Windows 8.1 and Solution Center

HP Omni 27, C6380, Latest Solution Center from HP web site lists Windows 8.1 as working. While the PS_AIO_4_C6380_NET_FULL_WIN_WW_140_ 408 installs the printer, it will not install the Soultion Center software.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-122330-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
This will not install even in Compatibility Mode. So, assuming this is a problem unique to me and my machine, can anyone say why HP would list this as working with Windows 8.1, when it does not seem to?
I have used the L4 uninstall and rebooted for every attempted install. I have uninstalled my printer each time, and let the software find it again, which it does. Is there any installation  technique which would get this SC to install?

I booted into Win 8.1 Safe Mode. I was able to remove all printer software using L4 Uninstall from my original disk. However I could not install the printer software in S.M.
So I went into Win 8.1 normal mode, and it did install with relatively no problem. Had to connect the wireless printer to computer with a USB cable, but it was finally "found". Then it said all software was sucessfully installed. But there was no Solution Center. And this was my whole reason for doing this, to ger the S.C. back.
Is there a way I can get the AIO software in a .iso file. Then I could make an installation disk myself. This would allow me to open the disk and navigate to the Solution Center Software and try just installing that.
Thanks,
Dave

If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.

just to let you know: my HP 2000 and printer 4500-G510 were working fine up until I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8.1. the solution center disapeared so no way to scan...the printer otherwise worked.
    uninstalled and re-installed , nothing worked;
    I finally fixed this by:
    downloading the HP scan doctor,
uninstall all printers manually , then restart computer
re-install printer program ( funny, there was a window asking which way was my printer : ethernet or usb, nochoice
for wifi was offered so, i chose ethernet)
then restarted the computer again...and it worked!!!

  • "iTunes has stopped working" Windows 7 - Problem and Solution

    Problem:
When I moved my iTunes library from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro, iTunes would always crash. The "Detail" on the error message referred to
    Fault Module Name = Quicktime.qts
To troubleshoot I deleted the iTunes Libray.itl file in the user profile. Then I would "Add Folder" and point to my iTunes directory to rebuild the library. I then noticed it would always crash on the same song when "Processing Artwork".
The problem was caused by specific .mp4 song files that I had purchased from iTunes.
    Solution:
This is not easy but it works . . The bad .mp4 files still work in iTunes on Windows XP. So in iTunes on Windows XP, right-click > Info > Artwork > remove the artwork from the .mp4 file. Then move the file to your Windows 7 computer and load it into iTunes. It now works without crashing. You can then add the artwork again from iTunes or from a .jpg off of Google Images.
Fix your .mp4 files one at time until there are none left that cause the crash. Remember you find them by processing the artwork . . the bad file will show in the little windows at the top of iTunes after the crash.
I am not an iTunes expert as such . . maybe there is another way to remove and replace the bad images from the .Mp4 files purchased from iTunes other than using iTunes on XP.

    Hi,
    this is my first post.
I upgraded my Toshiba l750-a218 laptop to windows 8 and i have been facing some problems (hiccuos).
i waited for the upgraded drivers and they were released on 21,22,23 this month and they had no solutions so this is what i noticed on windows 8
    1. The function keys flash cards are gone. i tried every TVAP available for windows 8 and flash card support utility for other laptops but its not working. the falsh cards dont appear on the screen but all the keys work, except i can;t turn bluetooth and wifi on/off separetely.
    2. bluetooth drivers: i couldn't find driver for this laptop so i used atheros bleutooth filter of another B series toshiba laptop which comes with windows 8 and bluetooth driver. now its working.
    3. computer turns on when opening lid even if its shut down or hibernated. installed toshiba hardware driver i saw an option to turn on pc when opening lid tried both on/off no change
    4. graphics nvidia used drivers from nvidia official site
5.toshiba sleep and charge has changed to shut down and charge probably related to problem #3, i turned usb sleep and charge off from the bios.
    6. synaptics i used official drivers from their site
other than that everything works fine.

    >except i can;t turn bluetooth and wifi on/off separetely.
This is how it work in Win 8
    >2. bluetooth drivers: i couldn't find driver for this laptop so i used atheros bleutooth filter of another B series toshiba laptop which comes with windows 8 and bluetooth driver. now its working.
Yes, some Win 7 drivers works in connection with Win 8
    >3. computer turns on when opening lid even if its shut down or hibernated. installed toshiba hardware driver i saw an option to turn on pc when opening lid tried both on/off no change
Here you should perform a complete shutdown in Windows 8
In Windows 8, when shutting down a computer, actually a hybrid shutdown is performed by default.

