Windows 8.1 bootcamp install fails at NVIDIA Driver Installer

I've been trying to install windows 8.1 natively w/ boot camp on my Macbook Pro Retina, 15", Mid-2012 8gb Ram 2.3GHz.
I had a few issues with partitioning and everything, but eventually got the point where the windows installer ran, allowed me to create my sign in, etc. Then it guided me through the quick boot camp installer for windows. Once this finished, a small window appeared stating to be the NVIDIA Driver Installer. This remained on the screen for a few moments, and then the screen went black and remained so permanantly. On a cold restart and reboot to the Windows drive, it starts right back up in to this black screen. I've already tried to clean install Windows 8.1 again, same problem.
Thanks for your help!

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you can use Wi-Fi before installing the Boot Camp drivers, I recommend you to install the most recent NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA website first > http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/73784
The Boot Camp installer installs an older version, so if you are having problems, it is better to install the most recent version, so the NVIDIA driver installation step will probably be skipped.

I just purchased the Mac Mini Server with the intention of replacing Lion Server with Lion for the first hard drive while installing Windows 7 thru Bootcamp on the second hard drive. Is it possible for me to do this? Thanks.

I would use Parallels or VMWare and use the second drive to hold the virtual machine. That way the VM only uses the space that it needs and you can still use the remainder of the drive for other things, not to mention that you would not need to reboot to run windows.
Also Time Machine does not back up a boot camp partition.

  • Bootcamp install failed

Just tried installing Windows XP through Bootcamp and the installation froze when I got the option to press enter to install Windows or Quit etc. I had to power down because the keyboard was not allowing me to input anything. When I restarted, I got a black screen with a message saying insert bootable disk. I restarted, holding down option and it then gave me an option to boot from my Mac system disk which I did and all seemed OK. I then decided to restore the Windows partition back to a single Mac partition and again, everything seemed OK and when I rebooted, it booted up as a Mac, however, today, I've just booted up and got the black screen asking for a bootable disk again!
I realize that my problem may have been that I tried installing from a full windows installer disk SP1 and the recommendations are SP2 minimum.
My problem is the black screen with 'insert bootable disk', why would I keep getting this message if I've destroyed the Windows partition?
    Many thanks

PS. I vowed never to install Windows on my Mac, but my PC laptop packed in!!!

    no problem!
I've been trying hard to squeeze windows onto my imac for the last week or so. What error did you get when you tried to boot into windows?
Back up everything and try it again if you want - follow the normal steps using bootcamp assistant.
When in the windows xp blue setup part - make sure you format the bootcamp drive NTFS (not quick). If you don't get that option let me know as I'm working on a guide for getting around that problem.
After you've formatted the drive and it still doesn't work - i'll get back to you with the finished guide.

  • Windows 7 in Bootcamp shuts down when flash drive is removed.

Removing usb flash drive shuts down Windows 7.
Today, on my MacPro , I was wanting to  transfer some data files from Boot Camp on Windows 7 so i formatted the usb flash drive for Windows and copied the files onto the drive.
I then clicked  on Computer and found the flash drive and right clicked  to bring up the menu and then clicked on Eject.
I didn't see the flash drive light up like it usually does on the Mac side but after waiting for 30 secs. or so I pulled out the drive.
As soon as I pulled it out Windows 7 began to shut down.
I tried it one more time to see if it would repeat itself and it did the same thing again.
I don't have a clue why it should be doing this so I  would appreciate any suggestions you might have that will explain it.
    Thanks

I Just figured it out!  I Have a Mac Mini 2012 with 2  Kingston 128 GB SSDs.  I thought it was having 2 internal drives that was making problems... Had exact same issue as all of you.   First I would get a no NTFS partition error after I used Boot Camp Assistant to make a USB install stick for Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
My solution was simple, removing EVERYTHING connected to my mac mini, including my Wireless mouse and Keyboard. All I had connected was my Apple wired keyboard, the install USB drive, and my monitor. Having a Second internal SSD drive was not the issue.
I formatted the BootCamp partition, and POW! it actually worked.  The error that  setup couldnt install on this drive, and see error log didnt show up!  Try that! it might work!

  • CC install failed: Errors encountered during installation(7).

my install failed after I was unsuccessful in updating AI and PS through CC. Atfer researching, I read that uninstalling then re-installing would be a fix. Now I cannot get AI to reinstall. Any suggestions?

did that with the log and found the errors: ERROR: Failed to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86). Please try installing it....  I tried that and an error from that stated a newer version was all ready installed. So I uninstalled what I had and installed straignt from Microsoft as stated in the error instructions. Open CC back up and again 42% and failed with same message.   ??

  • Bootcamp Install Fails - Does not Reboot

    Hi,
When installing windows7 64bit via usb using bootcamp, it is successful at partitioning, but does not reboot when necessary.  No message is displayed indicating that bootcamp failed.  When I manually restart the OS, it simply restarts in OSX.  Why am I having this problem? And how can I manually force it to resume?
    Thanks,
    Domenic

I should also mention, I have a 3rd hard disk with Windows XP installed (all of these are internal in the MACPRO). The same thing is now happening there as I have just checked. The Bootcamp control panel does not instigate to boot into Mac OS X either. So how can I get this control panel to write to the EFI (if this is what it is called?) to boot into the correct selected partitions? I should also mention I can see the Windows 7 and the The Windows XP respectively displayed in there. But I cannot get to boot into either of those either by selecting them from this control panel. It is stuck booting into it's own OS disregarding my selection. I don't think it is 'talking' to the EFI anymore and writing what it should to it (or to bootmgr or something)? What can I do in this case?
What does bootcamp.exe actually do? If I could delete the current list it has stored and get it to rescan even though everything is exactly the same, just reinstalled Mac OS X by erasing the partition on the main drive, which I'm guessing this is why Bootcamp.exe does not write the appropriate command to boot into my OSes?

