Windows 8.1 and skype

Dear friends,
Im new to skype community , so im sorry if im mistakenly put this post in a wrong place,
Im using skype for very long time. And i bought a new laptop last year with windows 8 and i used windows desktop skype since then. Modern skype (the one we can download from windows apps store) didnt work well for me. I dont know it was slow and really slow to respond. So i used windows desktop skype for windows 8.   I had no problem with it
But after that i have updated my windows 8 to windows 8.1 and now both skype types are not working (desktop and modern skype ).
The desktop skype always says you have "internet connection problem" which i dont have. There is no any internet problem with me. Im saying this coz my mobile phone skype is working well in same wifi network (home wifi network). At the same time i can watch Youtube videos in my laptop. So laptop also dont have any internet connection problem .
So i dont really find what is wrong with my skype. here is my skype calling procedure
I m rining my friend
then he answer the video call
then after 30 s or one minute time it says internet connection problem ,
it automatically rining back or something like that happen.
then i disconnect the line and get the call back again.
and same thing happen over and over again
Please help meeeeeeeee

Hi
After the Windows 8.1 upgrade you should update and reinstall the Toshiba driver and tools which were released for Windows 8.1.
Did you do that?
If not, update the software to Windows 8.1 compliant version.
Also Skype reinstallation would be very good idea.
Uninstall the pervious installed version, reboot the notebook, install skype again and check the skype configuration!

  • Windows 10 TP and skype

I'm now using the skype app (tile, metro, modern skype) in windows 10 TP build 9926. So far everything is ok. I would like to know how to change the font style and size if possible?

I was unable to see your images.  I took the time to reinstall my 10 TP since the graphics crashed and even safe mode low resolution (VGA mode) didn't work and on top of that I had no restore points.  After I updated my machine to your build I could see what was occurring.
Skype for web beta works just fine in that build for me.  I was able to call my other machine with video and audio which is surprising because my onboard camera worked without having to do the same manipulations I had to do in Windows 8.1.   I generally never pin items to my taskbar in any OS but these are my observations:
    1.   Items pinned to the taskbar have a .website extension.  Even though it has IE defined as the default program, it is apparent to me that the pinning portion of the taskbar is broken for now in that build of Windows 10.  The error happens with every pinned website that I tried so that means it's a Technical preview bug and not a Skype for Web beta one.  Not surprising since it's not a released OS.
    2.  If you want it to work you should create a shortcut (.url) to http://web.skype.com and no other version of that url (unless it contains login.skype.com) since you will skip authentication causing it to error out with an "oops".  Even if you were to grab a working .website shortcut and pin that to your taskbar, it still wouldn't work since pinning is broken.
    3.  You can pin the .URL shortcut by dragging it to the taskbar and it will pin itself as a child process of Internet Explorer.
    4.  If the plugin isn't working make sure that you are using IE and not some other browser.  I personally haven't tested it in other browsers but that could be the issue.
    5.  Make sure the Windows firewall or any other security software isn't blocking the plugin install or execution.

  • Skype for Modern Windows and Skype for Windows Desktop on a tablet???

Hi All. I am a newby here so please be patient I have a 6 month old Toshiba Encore that comes installed with "Skype for Modern Windows". When I opened Skype today I received an advice/advert saying that this service will cease July 7 and I should uninstall and update to "Skype for Windows Desktop". News flash.... I have a tablet and it is telling me to install a Desktop version? Is this correct, dispite that my device is a (Windows 8.1) OS tablet, am I still required to make the conversion? Any advice most appreciated.

And just in case your next question is "Why". I am just a user like you so no inside knowledge but from what I have read it is partly down to the "Modern" version actually being based on "Old" tech, so it couldn't intergrate with the cloud based future of Skype and partly down to it isn't probably worth fixing (It had a lot of issues that I could see). Unfortunatly for some it is a bit inconvenient that it's being killed off before Windows 10 is released. The one thing I liked about the "Modern" version was the intergration with for example your contacts in the people app, but if you uninstall (Or when it gets killed off in a couple of weeks) you lose that intergration. I know you still have it in Outlook with intergration for the desktop version but to be honest Outlook isn't great on a seven inch tablet either. From my understanding when 10 is finally here and Skype catches up there will be full Skype intergration with your contacts again (Although I could be wrong and that is for the WP). Anyway, I for one would love MS to consider the universal app idea based on the WP version for smaller or all tablets. Maybe someone from Skype will reply?

