Hi,
 I try restore windows 8.1 from image using windows instalation CD tool but i can't unselect "format disks and repartition".
Can you share a snapshot with us? You want to reinstall Windows? As I know, to repir a system, since you have a Windows 8.1 installation CD, then you can insert the cd to your computer, then configure the computer boot from the CD, follow its guide
to "Repair your computer".

  • Problem in unattended installation of Windows 10 OS image from its ISO

    Hi There,
    I am trying to install unattended Windows 10 OS image from its ISO by unattended.xml. While doing it windows boot screen get stuck at windows setup screen where it ask input for Language, TIme format and Keyboard input method. For same
    process if I use windows 8.1 ISO for installation it works fine. From technet I come to know that Windows 10 has NT DISM version as 6.4 and 8.1 has 6.3.  But I am not getting how I can make these change in my automation..
    We are creating a FLP file which includes (unattended.xml and few other files)and then specify that file to Vmware workstation Windows 10 image floppy drive and Windows 10 iso to DVD drive and then booting the VM.
    Same process works for Windows 8.1 OS unattended installation but it is getting failed for Windows 10.
    Please help.

  • Unable to deploy a Windows 8.1 image using WDS name and approve!

    Hello,
    Hopefully some of you residing Windows 8.1/2012R2 WDS experts are able to answer this question that has been tormenting me for 3 weeks now!
    I have been trying to deploy a custom Windows 8.1 image to a test VM using an answer file and WDS for a mostly unattended process (outside of selecting the image to apply).
    The image and installation process actually works flawlessly if I let WDS handle all known and unknown clients.  The problem comes when I try to "name and approve" the stations.  All I do is enter the name and leave everything else blank
    and/or at their default settings but it always fails no matter the tweaks I've been trying to apply to the answer file, UnsecureJoin true or false with the credentials and whatnot does not matter.  For the sake of simplicity, I'll post the "specialize"
    portion of my answer file which worked using UnsecureJoin without name and approve here:
    <settings pass="specialize">
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-UnattendedJoin" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <Identification>
    <UnsecureJoin>true</UnsecureJoin>
    </Identification>
    </component>
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-Shell-Setup" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <ComputerName>%MACHINENAME%</ComputerName>
    <RegisteredOrganization>Organization</RegisteredOrganization>
    <RegisteredOwner>Utilisateur</RegisteredOwner>
    </component>
    <component name="Microsoft-Windows-International-Core" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <InputLocale>1009:00001009</InputLocale>
    <SystemLocale>en-US</SystemLocale>
    <UILanguage>fr-FR</UILanguage>
    <UserLocale>en-US</UserLocale>
    </component>
    </settings>
    The error I retrieved from C:\Windows\panther\setuperr.log is: "[DJOIN.EXE] Unattended Join: At least one of JoinWorkgroup/JoinDomain must be specified: 0x57".  Thus, I retry with name and approve but by specifying the JoinDomain with the
    %MACHINEDOMAIN% value as such:
    <Identification>
    <UnsecureJoin>true</UnsecureJoin>
    <JoinDomain>%MACHINEDOMAIN%</JoinDomain>
    </Identification>
    This seems weird since WDS should already have this information which is specified in the WDS server properties.  Still, I add the requested information and try again which then gives me the following error fetched from C:\Windows\debug\NetSetup.log:
    "NetpGetDomainData: Failed to find the domain data: 0x6e"
    Anybody else ran into this and know the fix for it?
    Also, as an additional note, not sure if it is relevant, but doing only "Approve" will not work at all either as it gives me the following error when I attempt to do so: "The name provided is not a properly formed account name." despite
    the fact that I've formatted it to use "CVL%MAC" which should pass by fine.

