Windows 8.1 default video driver only displays 1024x768 on Satellite A665D-S6051

My laptop came with Windows 7 Home Premium.  I upgraded to Windows 8.0 and had driver poblems. The Windows 8 installation was getting a bit buggy after 18-mos so I finally decided to upgrade to 8.1.  I did a format and clean install of 8.0, then updated software before installing 8.1 upgrade. After upgrade Windows 8.1 used a default driver that only displays 1024x768 instead of 1366x768. I tried to install video drivers from AMD website and crashed the new Windows 8.1 installation.  I'm back running 8.0 with no problems. Anyone know where I get the correct driver for my A665D-S6051? This is an AMD Pheonom II Quad Core processor with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series video display.

Your model is supported by Toshiba for upgrade to Windows 8, but not to Windows 8.1.
Computers with Windows 7 pre-installed that are supported by Toshiba for update to Windows 8.1
Windows 8.0 will not be supported by Microsoft after January 12, 2016.
I would restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media.
(Some would kill to downgrade to Windows 7!)

  • Any plan for Windows 7 64-bit Video Driver for T60?

I have Win 7 x64 installed, and I'm using the Vista video driver (which I believe is 32-bit).  I'd prefer to have a fully supported 64-bit Windows 7-qualified driver.  Is there any plan to provide one in the near future?  Thanks!

  • Macbook Pro 15" DVD drive only displaying certain images?

Put in the disk and it loads about half of the images on it.  The rest say they are truncated or not good files.  Or that I don't have permission to view them.  This is happening on two Mac's that we have in the office but on a windows PC these images display fine.  More info:  Sometimes the images will work just fine, then they seem to stop working over time?  is the drive faulty?  Please help.

Grab a DVD Lens Cleaner disc. With lens cleaners the more brushes they have the faster/better they work and you only need to let it spin a few seconds.
This is the one I use now on all my CD/DVD hardware:

I've also used these and they work very well:

  • Satellite C650 Windows 7 64-bit video driver

I have removed the home edition of Widows 7 from a new Satellite C650 laptop so I can install Windows 7 Professional (I need to join a domain). I have all drivers installed as well as the BIOS 1.50 update, but the display driver fails to run with an error indicating the minimum requirements for the device have not been met.
What's this all about ? The driver I downloaded is from http://tinyurl.com/3yctbxm
    Full URL:
    http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2777925& rpn=PSC08U&modelFilter=C650-ST2NX1&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663#
This driver is the only option available when filtering for Windows 7 64-bit.

Great. Support for European models is on European support page.
Problem is that many people check US page for European models and wondering why their notebook model is not listed there.

  • Some video files only display a blank black screen but plays audio

I am having a problem playing some of my videos in iTunes. After an update, some of my video files play and others do not. They are all in mpeg-4 video format so I don't know that is the difference except the videos that are not playing are larger files and different sizes than the ones playing. The shorter videos play fine and are 480x320 H.264 Codec but the larger files are 640x352, MPEG-4 Codec. Any ideas? My quicktime is up to date and I'm using iTunes 9.1 (79). Before updates I was able to view the videos without a problem and I cannot remember exactly which update caused the problem but I always update...so it is probably the last update.
I tried playing the video files in quicktime but now it says that quicktime maybe needs another component to play this video. It is strange because before updating I could watch the videos without a problem. Any ideas as to what has happened?

    For the Quicktime issue try:
[Perian codecs for Quicktime|http://www.perian.org] - plugins to add functionality to Quicktime for playing additional audio and video formats
[Quicktime audio problems, Perian, VLC|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9013669] - read note about uninstalling prior DIVX support before installing Perian.
I'm not sure if this works with iTunes. I don't use itunes to watch video, I use [VLC media player|http://www.videolan.org/vlc> - general media player that plays just about anything.

  • Why does my macbook only display 1024x768 on my 1080p tv?

Hello, I have a mid 2007 macbook with osx lion. I connected it to my 1080p TV with a mini-dvi to vga connector. When i plug it into the TV it only shows the resolutions up to 1024x768. I know my macbook can output 1080p because I did it on windows 7 through bootcamp. I want to use my mac side because its a mac only program. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

I would try two things the first being resetting the System Management Controller:
    1) If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2) Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
    3) Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
    4) Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
    5) Press the Power button to restart the computer.
If that doesn't work I would recalibrate the battery.
    To calibrate the battery:
    1) Plug in the MagSafe power adapter and fully charge the MacBook or MacBook Pro battery until the light on the MagSafe connector changes to green and the Battery icon in the menu bar indicates that the battery is fully charged.
    2) Allow the battery to rest in the fully charged state for two hours or longer. You may use your computer during this time as long as the power adapter is plugged in.
    3) Disconnect the power adapter with the computer on and start using it with battery power. When the battery's charge gets low, you’ll see the low battery warning dialog on the screen.
    4) Continue to keep your computer turned on until it goes to sleep. Save your work and close all applications when the battery's charge gets low and before the computer goes to sleep.
    5) Turn off the computer or allow it to sleep for five hours or longer.
    6) Reconnect the power adapter and leave it connected until the battery is fully charged. You may use your computer during this time.

