  • Security Level set to High, Windows 7, Word 2010, Acrobat X Pro

I had Acrobat 9 Pro and could create PDF files from Word 2010 files by going directly into Acrobat.
Then, one day, I received an error msg: "Secruty Level set to High, please run the application which created this document ..."
I figured that MS has installed some sort of security update which prevented me from creating PFD files from Word 2010 files.
So I waited for Acrobat X to ship, which I just bought for $199 (on top of the $449 for Acrobat 9 Pro).
I just installed the new version of Acrobat X Pro, but I get the same error message.
    PLEASE HELP!!

Thanks, but the error msg is actually an Acrobat msg.
I called the Adobe Tech Support and spent an hour on the phone with the gentleman. We went through many configurations and I'm still trying to resolve this issue (I'll be reinstalling Acrobat X in a minute to see if our changes make a difference).
I believe the trouble lies in the fact that I'm on a 64-bit system, with an MS-issued security update. Hard to say exactly what the fiasco is all about just now.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Standard for Windows upgrade to Adobe Acrobat XI Pro for OS X

I have changed the platforms, from win to mac, and Adobe Acrobat is required for my work. I own Adobe Acrobat XI Standard for Windows and I was interested if I could change the platform to OS X, but unfortuantelly XI Standard is not available for mac. Also, I could not find a way on Adobe.com site to upgrade XI Standard to XI Pro and then change the platform.
    Please advise.

I believe Adobe have been known to deal with "crossgrades" before, but you would need to contact sales in person to deal with this.

  • Can't install Acrobat X Pro-- installation halts saying that I need Internet Explorer 7.0 or greater

Operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.
Acrobat 9 Pro is intalled and working.
I'm trying to install a trial version of Acrobat X Pro, but the installation stops early on with the error seen below in this screenshot. Any ideas?

    Acrobat 8 needs IE 6.0 not 4.0
    1) Try installing using MSI file instead of setup.exe.
    2) Enable MSI logging and provide the MSI log. Steps to enable MSI logging can be found here http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/223300
    3) What is the version of shdocvw.dll in "C:\Windows\System32" folder and in "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" (exists only on a 64 bit machine) folder.

  • "Capture 3D plug-in damaged" error upon start of Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Possible Fix

After installing Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0.332, I received a "capture 3d plug-in damaged" error every time the program started. Looking for remnants of SolidWorks in the registry found nothing.
Here's what fixed the problem for me:
I am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. The following two entries in the registry were incorrect, with the default correct values shown:
    //===============
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"="acaptuser32.dll"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls]
    "C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\acaptuser32.dll"=dword:00000002
    //===============
In the case of the first registry key, Kaspersky had previously entered several DLL's, separated by commas. When the Acrobat installer modified this key, it did not put a comma in front of "acaptuser32.dll", in effect making this dll invisible to Acrobat.
In the case of the second registry key, dword was found "1", I changed to "2".
It turns out that no repair of Acrobat was necessary, after all; just knowing where to look in the registry. No more error message on startup and the Capture3D tool works OK.
    I hope this helps others.

I have Windows 7.1 and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  9.4.3. I started receiving the error message, but once I corrected the registry keys it started working. I had previously used the Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  repair option three times with no success.
The correct entry for me was:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
    "AppInit_DLLs"="acaptuser64.dll"
I did not need to modify the following as it was already there:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDl ls]
    "C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\acaptuser64.dll"="dword:00000001
    thanks,
    Roger

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Distortion

I am using OS windows vista ultimate and Acrobat 9 Pro.
When I print my word document eveything prints fine.
However when I convert the same word document to a PDF the logo prints with a yellow background. (the logo is a jpg)
This is annoying as it really screws up my logo and makes the whole document look second rate!

    Hi All - Breaking news.
I Tried an experiment. The pictures and logo in question were all "Jpg's" I saved my logo as a "gif" and it does not now have the yellow background problem in either word or when I convert to a PDF.
    Can someone please advise me..
When I am making logo's or images and or photographs for print and the web, what is the best format to save them in. (please bear in mind that I am an enthusiastic amature.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Pro (Tools Bug)

The program will not allow me to apply the "arrow" design to any document. - Once drawn and released, it disappears. I have to draw one with the "contineous" line tool in order to make use of an arrow feature on every document.
Is there a fix for this Bug?

