Windows 8.1 Event ID 10016 "not responding"

I have windows 8.1 and have installed firefox, the latest version. Once I try to launch it I get the blank firefox window and at the top bar it says "not responding". I have installed and uninstalled and rebooted etc...
I am getting Event ID 10016 in Event Logs in SYSTEM -
full error message is

I have gotten rid of the 10016 but the error continues of the "not responding" .
I get an error in the application log - see below -

  • Itunes 10 update on windows 7 makes it freeze and not respond

Ever since I updated my itunes to the newest version my itunes will freeze and not respond everytime I open it.
I use windows 7 and have not add-ons
    any help

    Many thanks.
That's consistent with an application (other than QuickTime itself) having dropped old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • When I have several windows open, firefox4 is slow or not responding, why?

firefox runs very slow and or does not respond.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
Check if there is an update available for your graphics display card driver.
    * Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

  • Windows 7 always gives the message ( Not Responding )

    HI,,
My Laptop gives me the message of ( Not responding ) all the time on all applications .. I make sfc /scannow and it gives me the result ( Corrupting files are existing in windows but it can not be resolved ) ..
So , how can i repair these corrupted files ...

    Hi,
Run command chkdsc /r /f check the result.
If you have a resore point, you can also return your system to a previous state when your computer was functioning fine.
If this issue doesn't exist in another user account, then it might be related with a corruped user profile, if so, try this link

  • Nano was working perfectly until I had to reformat for windows computer. Now, it does not respond well to touch.

I recently purchased a ipod nano and briefly had it synced with my macbook pro.  I recently sold my macbook pro and had to reformat ipod nano.  Since then, the ipod nano does not respond very well to touch commands and sometimes goes into apps that I did not select.  It is impossible to switch from page one to page two one app screen.
    Thanks,

    Hey acdc1996,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! Even if you have a different generation of nano, you'll want to check out the troubleshooting steps in the following article as most of them would still be applicable:

  • I tried to install the latest itunes on my Windows 8 computer and it is not responding. Nothing happens.

I got an HP computer with Windows 8 already loaded on it. I have tried unsuccessfully for months to put itunes on this computer. I try and then give up. All I am able to get is a non-responsive program. Just a white screen with a blue spinning circle. I have tried several suggestions - run in administrator mode, try changing the compatibility, but am lost and frustrated. I am not very technologically savvy, so please help!

    Hello cnitz,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:

iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues

    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
    Best of luck,

  • Blackberry Desktop 6.1 won't work with Windows 7-Error message each time "Not responding"

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the desktop software several time but it starts to open and then stops responding each time.  I haven't been able to sync my new 9810 Torch yet.

No, I was not able to solve the problem.
Today I tried to running SFC /scanall to check and repair all system files, but the problem is not solved.
I tried to install in a XP Virtual machine, hosted in another machine's Win7, and was able to run the DTM 3.1 without problems. But I need to run it on the XP on the poriginal machine ...
As a last resource, I will reinstall XP, + ALL programs again, but that is too much work and trouble so I will keep looking fo simpler solutions for a while.
If you find out any way out of this, please let me know.
Does anybody from RIM reads this forum? I would surely like to get in touch with them before I get bored with this problem and get rid of the BB altogether and move to a more reliable provider.

  • Successful Windows 8 Boot Camp setup, keyboard not responding...

I successfuly managed to boot camp windows 8 pro (via the windows 7 upgrade route).. I rebooted the system at least a few times without experiencing any issues with the Keyboard.. yet now I can't do anything... I had windows setup eactly how I needed it after a few hours.. I have seen responses to try boot camping again in the hope by luck it will fix itself...  But the problem I have is in order to activate Windows I had to spend over an hour on the phone with MS which I really don't want to have to go through again...  It took about 3 - 4 hours to get it to where I had it and it would be an absolute pain in the a ss to have to go through it again.....

