Windows 8.1 crashes after an extern virtual switch is added

Hello, to get connected from a virtual machine in hyper v I must add an external virtual Switch.
If I do so, after 2 or 3 minutes I get a blue Screen with the message:
Unexpected_kernel_mode_trap.
I have changed the Driver for the Network Card from Intel drive (Intel pro Network Card) to the drive of Microsoft for this Network Card.
I have made 3 Trials with different Drivers for the Network Card.
But allways after some minutes I get the blue Screen mit the message:  Unexpected_kernel_mode_trap.
In any case I have to restore the System from a backup, because it is demaged.
Thank you for any help.

  • Cannot create Hyper-V external virtual switch Server 2012 R2

    Hi,
I am unable to create an external virtual switch on server 2012 R2.  I have two Broadcom NICS bridged on a DC fully functional now.  I can install Hyper-V but the option is grayed out to create an external switch.  I try binding it to the
network bridge, connecting my two NICS and it makes no difference.
Am I correct in assuming that I cannot use Hyper-V on this server if the two NICS are bridged?

  • Presenter 8 crashes after connecting external Firewire cam

    Good day,
We often organize workshops and conferences which I sometimes record with an external camera for later reference by our own staff or to make them available to clients who couldn't attend the presentations.
For a long time I was looking for a tool to synchronise PowerPoint slides with spoken recorded comment (audio/video), since I don't believe in just making slides available to people who couldn't attend the presentation, without the spoken comments of the speaker.
I also believe in slides with as less text as possible, but more with images, schemes and animations to support the speaker's message. But in such a case, the spoken comment is an essential part of the presentation to get the message, since the slides as-such alone don't tell enough.
I installed the trial version of Adobe Presenter 8 to test its suitability for our company marketing and presentation needs.
Adobe Presenter 8 seems to work perfect to synchronise Powerpoint slides and screen actions, together with video recorded by an external webcam, connected via USB to my notebook or via the internal webcam in my notebook.
However, I also want to record presentations, presented in our auditorium and meeting rooms and I want to synchronise in realtime (= during the actual presentation) the Powerpoint slides together with the video/audio from the speaker.  The realtime option avoids the work of recording the speaker on tape or in an MPG or FLV during the actual presentation, uploading the A/V file to my PC and doing the PowerPoint/audio/video synchronisation work afterwards by going through the whole presentation again.
To record the video I therefore use an external semi-pro videocamera (JVC DV-500), since this gives me better possibilities to frame the right image, zoom in/out, better lens, etc ...  in comparison with an ordinary webcam.  The JVC DV-500 can be connected to a computer via a Firewire I/F.
This always worked perfect when we recorded and streamed video/audio using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3.2.  Adobe Flash Encoder recognizes the via FireWire connected external cam without a problem.
But, when using Adobe Presenter 8 within PowerPoint 2010 to start recording a presentation, and when I switch on the power switch on the external JVC-cam, Adobe Presenter 8 crashes, showing an error "Application encountered an internal error ... report to product support forums, etc ..." and "Adobe-Pr-VC.exe doesn't work anymore", and creating some error log and dump-files on my notebook.
After switching off the external cam and keeping it switched off, and manually deleting in Task Manager still running instances of Presenter-software (Adobe_Pr_VC.exe), and restarting PowerPoint, everything works well again with the USB or internal webcam.
Already deleted Presenter from my notebook, cleaned up registry with CCleaner, reinstalled Presenter, but error keeps on coming back.
Someone any ideas what causes this error?
Software conflict, driver conflict, Adobe Presenter incompatible with external A/V devices, no support of FireWire I/F, ... ?
    Configuration:
    Fujitsu notebook LifeBook T5010
    Windows 7 Pro SP1  32-bit (Dutch version)
Microsoft Office 2010 Pro Plus (Dutch version)
    Creative webcam connected via USB
External JVC DV-500 videocamera connected via build-in Firewire I/F
Firewire driver was installed by Windows automatically when connecting the cam (msdv.sys 6.1.7600.16385)
The only other real-time encoding software installed is Adobe Flash Media Live encoder 3.2.
Some other usual Adobe stuff (flash player, shockwave player, AIR, reader X, )
The possibility of connecting an external cam to record the speaker and synchronise the PowerPoint and/or screen actions in realtime, would greatly enhance our work.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
started Presenter's Video Creator in troubleshoot mode with external Firewire connected cam switched off.
    1. Video Creator started in troubleshoot mode (got the 'troubleshoot' message)
    2. default active cam was the USB webcam (HD screen, SD cam)
    3. started recording
    4. everything worked normal
    5. stopped recording
Result looked fine. Got the normal troubleshoot message, asking to send log files.  Did not do this, since there was no error at this time.
Then repeated the process with exteral FireWire cam.
    1. Video Creator started in troubleshoot mode
    2. default active cam was the USB webcam (HD screen, SD cam)
    3. powered on external JVC camera connected to the notebook via FireWire
    4. Video Creator crashed after windows detected (beep sound) an active appliance on the FireWire port.
Could not even stop recording with Video Creator in a normal way to go to the "send error log to Adobe" procedure.
Instead got a box with the message: "Applications encountered an internal error. If the problem persists, please report on product support forums or contact the support team."
Had to shut down Adobe_Pr_VC.exe manually in Task Manager.
Tried the same procedure with another FireWire appliance, a DV video recorder with a tape of a previously recorded conference session.
Same error, as soon as I powered on the videorecorder, and Windows detected (beep sound) an active appliance on the FireWire port, Video Creator crashed with the same error message as above.
I can't go through the whole workflow to send the error logs to Adobe, since Video Creator crashes from the moment the power of a FireWire appliance is switched on.
No possibility to stop recording in a normal way (SHIFT-END or clicking the icon in system tray).
Had to manually shut down Adobe_Pr_VC.exe in Task Manager again.
Tried again with Adobe Flash Media Live Encorder 3.2 to see how this application reacts, to be sure there is nothing wrong with my notebook or the Windows O/S.
    1. started Flash Media Encoder with external FireWire cam switched off
    2. saw 2 active devices : build in Sirius webcam and external USB Creative webcam
    3. saw image of my webcam in the encoder monitor windows
    4. switched on power on external JVC camera, connected via FireWire
    5. Flash Media Encoder immediatelly recognized "Microsoft DV Camera and VCR". Selected this and image of external cam was shown in the encoder monitor windows.
    6. Could stream FireWire cam image to an external streaming service without a problem.
Conclusion:  a FireWire connected cam does work with other Adobe software. Must be something wrong in the Video Creator software.
Sorry I can't send you the log files, since app in both normal and troubleshoot mode crashes prematurely.
Hope my explanation helps you a bit to find a solution.
    Regards,
    Patrick

