Windows 8.1 and UAG 2010

hi
wondering if someone out there can give some advice/help.
We are currently running a stand alone UAG 2010 SP4, our XP ( yes we still have some) and Win7 clients connect fine however I still can't get Windows 8.1 clients to authenticate.
When you launch the Portal home page ( portal.domain.com ), it prompts to install the client ( the first time ) and then once that has completed displays " your device does not meet the access policy requirements for this site".  Subsequent
connections start to check and then go direct the error message.
If I check the web monitor for the failed session, it is reporting that OS and Browser are Not Detected.  I have made the changes that others recommended for NT6.3 but that hasn't made any difference.
thanks in advance

Please make sure that all 64 bit operating systems or specifically windows 8.1 is picked in the allowed list of Operating systems from the End point settings
You can only allow specific Windows versions as Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8 or any 64 bit Windows version
to access your portal while denying others.
From the UAG console, click on the HTTPS connection for your Portal link then:
1. Trunk Configuration settings - click configure
2. Go to Endpoint Access Settings
3. Session access policy - Endpoint policy
4. You can edit the default or create a new one with your corporate settings (recommended way)
5. Edit Endpoint policies
6. Pick the default policy or the one you created - edit policy
7. Manage Windows Policies
8. Pick the Windows Policy - Edit Policy
9. In the operating systems, enable the ones you would like to connect to the Portal.
10. Save and activate your configuration and this should do the trick.
Hopefully this will help you.

It is not a bug, you might be using IE in Windows server 2012 and and browser might be restricting your site actions to respond properly.
Check this in a different browser or access site in a differ OS.

  • I purchased a new Windows 8 PC. I have used and continue to use Outlook 2010 for my calendar. With my old Windows 7 PC and Outlook 2010, my calendar sinked properly with my Iphone 5. Now with the new Windows 8 PC, it does not. Help!

I purchased a new Windows 8 PC and I use Outlook 2010 for my calendar. With my old Windows 7 PC and Outlook 2010, my calendar would sync with my Iphone 5, but with the new Windows 8 PC and Outlook 2010, it does not, and I can't figure out how to snyc them. The emails from Outlook 2010 sync, but the calendar does not. Help! Thanks.

Easy solution for restoring lost calendar informaiton, thank goodness.  On your iPhone, go to settings, then to iCloud.  If your Calendar selection is turned off,  turn it on.  Your info should restore.  If your Calendar selection is turned on, then turn it off.  Choose to save calendars when asked.  After it shuts the Calendar off, turn it back on.  Your info should be restored.
Thank you to Apple support for walking me through this.  Shame on you Apple for not just telling people about this easy fix rather than making us go through all of this pain and worry.

  • Resource booking with Windows 8.1 and office 2010

    I've two SP3 Laptops running 8.1 on out network.     I've Office 2010 installed on these and they are mostly working fine;
However they cannot book resources  - this is a common win7 fault we would fix here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982774/en-gb
But its not working under Win 8.1, neither the fixit icon or the manual config.
We are presently running exchange 2003
Is there a 8.1 2010 fix you know of?
    Many thanks,

I asked this yesterday of this forum -

    Hi,
Currently I don't have the exact same environment to test, please make sure you have modified the registry keys correctly and if possible, try this manually on multiple Windows 8.1 machines to see if this is an individual issue or widely affected. If this
fix doesn't work on all Windows 8.1 machines, please provide feedback or to report this issue with this solution, please leave a comment on the "Fix it for me" blog or send an
    email message.

  • I have just purchased my first MacBook Pro and it is pretty fantastic. I own the disks for Microsoft Windows 7 ultimate, and Office 2010 Professional Plus, and need to run them in this Mac. 32 bit discs. Can this happen in boot camp?

I am trying to run Windows and Mac OS on my brand new MacBook Pro. I need to be able to boot to either one. I don't need a lot of hard drive space for the Windows OS. However, the software discs I own for Windows are 32 bit install. Is there a way to run this with what I have? I have the new MacBook 13 in. with retina display. 2.6Ghz i5 with 8GB RAM and 512 GB PCIe Hard drive.

Hi guys! I have a new Macbook Pro purchased from Best Buy yesterday. I had the Geek Squad upgrade the RAM to 8 gigs (They only had PNY brand, I was concerned but went with it anyway). I had them install Boot Camp Windows 7 Ultimate. Today I picked it up and when I started playing with it I learned that they installed the 32 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate instead of the 64 bit version, why, I have NO IDEA.
So, I want to replace the Win 7 installation with the 64 bit version but have read that this can be tricky. What is the proper way to do this? I'm not sure I trust the Geek Squad to do this for me.
I assume I need to reformat the Windows partition, defragment and then install the 64 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate, but am not completely sure. I want to be sure that I do NOT do anything that could affect the Mac side
    What do you guys think?
I think you should take it back to the Geeks and tell them what you want, I also think you should backup before you do.
You do not need to reformat or repartition, you need to reinstall Windows from a 64bit copy, 32 & 64 have identical requirements as far as partition and format go, defragmenting has nothing at all to do with your needs.

  • Windows 8.1 and Office 2010

    Hi
Has anyone experienced an issue with desktop icons moving to left side of desktop after amending an office document for the first time, and subsequent occasions.
I use MS Office 2010 on Windows 8.1. The view settings "Arrange Automatically" and "Align to Grid" are off.  Office documents are arranged on the right hand side of the desktop.  If I create a new document on the right,
open it and amend it, and then hit save button before closing it, the document will end up on the left hand side.  This usually happens on the first initial amendment, and can happen again after subsequent saves.  I have confirmed this on multiple
Windows 8.1 machines and also Windows 7 machine with Office 2003.