Good day, I have installed Windows 8 successfully on my Macbook, [OS X Mountain Lion] using Boot Camp assistant. When I got to the step to install the Boot Camp Support software with the CD I created during installation through bootcamp, a pop up message appeared: "This version of Boot Camp is not intended for this computer model." I am stuck in Windows at the moment, there is no way to restart in Mac OS X now, I have tried the hold down the option key while restarting too, it doesn't work.
    1. how can I get to restart in Mac again?
Reboot, hold the X key when you hear the chime, hold it until the computer starts to boot in OSX
    2. where can I download the correct Boot Camp support software for this computer for Windows 8? [macbook pro with retina display; OS X Mountain Lion]
Windows 8 is not yet supported, there are no drivers, wait for them or use Windows 7.

  • Windows Service Error 1053 - Service did not respond to start or control request

I'm presuming it's logging on as a domain user.  Has that user got "Logon as a Service" rights?

I've been working on this issue with our developers for the past week, and so far we're stumped. We have a Windows Service that was created in-house to process our customers imaging requests with assured delivery that are past the start date. We currently have this service, and a few others like it, running on 12 different bus servers. The servers all run .NET Framework 4.5, and all the other servers run it with no problem. This particular service bus gives us the "Error 1053" as so on as we try to start the service. I've increased the timeout to 60 seconds, but it was set at 30 before and it times out IMMEDIATELY after pressing start. I've uploaded the .config file we use. I modified the IP addresses for security reasons. The service logs on with an administrator password that has domain access rights. We've tested the connectivity...

  • Windows media player video settings will not respond !

    Hi to everyone !
The video colour quality on w/media player lacks clarity .I have tried to adjust this from the video settings within
the program facility. The slider adjusters always return to zero after I have attempted the adjustment.
Alternately,I have tried to find how to reinstall the program from the recovery disc but have not been able to identify
the program from within the recovery disc.

    Thanks for your response.
Contrary to what you indicate,M/s was my first port of call
and as a result they suggested I direct my query to manufacturers web page,ie:Toshiba !
Regardless of the location that my query arrived at,I thought it reasonable
to presume that W/media player was a widly used program and thus another
user might have had a similar problem/experience.

  • Windows 10 and MarvellYukon Network Adapter not responding properly

With W10 preview the "Marvell Yukon Network-Adapter" does not work properly.
It destroys the ethernet-integrity (some nodes are not shown on other computers anymore when W10 is up) und the network speed is about a few kilobits!
RDP connection to W10 machine will lost unexpectedly! It seems to be a massive driver problem.
    Regards

I found the reason: after installing the new build "Jumbo Frames" were activated to 9000 .
Really mysterious, I never touched these settings ...

  • Adobe Reader Does Not Respond in Windows 8

I need to do a simple edit of a pdf. I've been editing pdfs using nothing but the free Adobe reader for years. Now I got a new laptop - 64 bit Windows 8 and I installed the current reader. I need the Adobe reader for other programs I work with.  I have noticed that the adobe reader is slow to open and constantly says "not responding." I also cannot get it to respond so that I can fill in a form (i.e., a basic edit), which I could always do.  Please tell me how to fix this!

I figured it out!  I have Adobe Reader XI on my desktop. I opened it up. I went to Edit/Preferences/Security (Enhanced) and disabled the "Protected Mode at startup." My Adobe pdfs now respond and I can edit them without issue.

  • Windows Media Player DLL is busy or not responding.

When I attempt to open a web page with Windows Media Player embedded, Firefox locks up for about 30 seconds, then a message appears that says "Windows Media Player is busy or not responding."
It offers to let me continue waiting, or stop the DLL.
If I continue waiting, the page eventually loads, and Firefox wakes up.
The embedded media player has a gray background and nasty-looking circa 1998 controls. (It used to have contemporary controls, resembling stand-alone media player.)
Embedded media player still works correctly with Internet Explorer, and shows the correct controls and user interface.
I've already set plugins.load_appdir_plugins to true - that wasn't it.
This seems to be a recent issue - earlier versions of Firefox handled the embedded media player fine.
    I have npdsplay.dll version 3.0.2.629 and np-mswmp.dll 1.0.0.8 installed.
    Thanks.

    Hello JacksBack,
Some plugins that are no longer maintained, like the Windows Media plugin, have their files installed in a place that Firefox no longer supports.
