Windows 8.1 client cannot delete shared server files.

We have one office that has a Windows 8.1 client on the network that cannot delete files in a shared folder on their server.
  The folder is a catch all folder for the copier to scan to and contains all the PDF files it creates.  When the one user tries to delete any of the PDF files they get an error saying the file is in use.  We have tested by deleting files from
the server and also from other workstations.
  We have rebooted the computer and also tried to resolve it by specifically giving the user full rights to the folder, but the problem remains persistent.

Hi,
There are several possible reasons for your situation, you might don’t have a permission of this folder, the folder is in use, a corrupted file is in current folder.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/cant-delete-file-folder#1TC=windows-7  (Also applies for Windows 8.1)
First, I suggest to log on the computer with an administrator account to delete the folder and disconnect the network connection if possible, second, Run your computer in safe mode to delete the folder or files, to run computer in safe mode:
Restart your computer, meanwhile press F8 until you see the safe mode screen.
Hit enter at safe mode, log on the system as an administrator.
Find the folder or file you want delete.

  • HT1923 I'm trying to uninstall and re-install iTunes on a Windows 7 pc. Cannot delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ as a files is being used. Any suggestyions?

    I have tried to remove the Apple file but ShellStreams64.dll is being used by explorer.exe. Obviously if i stop explorer I'm unable to acces the files. Is there a war round this?

    I was having trouble with this myself, but I figured it out.
    Click the start button and search for "cmd". Right click on it and "Run as administrator".
    A DOS black screen will pop up, type "cd\" at the command prompt and press enter.
    Open up "start task manager"
    Click on the "processes" tab, and search for "explorer.exe". Right click on it and choose "end process".  You should see your windows disappear.
    Then type the filepath name of the file that you want to delete, for me it was "cd\ program files\common files\apple\internet services" at the command prompt in the DOS window.  Press enter.
    Then type "del shellstreams64.dll", the file should be deleted by now.
    Restart "explorer.exe" by using the start task manager.  Click on File and then "New Task (Run)".  Type in  "explorer.exe" in the box and click OK.
    Hope this helps you out.

    Hello,
    Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
    '''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
    #Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    #After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    #Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    #*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    #*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
    #Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    ##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    ##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
    Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    We are following Note 238276.1 Migrating to Linux with Oracle Applications Release 11i, trying to install the technology stack (Section 2: Step 4), in a RHEL5 64Bits.

    It seems that linux-gate.so.1 is not present, I'll try to install it, but I'm not sure this can be the real problem.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!
    Alvaro

    Yes, thats correct ...
    The actual situation is:
    -Customer has split configuration: DB 11g in RHEL5x86-64Bits + APPS 11.5.10.2 in Windows2003
    -The target is to have all DB11g and APPS R12 in single node RHEL5x86-64Bits
    We're following Note "Migrating to Linux with Oracle Applications Release 11i [ID 238276.1]" to migrate the APPS server from Windows to Linux, as a middle/temporary step prior to make the Migration to R12.
    We are trying to do it, but we get errors during Section 2.4 "Install the Middle Tier Technology Stack", running the rapidwiz command we get errors, because of R11i is not supported in 64bits platforms (Oracle Applications Installation Update Notes, Release 11i (11.5.10.2) [ID 316806.1])
    Our bigest doubt now is that we are trying to install 11i techstack into RHEL5 x86-64bits, and we think this is not possible, because of R11i is not supported in 64bits platforms !!!
    That is, could we migrate the APPS server from Windows to Linux x86-64 as a temporary step to begin the upgrate to R12 all in RHEL5x86-84bits, that is full supported on this 64bit platform?
    What possibilities do we have if we can't do this?
    Theese can be some of them:
    1-Migrate apps server from actual windows2003 to Linux 32bit, in other host with 32 bits installed, instead of 64bits, and move here from windows to lilnux 32bits, and the begin the R12migration
    2-Migrate to R12 into actual appserver Windows2003 and then migrate appserver from windows to rhel5-64bits
    I don't like second option, because we want to make the R12 upgrade into Linux, not in windows. We need to eliminate windows platform as soon as we can.
    Thanks in advance ,

  • Libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file

    Running Redhat EL5.5 with php5.3.13
    Installed Oracle instant client basic, sqlplus, and devel 11.2.0.3.0-1
    edited .bashrc to include
    export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib
    export TNS_ADMIN=/usr/include/oracle/11.2
    pecl install oci8
    restarted
    PHP Warning:  PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/oci8.so' - libclntsh.so.10.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0
    Why is it looking for libclntsh.so.10.1?
    php -i
    ENV["LDLIBRARY_PATH"] => /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib
    _ENV["TNS_ADMIN"] => /usr/include/oracle/11.2
    _ENV["ORACLE_HOME"] => /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client
    I checked ld.so.conf and ld.so.conf.d and nothing mentions oracle at all.
    sqlplus works just fine so the oracle install appears good, just not loading in php right.

