I apologize if this is not the correct forum for such a question, but the "Developer" section didn't seem quite appropriate and Apache can be considered a UNIX technology so here goes . . .
I am updating my web pages to prepare for changes in future versions of IE, as detailed in "Apple's Preparing Websites with Active Content for Upcoming Changes to Internet Explorer for Windows". My question is using these changes, how might I present users with a "Click to Play" image that updates the web page with the appropriate code without loading a new page.
To clarify, once a user goes to any web page, that user should be able to click an image that would load the Apple-recommended Javascript function QTWriteOBJECTXHTML in its place. I'm guessing I want a Javascript function to replace itself with another Javascript function.
Does anyone know how to do this?
If I find a way to do this in before I get a definitive answer, I'll post what I find.

   This is about as far from the correct forum as you can get. This has nothing to do with Apache per se. It is purely a question about HTML and JavaScript. However, there are some folks here that do some web development so you'll probably get an answer. In fact, I'm going to take a shot at it myself if I can figure out what you want.
   I don't understand the part about the image or the purpose of the corresponding link. Why do you want the execution of the recommended JavaScript to depend on a user click?
   If I understand their recommendations correctly, the QTWriteOBJECTXHTML function is invoked as the page loads. It sounds like the change that Micro$oft makes is triggered when an <Object> tag (or similar tag) is encountered while the document is being downloaded. The trick appears to involve adding the <Object> tags as the document is being loaded. By the time the document is rendered, the <Object> tags should be in it and the document should look just like it did before the fix. Thus, I don't see any point in changing the user experience.
   If you do have some compelling reason for changing the user experience, all you have to do is to code the page for that using <Object> or <Embed> tags. Then after you have what you want, do exactly what Apple recommends and simply replace <Object> tags like before. I don't believe that <Object> tags can be containers, can they? If not, it shouldn't be possible to create a page for which their recommendations fail to work in the fashion they describe.

ICloud sync with Outlook deleted recent and upcoming appointments

I recently decided to enable iCloud Sync on my iPhone, and more recently I also enabled it on Outlook. It had been a while since I synced my phone to my computer, but the result ended up being that when I enabled iCloud Sync in Outlook, it deleted all appointments I had scheduled since I last synced to my computer.
Is there any way to get these back?

I have 500 CD songs.
Last time I'm using Itunes in Mac Book pro using my login ID...when I insert the CD song (audio CD) Itunes will auto save all the song in ACC format in the Itunes folder : right.
Now my Mac book pro formated all the save files wiped......
Questions 1:
Ok now my questions If I ask my brother to use his Laptop windows XP O/S and using diffrent ID and put all the 500 cd songs it will save in My Music>iTunes...all the 500 songs: right.
Questions 2:
Can all the 500 songs copies into the external drive....and paste to my new Mac book pro after format....in the itunes location..is my ID will detected again all my song also ICloud will sync all the songs....

Linux Mint 13 and Upcoming Win 8 Dual boot

Will it be possible to run Linux Mint with the up coming Win 8 distribution. I have a Thinkpad E530 Edge with Win 7 preinstalled and am thinking of "upgrading" for 15 bucks to Win 8. Will this disable my Linux Mint 13?

My question was if on your system GRUB is in the first sector of the disk vs. in the first sector of the Linux partition - which can be determined in a number of ways:
a) when you power-on your Thinkpad, is the bluish ThinkVantage button (with a special shape and I believe to the left of the power button) take you to Lenovo Recovery?
b) the menu used to select Linux / Windows - how many entries does it have? (if it has more than 2 probably it is the GRUB menu, which for this would be installed in the first sector of the disk, also called Master Boot Record or MBR); if this is the case then installing Win8 (or even reinstalling Win7) might create certain boot problems since GRUB might need a re-installation!

Arch and upcoming Gnome

Hi. Well, for those who do not know, there's already a new Gnome development branch on the run. This branch includes, among others, the presence of administration tools. However, these tools do not support Arch, and I was thinking a lot of people would like Arch to be supported.
However, I do not consider myself familiar enough with the system in order to provide the necessary information, which in fact I do not even know *how* to provide it.
So I was wondering, is anyone working on Arch integration by any chance? And if not, is anyone up to it?

Windows user switching to Mac, finding everything and how to?

