Windows 8.1 Driver Installation Order G510

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could tell me the proper order in which to install the Drivers for Windows 8.1
Im using Lenovo G510 ( i5 4200M, Switchable Graphics Intel HD 4600 & AMD Radeon HD 8570M)
My current order is:
1. Intel Chipset
2. Intel Rapid Storage
3. Intel Management Engine
4. Intel Video
5. AMD Video
6. Audio
7. Lan
8. Realtek Card Reader
9. WLAN
10. Touchpad
11. Bluetooth
12. Camera ( Not applicable because Windows 8 & 8.1 Already have that, installation says no capable hardware found)
13. Lenovo Energy Management ( Currently using G510s Touch's because mine doesn't have a windows 8.1 version)
I have experienced that even when I have installed the latest drivers ( Realek card reader in particular), Windows still shows a message in action center to install the latest drivers.
Dell had an official post on installing order of drivers. I want to if it is different from Lenovo.
I feel like Lenovo Energy Management and Realtek card reader drivers should be installed right after INTEL Chipset.
Feedback?

Unlike Dell, Lenovo doesn't really have anything documented on the order in which to install the drivers after a clean install of the operation system.  Unless one of the moderators know of an obscure listing somewhere.  Unfortunately, the documentation for your model is further limited as it only lists the use of the recovery disks which isn't helpful in your situation.
When I do a clean install I tend to rank the driver installation in order of importance.  First installing the drivers that are needed for the basic operating of the machine and from there move on to the lesser important peripherals.  From the looks of your list, it would appear you have done just that and that would be the order I would use.
In regards to the Windows Action Center Message, there is quite possibly an newer driver version available on the Windows Update website.  After your installation of the drivers I would visit the website and review their list for any driver updates.  I would then select just those for download and install.  Once all the drivers are up to date then I would revisit the website for the other OS updates they have to offer.

    Hi,

  • Satellite L670 - Is there any driver installation order for the Win XP

    Hi!
    I own a Toshiba satellite L670 model.
I want to install Windows XP (32 bit) and i wanted to ask if there is an installation order for the laptop drivers (which goes first , second etc) after the Windows Installation. I can't find anythink about it from Toshiba Corp.
    Thanks in advance!

Well, usually you should proceeds with the common drivers like graphic card driver, chipset driver, LAN, WLan driver, touchpad driver, card reader controller, etc
After that I recommend following with Toshiba software like Controls driver, Controls, Hotkey Utility, Power Saver Driver, Power Saver, etc
On the right you can find More Info. There you will find details about each driver, software

  • Re: Satellite P855-31V - Downgrade to Windows 7 and driver install order

I recently bought my first Toshiba laptop and after a few tries with W8, I would like to downgrade it to the previous version, of which I own a valid license of the Pro edition.
I checked which wlan card i had installed (my "PC Information" is below) and downloaded all 44 files available from support.
I updated the bios to 6.50, loaded the default values, changed the "secure boot" to disable and also changed the "boot mode" to csm boot. This allowed me to install W7.
I start installing the drivers: chipset, Intel display driver, Intel Management Engine Interface, Rapid Storage Technology Driver and some more and that's when things start to get ugly - some drivers aren't supported by W7, the nvidia drivers don't recognize the video card, upon reboot after installing some of the drivers windows starts to complain and tries to repair things. A mess.
Did I mess the order of the installs? If so, can anyone post the correct procedure? There are 44 files, some with names like "Toshiba System Driver", "Registry Patch"... I don't know when to install these, plus some of the other files don't have an accurate description.
If W7 can not run correctly on this machine I will have to upgrade it W8 Pro (as I need remote desktop), and again will have to install all drivers, so the correct order to install the drivers and utilities is still very much needed.
Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

I checked the Toshiba EU driver page too.
I found only the Win 8 drivers for Satellite P855 PSPKFE
So possibly you have chosen the Win 7 drivers for another P855 series and therefore not all drivers were compatible
To be honest, the special order is not really necessary only few drivers require right order.
For example BT filter package needs to be installed before BT stack also the Toshiba VAP should be installed before other tools have been installed.

