  • Clean install of Windows 7 Pro or Enterprise creates update issues on Pavilion G6 notebooks

    Hello,
Our small company has 5 older HP Pavilion g6 notebooks running Window 7 Home edition.  We wanted to make them, and a few other Acer laptops, part of our domain.  So, we did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro (you can't upgrade with a volume license key).  After the install, the HP laptops have windows update issues and currupt installs.  The Acer laptops installed with no issues.   I've tried installing the Enterprise version with the same results.  I tried installing from dvd and usb, both with the same results.  Any idea?
    Thank You

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. It seems to be kinda stable now.  Updates would never work from the getgo.  I had to reinstall update agent a few times and run the update troubleshooter found here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/windows-update-issues/en-us  Until I got it working, I used Autopatcher to install updates. However, the computer isn't stable enough though to allow someone to use it for work.  I don't recommend doing a clean install on these machines.

  • I have no idea why my pc (which runs windows 7) got corrupted when I plugged in my iPad into it., I have no idea why my pc (which runs windows 7) got currupted when I plugged in my iPad into it.

2 days back my pc got corrupted when I plugged my iPad 3 into it.
Can anyone tell me why this happened. The iPad is not jail broken and my windows is original.

I highly doubt its the Ipad that corrupted your PC. What do you mean by corrupt? Whats it doing?

  • Some video appears currupted in windows 7 and cant be played!!.

Hello, I was watching videos on my laptop normally but suddenly most videos appeared corrupted and won't open, I cant play them any more. I've formatted my computer but sadly they are still corrupted please help me what the hell happened to those files????I've
tried an anti-malware software but it didn't found anything...

So when you play them after exporting in QT and do get info what are the codecs and bitrates?
If you want to have life easier use MPEG Streamclip, open, select export to MPEG-4 and pick a preset from the iTunes button and you will be happy. And it also does batches and you may find it is also faster.
    And it is free.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit - Not syncing media

I'm migrating myself from an HP laptop that will sync my Centro contact/addresses/media etc.  The HP runs XP Pro.  I'm moving to a Sony which runs  Windows Vista Home.  And I am able to sync most everything but the media.  None of my pictures/video or any media will transfer from my phone to my laptop.  I've read about currupt media and since it transfers to my HP, I'm thinking I'm good.  I currently have my /media/ to overwrite from my phone to my pc.  I'm wondering what I am missing.

  • Did windows vista kill my ipod?

I recently bought a new computer with windows vista (which I hate, should have gone with the mac). my ipod has been working fine for a very long time now. when I downloaded the newest version of itunes to my new computer and tried to sync my ipod, the ipod froze up and I havnt been able to get the thing working since. I have rebooted, restored, and everything countless times. I decided to go back to my old computer becasue I never had problems with the ipod in the past. I tried all the same things with my old computer numerous times and still nothing. the ipod is on but completly frozen and everytime I reboot or restore the same outcome. the only time that my ipod is not frozen is when it is in diskmode and I have tried rebooting reinstalling numerous times from this mode and still nothing. I realize that there is a new article on the mac website saying that windows vista can currupt your ipod, but this was put on the website after I had apparently killed my ipod. I miss my ipod, can anyone help me????

I have had the same problem- I recently bought a new Windows Vista laptop and plugged in a new Ipod cLASSIC (80gb). It charged up fine and seemed to working, but when I tried to transfer songs onto it and ejected it from the computer, the Ipod just died. It will not turn off or on, cannot be reset and will not charge either on the computer (I've tried it on various computers)or via the mains charger I have. I took it back to the shop, assuming it was a dodgy Ipod and they replaced it. I am now on my 4th new Ipod and the same thing has happened to all of them (each time I plug them in they just stop working). The guys in the Apple Shop (where I took my laptop and Ipod to checked out) can't work out what is going wrong but seem to think it is my laptop. They did not mention anything about Windows Vista not being compatible with Ipods, so I'm not sure what to do for the best. I am currently using my old laptop wich is Windows XP but am considering investing in a new Apple Mac laptop!!

  • Windows doesn't recognize my ipod

I have the 30gb video ipod and when i was playing a game it froze. So I connected it to my computer and itunes loaded up and it said my ipod was currupt and i should reinstall the software. So I did and it started to when my computer froze (which has only happened once before). So i turned off my computer and restarted it, but then it wouldn't recognize my ipod and i can't get itunes to find the ipod so i can't update the software. And windows keeps on saying no drivers are found on the ipod so i can't really do anything with my ipod.
Does anyone have any idea how to get my ipod to be recognized by itunes and/or windows?

I brought it into the store and they were able to restore itfor me.