  • Hp officejet pro l7590 windows 7 32-bit install fails

I have downloaded the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver for windows 7 (32-bit) for my Officejet Pro L7590 connected by USB cable to my computer.  I right-click on the downloaded software and select "Run as Administrator".  The installation hangs at step 7 of 8 and then shows me that the L7590 printer driver failed to install.  When I look in my "Printers And Devices" I see the HP L7590, but right-clicking on it only shows scanner functions (no printer options). And no option to remove printer.
I have tried uninstalling the HP Software and reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver as well I have tried installing the HP Officejet Pro Basic Print and Scan Driver from HP, all with the same failed results.
The only way I am able to use the printer is to uninstall all HP software and simply plug the USB cable to my computer.  Then a printer driver is loaded and I can print.  The problem is that I do not get the "Solution Center" functionality which I need for scanning.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Lou

Just so we get off on the right foot, I am going to have you run through the un-instillation and re-installation of the printer again, but in a thorough and managed way. I would like to ask for information's sake if the PC you are using is a HP computer or another manufacturer. This may be useful in future steps if they are necessary. We will want to remove the PnP drivers (the ones that automatically loaded) as well.
First if you use a USB cord, make sure to remove it. Do not plug it back in until the software directs you to. Then go through the Devices and Printers, Programs and Features and Device Manager folders and insure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. Then as directed, restart the computer.
In the START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here I want you to press Ctrl+A and hit DELETE. Some of the files will not allow you to delete them, skip those files and delete the majority that allows it.
Then follow this link to download the full feature software and drivers for the printer:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3643...
Install that and let me know the result!
    Have a great day!

  • Windows 2008 R2 ADCS install fails

    Hello,
I am trying to install a Standalone Root CA on a Windows 2008 R2 machine.  Each time I try to install the role it says installed with errors.  The error is 0x80070422, I am only trying to install the CA and CA Web Enrollment roles.
I can get the CA to install without errors, but when I try to install the CA Web Enrollment role is when it fails.  I have also tried to install the online responder by itself and it too failed with the 0x80070422 error.  I have tried sfc /scannow
and chkdsk /r /f with no issues.  I removed the anti-virus software and malware software to try and get this installed with no luck.  Checking the logs the only error that pops when these roles are installed is the VSS, and right after there is a
VSS entry in the logs saying that the VSS is working, there are also VSS entries prior to this that show it is working.    Anyone have a clue as to how to get this installed?

  • Win7 Pro x64 bootcamp install fail

I have created a partition using the Bootcamp assistant. (I had problems creating this at first but repaired the permissions and the disk in disk Utility and the partition created fine).
I'm trying to install Windows 7 Pro x64 (from MSDNAA) to my newly created Bootcamp partition (65Gb). The install runs fine until after the restart at the point where the on-screen dialog is "Completing Install". At this stage after a few minutes the laptop freezes and the install never finishes. I have to then hold the power button to gain control of the laptop again and start the process from scratch. I have tried two different CDs of the same OS and the process around 6 times with no luck. I have also tried removing the Windows CD after the first restart has stated on another forum.
Thanks I hope someone out there knows a fix.

Thanks the Hatter but this didnt work unfortunately, i burnt a new copy at lowest possible speed 4x. I cant find any recent information about it. Any more ideas? This is the 64bit version as i want to use all the RAM
    Much appreciated

  • HT5628 Can I still install Windows 7 via bootcamp without OSX Mount. Lion installation DVD

I've already got Windows 7 disc.

Yes. The Boot Camp Assistant can put the drivers onto a DVD or external drive; this is actually the only way to do it, as there are no Mac OS X 10.8 DVDs.

  • Windows 7 and Nvidia driver installation time-out

Hey everyone... I'm having issues installing my drivers...
I've overclocked the 9600 GPU in my 15" unibody quite some time back in windows vista. The thing is, after moving to windows 7, the official drivers from nvidia dont seem to install right. The hang for about 5 to 10 minutes and eventually finish, without completely installing the drivers.
I've tried manual installations only to receive a "operation timed-out" reply from the windows driver update dialogue. Is there anything anyone can help me out with? Anyone going through the same **?
I don't want to use drivers from "laptopvideo2go" however... they seem to install correctly but there's something about them that bugs me...
    Thanks in advance!

  • Windows Experience Index lowers score after updating Nvidia driver?

Before updating driver, I had a score of 5.1
I installed the latest driver from Lenovo website, refresh the score, now it shows only 5.0???
I am running on Windows 7 Pro (x64)
    Nvidia NVS 3100M
    Driver date: 19 April 2011
    Driver version: 8.17.12.6721
    Driver source: Lenovo
    Any idea what it mean?
    Best

It does indeed fluctuate. A difference of 0.1 can probably be attributed to random error.

  • GT70 0ND-204US Windows 7 removed and recovery fails due to drive reformat

    Model Number:GT70 0ND-204US
    Hello,
I was attempting to install Unbuntu from a LiveCD to an external hard drive and I believe during that process I accidentally reformatted the SSD to be an ext4 partition and swap space.  When I rebooted to try to get into windows I got an error that said, "Bootmgr is missing" and when I tried to enter recovery mode I got as far as seeing a Windows 7 like user interface but then I was shown the error (paraphrasing here), "The installation drive must be named OS_install please try again."
I'm typing this using the LiveCD on the undermentioned  computer and can use any tools available in Unbuntu if further diagnostic information is needed.
    Cheers!
Also I would like to thank anyone in advance for their help and even if you're just reading this I appreciate the time you have given.
