Windows 8.1 Hyper-v Clipboard becomes slow to copy

In enhanced session mode copying files and folders to the Virtual machine (Windows 8.1) has got a lot slower for some reason that I can't understand.
Can anyone think of a reason? Any potential solutions?
Using SSD's in the machine, there appears to be enough HDD space so it should stay quick? Does the number of checkpoints have an impact? Machine account times out so have to regularly checkpoint.
Kind regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,
>>In enhanced session mode copying files and folders to the Virtual machine (Windows 8.1) has got a lot slower for some reason that I can't understand.
Based on my understanding , you may need to check the disk performance when you feel "slower" .
Please perfmon resmon.exe in "run" then  check disk performance before you perfmon file copy .
>>Using SSD's in the machine, there appears to be enough HDD space so it should stay quick?
Disk performance depends on disk I/O not disk space .
>>Does the number of checkpoints have an impact?
During taking checkpoints ,the disk performance should decrease .

  • Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V has really slow VMs disk access

Wondering if anyone can help? I have noticed in a couple of Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V scenarios, that the VM guests are often very slow. Disk access is especially slow.
In one situation their was only a couple of guest VMs, and they were running of mirrored IDE HDDs.  Performance improved significantly when I used two mirrored SSD hdds instead.
My other main situation is where the VHDs are stored on HP Lefthand P4300, over 2-nodes with 8 SATA hdds in each, using iSCSI.
So I ran a few tests with robocopy copying 4-6GB of files (mostly large) or whole VHDs (40GB or more), using HP4300 SATA, a newer HP 4330 SAS, a THECUS NAS with SATA hdds,  and an SSD in a THECUS NAS, and local SAS mirrored hdds. All using iSCSI except
    the local SAS hdds.
You can see from results that Guests run considerably slower than host. Any ideas?
Sample data (although not always same background conditions of load etc):
From within Guest direct iSCSI to same (from HP 4330): 34MB/s
From other Guest using VHD (from HP4300) to direct iSCSI (from HP4330): 14MB/s
From within Guest using VHD (from HP4330) to same: 9MB/s
From within Guest using VHD (from HP4300) to VHD (from HP4330): 11MB/s
From within Guest using VHD (from HP4330) to VHD (from HP4330): 19MB/s
From within Guest using VHD (from THECUS SSD) to same VHD (from THECUS SSD): 18MB/s
From within Guest using VHD (from HP4300) to VHD (from THECUS SSD): 13MB/s
From within Host from HP4300 iSCSI to HP4330 iSCSI: 12MB/s
From within Host using VHD (from THECUS SSD) to same VHD (from THECUS SSD): 40MB/s
From within Host from HP4330 iSCSI to same HP4330 iSCSI: 232MB/s & 132MB/s
    From within Host from HP4330 iSCSI to HP4300 iSCSI: 40MB/s & 57MB/s
From within Host from HP4300 iSCSI to same HP4300 iSCSI: 26MB/s & 47MB/s
From within Host from HP4300 iSCSI to Guest VHD (from THECUS SATA): 15MB/s

    Hi aucj,
I would suggest to use host level ISCSI connection then build VM on that ISCSI disk .
please add more Vcpu for that VM then try to copy again (shutdown the other VMs ,in that online VM from one folder to another folder ).
    Hp4330 ISCSI connection is 1GB , right ?
If yes , it should be with max 100M/s with the single ISCSI connection .
    Best Regards

  • IMac has become slow and freezes up

For a few months now my iMac has been much slower than it used to be. Apps take longer to open, menu functions respond more slowly, folders and files take longer to open, pages longer to display, etc. Frequently the active window freezes and the colour wheel starts spinning for 10-15 seconds (it has been doing it twice since I started writing this sentence). This happens with all apps I am using, like Safari, Mail, Word and Excel, but particularly frequently in Logic Pro X. Sometimes when it happens (but not always), I get the error message "Disk too slow or system overload (-10010)". However, I upgraded to Logic Pro X about a year ago, and I never had this problem during the first number of months after the upgrade. I am aware that Logic uses a lot of CPU and memory, but, as mentioned, I also have the problem when Logic is not running. This leads me to think there might be something with the hard disk, although it beats me why it suddenly should have become slow. I am currently running everything from the built-in 1 TB hard disk. I have a 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU and 8 GB RAM. A full EtreCheck report with my system specifics is enclosed below. Can anyone help?