    Hi,
    Firstly, I need to confirm how the name setting got passed? Because according to my test, if the device named uncorrectly, it would prompt the error and couldn't go to next step:
    As far as I know, the naming standard is different between Device Identity and ADDS server naming policy, the second naming policy should be like: %61username%#
    Therefore, please check your PC device name if there is any problem with it. You can also refer to the contents of the link below for more details about Naming Standard:
    http://programming4.us/desktop/21662.aspx
    Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
    For another problem, Unsecure join, according to the contents of the link below. since Vista, shared computer password is a dynamically generated, no need to assign the password manually.

  • Not able to install sysprepped Windows 8.1 image, an OfflineServicing error appears.

    Hello
    I have Windows 8.1 Enterprise image failing at the end of the PE phase from a
    WDS Server. I´ve searching through every related post but nothing solves the issue. My scenario is similar to this one (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7ce4c49d-e8a4-460a-ae17-240daaf5f50e/deploying-a-win7-image-via-wds-fails-with-offlineservicing-error?forum=w7itproinstall),
    but with Windows 8.1 Enterprise instead.
    Basically, I have sysprepped Windows 8.1 and capture the image successfully without any problem. Then, I´ve uploaded the image to my WDS without any unattend xml file, but when trying to install it I get the following error message after completing the "Expanding
    Windows Files" phase:
    “Windows could not apply unattend settings during pass [offlineServicing]”
    I´ve used the official image release, plus the only one partition disk is formatted before the installation. Every configuration seems to be set correctly. I wonder if there is any particular issue related to Windows 8.1.
    I´ve already done this procedure with many other OS images and I´ve never got this error message.
    Furthermore, I also tried to perform the installation with an empty unattend answer file attached to the deployed image, but the error still appears.
    I wonder if the Win8.1 image needs a proper configuration of the unattend answer file, specially on the
    Pass 2 of OfflineServicing. Unfortunately I don´t know how to configure it. I would like to keep the credentials and partition configuration be set manually.
    Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Hello, thanks for the replay but I didn't found any relevant log file on the client machine.
    Unattend mode is unchecked, and I haven't used DISM at all when creating the image. I haven't also opened nor updated any metroApp (although if this were the case, it would raise an issue on sysprep phase).
    X:\Windows\panther directory does not exists; (C: volume is not available at installation phase)
    X:\Windows\diagerr.xml doesn't have any relevant information (it defines some AtrributeType tags with a number in a xml format but it has no content on any tag.)
    X:\windows\tracing\ folder is empty;
    X:\windows\Logs & \Logs\CBS folders are empty;
    I've checked all the volume and I couldn't find any relevant log which shows an error on the instalation.
    In addition, I tried to look into WDS server, but the Enable Log property that the article refers for Windows Server 2012 (WDS is installed in a Windows Server 2012), is not shown at the
    EventViewer - Deployment-Services-Diagnostics section. Plus, I search the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Tracing\WDSMGMT
    entry in order to enable it, but it does not exist.
    WDS worked and is working without any issue regardless this Windows 8.1 image. I don't think it has a somthing to do with its configuration.
    Looking forward to hearing from you.

  • Window detected a hard disk Problem on my Satellite L505-S5988

    Hi,
    I have a Toshiba Satellite L505-S5988 with window 7 Home Premium 09 Service pack 1.  It is 2+ years old and my hard drive is Toshiba MK3263GSX 287GB.  Lately, I got a window warning message as “ Windows detected a hard disk Problem.  Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss, and then contact the computer manufacturer to determine if you need to repair or place the disk…..  The following hard disks are reporting failure:  Disk Name: TOSHIBA MK3263GSX Volume: C:\  “.
    Since then, I have imaged my laptop and run malware/spyware softwares, and it looks like my computer is clean.  The laptop device manager said my hard drive is working properly.  However the warning keeps pops up.  I opened Administrative Event Viewer and found the below warning:
    “Log Name: System,   Source: Disk,    Event ID: 52.
    The driver has detected that device \Device\Harddisk0\DR0 has predicted that it will fail. Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.”