  • IMac crashing after dropping external HD

Whilst my 2008 intel iMac was running today I knocked my my book studio external hd off the desk. The external hard drive made lots of bad noises and I disconnected it. However my iMac is now intermittently crashing after about ten minutes or so of running fine, the screen goes a patchy grey mottled pattern. I have to do a hard shut down to restart.
Can anyone point me in the direction of what I should or shouldn't do at this point. Could it be time machine crashing the iMac now the hd is disconnected or a FireWire issue? Obviously I'm concerned as I don't want to damage the iMac hard drive as well.
    Many thanks

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • Photo Booth "Can't restore window" (Photo Booth crashes) after Lion

The first time I opened Photo Booth after installing "Lion" a pop-up indicated I had to wait until the "files" were re-loaded.  After that Photo Booth just crashes every time you try and say "restore window" or even if you say "don't restore window".  In other words Photo Booth can no longer be used on my iMac.  I will try and use the software on my MBA and see if it runs into the same issue.  If anyone knows a fix please let me know.

From What I've found.. it seems 3ivx or Perian could cause this problem. A friend had this issue and deleted 3ivx and it fixed his crashes. Alternatively, some folks are reporting that turning off 32-bit mode (Get Info) for Photobooth has also fixed, although this was already turned off in my friend's case. Or if you have iGlasses installed.

  • Windows explorer 7 crashes after itunes update to 12.1.x

I upgraded today 2/1/15 to the new iTunes.  It asked me to restart my computer and I cannot get beyond the Welcome screen.  I opened in safe mode and started iTunes.  I saw that 3 components had been updated including ITunes.  I tried to repair each one but Windows crashed and restarted.  I tried to uninstall with Windows again crashing and restarting.  I opened iTunes and got the following message that the other components were not installed correctly and did I want ITunes to fix?  I selected the "yes" button and was taken to the ITunes store. The Support information gave me nothing new to try.
Any next steps?  I can only start in Safe mode

If you have a 64-bit machine, then try the "for older video cards" version...
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Windows 8.1 Crashing after BlackBerry Link install failure

I installed Windows 8.1  All went well.
Went to connect my BB and it asked for Link to be installed.  I obliged and started Link install.
Part way thru the install, Windows 8.1 displayed a new blue screen of death with an face stating rebut needed and diplayed fatal error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (ndis.sys).
Nothing I do will allow Windows to restart; it gets started and almost immediately desplays the blue death screen with the same message.  I can get into safe mode, but that does not allow me to uninstall Link.
I also run Kaspersky and in one the posts indicates this can interfer as well,  I also tried running windows in the special mode that turns of anti-virus; same problem.
I also unplugged all USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
    Anyone got any suggestions.