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Mac book become slow

    hi
im using mac book 15 inch retina
from last week its become slow ?
    how can i fix it
    tnks

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
If you have a MacBook Pro with dual graphics, disable automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saverpreference pane for better performance at the cost of shorter battery life.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Screen flickers and photoshop becomes slow

    Hi,
I have been using photoshop for quite a while now and have never faced any issues until now. I upgraded from windows 7/64 bit to windows 8.1/64 bit and the problems have started. When I turn on the ruler view my ruler flickers and also the photoshop becomes slow. If I hold the spacebar(hand tool) and want to move to some area it's not smooth. When the ruler view is turned off it's all fine but as a web designer I can't do without the ruler. Earlier I had the whole screen flickering issues but I did some search on the internet and have tuned the drawing board to basic and that has solved the issue but not the ruler flickering issue. BTW I am using Photoshop CC. I am unable to work on it and I need some help please help me guys.
    Thank you

  • I am facing what appears to be a malware, my browsing is slow, my browser hangs and also my system has become slow

I am facing what appears to be a malware, my browsing is slow, my browser hangs and also my system has become slow, these are symptoms, I cant watch videos on youtube

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
After moving all the files, restart the computer and empty the Trash.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This unwanted program is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • My Macbook pro 10.6.8 has become slow in recent days

My Macbook pro has become slow in recent days. I have installed Macafee internet security software and not sure whether this is slowing down my system. Especially Safari has become really slow. The videos stuck, when another webpage gets loaded in another tab. The rainbow circle keeps appearing oftern in safari. The pages are very slow in response, even scrolling takes a good minute or two. The applications are taking more time to load. I admired my mac for its quick response, but snow leopard has turned into a snow turtle.

I also finger McAffee as the culprit, it's not necessary on Mac's as of 10.6.8+ Apple installed their own anti-OS X malware detector and it checks for updates like every 26 hours or so.
If you need to clean the Windows malware off their files, the free ClamXav does the job nicely and doesn't bugger up the machine as it's run as you need it.
For your other slowdown issues, I suggest you look through these tips of mine, my Snow Leopard is incredibly fast.

    ORACLE SYSTEM
    OS Version: windows 2003 server
    Oracle Version: Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 Dataguard
    Application: Microsoft Dynamics Ax
Problem: application team report system become slow from 2-27. They give out the reason is that the number of orders increase about four times.
And this month the number will also increase. So they want us to check the system.
I have made the awrrpt report for 2-26 and 3-1

As Alexander pointed out - you have a lot of "lost" time from Oracle's perspective: the sum of the Total Call Time percentage in the first report is 11.6%, in the second it's 14.7. Check (and post) the "OS Statistics" sections of the report to see what the O/S workload looks like when compared to Oracle's internal workloa.

  • Laptop's become slow as soon as i've connected my portable

ok, this is something new i've been facing since yesterday, i noticed that my laptop lenovo G460 has become slow  when i connect my 320 gig portable HDD, its a seagate freeagent go... when i connect it and open the portable drive on my computer it shows that its loading data...  the green progress bar you get when its reading or loading data from a disk or drive... the progress is extremely slow.... didnt face any such issue when i connected this portable to my desktop which is much lower on specs.
    my laptop specs
    Intel core i3 2.13ghz
    4 gigs ram
    320 gigs internal HDD

  • Windows Server 2012 - Hyper-V - iSCSI SAN - All Hyper-V Guests stops responding and extensive disk read/write