  • 64-Bit Windows 7 Load Driver Installation Problem

I am new to Mac and have recently got my hands on a new 17" MBP.
The MBP is a 2011 model dating from about May.
Not wanting to step 100% away from Windows I want to install Windows 7 as well and run Mac OS.
I have tried installing Windows 7 32-Bit and it worked absolutely fine - no problems at all.
However, when I tried to install 64-Bit Windows 7 I ran into a problem very early on in the installation.
Before the part where you select the partition to install Windows on, I get a "Load Driver" message which reads:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I cannot eject the DVD to replace it with the Windows Support DVD that I burned (which I assume has the relevant drivers on), so I am a bit stuck.
I tried googling and a few people suggested burning the disk at a slower speed, which I did and it made no difference at all.
The fact that 32-Bit works lets me know I am doing things right, there must be something about the 64-Bit that the MBP doesn't like.
Any help much appreciated. I have 8GB RAM and would like to use it all with both Mac OS AND Windows so 64-Bit is preferred.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem.
I have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 and I tried for hours to find a driver for superdrive but nothing at the moment...

Installing the Cirrus Logic Driver (CirrusAudioCS4206x64.exe)  from the Boot Camp package seems to work fine first, but on reboot the system crashes. (Cold Start required).

  • Freezing Windows after Apple driver installation

    Hi,
I'm having some strange issues after I install Boot Camp. The Windows install goes fine, but after I install the Apple drivers that came on the 10.5 install disk and restart, Windows freezes a few seconds after getting to the desktop and remains unresponsive. I have to then do a hard reboot. The disk checks out ok in chkdsk, but I'm not sure where to go from here to get a functional Windows partition. Any ideas on what I can check or try to get this to work?
    Thanks!

The divers Apple provides, for whatever reason, are the problem. It's not any particular device driver, because when I load each driver individually by cancel install, explore the DVD to Dirvers, and double click on the ones I need making sure to click the ones with 'XPinstall' in them. I don't know what the other set does, so I'm leaving it alone. Now it works like a charm. The problem is when it goes an installs the bit that puts the Control Panel on. Removing that (yea parallels!) makes the system operational again. BTW, It looks like the 2.1 update changes the Visual C++ redistributable.
So now Windows works fine, but I don't have my nifty key bindings or the Boot Camp Control Pannel. Any ideas?

  • S205 - WinXP - correct driver installation order?

    Hello,
I've managed to set up my S205 with WinXP SP3, but 3 issues occured:
    - Bluetooth didn't work
    - the Webcam didn't work
    - the system froze after I tried to carry the S205 netbook around
I searched around in this forum and found out that other S-class netbooks need their xp drivers installed in a specific order to function properly.
After playing around with the drivers I managed to get the blue screen of death and needed to reboot 10 times to get past him. I think it would be best to wipe the system partition and reinstall XP and all drivers in the correct order...
    ... if there is one?
Thanks for your help in advance!

try to remove/re-install webcam drivers. for bluetooth, press fn + f5 to activate bluetooth ( switch the wireless button first )

can you check if the issue persists on safe mode?

  • Bootcamp 5.0, Windows 7, BC driver installation crash

I installed Windows 7 on my 15-inch MacBook w/o retina display. I burned a disc with the BC drivers on it. Every time I install the BC drivers, my Windows 7 crashes and I always have to restore back to the point before installing the Windows 7 drivers.
    Information:
    MacBookPro, 15-inch, 2.6 GHz i7 (latest w/o retina display)
    Mountain Lion 10.8.1
    Bootcamp 5.0
    Windows 7 Ultimate

I was mistaken in my previous post as to which version of windows 7 I was using.  I am currently a Computer Science student and am given keys to windows 7 through my university, the versions I get from them are the Enterprise versions, NOT Professional.  I installed a standard version on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 in place of the version I received from school and every thing installed just fine.  I now have the full functionality of my MBP when booted into windows.
The only difference I found between the enterprise version of windows 7 and ultimate/pro/home versions are some extended networking capabilities.  As far as I can tell these may have been at the root of my problems.  As I said, with the non-enterprise version, all of the widows support drivers from the boot camp assistant installed with out so much as a hicup and everything including my BT mouse works as intended in windows and osx.
Not sure if this is any help to the posters here, just be aware of exactly which version of windows 7 your using.  From what I've read, home and professional seem to work just fine, perhaph ultimate and enterprise still have some bugs that need to be worked out.

