Windows 8.1 Force a specific default lock screen image

Hi,
at the moment we are preparing the win 8.1 rollout in our environment.
Now we tried to customize the lock screen image.
There we are facing the issue that the image does not get correctly resized to different screen resolutions.
Therefore we are using a image with a resolution of 2160x1440 pixels.
Does anybody have an idear how tho fix this ?
Thanks in advanced,
Thomas

Hi,
Based on my test, when user customizing the lock screen picture, system would create a new folder under the following path:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\SystemData\S-1-5-21-1765481211-944569940-2390947737-1001\ReadOnly\
and create a folder for the new lock screen picture which named in sequence, such as LockScreen_A, B, etc.
In the LockScreen folder, system would generate some series pixels picture for this lock screen picture. However, when you change screen resolution, There might be a problem.
In my opinion, you can try to use a picture which resolutioin same with system default lockscreen picture for test:

  • How to get back default Lock Screen Image of Windows 8.1

I recently upgraded windows 8 to Windows 8.1, but it reset my custom lock screen image .  I tried for default lock screen of windows 8.1.I can't find any default lock screen
images of windows 8.1 (Only custom images are available). How to get default lock screen images? Does any any one know? please help me..

The last "solution" works only for pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete and clicking
Lock. If you sign out of Windows and sign back in, that ghastly Windows 8.1 lock screen picture will come back.
You can delete the img100.png file from your WinSxS folder: right lick on this file, click Properties, click the Security tab, click Edit, click Add, type your Windows user name in the white rectangle under "Enter the object
name to select", click Check Names, click OK, then click Advanced, click Change, take ownership of the file, give yourself Full control over this file, click Apply and then OK. You may see your name three times in the Security tab (as user, administrator,
and yourself). Make sure that each instance has full Control
If this does not work, you can disable the Lock Screen: press Windows+R, type
gpedit.msc, click OK, in the Local Group Policy Editor window that opens click on Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization, right click on the "Do not display the lock screen" option, click
Edit, check Enabled, then click Apply and OK.
This, however, is a workaround rather than a real solution, which, it seems, Microsoft does not have.
I have exactly the same issue with the horrid stripey thing. Furthermore, in Settings, Lock Screen Preview is completely blank both on current and past images.
I've tried all the tips I've found around the web with no success. I get the horrid stripey thing back.
I found this freeware called Lock Screen Customizer. Seems to work so far but time will tell. (Note that the download includes both win8 and win8.1 versions.)

  • Where can I find the default lock screen background / 10.3.1

    Hi,
this might be a silly question, I'd love to use the default lock screen background that came with 10.3.1 (the one below) as my main background as well, but I can't find it on my phone.
Does anyone know where it is stored? (not in 'protected_media/wallpapers', apparently :-( )
    Solved!

    Hello,
That's your carrier default wallpaper, you can get it by going to options, display, then click on the advanced button, which looks like an equaliser and then click 'reset to carrier wallpaper'.
    Regards.

  • Scaling lock screen image

I am having a problem with my lock screen image after upgrading to IOS 7. I liek to have emergency contact info displayed. I have used a couple of different ICE programs that create an image int he camera roll that can then be set as the lock screen image. WHile I am selecting the image under Settings -> Wallpapers & Brightness, it says "Move and Scale". I can move or pinch operatiosn but as soon as I take my finger off, the iamge springs back to the original. The result is that some of the text is cut off at the edge of the display.
I have also looked at the iamges under the Photos app. When I jsut view the iage, I get the same left edge cutoff. But when I go into Edit mode, I see all the text.

You may try Group Policy Editor to prevent this.
Press Win+X Keys to launch Run menu.
Type in gpedit.msc  in the blank space of Run menu and hit the Enter key.
Now expand Administrative Tools > Control Panel > Personalization  > Prevent changing lock screen image.
Prevents users from changing the background image shown when the machine is locked.
By default, users can change the background image shown when the machine is locked.
If you enable this setting, the user will not be able to change their lock screen image, and they will instead see the default image.

  • Delete lock screen image

so a buddy of mine decided to change my account picture and lock screen image to a naked guy and i want these pictures off of my computer. i have found the folder to delete the account picture and i deleted the image from the desktop of the lock screen
image, but it is still an option when i go to select the lock screen image. where can i permanently delete this picture from?