  • New Skype chatt window looks horrible and make it ...

New Skype chatt window looks horrible and make it a lot harder to use efficiantly.
I just restarted PC and got the new Skype version 6.22.0.107
To my big disappointment the new layout of the chatt conversations looks much worse that the previous version.
I use SKype everyday for work and this new layout makes it very hard to foolow long conversations.
Please add an option to get the previous version back.
If it works liek this our team has to swicth tools to something better.

  • Windows 10 and Skype - doesn't work for me

Had perfectly settled, working Skype on Windows 8.1 (Pro) config Upgrade to Win 10 (release). Skype client won't log in any more.> It's not account details - I can log in on the WEB on the same machine.> Completely un-installed Skype following help instructions. Re-install. Client fires up, accepts username/pwd, but won't log in - spinning circle.> other apps needing internet are working fine (Edge browser, Chrome). I can't find any tools to help me diagnose what's going on. Really important app for me - help welcome!

I tried the app data, rename old file.  At first it looked like it worked, but then right back to spinning balls.  But almost as important it WOULD NOT let me sign in with my Skype ID.  It would only let me sign in and then create a new ID associated with my Microsoft (old hotmail) e-mail.  Obviously that is not what I want. So hopefully it works for you, but deleteing the %appdata% user file clearly isn't fixing the root issue. I have checked my firewall and Skype is allowed.  Same Bitdefender settings that used to work.  Also, in re-starting it several times, Skype now wants two factor authentication everytime I sign in!!!!  Obviously, that is a huge time waster. Spent hours searching the interwebs as we use Skype for business communications.  What I have found is it is clearly the early August update to Windows 8 and 10 that broke it.  There are no for sure fixes that I have found.  Mostly check your firewall and then the rename your user data file as above, and few or no reported cases of sucess.  Hope someone takes this seriously at Skype, we are down on a critical business use for Skype for a few weeks, starting to feel been sold a bill of goods.

  • Safari and Skype stopped working simultaneously. Help!

    Hey,
I am a complete tech noob here, I'm going to try and express my problem in as general/simple a way as I can. If any advice can be written with the fact that I don't even know how to manually insert commands with my macbook in mind, I'd appreciate it!
I have a Macbook Pro using Mac OS X 10.6.5 (Now technically "updated" to 10.6.7. but with problems I will mention further on). I've only been using it for a year, and everything is in relatively good condition.
However, just last night I've encountered problems with Safari and Skype. Safari opens fine, and if I don't type anything into the URL box and hit enter, then I can do all the clickings such as checking my bookmarks, history, etc. But once I type a URL in and hit enter, it loads a bit and immediately freezes (with that rainbow swirly thing). With Skype, it lets me open, logs into the interface, and lasts as far as me being able to see all the users that are online/offline on my contact list before shutting down (not just freezing like Safari, but disappears with the error message popping up.) I managed to download and install skype again. This time, nothing goes wrong until I click on a user name and open up the window to begin typing. Then, instead of just shutting down, it freezes.
I have reset/shut down my laptop multiple times, and attempted to "reset" Safari, since a friend suggested that it might be some cookie problem. However, Safari freezes on me every time I attempt to make a reset. Since it's the default browser for mac, I can't make any software updates either (assuming that will fix anything that is).
The two long error messages I get after I force quit Skype and Safari seem to be similar. I don't know if it'll be helpful for me to post them here since they're so long...but this is what my friend commented:
"both safari and skype failing at the same time means something is going wrong with the OS system calls made by both applications. the stack traces you sent me also seem to suggest this. Firefox uses its own internal programming to do everything which is why it still works. Unfortunately I don't know enough about development on mac to give you an answer from stack traces.
my best guesses would be something wonky in your font configuration or possibly graphics subsystem, windowing toolkit, or filesystem. it's a long shot but try repairing permissions and check the filesystem on your main partition in disk utility. I notice the safari stack trace suggests a failure at 18 HTTPCookieStorage::lookupAndCopyCookies() "
I've already repaired permissions and verified my HD. Everything seems to be fine with my HD, but the problem persists.
Another friend suggested that it might be problems with a program(?) called "Webkit". How do I go about fixing that?
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my computer and how to go about fixing it? I don't remember downloading anything between the span of it working and malfunctioning so I'm dumbfolded.
    Addendum:
I installed the updates for 10.6.7 successfully (someone suggested I do this since my problem is an "internal" one). However, after the reset, the first thing that popped up after I logged back in was an error message saying "Softwareupdatechecker failed to open" or something like that. I think it opened and froze; hence the error message. That pretty much suggested that my Skype and Safari aren't fixed either (and they're not, still the same freezing problems).