  • Is there an easy way to install Windows 7

I'm using Bootcamp and already have Windows XP install as a second OS. I've pre-ordered Windows 7 several months ago and now I have it in hand and would like to replace Windows XP on my iMac.
Though I may not use Windows 7 very much (I'm very pleased with my Apple OS), I would still like to install it.
Is there an easy way to erase the partition that has Windows XP and install Windows 7 instead? How can I do this without touching the Apple OS in fear that I might currupt it in some way?
    Thanking you all in advance,
    Chippathingy

You should considering using VMware Fusion, Parallels Desktop, or Sun's VirtualBox (which is free). Then, you won't have to dedicate a whole partition to Windows. And Windows will be running alongside Mac OS X, so on those less frequent occasions when you need to use a Windows program, you will not need to restart. Plus you can import your existing Windows XP installation as a virtual machine (I don't know if VirtualBox has an import feature), and have a separate virtual machine for running Windows 7, again with no separate partition; you can even have a virtual machine with one of the Linux'es.

  • "Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer your files and settings." Why?

I saved my files and settings from a previous installation of windows 7 to an external hard drive using windows easy transfer. Now when I try to transfer those files and setting to my new installation I get the following message:
Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer your files and settings.
The message pops up only a few seconds after the transfer begins.
Why is this?! I need those files and windows has screwed me. Everything is basically the same as before I reinstalled. Same computer, same windows 7 installation just recovered to factory settings. Same system language as before. BTW I'm on a Toshiba L505 laptop
    running Windows 7 Home Premium.
I have tried all the usual suspects such as a clean boot and uninstalling my antivirus to rule out third party interference. I have more than enough space on both my computer and on the external hard drive. I have tried only transferring a user account a
few MBs large. I have reinstalled the OS twice just in case something went wrong there. I have clicked on the .MIG file directly. All lead to the same error message. The transfer file seems to be intact and not currupt
Is there another software other than WET that can use the same transfer file that WET created to restore my files? Please help me solve this if you can or at least point me in the right direction because right now I'm clueless. I can't emphasize how important
those files are to me. I've searched for solutions on several forums and it seems that this is a problem people have been having for years now and windows hasn't provided an answer yet.
An interesting note, When I reboot the laptop after trying to do the transfer, a new user account appears at startup alongside the one I normally use. This new user account has the same unique name of the user account I am trying to restore but that's where
the similarity ends. All the settings for this account are default settings and empty folders. What does this mean?

Hi Vincent, like I said I tried all of that already and it failed. Thanks a lot for trying to help though. Imperfect1, so sorry I took so long to reply. No that's not the case. I was trying to restore from x86 to x86.
Well, I finally gave up. I've scoured the internet for a solution. You'll probably find duplicates of this post all over. This has been a known software problem with Windows Easy Transfer for years and Microsoft has done nothing to fix it or warn users of
    the risks. Shameful!
Anyway, I managed to recover my files with this life saver of a program here>

MigRecover Utility for Microsoft's Windows Easy Transfer.
I can't express how grateful I am to the developer and the host for the download. You guys are the most awesomest people ever. Cheers.
Here's how you modify the syntax in commmand prompt if you used a password to protect the mig file in WET>

Just remember to change the source drive letter in "C:\SaveData.MIG" to the actual drive it's stored on if your MIG file is on an external drive like mine was; whether it's E:, F:, G: or whatever.
Good luck to anyone with the same issue who stumbles upon this post. I hope it helps you as it did me.

  • Fingerprint isn't recognized for Windows logon

I just recently purchased an HP Pavilion DV6-6c10us.  When I first started it up, I went through the standard set-up stuff and entered the fingerprint data needed by Simplepass (2012). Everything seemed to work like it was supposed to.  I was able to just swipe my fingerprint to log on to Windows at startup.  A couple days ago, possibly after either a Windows or HP update, when I start Windows, and try to swipe a finger a windows security message comes up and reads, "Your fingerprints have not been enrolled for authentication."  I click OK and just use my password to log on to Windows.  Once I get into windows the fingerprint scanner works fine.
I've checked for any updates for SimplePass, and there aren't any.
In the Control Panel, Biometric Devices area, when I click on "Stop using your fingerprint to log on to Windows", the next window opens and reads, "You have no fingerprint data or logon credentials to remove."
How do I get windows to allow me to enroll a fingerprint to log on to windows?
    Please help!

    Hi,
Not sure why, but the data is not present means its either deleted or currupt. you may need to register the fingerprint reader to logon to windows one more time.
it may not be the one you expected or like to hear. but i think its the easiest and best possible solution on this.