    By restart I meant the whole server so that the environmental variables are set in .bashrc, etc.
    from phpinfo() Apache Environment includes:
    TNS_ADMIN     /usr/include/oracle/11.2
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH     /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib
    PHP variables include:
    SERVER["TNSADMIN"]     /usr/include/oracle/11.2
    _SERVER["LD_LIBRARY_PATH"]     /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib
    So it doesn't look like I need to explicitly state them again in /etc/sysconfig/httpd
    Why is it looking for liblntsh.so.10.1 instead of the installed 11.1 in /usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib?

  • Ubuntu - libocijdbc11.so: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file.

    ERROR-No ocijdbc11 in java.library.path - Vendor code 0 >>Can you help?
    Connect fails w/ ocijdbc11.dll not found
    As I understand, the general advice was that you needed to set your ORACLE_HOME variable, which I did in the shell script that starts sql developer:
    sqldeveloper.sh
    #!/bin/bash
    ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/instantclient/
    export ORACLE_HOME
    The file which it had been complaining about is in that folder, and it seems to find it, but now I get an error "libocijdbc11.so: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file."
    Where can I get this libaio.so file?
    Or am I going about this wrong?
    (I have seen other people talking about a file ".tnsnames.ora". Not clear to me how that is related, but I don't have that file. http://mikesmithers.wordpress.com/2010/01/03/solved-%E2%80%93-the-mystery-of-sqldeveloper-and-the-missing-ocijdbc11/)

    I'm on Windows, but do mind you need a 11.2 client as home. Alternatively try setting the home to your sqldev installation folder.
    Hope that helps,
    K.

    Greetings,
    So today I decided I'd play an old windows game with my son. It's been a while since I've played  wine game with him... since my last reinstallthat I did just for the S&G to play with the new install method.
    Anyways, I go through the motions, installing wine and all that. Then I go and click on the game to run. Nothing.
    So, I go and try to run it through command line. I get this fun stuff:

    Honestly, I did not know about pkgfile.
    So, I installed it and determined that while I have libsm, I was missing lib32_libsm. So installing that fixed my issue with WINE.
    Thanks for the leg up Trilby! Most appreciated!

  • ARTADM: libcobrts64.so : cannot open shared object file

    While doing the Tuxedo server startup i am getting error message:
    ARTADM: error while loading shared libraries: libcobrts64.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
    Getting the same error message for ARTCNX, ARTSTRN.
    I did verify one of the forum where its mentioned that MF Cobol Server Express need to be present on the linux, which i don't have. However, as per the Tuxedo documentation i have installed Cobol-IT compiler which is also compatible with the Tuxedo. Your inputs would be great help to resolve the issue.

    Please verify your installation as following,
    After installing ART Runtime with Cobol-IT option,
    1) In the ART installation directory you should see directory Cics_RT_CIT and symbolic link Cics_RT pointing to this directory, i.e.
    ls -l /testarea/xcao/art11gR1/Cics_RT
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 xcao units 35 Apr 27 11:04 /testarea/xcao/art11gR1/Cics_RT -> /testarea/xcao/art11gR1/Cics_RT_CIT
    2) All servers should depend on Cobol-IT libraries, e.g.
    ldd /testarea/xcao/art11gR1/Cics_RT/bin/ARTSTRN |grep cob
    libcobit.so.4 => /opt/cobol-it-64/lib/libcobit.so.4 (0x00002b0965f28000)
    libvbisam.so.3 => /opt/cobol-it-64/lib/libvbisam.so.3 (0x00002b096609b000)
    libiconv.so.2 => /opt/cobol-it-64/lib/libiconv.so.2 (0x00002b09661b3000)
    libgmp.so.10 => /opt/cobol-it-64/lib/libgmp.so.10 (0x00002b09663bc000)
    libcitextfh.so.4 => /opt/cobol-it-64/lib/libcitextfh.so.4 (0x00002b0966527000)
    libcobatmis.so => /testarea/xcao/tuxedo11gR1/lib/libcobatmis.so (0x00002b096abfc000)
    In addition, as Mark said, Cobol-IT Enterprise Edition 2.7 or later is required, Cobol-IT Standard Edition is not enough for ART.