We have a problem with one of our deployments of Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V with a 2 node cluster connected to a iSCSI SAN.
    Our setup:
Hosts - Both run Windows Server 2012 Standard and are clustered.
HP ProLiant G7, 24 GB RAM, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
HP ProLiant G5, 20 GB RAM, 1 NIC dedicated to Virtual Machines and Management, 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage. - This is the secondary host that and is intended to be used in case of failure of the primary host.
We have no antivirus on the hosts and the scheduled ShadowCopy (previous version of files) is switched of.
    iSCSI SAN:
    QNAP NAS TS-869 Pro, 8 INTEL SSDSA2CW160G3 160 GB i a RAID 5 with a Host Spare. 2 Teamed NIC.
    Switch:
DLINK DGS-1210-16 - Both the network cards of the Hosts that are dedicated to the Storage and the Storage itself are connected to the same switch and nothing else is connected to this switch.
    Virtual Machines:
    3 Windows Server 2012 Standard - 1 DC, 1 FileServer, 1 Application Server.
1 Windows Server 2008 Standard Exchange Server.
All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
    Updates
We have applied the most resent updates to the Hosts, WMs and iSCSI SAN about 3 weeks ago with no change in our problem and we continually update the setup.
    Normal operation
Normally this setup works just fine and we see no real difference in speed in startup, file copy and processing speed in LoB applications of this setup compared to a single host with 2 10000 RPM Disks. Normal network speed is 10-200 Mbit, but occasionally
we see speeds up to 400 Mbit/s of combined read/write for instance during file repair
    Our Problem
Our problem is that for some reason all of the VMs stops responding or responds very slowly and you can for instance not send CTRL-ALT-DEL to a VM in the Hyper-V console, or for instance start task manager when already logged in.
Symptoms (i.e. this happens, or does not happen, at the same time)
I we look at resource monitor on the host then we see that there is often an extensive read from a VHDX of one of the VMs (40-60 Mbyte/s) and a combined write speed to many files in \HarddiskVolume5\System Volume Information\{<someguid and no file extension>}.
    See iamge below.
The combined network speed to the iSCSI SAN is about 500-600 Mbit/s.
When this happens it is usually during and after a VSS ShadowCopy backup, but has also happens during hours where no backup should be running (i.e. during daytime when the backup has finished hours ago according to the log files). There is however
not that extensive writes to the backup file that is created on an external hard drive and this does not seem to happen during all backups (we have manually checked a few times, but it is hard to say since this error does not seem leave any traces in event
    viewer).
We cannot find any indication that the VMs themself detect any problem and we see no increase of errors (for example storage related errors) in the eventlog inside the VMs.
The QNAP uses about 50% processing Power on all cores.
We see no dropped packets on the switch.
(I have split the image to save horizontal space).
Unable to recreate the problem / find definitive trigger
We have not succeeded in recreating the problem manually by, for instance, running chkdsk or defrag in VM and Hosts, copy and remove large files to VMs, running CPU and Disk intensive operations inside a VM (for instance scan and repair a database file).
    Questions
Why does all VMs stop responding and why is there such intensive Read/Writes to the iSCSI SAN?
Could it be anything in our setup that cannot handle all the read/write requests? For instance the iSCSI SAN, the hosts, etc?
What can we do about this? Should we use MultiPath IO instead of NIC teaming to the SAN, limit bandwith to the SAN, etc?

    Hi,
    > All VMs are using dynamic disks (as recommended by Microsoft).
If this is a testing environment, it’s okay, but if this a production environment, it’s not recommended. Fixed VHDs are recommended for production instead of dynamically expanding or differencing VHDs.
Hyper-V: Dynamic virtual hard disks are not recommended for virtual machines that run server workloads in a production environment

    > This is the primary host and normaly all VMs run on this host.
According to your posting, we know that you have Cluster Shared Volumes in the Hyper-V cluster, but why not distribute your VMs into two Hyper-V hosts.
Use Cluster Shared Volumes in a Windows Server 2012 Failover Cluster
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612868.aspx
    > 2 teamed NIC dedicated to iSCSI storage.
Use Microsoft MultiPath IO (MPIO) to manage multiple paths to iSCSI storage. Microsoft does not support teaming on network adapters that are used to connect to iSCSI-based storage devices. (At least it’s not supported until Windows Server 2008 R2. Although
Windows Server 2012 has built-in network teaming feature, I don’t article which declare that Windows Server 2012 network teaming support iSCSI connection)