I posses Z 10 myself. Thanks for pointing out this error. I am exactly facing this error and even installed the latest Blackberry link. I Even keep on updating Windows 8.1 as when it prompts something hoping that me sending the error report also wakes up Windows team.
All was well till Windows 8.
But since 8.1, the windows is crashing the way you described the moment the installation of blackberry link is about to complete. Though the link has somehow still started but does not show logo/shortcut on desktop. Can't synchronize at all.
It does not even help for my HTC too. Only Apple with I5 has not faced any problem yet !!!.
Look forward for fast response from BB team. The error somehow has links with regards to the phone driver.

  • Audition slowing down windows 7 and crashing after a few minutes of being opened

I read a previous forum post on the issue and tried the suggestions. It didn't change anything. Please help.

You haven't really supplied any detail so that someone can offer some assistance
Some info regarding which version of Audition and which version of Win7 would be good for starters and some info about your audio interface, etc would be good too
I'm going to guess that you don't have a unique copy of either Audition or Win7 and as many users on this forum have multiple versions of Audition running without incident on Win7 I'm going to also guess that the issue lies in your particular setup.
It is what is different about your setup that we need to sort out and hopefully fix

  • Random crashes after upgrade; how to switch back to previous version Firefox

First of all Firefox upgraded itself without asking, even though I did not give any approval or command to go ahead. Since my HW is a bit older, I do not want to go for any SW upgrades of my infrastructure SW, except essential tools for my work. 99% of time upgraded SW will need/ use up more resources and slow down the performance while providing "NEW" features or enhancements which I may not even want unless I upgrade my HW. Now I am prone to more crashes when I have scores of tabs in 3 or 4 windows, which is normal for my concurrent processing mind; as often my searches result in things that I cannot finish reading/followup in a day. Although I do bookmark a lot too, but one has to remember to do it; whereas a Tab is open there to REMIND me to read or followup.
Secondly, Then there is no easily visible way or button to switch back to the "previous" version of Firefox; i.e. to undo the Upgrade. Very disappointing and frustrating !! What happened to customer-oriented thinking ?
Adobe behaves better, I have been saying NO to its upgrade question a zillion times, without unchecking "Remind Later" box. And it did not upgrade automatically in last 2 yrs. Only when I pressed ENTER with its button in focus, did it go ahead and upgrade itself (even that was unwittingly done, but at least it WAS my action).
    S. Jalali

Go to Tools>Advanced>Firefox updates - and check as you wish for the future.
Going back to an earlier version is never a good idea for security reasons.

  • N900 KEEPS CRASHING AFTER 1 MINUTE OF SWITCHING ON...

I JUST GOT THIS FONE AND IM ALREADY WANTING TO SMASH THE HELL OUT OF IT.
I TURN ON THE FONE, PUT IN MY PASSWORD, UP COMES THE GET STARTED PAGE AND 45 SECONDS LATER CRASH TIME AND IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.
IS ANYONE ELSE GETTING THIS PROBLEM AND IF SO HOW CAN I FIX IT.
    CHEERS

define battery just died. when you plug the charger cable into the phone, does an orange light appear?
if it doesnt, then chances are you may have broken the microusb connector. the nokia charger cables have a rather large 'hook/lock/teeth' on the device end of the cable. normally it bites down a bit hard, and people make the mistake of wiggling the cable out (should try to pull straight out), which damages the microusb port. its an issue that has been acknowledged by nokia, so if this is your issue, you can bring it into a care centre and get it fixed/replaced under warranty.
as a futureproof alternative, buy samsung chargers/cables, the 'hook/lock/teeth' arent as large, so you can yank it straight out without much risk of damaging the microusb port.
and you dont need the phone to boot up to update/flash. you can do it via your pc.