Hi, I'm currently a Windows 7 user. I'm happy with windows but I could be happier!
I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 and I absolutly love how they work together (via iCloud etc) and also how everything looks and feels. One thing in my opinion that wipes W7 off the age is the fluidness of a Mac. Just how well and easily it works. As Steve Jobs said last year "it just works" and he's right!
Another big thing that I love about Mac is the connection between the iOS and OSX Lion (and upcoming Moutain Lion).
And I feel the need (or want) to switch to Mac because I want that connection with my mobile devices and my Laptop/ Home Computer.
But there's a few things that are stopping me from doing that and it's basically my lack of knowledge regarding OSX Lion etc...
It's simple things like Music. On windows, you press the start menu and you see music where you have all your folders regarding music (Albums, songs, or other audio) and also Photo's with all your photo albums etc etc etc...
Another thing holding me back is Software. For example, I burn a lot of CD's for DJ'ing. I use Nero 10 on my PC. Is there any Mac equivilant software that can let me name the CD, burn at different speeds etc etc....
It's simple things like that. I can't really find any video's on the internet showing me these kind of things.

Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 2008 R2 RDS

Hello folks,
Using SRSS 4.2 / SRWC 2.2 with Sun Ray Connector Windows Components software installed on the clients.
Our test show amazing screen speed, and full 32 bit colour depth, great flash speed on Windows 2008 R2 RDS but no audio.
Our test using Windows 7 Enterprise displayed fast graphic speed, Windows Aero disabled, no audio and cannot be changed thus the user experience is not pleasant.
Anyone know when this will be addressed as it is crucial for any new deployments and upcoming desktop refreshes.

After talking with Sun Support, this is a known bug that is slated to get fixed in the next SRWC patch. No timeline was available for the patch.

G400 (intel celeron) Windows 7 Diagnostic driver

good day all. I just bought my G400 freedos (windows 8.1 drivers include). Because I want to use windows 7 32bit, so I download every single driver available from Lenovo Support.
Do I need to install the Lenovo Diagnostic for windows 7 32bit too? if I do, then I confused when I see Lenovo RAID and Lenovo video drivers. on download link it stated for windows 7 32bit, when in system support colomn it state windows 7 64bit.
maybe anyone can help me? Thank you very much for your time and upcoming answers.

You don't have to install the Lenovo Diagnostic.
It will not install on a PC
It is a test that can be mounted to a USB flash drive and work as a bootable drive.
It is a tool that can perform Tests on a computer that crashed and not able to reach Windows due to Hardware or ssoftware problems.
Others you mention those can be installed in your PC
Now with the Version concern
You should follow the details on the system Support Column
it only means that the Software is a 32 bit based Application that can also run on a 64 bit OS.
so just go ahead and download and install it.
It should work fine with no issues.

Synchronizing with Outlook Calendar and Contacts

For the past few days I've been having problems synchronizing my BB Torch 9810 with my Outlook 2010 calendar and contacts. This is only recent, and it might be the result of a problem I had with Office, and the fact that the Deskitop Manager was not recognizing the Outlook profile. Now all that has been solved by running a Repair Tool in Office.
However, I calendar appointments and contacts are no synchronizing properly. With the Calendar, only recurrent items in the BB get transferred to Outllok, like birhtdays and bill payment reminders. I tried all the possible options: synchronize one way from device to PC, replace all entries on PC with BB entries, all entries and upcoming only.
Other details: I have two email accounts in my BB, a btinternet.com and gmail.com.
What I have done:
Removed both accounts and re-added them (re-booting device in the process)
Deleted the Research in Motion folder in %userprofile%\AppData\Local
Because I had multiple calendars, in the Service Book I deleted the CICAL entries for Facebook (don't know how that got there) and gmail, leaving only the btinternet.com
I made sure that btinternet.,com was my default in emails and calendars in Default Services.#
Made sure that the folders to synchronize are the correct ones in the Desktop Manager options
Most frustrating is that I don't get any error messages, not even in the logs.
I am using Blackberry Torch 9810, OS 7.1 bundle 2061
When I set up the gmail account, it gives me an option to synchronize a calendar, which I don't use. But when I set up the btinternet account, I have no option to synchronize the calenar, only contacts and the option is greyed out (picture).

Can I install Snow Leopard and boot from software RAID 1 (mirror)?