    D000000000000000000000000
    Besides this warning,  there are also other errors and warnings back to years ago, such as AFS failed to load, print service…  Despite all these errors and warnings, my laptop seems to be running OK.  I was not prevented from doing anything that I usually do.
    Questions:
    Is there a tool I can run to verify that my hard drive is truly bad?
    Can any tool further identify where?
    Can it be repaired? Reformat? Or I have to replace with a new one?
    What options I have if I have to replace with a new one?
    What is average cost of it?
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    ..the warning keeps pops up.
    That's good enough for me. I would replace the disk.

  • Windows 7 on MacBook Pro Retina late 2013. Showing popup window as "Windows detected a hard disk problem"

    I have installed Windows 7 64 bit version in my MacBook Pro Retina(13") late 2013 model . It was working fine from last 8 months but recently popup window showing as "Windows detected a hard disk problem" once login. Please check the following image.
    I have contacted Apple Support team. They have tested the hard disk while booting from Mac OS and all the reports showing as hard disk is fine. Then I thought might be it was some virus and removed the Bootcamp partition and re-installed Windows 7 Operating System. But once updated Windows 7 with latest updates. This message showing again.
    Would you please help me out to fix this issue. Anybody faced similar issue?

    No I think that all drive are really on failure
    I've boot with an ubuntu livecd and smartmontools see also the failure.

    The 3 Mac are used for less than 6 month !!!!

  • My iMac 27" Late 2012 has Image Persistence Problem

    I'm wondering what to do about an annoying image persistence problem on my 27" late 2012 iMac. I got the iMac just a few days ago. Monday actually, so 4 days ago.
    It's the 3.4GHz i7, 8GB, NVIDIA 680MX 1TB fusion drive model.
    Overall it has become the love of my life, but the image persistence thing is getting harder to ignore. This happens after only a few minutes of use. If I follow Apple's instruction on dealing with LCD image persistence, I can make it go away for a while, but it comes back very quickly.
    It is extremely noticeable on a plan dark background. It looks as thought he screen has been left on for a very long time with the same windows open, but it occurrs in less than 5 minutes of use with nothing more intense than a bit of web surfing.
    I've read that this is happening a great deal on these new iMacs, particularly teh 27" machines.
    While the problem seems to be known to those of us afflicted I don't know if Apple has acknowledged an issue or not.
    Here is a sample of the complaints: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1509571
    I can make the ghost image vanish by bringing up an all white scree for a minute or so or using LCD Scrub.
    I'm wondering if anyone else has foun a solution other than asking for a replacement computer, which Apple seems to be granting on this issue?

    Avoiding image persistence on Apple (IPS) displays
    Avoiding image persistence on Apple LCD displays
    If you cannot resolve the issue yourself, then return the computer for a replacement. You may do this freely within 14 days from date of purchase, so don't delay.

  • Any way to open new browser window without using image maps?

    Is there any way to open new browser window without using image maps? My code works fine in Firefox, but not in IE. There are 2 problems in IE: 1st is that the thumbnail images move up within their own borders & 2nd that when you click on an image it does open up a new browser window, but also redirects to the index page (in this case it's just a placeholder index page - the new one I've called index_new.html for the time being).
    Here is the link:
    http://www.susieharperdesigns.com/gallery_beads.html
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Your missing a value on the HREF.  In your code you have this:
    <area shape="rect" coords="-24,-9,106,144" href=" " onclick="MM_openBrWindow('gallery_bead1.html','','width=255,height=360')" />
    </map></div>
    and it should be this:
    <area shape="rect" coords="-24,-9,106,144" href="javascript:void()" onclick="MM_openBrWindow('gallery_bead1.html','','width=255,height=360')" />
    </map></div>
    If you fix the code on all your beads, it should work.

  • Problem: codebase, jar and image reloading problem please help!