  • Solutions Center patch won't work. Windows 7 from Vista. C6280.Red

I have a Dell Inspiron (Windows 7) and a C6280 on red with my husband's Hp Pavillion lap (Vista).  When I click Solutions Center to scan, a pop-up tells me I cannot do that just because. I have a CD for Vista since the lap is older than the Dell, when I try it Windows tells me to forget it. Then a window tells me Solutions Center won't work because I never finished installing something or "other".  If they mean PS_AIO_02_NetWired-FullWin_WW-130-140 I installed it 4 times. "Others" were many.  When I try the patch (dot4patch_reboot.exe) it immediately reboots  and... nothing else.  For rebooting my computer I don't need a patch, I'm obstruse but not that much. This is the 4th day I'm working at this and I'm desperate.   I'm thinking of throwing the whole rubble out of the window. In case I change that for myself: would a kind soul help me with this mess, please, please, pretty please?  You might have noticed I'm not very good at this kind of problem.  Therefore I have something extra to ask: make it simple?  Like Forums for Dummies?  Thank you so very much. Whether you can help me or not you had the patience to read all this.  Bless you.

    RitadeCasia,
I am sorry it is not working.
This part of your statement concerns me:
"Only new happening today was an  HP window offering downloads, erasings and so forth with the image of a lovely Oriental girl."
This Update message is not from HP.  HP does not offer any updates while showing the image of any lovely person.
    You might consider the following:
The system may be infected with a Virus (corruption causing software) or Malware (essentially an unwanted or malicious program)
Use your best Anti-Virus software and run the best, deepest scan that is offered.  When the first scan is complete, run your Anti-Virus again.
    Anti-Virus Software packages
If you do not have Anti-Virus software, or if you need recommendations:
Avast Anti-Virus   NOTE:  You may select the free version.  Avast "plays well with others:  it gets along with Windows Defender (the Microsoft Anti-Virus that comes standard on your computer.
Recommendations provided by Microsoft for Anti-Virus software that works well with Windows 7 and most probably with Vista as well:
Windows 7 consumer security software providers
Malwarebytes software can help pull out, that is, it can extract and destroy those programs that do not belong on your computer.  Download and install the Free Version.  You might run it at least one time, perhaps twice.
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free
After each time the computer is scanned, reboot / restart your computer and log in.
    ======================================================================================
    File System Scan -- sfc
Assuming the computer is considered "cleaned" of unwanted virus and malware software, you might next complete a system Scan to help make sure the File System is healthy:
Using System File Checker (SFC) to Restore System Files
System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Wi...
The sfc scan can be run more than one time to make sure it catches everything it can find.
After the sfc scan completes, try your installations again.
    ======================================================================================
    New Backups -- System Recovery
After the scans are completed and you are fairly confident that the system is clean, you will want to create a new backup of your personal data.   This is a backup of your Account, files, and any "extra" folders that you have created that is not part of the Vista Operating System.
You do not want to over write any previous backups this time.  Example:  If you have a backup of your data on a USB stick that you made last month, two months ago -- or any time before the problems began, then you should KEEP that older backup and make a new backup on a different USB drive.
In other words:  You need to make new backups -- but you may not yet be able to trust them 100%; keep the older backups along with the new ones.  IF you end up having to run a full Recovery on the computer, you will then have a choice about which personal backups to load after the recovery is complete.
    Recovery
If you cannot fix the persistant problems on your computer, you may have to run a full Recovery to reinstall your Vista Operating System.  Please READ all the following documents before you run a Recovery.
You may NOT need to run the Recovery if you can fix the problems and your computer is again "acting normally".  I am providing the Recovery information in case you need it.
Reminder:  A full Recovery is destructive -- the Recovery procedure removes your data, removes the Operating System, and then reinstalls Vista.  You must then complete additonal Recovery steps to load your personal data into place on the computer. **
** The exception:  IF you have created (previously) a full IMAGE backup, you can use it to restore your computer to that exact condition.  A full Image contains not only the Vista OS, it also contains all your personal data, your programs, and everything else that was on the main disk when the Image was created.
If you do not already have an Image, you will be using other means to Recover the system back to working order.
Documents to Help with Backups and Recovery
The first document shows you how to use the computer's programs to make personal backups.   This is not the Recovery procedure -- it is something you do BEFORE you run the Recovery.  This procedure is related to Recovery in that it is preparation work you do ahead of time to protect your data.
Reminder:  Do not overwrite your previous backups -- IF your system is infected AND the Anti-Virus programs cannot  completely fix the problem, then you still need to make backups, but you also need to understand that they may not be 100% safe or complete.  You can use the new backups, just know that IF they are later found to be infected, you will be depending on your older backups to restore your personal data  -- you need to keep both old and new personal backups on hand and ready to use.
Use Windows Basic Backup and Restore Center to Back Up Files in Vista
    The above doc calls:
How to Back Up Your Files (Windows Vista or XP)
This document shows you how to run the Recovery procedure -- this is the "destructive part" that removes and then reinstalls Vista.
Recover Windows Vista Operating System Using HP Recovery – Notebooks
This document explains what steps are necessary to completely restore your computer after you complete the initial Recovery of the Vista Operating System:  installing personal programs (Firefox) and personal files (your personal documents and pictures).
NOTE that you will need on hand:  Downloads or CDs of your programs that are not part of Vista.  For example, if you have installed a Photo Editing software, you will need to reload it after the Recovery.