I have a Mac Pro (quad core 2.66 GHz) on order for my office workstation. Yeah, I know new ones are probably coming out early next year but due to budget and upcoming projects I need one now. What I'd like to do is replace the pre-installed 640GB drive with two 1 TB drives and mirror them. The 640GB drive will be redeployed to another machine in the office. Can I boot from the Snow Leopard install DVD, go to Disk Utility, setup a RAID 1 with the two drives, install Snow Leopard to the mirror and then boot off the mirror set?
I've searched and found offhand comments to the effect that installing to and booting from a software mirror is OK, but I'd like to know for sure that it's OK. Any experience that you have with such a configuration would be nice to hear.

RAID is a method of combining multiple disk drives into a single entity in order to improve the overall performance and reliability of your system. The different options for combining the disks are referred to as RAID levels. There are several different levels of RAID available depending on the needs of your system. One of the options available to you is whether you should use a Hardware RAID solution or a Software RAID solution.
RAID Hardware is always a disk controller to which you can cable up the disk drives. RAID Software is a set of kernel modules coupled together with management utilities that implement RAID in Software and require no additional hardware.
Pros and cons
Software RAID is more flexible than Hardware RAID. Software RAID is also considerably less expensive. On the other hand, a Software RAID system requires more CPU cycles and power to run well than a comparable Hardware RAID System. Also, because Software RAID operates on a partition by partition basis where a number of individual disk partitions are grouped together as opposed to Hardware RAID systems which generally group together entire disk drives, Software RAID tends be slightly more complicated to run. This is because it has more available configurations and options. An added benefit to the slightly more expensive Hardware RAID solution is that many Hardware RAID systems incorporate features that are specialized for optimizing the performance of your system.

I need to make them crawl right to left across the baseline and then dissapear at the leading edge part way across (just preceding a logo about 8/10ths across the screen.)
Ideally ...dissapear behind a slightly feathered edge.
How would you do this?
BTW: I have done it in AEFX but was surprised that I stumbled on this simple thing in PPRO.

I will try your suggestions and I am very familiar with the Linear Wipe. I use it for
graphic line reveals a lot.
I did play with it a bit yesterday along with Track Mattes and Garbage Mattes.
Will have another play now. (not totally convinced I will add)
It was real easy to do in AEFX but I am taken aback by how hard it is to do in PPRO.
I am persevering for my own edification at his point and I do have a few of them to do for this project and upcoming ones.

Error message on searching for system updates and news feeds

I always get an error message when I attempt System Updates and when I attempt to subscribe to news feeds through the app that is pre-loaded on my phone. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've subscribed to the Reuter's Technology News on my Bionic so I can stay in the know on the latest and greatest rumors in the wireless world. Not only is it my job but I enjoy reading the speculation on the latest and upcoming devices. Needless to say I've had an experience that's similar to yours.
When I received a subscription error, I had to do a factory data reset on my new Droid Bionic in order to successfully subscribe to the News Feeds. Although I do recommend that you try this, let's save this step as a last resort. Please try to remove the battery while the device is powered on & re-insert then power the device on. Afterwards, verify that you have a good 3G/4G signal, anything more than 2 bars. If you are still experiencing access issues then the factory data reset would be the next step. Of course you will have to reactivate your device after the factory reset. Prior to completing the reset I recommend verifying that your contacts are backed up on either backup assistant or on your Gmail account. Also, your pictures, videos, and music will be saved on the memory card so this info is not in danger. After you have completed the steps above, please reply to this message as your experience may help others.

I think such things are good initiatives and I maintained a similar "box of tricks" once which I hardly ever use now, so I would also like to be honest with you...
You will need to put a lot more effort into your xls spreadsheet to start with before this framework and resource center (one of many!) will attract additional contributors to make it a central point of contact on the subject of SAP security. In fact this sounds like marketing jargon, and advertising is against the forum rules here on SDN.

In my opinion, anyone new in SAP Security should first take a training course and get hold of an IDES system to practice on.
I think you should take a thorough look at some of the other resources available already before deciding how to embark on this task.
You certainly wouldn't want it to be redundant and (release dependently) obsolete, and therefore incorrect even, by the time you finish it.
Your xls spreadsheet in it's current form does not look like a good strategy to me...

Screensaver for iCal and iPhoto? Want to create a central hub for family

I want to create a central hub for the family to view iCal (e.g., daily and upcoming events) and also iPhotos. Is there a screensaver program that will automatically show this stuff on a Mac desktop when not in use?

The only way to do that is to do the lined pages in other software (Word, pages, Pagemaker, etc) and print them to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 for more details - http://toadstutorials.info/