    Here are the messages.

  • After installing Mavericks Facetime and skype video calls are terrible

    Hi,
I just got my GF to buy herself a Macbook air. I myself got a Macbook Pro, and we were talking on facetime no problem what so ever. The stream was flawless, splendid infact! But then it happend, I saw that there was a new OSX available. Right away I said to my GF that there was a new update. And we should upgrade ASAP, to see the new features and what not. Going to be great I said. Never have I been more wrong. We continued facetiming troughout the download fase. And was not having any issues. But when we initiated the installation and after the reboot and the "amazing" mavericks OSX was installed. I called her back to continue the conversation. It was a complete disaster, she could only hear a few words of what I was saying. sometimes I got a hole sentence through without beeing broken off. Never lost the conection, just falling in and out. Tried calling with the new just talk feature without any luck.
How can it be that something that was working perfectly, no is completly broken. I tried using skype instead, even with worse videoquality the conversations were a nightmare. So my final solution was! Relogging with bootcamp, and logged on windows 7. poped up skype, and it ran FLAWLESSLY for HOURS. no interuptions what so ever.
So what I'm asking. I want to go back to facetime, and that lovely video quality that you offer. Has anyone experienced the same issue, and found a fix for this if I may say embarresing problem. This shouldn't be a issue at all. Not when it was working flawlessly before.
Have allready tried rebooting and pressing "cmd" + "r" and doing a reinstall of Mavericks, did not do me any good.
I do appreciate all the help I can get. I'm desperate!
    Regards
Desperate facetime user whos been forced to use windows and skype

    Hi,
Did you delete the com.apple.imessages.bag.plist and com.apple.imservice.imessages.plist ?
I would also try deleting com.apple.imagent.plist as this is used by both FaceTime and iMessages.
If none of those work I would open Keychain Access in Applications/Utilities and use the Repair Keychain in the App Menu.

  • Logitech C920 and Skype Video Calls

So, the Logitech C920 I have worked before with Skype video calls with no problems. But after this new update, it doesn't detect the web cam anymore. I've googled, searched this forum, searched reddit and every possible form of help to only still not detect the web cam.
I've used 6.22, 6.18,  and right now I'm on 6.14 and it still won't be detected. I've tried every USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 port I have on my rig.
Now before someone tells me it's the web cam that's broken, the web cam works on Logitech's program, it works on twitch, it works on Microsoft's program as well. All drivers are up-to-date as well.
Completely frustrated with this problem and I was wondering if posting it would be of any help.
I am on Windows  8.1 Pro 64-bit as well.
    Solved!

    Hi,
Im having a similar issue. Logitech c920 no picture in SKYPE. Other apps are OK and SKYPE titles my webcam but it just a blank screen with spinning wheel in setting. Sound is OK.
Im running Windows 7 64bit. I have uninstalled SKYPE and updated the drivers ( AMD Catalyst to 14.2 and also tested beta 15.4 ) with no change.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • Help configuring Audition with Virtual  Audio Cable and Skype

I'm using the latest version of Audition, along with Virtual Audio Cable and Skype for my PC (Windows 7).  While I'm able to properly configure my own microphone (Edirol UA-25), to be captured by Audition on track 1, I can't seem to get track 2 configured properly to capture and record.
I seem to be missing a step.
Is there anyone that can help me properly configure or offer an alternative that will allow me to record my microphone and the Skype call on two separate tracks?
Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Others may have made it work but I've never persuaded Audition to record a mic in one channel and line out (Skype) in the other.  Since Audition it designed to work with a single ASIO audio interface, this makes sense.
My solution is to use a little utility called the iFree Skype recorder:  Record Skype Calls with iFree Skype Recorder - Your FREE Skype call recorder software
It works well for me, keeping the outgoing part of the call and the incoming separate for easy editing later.  It works fine with an external audio interface and good mic as long as Skype is set up to work that way.
The only drawback is that it records in MP3 not wave but, given the quality of most Skype calls, this isn't really a deal breaker.