    Hi Jas,
    >>Started happening after tried to add external switch using WiFi.
If it is only happen to creating external virtual switch bounding it to Wireless NIC, I would suggest you to delete all virtual switch then uninstall hyper-v role and update the driver for wireless NIC then install hyper-v again to check the result .
(By the way , in most of the cases external virtual switch bounding to  wireless NIC will not work well as bounding it to wired NIC )
I would  suggest you  do not  create external virtual switch bounding to wireless NIC .
If you want the VMs can access internet through host's wireless NIC please refer to following thread :

  • Server loses internet connection after creating virtual switch in hyper-v

On a fresh Server 2012R2 Essentials install, I set up Hyper-v and created an external virtual switch. Connection to the vm is good but Health Report no shows loss of internet connectivity and that the router is incorrectly setup.
However, I still have a working internet connection? I worry that the server may not update or allow Anywhere Access at some time. Any suggestions? Thanks

If Hyper-V virtual switch behaves strange and server is destined for testing, then it's correct and I recomend delete this virtual switch and create it again.

  • LR 1.3.1 win crashes after switching module

    Hi,
I haven't been able to work with LR almost at all since the update to 1.3.1 (Windows). It crashes every single time I switch form Library to another module. In Library it is stable and I can rate, remove, move pics, add keywords etc. When I change to Develop, it switches the view, but quits the program after a few seconds even if I don't do anything. Once I managed to get into the crop-section before it crashed. Same happens when switching to any other module, also back to Library. When reopening the program it opens the module I was in upon crash, but doesn't stay there for long before in crashes again; only in Library it works somewhat normally. However, I marked that after a 200 pic import it took very long time to create previews (or so it said in the top-left corner).
Has anyone had similar problems? The update specs say that this 1.3.1 update should fix a crashing problem in develop-module, but my 1.3 worked just fine before this update.. I really need Lightroom so it would be great to find some solution soon.
By the way, my Mac-LR 1.3.1 (in PowerBook g4) works normally, but I don't use it as much as the Windows version..
    greetings,
    --patrik

Hi, thanks for the advice. I wouldn't have liked to reinstall straight away.. The preferences deletion didn't help, but now it seems that reinstalling did it, so I'm well off into adjusting some pics again! :) It seems the 1.3.1 has had quite many problems? Hopefully they don't last too long..

  • Virtual switch internet connection sharing problem

    Greetings,
I am having a problem with sharing internet connection to virtual machine. I tried to create external virtual switch but without success. From time to time I got an error:
Error applying Virtual Switch Properties changes
An internal error occurred while processing the results of creating a new virtual switch. To refresh the results, close and then reopen this window.
but mostly the creation goes fine but after new virtual network device is created I can no longer access internet from Windows 8.1 nor VM as authentication fails (802.1x Secure W2 EAP-TTLS with certificate, username and password). The new device created
by virtual switch manager has authentication changed to Windows Protected EAP(PEAP) instead of original Secure W2 - even if I change it to original Secure W2 nothing happens - authentication still fails.
Sometimes when I try to change authentication settings of new or old NIC I got an error:
The changes to Authentication settings could not be saved
The virtual switch seems to have the same authentication settings as I have had on my NIC but from some reason it doesn't work.
If I am persistent enough I convince to install virtual switch by several attempts but it doesn't work - neither my server (windows 8.1) nor VM can connect to internet.
I hope it is not this:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/341cbe70-3fa7-4991-a7e4-4f1af63df4d0/windows-8-hyperv-8021x-eapol-request-missing?forum=w8itpronetworking
unsolved problem. If it is I am screwed :-/
Any advice how to fix this mess much appreciated...

1.Go to network connection, and find the Wireless network, right click at it.
I am connected by wire (RJ-45) not by WIFI. The cerificate is valid (trusted root certificate used by Secure W2 authentization - not the authentication type you have described).
The problem is in creation of external virtual switch - removed it also with the driver from device manager I installed (and removed) subsequently both motherboard manufacturer latest drivers for my integrated network card and also let windows detect it.
Finally I removed Hyper-V and did a clean installation of network adapter drivers. Then I enabled again Hyper-V role.
After several restarts I tried to create external switch and I was again in the same problems. Then I redid everything and tried to install virtual switch again but
I installed INTERNAL virtual switch instead of external.
External simply doesn't work for me and also destroys functional connections...
To be able to access internet from virtual machine a tried to create a bridge between the connections but then it simply didn't work again (neither could I access internet from host on which was Hyper-V running).
So what has after several trial and errors worked for me eventually - if you would like to have internet connection functional in Hyper-V VM you have to
create INTERNAL VIRTUAL SWITCH and share the original connection and it should then somehow work...
