignoring us and we have to stuck with windows 8.

  • Windows 8.1 and IOMEGA External Hard Drive Issues

Since I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8.1 my computer will not now recognize my IOMEGA external hard drive.  How could just updating Windows not allow my hard drive to be accessed?  Please help?  I do taxes on the side and all my clients's
tax returns are on this external drive and need to be accessed.  I have a laptop with Windows 7 and it recognizes the hard drive with no problem.  Only problem is I do not want to do taxes on my laptop.  Is there a patch somewhere to help?
If not,how much trouble is it to go back to Windows 7 because this issue is a serious one with me?  I know I am not the only one with this issue because if you search on IOMEGA the issue is going on with others.  I just have not seen a real

  • Windows XP style and JRE 5 update 9,10 and JRE 6.0 problem

    Good day.
I have an application that is deployed on more than 700 PCs in different countries. Application is being deployed via Java Web Start and is being used by our clients for more than 3 years already.
Today we are receiving more and more complains coming from our clients because of application GUI misbehavior. What happens is this. When JRE on the client PC is updated to JRE 5 update 9 or update 10 or re-installed to Java 6 AND Windows XP Theme is applied then most of the Elements(JCheckBox, JRadioButton, JTextField become larges and etc.) on JToolBar disappear. If Windows XP Theme is changed to Classic everything gets to normal.
On JRE 5 update 1 up to update 6 User Interface works fine even with Windows XP Theme applied.
Application GUI is build using Borland JBuilder GUI Designer.
Please, please advise where could be the problem.
    Thank you very much!