    Hi,
I tested Office 2013 Word in my Windows 8.1 update, and it also has the same symptom as you described, after editing the document and saving it on desktop, it will be automatically moved to the left side. currently, I have no idea on this issue, I will report
    it.
    Thanks for your support.

  • Icloud doesn't work after a clean install of windows 8 pro and office 2010

After installing the  'iCloud Control Panel for Windows v2.0' on my cleanly built laptop. I now getting the following error after activation the mail option under the iCloud Control Panel 'Setup can't Continue Because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again'..
I have done this add also added a second email address and change the new email address to be the default email address.
I've also done the following as well....
Ideally the error message you have mentioned is related to iCloud. But you may try these steps as you have already tried re-installing the iCloud control panel and sign in back to sync with Outlook:
Check if there is any new updated version of iCloud released for Windows 8.
    1. Sign out from iCloud control Panel.
    2. Go to Outlook -> Click on File -> Options -> Add-ins.
    3. Select Com Add-ins in Manage -> Click on GO.
    4. Disable all the Add-ins -> Click OK to save the settings.
Now go to iCloud Control panel and sign into the iCloud account. Open Outlook and check if you are able to sync.
however the same original error still accures. can i also point out i have delete the all the os and applications and started again by rebuilding the os windows 8 pro but this time using ms office 2013 and the error 'Setup can't Continue Because Outlook isn't configured to have a default profile. Check your Outlook settings and try again' happens again als did option 1-4 from above as well and the error still happens.
    Any Idea's?

Windows 8 is not supported on Boot Camp, that may or may not be part of your issue but it makes troubleshooting difficult. Post in Microsofts forums as well, that error message is not limited to Boot Camp installations, regular Windows users also get it.

  • Windows 7 Pro and Enterprise and Office 2010 Not Able to re-Activate

In September 2012, I was tasked to provide desktop support for a small <50 seat school that uses a combination of Windows 7 Enterprise and Pro as well as Office 2010 Pro Plus with Volume Licenses purchased through Dell. In May of 2013, it was discovered
that our Microsoft Volume License agreement had lapsed and at the time we could not afford to renew it. In September we purchased a 5 seat license from JourneyEd for Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010 Pro Plus. Also in July 2013, we upgraded and consolidated our
    server setup.
In November, we began to see notifications that our Microsoft products were becoming deactivated and needed to be reactivated. When we would try to reactivate, there would be an error message that said reactivating failed with no further message.
I need assistance to determine what is causing our licenses to deactivate and also how to fix this issue.
Thank you in advance for your assistance

    Hi,
For licensing related issue, you’d better contact Microsoft licensing team. In the United States and Canada, you may call the licensing team directly at 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly
to a Microsoft licensing specialist. In this way, you will know the detailed information about license.
Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites

  • Windows 7 and Office 2010 activation issues

    hey everyone
since a few days we facing really strange issue here within our school. We are running windows 7 machines and office 2010 and all our different machine types is it VDI VMs, physical laptops, desktop computer or provisioning machines (Citrix PVS) are facing
    issues with the licensing.
Sometimes Windows 7 Key is not installed anymore, sometime it is just not activated same for office. So the KMS is installed with the KMS host keys since years and KMS service is running. Also the DNS Output points to the server
    C:\Users\.........>nslookup -type=srv _vlmcs._tcp
    Server:  DC....
    Address:  192.168.X.Y
    _vlmcs._tcp.Domain   SRV service location:
              priority       = 0
              weight         = 0
              port           = 1688
              svr hostname   = KMSHost
    KMSHost.domain  internet address = 192.168.X.Z
Also when i manually force the machines to update against KMS with VAMT or CLI it is working. What could cause that issues?
    Time issues?
    Scripts?
Thanks for any clue and advice

    Hi Duke,
"since a few days we facing really strange issue here within our school"
Have you made any modifications to the KMS server or the whole environment ?Will the issue persist or occur randomly ?Will it occur on the specific ones or all the machines ?
There are several specific log recorded in the event viewer when the KMS try to activate the machines .We can try to check the event logs both from the client and the KMS server to troubleshoot this issue .Please also check the Windows logs\Applications
,system logs for useful information to troubleshoot this issue .

I am trying to setup a BB on a computer that is running windows 7 (64bit) and office 2010.  For some reason it will not sync correctly.  Has anyone had issues witht this?  The phone is an 8850.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Many have had issues, many have had success. The only way to diagnose is with details..."it will not sync correctly" only leaves us to guess. Here are some details that might help:
    1) Your BB Desktop Software version -- all 4 octets please
    2) Your BB OS level -- again, all 4 octets
    3) Your carrier/country
    4) What, exactly, happens when you try to sync? Can you configure and not sync? Can you not configure? Are there error messages? Details please to help us to help you.

We need to publish Exchange 2013 through UAG 2010. But we are not getting any dedicated link for UAG 2010 to publish Exchange 2013. we have UAG 2010 with SP4.

    Hi Jitender,
Based on my knowledge, publishing Exchange 2013 with UAG 2010 is similar with publishing Exchange 2010.

  • Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

    Hello,
    I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
    Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly

    Hi George,
Thank you for checking this out ... :)
    I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
    I found the
mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
As I mentioned above, I followed
the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
    Cheers,
    TheShyButterfly
Hope you have a terrific day, theShyButterfly