  • Libsqlplus.so: cannot open shared object file

    After oracle-instantclient-sqlplus-10.1.0.3-1 rpm install on Red Hat, running sql plus gives:
    sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libsqlplus.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    The fix is to include in the sqlplus rpm the file
    /etc/ld.so.conf.d/oracle-instantclient.conf
    which would contain this line:
    /usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.3/client/lib/
    Also run ldconfig in post-install script.
    Thanks.

    Alternatively you can set LD_LIBRARY_PATH as mentioned
    in the notes:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/docs/tech/sql_plus/10103/readme_ic.htm
    This is more flexibile than using ld.so.conf if you have
    another version of Oracle or the Instant Client installed.

  • Libjvm.so: cannot open shared object file

    Hi, I hope I am posting to right forums. I am trying to install tomcat on my linux box and running into an issue ?libjvm.so: cannot open shared object file: Permission denied?
    Here is what I have:
    Linux = Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike)
    SDK = java_app_platform_sdk-5_02-linux.bin
    Tomcat = apache-tomcat-6.0.10
    I built jsvc this morning and running following command to get tomcat daemon up,
    ./bin/jsvc -cp ./bin/bootstrap.jar -outfile ./logs/catalina.out -errfile ./logs/catalina.err org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap
    I am seeing following error message in Catalina.err file,
    06/03/2007 10:49:24 21247 jsvc.exec error: Cannot dynamically link to /home/rsah/SDK/jdk/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so

    06/03/2007 10:49:24 21246 jsvc.exec error: Service exit with a return value of 1
    I looked at the permission for libjvm.so and it appears to be fine. When I run ldconfig ?p I don?t see libjvm.so loaded so definitely there is something going on. I edited /etc/ld.so.conf and added following line
    /home/rsah/SDK/jdk/jre/lib
    But still I don?t see libjvm.so being loaded. I am wondering if one could provide me some pointers.
    libjvm.so located at,
    /home/rsah/SDK/jdk/jre/lib/i386/client
    -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 5310375 Mar 5 18:20 libjvm.so
    I have set JAVA_HOME = ?/home/rsah/SDK/jdk?
    PS: I tried all above stuffs with sudo permission.
    Thanks!

    I found problem, it was in a configuration file located at bin/jsvc-src/native//Tomcat.sh.

  • Libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot load shared object file:

    Greetings,
    I've just downloaded and installed Pervasive's jdbc driver and j2re-1_4_0-fcs-linux-i386.rpm, but when I try to run java:
    [admin@samba-two admin]$ /usr/java/j2re1.4.0/bin/java
    Error: failed /usr/java/j2re1.4.0/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so, because libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2: cannot load shared object file: No such file or directory
    How can I fix this?

    Just had this problem in Mandrake 9.0 with jsdk1.4.1, Same as RedHat 8.0 and 7.x.
    On the RPMS section of Disc 1 (I imagine the same for Red Hat) look for the RPM libstdc++2.x.y.rpm (I am not sure what xyz are, the 2 is the key) The other libstdc++5.x.y.z.rpm's are already installed.
    Install this RPM and it installs the proper libraries. (as root)
    rpm -iv libstdc++2.x.y.rpm In fact Forte4 doesn't even even boot as it uses this lib for the splash screen.
    Netscape 7 also needs this library.

  • JRE 1.4.0 on RedHat7.1. - error... failed... cannot load shared object file

    I just installed JRE 1.4, but it doesn't work:
    failed /usr/java/j2re1.4.0/lib/i386/client/libjvm.co, because libstdc++-libc6.1.1.so.2: cannot load shared object file: no such file or directory
    When i check:
    ls /lib/libc-*
    /lib/libc/libc-2.2.2.so
    What files should I install to get it work?
    Thank you.

    The best way to explain this problem is JRE 1.4.0 is execting an old shared object for libstdc which had been updated in Redhat 7.2. Since, the functionality in libstdc should still exist in the newer version of libstc I simply made a symbolic link pointing to the current version of libstdc to satisfy JRE 1.4.0.
    ln -s /usr/lib/libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so /usr/lib/libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2Hope this helps.