    Thanks for the advice.
The problem is not solved.  This is what i have tried.
    Attempt 1.
Log-in as Administrator via  "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
"Repair" Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installation.
    Same failure as described earlier.
    Attempt 2.
Log-in as Administrator via  "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
    Uninstall Acro XI Pro.
    Run :  acrobat_ittools_cleaner_p1_040612.zip
Log of "cleaner" shows deletion of very many, but ot all, Registry Acro-associated keys.
At end of uninstall and cleaner processes, re-start machine.
Log-in again as Administrator via  "CRTL-ALT-DEL" twice at the Welcome window.
Disable Norton 360 and Webroot Secure Anywhere prior to Acro XI Pro installation.
Re-install Acro XI Pro (this time, for "Default" choice, as opposed to "Complete" in previous installs.)
Outcome:  NO Adobe PDF printer.  HOWEVER, both during the "Repair" and re-install processes, a message did flash: "Creating the Adobe PDF Printer".
Both Repair and re-install:  The Adobe PDF printer is not listed under "Manufacturer" when "Add Printer" is executed (see image below).
Proceeding via "Have Disk", C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\AdobePDF.inf,  yields the failure to install the driver previously described, for all ten (10) instance of the Adobe PDF Converter options.
    Thanks for any insights.

  • Acrobat X Pro fails to start

    Windows XP SP3.
Acrobat X Pro 10.1.4.38 (part of CS6 Design Standard) fails to start.  When double-clicking the desktop shortcut, Acrobat.exe shows very briefly in the Task Manager, then disappears.
There is nothing showing in the Event logs that would indicate any problem with Acrobat.
Any ideas how to diagnose that problem, or suggestions how to proceed?
    Thank you in advance!

Went backwards through the forum topics until I found a similar post with this solution http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html
    Now Acrobat X launches correctly.

  • Acrobat X Pro patch failure

Windows 7, CS6 with Acrobat X Pro.  I tried to install the recommended patch 10.1.6.  Installation failed, saying htat some other patch had been applied (sorry I can't be more specific).  Problem is that the failure took out my PDF writer!

The latest update is 10.1.7. You did not indicate which version you now have (Help>About Acrobat), what is it. Did you try the update from the Help>Updates menu or some other way. Do not generally use some link sent to you by e-mail (that is a good way to get a virus if you are not sure it is legit). You should generally install updates in order from the version you have. If you just downloaded 10.1.6 and have 10.0.0, then it will fail. The updates are not generally cummulative, but have to be installed in order.
What do you mean by PDF writer? PDF writer was last distributed as an option with AA5 and has not been distributed since, so I have no clue what you mean, though I have seen some aspect of a PDF writer is other settings. The default process for creating PDFs is to print to the Adobe PDF printer. Does that still exist? What way are you trying to create PDFs?

  • I cannot open this PDF file in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a PDF file that I could open on my Windows XP 32-bit laptop in Acrobat 8 Pro or in Acrobat Reader.  I then upgraded to a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  But now in Win7-64, I cannot open this same file using the same apps (Acrobat 8 Pro & Acrobat Reader XI).
When I try to open it in Acrobat 8, it does not load and instead a popup windows appears saying -
    Adobe Updater
Some components needed to complete this operation are missing but information about them may be available on the Adobe website. Would you like to search the Adobe website for the missing components?
And I can choose either the OK or Quit buttons.  When I click OK, a web browser starts and goes to this website -
    http://www.adobe.com/special/adobe_update_manager/?type=Filter&name=FOPN_foweb&version=0.0 .0.0&lang=en_US&os=Windows&osver=6.1.7601&appid=acrobat8pro-en_US&cpu=intel
    This webpage says -
    Adobe Update Manager
Adobe cannot locate the requested plugin. New plugins will be listed on this page. Currently there are no plugins.
So now I am stuck, no direction to go.  I am left without any solution from Adobe for Acrobat on this file.
When I try to open this PDF file in Reader, it does not load and instead a web browser is spawned loading the webpage -
    http://plugin.fileopen.com/Default.aspx?bhcp=1
This is the FileOpen Plug-in for Adobe Acrobat/Reader, which prompts to -
Please click OK to download the FileOpen Plug-in Installer for Adobe Acrobat/Reader
I click on OK, download and run the Installer file, accept the terms, and installed the FileOpen Client (x64) B928.  Upon completion, it prompts to Finish.  But it does not automatically bring Reader up or try to load the file.  So I try again to load the PDF file into Reader.  But once again, the file does not load and the web browser is spawned loading the same FileOpen Plug-in Installer link.  I click OK again, and start the same FileOpen Client process.  This time, it recognizes that I have FileOpen Client installed, and the window gives me two choices, Repair or Remove.  So since I apparently need this Plug-in, I choose Repair.  The process seems to complete the Repair.  But when I try to load the file, it still brings me back to the FileOpen Plug-in webpage.  So now I am stuck again, and left without any solution from Adobe for Reader on this file.
I tried Adobe support.  But apparently Adobe does not support past releases of their products (Acrobat 8), and also does not give free support for the current version of their free products (Reader XI).
    Can this be fixed?

How is Acrobat 8 not fully Windows 7 compatible?  I see discussions on this Adobe Community saying how Acrobat 8 does work on Windows 7 and with 64-bit.  It appears that if Acrobat 8 is updated to the latest version, then this should fix AA8-Win7 issues.  And I am at the latest AA8 version, 8.3.1.
And how are Acrobat 8 and Reader XI are not compatible?  I have always had Acrobat and Reader installed on the same PC, without ever having any issues.  And Adobe allows the installation of one after the other.  So apparently Adobe allows them both to exist together.  If they are incompatible, then why would Adobe allow them to exist together?
Anyway, I did uninstall the FileOpen Plug-in and the Reader XI, then reinstalled the FileOpen Plug-in.  So now Reader is not installed and only Acrobat 8 is installed.  I then tried to load the PDF file, but I still get the Acrobat 8 error described above.

  • ACROBAT XI Pro -EDIT TOOL SET  - POP-UP WINDOW IS TOO LARGE

    Good Day -
I've been experiencing very nagging problem since installing recent Acrobat Xi Pro uodate (on windows 7 system):
Specifically - I cannot edit/change the TOOL SET to include needed TOOLS (i.e., that were all previously in my Tool set) as the EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (i.e., pop-up
window) is TOO LARGE and does not allow scrolling/ or moving down to SAVE  any tool sets and or tool set changes. Very frustrating as all attempts (and recommendations from reviews/support) for decreasing the size of EDIT TOOL SET WINDOW (popup) in order to save (i.e. include ANY) tools have been unsuccessful.  So for past week I've been unable to include/use any TOOLS for working in (i.e., editing/commenting etc) pdf's.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?  Would greatly appreciate any / all steps & recommendations for fixing.
    Thank-you!

First, make sure you are on the latest update 11.0.09. Help->check for updates should get you there.
If check for updates says that you have the latest, see if the setting: Edit->Settings->General->Basic Tools->Scale for screen resolution and try various options (you'll have to restart Acrobat with each selection)

  • Acrobat XI Pro installed on Windows 7 but won't start

I bought a stand-alone version of Acrobat XI Pro, and installed it on my Windows 7 computer. The first time I try to launch, I get a window asking me to verify the serial number. The DDL for product name doesn't list Acrobat XI Pro and it won't accept my serial number (even though I copy/pasted it from the order page on the adobe.com site). It says that the serial number is valid but that the product isn't on the machine. And yet, when I navigate to program files> Adobe > Acrobat, viola--there it is.
When I double-click the exe file, I get the message, "validating serial number", followed by "serial number is valid, but qualifying product could not be found..."
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, to no avail. And yes, I've also tried restarting after installing as well. I am, of course, on a deadline and really need this working...
    Help!

I'm pretty sure that I bought the full version, but will check.
The window wasn't asking for what version I upgraded from, but I can try that...and I hadn't installed the old version on this machine (new computer).

  • How do I fix the Database Organizer Error when using Acrobat 9 Pro on desktop PC with Windows 8.1 and 64-bit OS?

After loading Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop PC (Windows 8.1; 64-bit OS), opening and closing a previously saved pdf file, I constantly get a message pop-up that indicates a "database organizer" error.
    How do I fix this?
I have read multiple responses at various forums and they do not seem to apply, or have not worked for others, with regard to the details of my version of Acrobat and Windows OS.
I'm beginning to think that the only solution is to purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro and install it on my PC, which, of course, I would prefer not to do, unless this is my only viable option.
Can this problem, specific to my version of Acrobat and Windows OS, be fixed or is the simple answer:  purchase the latest version of Acrobat Pro, because there is no fix for my version of Acrobat/Windows OS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