  • Problem with Flash videos. They are only display in "Private Browsing" mode, in Safari 5.1.7

The symptoms is: The flash videos are only display with a full red bar and nothing happen, no video no sound nothing. The Flash player was upgrade with 11.2.202.235. before safari 5.1.7. I have an iMac with SL, and a Macbook with SL too. However after I upgraded safari 5.1.7 the flash videos are not display correctly, (only videos). The same happen in both computers.
I need to tell you that I follow all the possible recommendations that I founded in internent. I uninstall flash pug-in many times. I restore both. I switch many buttons and options like "reset safari", "empty cahe", "block pop-up windows", "enable java-script", "enable java". I turn off and on the firewall. I switch all the options in the flash player plug in preferences. And nothing. I turn on and off the plug ins. In fact I tried all the possibilities in the preferences menus from the programs.
In one occasion I had a glimpse of functionality for only one hour without problems after I reinstall safari from the Apple website, but only worked until I turned off the computer. The next day was the same problem.
After I fought with safari 5.1.7 and the plug-in flash player 11.2.202.235. Now I noticed something wired, only when I switch the "Private browsing" option in safari is when the videos are displayed correctly.
The same videos work perfectly in Firefox.
    Some Suggestions?

Thank you everybody, the problem was corrected in a unexpected way, I decided no to pay attention to the problem after a week fighting with that. I was navigating in a private browsing for two days. I turned the private browsing off again the next Monday, after a week I noticed that all the videos were display correctly, I do not have the problem again. That was wired because at the same time in the laptop everything is ok too. I have my extensions ON, Block Pop-up windows, In Flash payer all the options in ask....something. Only the option Disable Java script in not activated, only when I activate that option all videos are not display.
I think maybe I updated the computer and maybe something happened in the middle. I always update my imac and my macbook at the same time. There is a Flash removal security update in may 14. Maybe that fixed the problem.
Thanks to everybody, everything is ok now however I wanted to know what was the problem.

  • How to view Videos in 16:10 Format on Satellite M30

    Hi,
i have a Satellite M30 notebook with a 16:10 Display but all videos are only displayed in 4:3 format.
Is there any way to play videos in 16:10 format and to remove those black lines from the left and right side of the display?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pizikata

    Hi
I dont know what you mean under all videos but the fact is that original DVD movies are mostly in 16:9 format. That means that on the left and right side there should not be any black border just up and down. I dont know which DVD player you use but every player has different options for display modus like Pan & Scan and frame settings.
Check all those options on your DVD player. I have Qosmio F20 with 16:9 display and I have tested it with several players. On every player there are almost the same results.
    Bye

  • Spotify only displays black screen after video driver crashes

Using Windows 8.1 64x, AMD 7800 series card with the latest AMD 15.4 beta drivers. This driver release is prone to crashing. Spotify, though, doesn't recover after the driver crashes and only displays a black screen. Restarting the program fixes the problem, but it shouldn't have to be restarted in the first place.

I am so sorry to hear this, was it after an ad, i should be able to help, could you also tell me which country you are based in!

  • Not able to install/update HP dc7600 video driver - getting blurry/shadowy/ghosting display

Dear HP Windows XP Specialists, I am having difficulty fixing a blurry/shadowy/ghosting display screen (HP 19inch monitor) on a HP dc7600 SFF (2.99 GHz, 1.0 GB RAM) Desktop PC, which runs Windows XP Professional. It has been working fine for many years until yesterday, where I have replaced the monitor with another working one that works for half a day.I have updated the Chipset SP38488 and Video driver SP37615 but ended up with the following error which I don’t believe it is correct: “This computer does not meet minimum requirements for installing the software. Setup will exit” The problem is Windows XP kept prompting to install video driver after every reboot, and the driver it is looking for is SP37615. Allow it search through a Windows XP installation disk did not work either. It doesn’t or allows me to use standard video driver either. The only idea left is to add more RAM, but find it hard to believe since the display driver (not clear which one that was), has been working without the need to add more RAM.  The part and serial numbers for this PC are PU700AV and AUD6110155 respectively. Any advice to assist would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance,Jack

Hi: According to the specs I found online for the product number for your PC, it has the onboard Intel graphics. See if the XP driver directly from Intel works for you...this was the final release. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/16835/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-Driver-for-Windows-XP-exe-

    Hello, @gunnyswife1719
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
It seems that you're getting a bsod error about the graphics. I will try to assist you with this.
    Start with updating the graphics.
    AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
If that doesn't work, you can try using the HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the factory default drive.
This may also help you: Resolving Blue Screen errors in Windows.

  • Windows 7 video driver for MacBook Pro

I have installed Windows 7 Home Premium x32 on my MacBook Pro 15" with Intel i5. I also updated the Bootcamp to 3.2. I had a couple of blank screen startups that other people are having, but I got past those. The native resolution is 1440x900, but the Windows video driver (a generic PnP driver) only allows a max resolution of 1280x800. This driver functions, but the fonts are not rendered cleanly and videos play poorly.
It seems to me that the generic video driver's inability to handle the native resolution is probably what is causing the blank startup screens as well as the slow rendering. Why isn't Apple providing video drivers for their hardware? The generic Windows drivers aren't working to very many people's satisfaction. Anyone have better video drivers?

I had the same issue and ended up going to Nvidia and downloading the 330 drivers. Works great now.