  • Problem with installing Solution Center for a HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g

    Hi folks,
I've searched many threads and found some directions to remedy this, tried them and have had no luck.
I'm running Windows 7.  All updates are current.  When I bought the printer I installed the software (on Windows 7 OS) from the disc and everything was fine.  Fast forward a year and Solution Center stopped working.
Uninstalled all HP software to reinstall.  I was only able to reinstall HP Update.  I was able to load the basic drivers for print and scan, but not the entire software suite including Solution Center.  The installation stops abruptly after "installing updates".
I even downloaded and tried "PS_AIO_06_C309g-m_USW_Full_Win_enu_140_175" and got the same result as the original installation disc.
What can I do with my printer (HP Photosmart Premium All-in-One Printer - C309g)???
    Thanks,

    Hi @lacarottess,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are looking for the HP Solution Center software for your HP Deskjet F2290 and HP Scanjet 2300c. I am happy to look for this for you!
For your HP Deskjet F2290 printer: the HP Solution Center is found in the full feature software and drivers found at this website, HP Deskjet F2200/F2224 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver, or you can use the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows (recommended).
For your HP Scanjet 2300c: I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it, in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at HP Enterprise Business Community.

  • Language of HP solution center

    HP Photosmart Premium - C410b Model : CQ521B
The language of my HP solution center is in German and the one on my printer in in French.  Frencn (or English) is fine but not German
Since the "HP solution center" is in German, I then not able to chnage it into French
Please tell me how to change the language of my HP solution center
    [Personal Information Removed]

Hello there @2585, welcome to the forums!
I understand the Solution Center is installed in German, and you would like to change the language to French or English.
Normally the Solution Center will install in the language your computer system is set up to be in.
If you are using Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8, you could try:
Click on Start - Control Panel - Clock, Language, and Region - Formats Tab and change the language on your computer to French or English.
How to Install HP Software in Different Language than the OS in Windows XP
If the Solution Center is not showing in either of the languages you would want, try Uninstalling the Printer Software, restarting your computer, and reinstalling the printer and software again and it should be set to whichever language your computer is set to.
I hope that helps you! Please let me know the results and if there is an issue, include which operating system you are running.

  • Is there a way to only install print drivers plus HP Solution center?

I have a HP PSC 1510v AIO printer.  I just re-installed Windows XP Pro and would like to install the software.  However, I do not want all the other software installed, only the print drivers and the HP Solution Center.  I have downloaded the print drivers from the HP website, but cannot find only the HP SC.
Can anybody tell me if this is possible, and if so, how do I get the HP SC software?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Still no-go.  Here is what I did:
1- Uninstall all HP software (I only have the 1510 printer from HP)
    2- Reboot
3- Run the 4 batch files that remove HP stuff.
    4- Reboot
5- Run regedit and delete all known HP references.  Some I was not sure about, so I left those alone.
6- Run CCleaner and the registry cleaner portion.
    7- Reboot
8- Reinstall the software using the CD with the software.
What I end up with is the printer works and Solution Center will start, but it shows "No device found".  From there, if I try to install the printer, it locks up the computer when the install software is searching for the printer.  I left this run for 60 minutes, so I am allowing enough time for it to install.  BTW, in step #8 above, the install directory shows as the directory I specified in the very first install I did, so all the uninstallling I am doing is not getting every last bit.

I am using an HP Envy Sleekbook, which is running Windows 8.1  I am connected, via a ethernet/router connection to an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Premier All-in-one device.  I am able to add the device via the Windows Control pannel and print from any application.  When I try to use the HP Solution Center for scanning purposes, it indicates that the device is disconnected.  I have tried all of the troubleshooting listed (checked cables, restarted router, shut-down and turned back on both laptop and printer, reinstalled printer and software) numerous times.  I am still getting this error!  Looking for help with this error or work around so I can scan with my device.  I did not have any problems with my old laptop, which was running Windows Vista (same printer).  Also when I first installed the printer on the new laptop I made sure I had the latest drivers.  Clearly the printer is communicating with the laptop, because I can use it with other applications.  Appears to be only the HP Solution Center Application issue.
    Thank you.

    Hi tlillie,
Sorry those solutions did not work, however, I do have a few more suggestions.
    Please try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Re-install the software with the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
Hope this will work out better, and please let me know if you still have any issues!

  • Solution Center problem with HP Office Jet J4550 and windows 7 (64bit)

    Hello All,
I have a problem. I have the Solution Center and a HP Office Jet J4550 and windows 7 (64bit). When ever I open the solution center, the solution center says " HP office jet J4550 series disconnected" When I open HP document manager, I can access the printer.  Additionally, when I run the HP Print Diagnostic Utility 4.0, it sees the printer, no issues. I can print test pages. No issues. I downloaded the latest driver from the HP site (OJJ4500_Full_13, 299,359KB) Your insight is appreciated.
    Thank you
    Roy B

I have a similar problem with the J4580 and my new Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  HP Solution Center says that the printer is disconnected.  Furthermore, it can print some documents (short ones), but it was unable to print a 1-page 5MB pdf file.  The printer truncated the page after printing just the top 10%.   The printer is OK with my wife's Windows 7 32-bit laptop.
I've seen many other people complain about similar problems in this and other forums.  Apparently the driver for J4500 printers is not compatible with Windows 7 64-bit.  Can HP please provide an updated driver or patch?