From which location have you deleted the picture?
    Here is the picture location:
     C:\Users\<yourusername>\appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures
Remember Appdata is a hidden folder.
Select a new picture to update your account picture.
See pictures on the desktop, Start, and the lock screen

  • Windows 8.1 odd, situational unresponsiveness at lock screen

    Hello,
I am experiencing an issue with our school's deployed Win 8.1 machines. At the lock screen, which prompts for a password to re-login, if the user enters an incorrect password, the system disables the enter key and enter arrow, as in no amount of presses
    will work.
To get around this, the user simply has to select "switch user", then select their username from the list. This takes them back to the login screen, where they can try their password again. However, if they enter their password incorrectly this
time, the system does not disable the enter key and enter arrow; it only happens on the initial lock screen.
I have run sfc and chkdsk. Has anyone else experienced this and/or know how to fix it?
We are running Windows 8.1 Pro

  • Choosing Lock Screen image

    Hi
I wish to change the image used for the Lock Screen in Windows 8.1. When I try I am unable to navigate to the folder that contains the image I wish to use. Instead the Libraries are shown. Where is the Browse button that will allow me to navigate the computer
and choose the image I wish to use? I have many thousands of images, and several folders are not included within the Libraries.
    Thanks

    Hi,
If my understanding is right, we could use the browse button to choose the pictures in the computer.
Please take the following steps to change the lock screen picture.
    1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap
    Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click
Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
    2. Tap or click PC and devices, then tap or click Lock screen.
    3. If you want to use just one photo on your lock screen, tap or click
Browse, and then choose the picture you want (you can choose photos on your PC or OneDrive).

    Hey msb247,
    Thanks for the post.
What BlackBerry 10 smartphone are you using?  Also what version of BlackBerry device software are you running? Go to Settings>About to get this information.
Have you tried choosing a different background image?
I look forward to your reply.

  • Restore lock screen image

I was wondering if anyone knows how to restore the lock screen wallpaper (Water droplets) for the iPhone 4. I changed my image and now want to reset it. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Roy

Roy - If you're talking about the grey with water droplets, it's the first option in the included wallpapers. Click Settings / Wallpaper. Then, click the less than symbol ">". Then, click Wallpaper and take your pick.

  • Magnified lock screen image

Is they an easier way not to make my lock screen wallpaper image not magnified?

Double-tap the screen with three fingers to turn off Zoom. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and turn this Off.
Also make sure that none of the items in Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut are checked.

  • Resume from suspend - Background & Lock Screen image corruption

    I have a Dell Vostro 3700.
The OS is Arch 64 bit. I am using Nvidia-340xx and kernel 3.17.4-1.
When I resume from suspend my lock screen and wallpaper images look like static on a TV.
If the img tag doesnt post the image...here is my imgur link to what it looks like. http://imgur.com/xnftjFC
    Thank you.

thiagowfx wrote:Would reloading the wallpaper solve your problem? For example, with feh. If yes, maybe you could reload it automatically every time you exit from suspend.
Reloading the wallpaper actually does do the trick. The feh method will most likely work.
    i3lock && systemctl suspend
The i3lock produces the same results. Interesting lock screen btw.
I didn't have this problem until the upgrade when I had to use 'nvidia-340xx' instead off 'nvidia' for my drivers. Obviously that was quite a while ago and since then I have re-installed arch from scratch a few times and each time, it was the same issue.

  • Windows 10: Second display "turns off" in lock screen

Unfortunately some of these quirks are why people don't upgrade straight away, on the plus side by having over 14M people upgrade in less than 2 days MS now has a lot of faults found and fixes to work on - quickly. We hope.
That said I have a dual screen setup and my monitors retain the screen space settings.
The fact yours is a laptop maybe indicative of your issue - does your laptop have dual graphics,  e.g. one for high use games and one for low use 2D?
Does it turn off 3D settings - it may not be a Windows 10 thing but more of a setting that has defaulted.

I don't recall having this problem with Win 7 Pro, just upgraded to 10 pro a few days ago.I have an HP Probook 450 G2 (with up-to-date graphics driver) and a dual monitor setup. Main display is on HDMI and second display is on VGA. When I lock my laptop (Win+L), it seems to "turn off" the second display and shifts any applications I had in the second display to the main display. While a relatively small issue, it is rather annoying to have to drag applications back over to the second display when I resume working. It doesn't seem to happen right away though, nor does it seem to trigger when display is set to sleep at 20 minutes. I'm not sure how else to explain this. I've found posts of a similar nature on Spiceworks and other forums, but nothing seems to help.Thispostis from a while ago and is related to Win 7, but does seem to describe...