  • Copied my iTunes music from my Windows 7 computer to my Windows 8 computer and my MP3 songs will not play on my Windows 8 computer?

How to get iTunes to play my MP3 files in Windows 8.  They played in Windows7.

I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.
To listen to music I imported the iTunes Library in Windows Media Player and changed the audio output using the following instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11ba
However, I would also like to rent movie's from iTunes,
Would be great if iTunes would let you choose the output device, too, like most other applications using sound  from Skype to Windows Media Player,...

  • Lync and Skype federation

    Hi Friends,
Can I achieve lync and skype federation in office 365 environment, if yes what all the procedures to follow?
    Regards
    Amit R Singh

yes, you can. To enable Skype integration with Lync users for Office 365, you can refer to the following steps:
Sign in to Office 365 portal with the global administrator account> click Manage organization-wide settings under service settings>click IM, meetings, and conferencing>turn on the external communication.
    Note:
Skype users must sign in to Skype with a Microsoft account (formerly Windows Live ID) to communicate with Lync contacts.
Also you can check below link

  • Can't Join Group Chats, Can't Receive Files, and Skype Home Doesn't Work

Okay, so back when Windows 8 was newer I got my current laptop and when I saw Skype's original Windows 8 design, I said hell no to that and downloaded an earlier version of Skype instead. When Skype did that big overhaul and stopped support for all older versions, I was at least happy to see it was back to being on the desktop instead of that Windows 8 pseudo-tablet nonsense. But at the same time, I stopped getting notifications from Skype Home - it always says it's unavailable. Some time after that, in between Skype's updates, I started having trouble with Groups. Every time someone tried to add me to one, I couldn't see it, even if they said I was in it on their screen. Eventually I had to start making all Group Chats myself, because at least then it worked for me... up until the 7.7 update. Now no matter how I try to get into a Group now, it straight up doesn't work. And before I got locked out of Groups entirely, I started having issues with files, right around when the "inline photos" thing happened - they just don't work when sent to me, and I can't send them either. When people try to send them to me it's just a grey image and something about how it's not supported or it didn't go through.  I've sort of just been patiently dealing with all of it until the newest update when Groups stopped working entirely and I was in the middle of trying to join an important conversation. I Googled that specific issue and found a ton of unresolved threads about it dating back to at least 2013, I believe. I tried every suggestion I could find - I restarted, uninstalled Skype, reinstalled Skype, restarted after uninstalling and then reinstalling... the list goes on. Every time I got it back, it was the same. Now I'm on Windows 8.1, and I don't know if that's related, but my boyfriend - who uses a Mac - is having none of these problems whatsoever, and he also has the latest version of Skype.  With older versions of Skype not available, I ended up trying Skype Web, and it's letting me see all the Groups, which is the most important thing but I'd really prefer to go back to the desktop version. All three of my issues might be unrelated, but they've all progressed as Skype has updated so I figured I'd try to get help for all of them. I'm at my wit's end, here. I use Skype for a pretty large portion of my online communication, and being unable to use Groups or get files is really crippling the experience.

    Hi,
    I have the same problem.
Since I'm using my new Laptop with Skype 7.0, I can't join to a group chat.
It's a public chat and joining is enabled.
With my former laptop and former Skype-Version, I never had this problem.
I could click on a link in the browser and joined to the group.
I have to chose a program.
Unfortunately Skype.exe seems not to be the right decision.
I'm asked to get a Skype-app, which I never needed with the old version.
Which kind of app do I need and how can I get the app or what else can I do?

I am changing a keynote to a ppt and a window drops down and says an unknown error occurred

It is peculiar, that Chrome, Safari, and Skype can access FB, but not the iPhoto uploader.
Do you see any error messages/ diagnostics in the Console Window, when you try to connect to Facebook?
Launch a Console window from Applications > Utilities and clear the Console Window. Then try to upload. Are there any new messages?
And also launch a Terminal and have a look, if "facebook.com" is properly resolved:
    Type
    ping facebook.com
into the window. Do you see any transmissions? What is the IP address used?
    I see:
