Windows 8.1 apps don't connect to Wi-Fi

I have a Windows 8.1 64-bit laptop and a few days ago i ran into an issue.None of my apps on the start screen connect to the internet even though the internet is connected and i'm able to browse the net.I'm not sure but i think this happened right after i uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security.I looked around and thought it's a firewall problem but nothing is blocked in the firewall.I tried restoring default settings in firewall and performing a System Restore.I even tried re-installing Kaspersky but that didn't work.I also tried installing third party firewall software like Comodo but that didn't help either.I ran scans with Kaspersky and Malwarebtytes but they didn't find anything.
I downloaded a microsoft troubleshooter and it said i needed to trust my PC and that apps and start screen sync was turned off.
But i can't change any sync setting since it says that OneDrive is not connected to the internet

I grasp that you have Windows 8.1 and a few days ago the start apps no longer connect to the internet.
You ran the troubleshooter and were informed that you need to trust my PC and that apps and start screen sync was turned off .
When you tried to change your sync settings you got the message not connected to OneDrive.
Here is a link to Sync settings between PCs with OneDrive, please note the section on Choose which settings to sync as it does list a troubleshooter that will try to automatically fix the syncing settings.
Here is another link from the www.eightforums.com that should assist you in overcoming this difficulty.
Sync Your Settings - Turn On or Off in Windows 8 You may need to turn the setting on and off a couple of times as that seemed to work for other people.
If this has not helped, I suggest you try a Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).
This will reinstall the OS but should not affect your personal files. I do suggest doing a backup first just in case.

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. hello. My classic applications (browsers, QuickTime) don't connect to the internet, although all extensions are loaded during classic startup, and tiger is connected to the net. Since I can't find anything on this in Mac Help, I'd be grateful for help on this.

how do you connect to the net . if its by DSL/cable go to the apple menu/control pannel/tcp/ip and select the builtin ethernet or ic could just say ethernet and select using DHCP server but before you do the above try this first go in to the system folder and go in to the prefrence folder and copy the tcp/ip pref file and the internet prefrence file to the desk top and then deleat the ones in the prefrence folder and reboot.

802.1x School WiFi- Certain apps don't connect at school?

Hey all.
So my school's got 802.1X WiFi, and you need to login with a username and password to use it. Apps like Safari, Facebook, Tweetie and Score Mobile all connect fine and all work. But, apps like WhatsApp Messenger, Ping!, Mail.app, and IM+ just stay at "connecting..." or whatever. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but all those apps use push notifications. Any idea on how to fix this?

Your school may be blocking the ports that those apps are trying to use. Check with the IT people at your school.

Windows Phone newsfeed app won't connect to on-prem server

I'm trying to use the SharePoint Newsfeed app on my shiny new Lumia 920, and no matter what URL I try, I get this:

I have tried https://server.domain.com,
https://server.domain.com/my,
https://server.domain.com/my/personal, and
https://server.domain.com/my/personal/username and none of those will connect. The frustrating thing is that the iPhone and iPad apps connect just fine using https://server.domain.com.
Kind of frustrated and search engines produced no help whatsoever, so if anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful, thanks.

Do you have a UAG (Unified Access Gateway) in you'r network? I haven't tried the Newsfeed app yet, but someone said on a User Group Meeting that you need a UAG to connect from the Windows Phone. From iOS and Android you could connect
without it.
I also found this article where it sayes:
"If your organization is using SharePoint Server 2013 the server must be configured with basic authentication in order to sign in to the app. Your system administrator can help you with this."

Three apps don't connect to the server.

After updating to ios 7, three applications do not connect to the server. I restored iphone 5, and then restored from backup. I have tried resetting the network settings, user and password reinserted Itunes Store, Runtastic, and customer service 3. These are the 3 apps that do not work. Do you know a solution?

It was not possible to solve the problem. So I restored iphone and downloaded the native apps. The data has been lost, except those saved to iCloud. IOS 7 working properly. Definitely a mistake in the rescue and directories backed up, that he could not connect to the server in those 3 applications.

After installing "Java for OS X 2013-004" update, Java apps don't work anymore as expected.
Windows of Swing apps don't display all GUI elements.
After replacing System/Library/Java from a Time MAchine Backup, everything works normal again.
Is this update corrupted?

The stand-alone Java Swing applications, that don't display their GUI elements after installing this update, have been written according to modern standards. With Oracle Java7, and with Java6 from Apple prior to this update, they run absolutely flawlessly.
This is absolutely Apple's fault.

What is it you need - Windows installer disc or something else? Your question is unclear. Could you be more specific?

Show Network connections Charm in windows 8.1 app

Is there any API (code) to display the network charm directly from windows 8.1 App ?
like the Networks display appear when we click on the network icon on bottom right corner in desktop mode.

WIndows 8.1 app tiles don't work since window update on 12/14/14

My computer with windows 8.1 went through several updates on 12/14/14 and now none of my window tiles will open and several are now missing. I tried to install them again, and it says go back to the app store and install them again. It doesn't work. I
tried. Any ideas? I've restarted the computer several times, still not working. Several tiles are there, but are blank now. Any help would be great. Thanks

Till now there is no report or same case about Windows 8.1 App issue caused by update 12/14/2014.
Since Windows 8 will need to be activated before the Store and apps will work. You will need to either be signed in to Windows 8 or the Store with a Microsoft account to be able to use an app that uses a Microsoft service. So please make sure your Windows
activation state is still activated and Sync your app license again by using following steps.
Step 1: On the Start screen, tap or click Store.
Step 2: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
Step 3: Tap or click App updates.
If you haven't signed in to the Windows Store, sign in using your Microsoft account.
Step 4: Tap or click Sync licenses.
If syncing the app license doesn't help, press
Win+R. Enter wsreset then click OK, In Windows 8.1 the store will simply open.
It resets the Windows Store without changing account settings or deleting installed apps
Then Check the following Registry Key by pressing
Win+R enter “regedit” click “OK”
( HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Packages)
Right click Packages select “permissions” and make sure
SYSTEM has all the following Rights checked:
Full control(allow)
Read(allow)
Special permission(allow)
If the issues persists, we recommended running Apps troubleshooter on your computer and see if it could find and fix this issue. You also could restore your system to a earlier point before 12/14/2014 or uninstall these
updates manually from control panel to see what happens. Then try update again.

KDE and kde apps don't started

Couple of days ago i had installed arch32 from arch64 using this how-to https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sw … i686_HOWTO, everything works fine except i needed to reinstall man-db & delete libreoffice configuration dir. Yesterday evening i installed kde, and kdm works just fine, but when starting kde the splash window reaches the first icon & crashesh. xinit/slim do that too, also apps wont start.

More than 50 MB sized applications are grayed out with status of "Waiting/Installing", when we update those apps from WiFi Connection?

Few application updates are available in iOS App store. However, Those applications are grayed out with status of "Waiting/Installing", when we update those apps from WiFi Connection. It's happening only for more than 50 MB sized applications. Unable to install those application through WiFi, However, it's successfully installed through MacBook Pro iTunes application. Please suggest me, why this happening suddenly.

Re-check your deployment, specially the user experience:
If you've checked the box next to "Software installation", it will install after the deadline has passed and ignores maintenance windows. Change the deployment to required and uncheck that box and the software should be installed according to your
maintenance windows.

When my instructor app shares, my connectivity status changes to poor and her voice becomes sporadic

I am training to be an at-home rep and learning on-line through AdobeConnect. Whenever the instructor app shares with the client's application (through secure VPN and Citrix) the connectivity status bar swings between poor to excellent and much of the time I lose her voice. The IT Support has not been able to figure out why -- my PC and technical requirements all meet their standards. I doubled my broadband speed, but that also didn't solve the problem. Any help would be appreciated. I will have to drop out of training if I can't get this fixed soon. Rosie

I am having the same problem as the person above. I have been working with my DSL provider for 2 weeks and have been unable to find anything that is causing the latency problems (although my DSL service has improved overall with the changes that were made). When I connect via my Verizon aircard, everything works great, but I will rapidly start getting charged for data overages in a week.
Because the aircard worked great, this led me to believe it was a problem with my DSL connection. I have done trace routes and there is no consistent issue with slower ping times or packet loss. Yes, I get the occasional 200-250ms ping times on one hop, but that is not unusual due to the reduced priority on ping traffic (ICMP, I think). Anyway, then I learned that routes are not always symetrical and that the return path may be different than the outgoing or request path. And the return path seems to be where the issue is.
How can I work with someone to troubleshoot my return path from adobeconnect.com? Can someone do a traceroute to 68.22.72.67? That is the hop just before my router.
FYI, here is what else I have done to try to narrow down the problem:
- use aircard and it works perfect, but that uses a different path which leads me to believe the path is the issue
- turn off all other devices connected to the router
- trace routes, endless ping tests, pathping, speedtest.net, pingtest.net, all tested good
- bridge tap was removed lessening my distance to the CO from 9000 ft to 8000 ft
- replaced corroded connectors
- reprovisioned line to the red back (ATT's term)
- changed pair from the CO
- attempted adobe connect sessions on multiple computers with both Windows 7 and XP
- instructor reduced connection speed from LAN to DSL and reduced frame rate at my request with no change
- she records the classes and the recordings are perfect except for the times when the class pauses.
The latency I am experiencing is when she shares a screen and then it can go as high as 8s, but mostly it is between 2 and 4s. That is enough to make the audio completely drop out or it is just uninteligible with the short bursts that come out.
Please help. If you can help identify where the problem is in the return path, I will attempt to take it from there. Scott