    > I have seen using MPIO suggests using different subnets, is this a requirement for using MPIO
    > or is this just a way to make sure that you do not run out of IP adressess?
What I found is: if it is possible, isolate the iSCSI and data networks that reside on the same switch infrastructure through the use of VLANs and separate subnets. Redundant network paths from the server to the storage system via MPIO will maximize availability
and performance. Of course you can set these two NICs in separate subnets, but I don’t think it is necessary.
    > Why should it be better to not have dedicated wireing for iSCSI and Management?
It is recommended that the iSCSI SAN network be separated (logically or physically) from the data network workloads. This ‘best practice’ network configuration optimizes performance and reliability.
Check that and modify cluster configuration, monitor it and give us feedback for further troubleshooting.

  • Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V network latencies

    Hi All,
I have an issue with our Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V hosts that I can't seem to figure out. Situation:
2 x Dell PowerEdge R815 servers with AMD opteron 6376 16 core CPU's and 128 GB RAM running Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V.
2 virtual machines running on the same physical host and connected to the same virtual switch show high TCP connection latencies. One virtual machines runs a SQL Server 2012 database instance and a Dynamics AX 2012 R2 instance. The other machine a
SharePoint 2013 instance and the AX client. We see latencies of 20ms and higher on most of the TCP connections that are made from the sharepoint machine to the sql server machine.
At first I thought it might have something to do with the physical NIC's. It turned out that VMQ wasn't correctly supported by the firmware of the Broadcom BCM5709c cards. By default this setting is enabled. Turning off the VMQ setting somewhat improved
the situation but the latencies are still at 8ms and higher.
What I don't understand is what influence enabling/disabling VMQ should have on network performance. As I understand it now virtual machines connected to the same virtual switch bypass the physical altogether. Another point is that VMQ should actually improve
    performance, not decrease it.
Another question I have is about the various tcp offloading settings on the physical NIC's. After installing the new firmware and drivers from Dell most of these settings are set to disabled. The documents I have been able to find talk about Windows Server
2008, any thought how these settings relate to Windows Server 2012 and whether they should be enabled?
Thanks in advance for your time and thoughts
    Kind regards,
    Dennes Schuitema

  • Windows 2008 r2 guests blue screen on Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Cluster with e5 2670-v2 processors

    Hello all,
We have a new hyper-v infrastructure deployed in two brand new Dell R720 Servers with 384GB of Memory and dual Intel e5 2670-v2 processors. This infrastructure is replacing an existing hyper-v 2008 R2 and all the guests are being migrated to this new cluster.
The issue we are seeing is our 2008 r2 guests blue screening ocasionally with 0x0000001a,0x0000004e or 0x00000050 bugchecks.
All this guests are configured with dynamic memory and with the integration components up to date. These same guests were running with no problems in the hyper-v 2008r2 cluster.
When searching i found this article from vmware that pretty much describes what we are facing:
    http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2073791
Are you aware of the same problem with this kindd of hardware on windows 2012 r2 hyper-v?
    Thanks!
    Nuno Carvalho

Meanwhile i found this May 2014 update on the intel specification of the CPU we are using:
CA135 Incorrect Page Translation when EPT is enabled
    Problem:
If EPT (Extended Page Tables) is enabled, then a complex sequence of internal processor events may result in unexpected page faults or use of incorrect page translations.
    Implication:
Due to this erratum a guest may crash or experience unpredictable system behavior.
    Workaround:
It is possible for the BIOS to contain a workaround for this erratum.
    Status:
For the affected steppings, see the
    Summary Tables of Changes.
This affects VMware as of the today update of the article i referenced in the first post, what about hyper-v?