    Hello Gus,
There is no particular driver installation order. I personally firstly install Chipset then Display/Video drivers and after that everything else. Since you have AMD RADEON HD8570M in your machine, you do not have to install the three additional Intel drivers.

  • G510 Windows 7 WLAN driver doesn't work

My G510 came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. I didn't want that, so I installed Windows 7 instead. After that, I downloaded this driver (WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Lenovo G410, G510) using a different computer. I copied the driver to a USB thumb drive. Then I installed the driver on the G510.
The driver installed without any errors. However, I still can't enable the wireless adapter. Device manager shows missing drivers for several components (as expected) under "Other devices" but I am not sure which one is the wireless adapter:
BCM43142A0 (I believe this is the bluetooth adapter)
    Ethernet Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Simple Communications Controller
    SM Bus Controller
    Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller
    Unknown device
    USB2.0-CRW
Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections shows no network adapters at all, but Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features shows Lenovo_Wireless_Driver is installed.
When the installer runs, it copies the files from the "C:\drivers\WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek)\Broadcom\6.30.233.75\Driver\Win8" directory to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\Lenovo_Wireless_Driver\Win8" directory. I believe the problem may be that this is in fact a driver for Windows 8 and not for Windows 7 as indicated.
I thought at first I may have just downloaded the wrong driver (I was careful to select the right one), but after downloading it again, I confirmed that I have the correct installer with the file name wlan125w7u1.exe.
I've tried re-installing the driver several times as an administrator, rebooting before and after each install. I've also tried Fn+F5 and Fn+F7, which does nothing.
Edit: I almost forgot the best part. I called Lenovo technical support last night, who told me I must contact premium technical support in the morning (they were closed at the time). But premium technical support refuses to help me with this problem unless I am willing to pay $59, or $170 for a one-year support subscription, as they consider it a software support issue.

    hi FoulSynthesis,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If you have the Broadcom 43142 Wireless LAN Adapter (BCM43142) with the following Hardware ID then you may wanna check the driver below:
    Hardware ID:
    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B3BB&REV_1152&MI_00
    USB\VID_04F2&PID_B3BB&MI_00
    Driver:
Broadcom BCM43142 Wireless LAN Driver (802.11b/g/n)
    h0wg01ww.exe
    10.6 MB
If the driver above doesn't work for you, kindly follow this guide on how to find  the hardware ID of the Wi-Fi card (it's the one labelled Network Controller underDevice Manager > Other Devices) to correctly identify the appropriate Windows 7 driver.

  • Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP, additional Windows updates and JRE

    Hello,
Sorry to post a new thread but the old one " [Tecra A10 - Installation order for XP|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=45611] " being closed and my question relates to the same topic.
I got hold of a Tecra A10 PTSB0A-002001 and I would like to install XP SP3 on it so the order in which to install Toshiba additionnal drivers is very useful. Thank you Ivan25 for that information.
Toshiba also include a Java Runtime Environment 2 package which I was planning to replace by a JSE 7. I would like to know in which order it has to be installed?
Furthermore, after installing XP SP3 there are still hundreds of Windows updates to apply, should those Windows updates be installed straight after XP SP3 setup or after Toshiba drivers?
Thank you in advance for your help

    Hi Francesco_1,
Thank you for you reply. I did install JRE 7 in fact because JRE 2 is a bit out-dated.
For information, the "ALPS Pointing-device Driver" returned errors but all went fine when Iinstalled Vista 32bit driver instead of XP 32bits
Another question, is with regards to "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM) ". Since, we have to install SATA HDD drivers during Windows XP setup, is it necessary to run again the "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager(iMSM)" which might overwrite the SATA driver installed at the beginning of the setup?
I agree with you that WXP might not be the best choice, but I need to run some older software that do not work yet under W7, especially under W7 64bits! I am planning on having a boot lodaer anyway, which will allow me to start MS-DOS, XP, W7 or Linux depending on the need.