    Hi Java Gurus,
    I have written an applet that extends JApplet for viewing webcam. In order to reduce the download time I put my classes into a doorcam.jar file. The following is my <applet> tag in my html file.
    <applet code="CameraApplet.class"
    archive="doorcam.jar"
         codebase = "webcam/classes"
         width="375" height="475">
    <param name="imagePath" value="http://judge/webcam/images">
    <param name="webCamImage" value="door.jpg">
    <param name="COMPort" value="COM2">
    <param name="frameRate" value="10"> <!-- could not exceed more than 10-->
    <param name="host" value="judge">
    </applet>
    The fist problem is that my class file does not get loaded from the jar file if i provide the "codebase" attribute as above. Instead the browser load every single class file from the webserver. This has some problem too. Coz the browser sometimes just thorough NullPointerException or ClassNotFoundException. After much of debugging I found out that the problem is the IE browser which seldom fails to load classes or image file from the server. If i referesh the browser the applet and all its classes loaded successfully and runs smoothly. This behaviour never occurs when running with "appletviewer".
    I wanted all my classes to be loaded from my jar file. After much of trial and error I found out that if i remove "codebase" attribute the browser loads the classes from my jar file and applet loads very fast. This is where the second problem comes in. The browser does not reload my webcam image file so that the webcam become alive with live images, like before.
    If I run on "appletviewer" everything works fine my web cam is displayed properly. But in IE browser the image does not get reloaded when I refresh my image to give live to my webcam display. The refresh method is given below.
    private void refresh(final URL url) {
    Image webCamImage =getImage(url);
    webCamImage.flush(); // flush out the previous image
    webCamImage = getImage(url); // get a new image
    webCamImageIcon.setImage(webCamImage); webCamImageIcon.paintIcon(webCamLabel, webCamLabel.getGraphics(), 15, 15);
    When I add the "codebase" attribute back, the image gets reloaded for every refresh() and everything works fine. But the classes are also loaded from the server. And occasionally also suffers Class loading and image loading problem. As I presented earlier, when I do refreshing in the browser everything gets loaded and the applet function correctly with web cam displaying very well.
    The problem is so strange that I could not find any way to solve it.
    It would be a great help to me if somebody provide me some work around to the problem.
    I tested on Windows 2000, Windows XP, IE 5.5, IE 6 with J2SDK 1.4.0.
    Thank you all very much in advance.
    best regards,
    Judge

    Thank you so much for the suggestions. I did tried the way u suggested. The problem still the same.
    I think its the problem between IE browser and Java Plug-in.
    I which SUN would find these incompatibilities and solve these problems.
    I even tried using java SDK and plug-in 1.4.1 it even worst. It can't even load an applet. And it does not show any loading messages nor any error messages. It just show a cross sign on the upper left coner.
    I would be so glad, if Sun would try to eliminate the inconsistancies such as caching, loading, initializing etc between browser and its Java plug-In. For example, applets behave well in appletviewer and behave unpredictably in browser environment.
    I have seen so many people in the forums with all sorts of problems because of this.
    Right now I m desperately looking for work around to my problem.
    If somebody would provide me with the solution to my problem it would be a great help to me.
    thank you all so much.
    best regards,
    Judge

  • Photoshop crashes while using multiple windows with one image

    Has anyone else encountered the following problem:
    Photoshop CS4 crashes sooner or later when working with multiple windows with one image (window->arrange->new window for...).
    I remember having same problem since CS2. Is this a bug in Photoshop or am I having a bad luck?
    Technical specifics:
    Ps CS4, iMac, 21.5, 10.6

    Don't know.  I haven't heard of other people having that problem.
    Do you have a crash report I could look at?
    Or have you attached your email to crash reports sent to Adobe and can you tell me the date on one of them?

  • Windows 2012R2 Server Image. Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file.

    Hello!
    When I try to deploy Windows Server 2012R2 64bit on a local machine from my WDS server. I get this error :
    "Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance"
    This message appear at the last step of the installation. (Finishing Install)
    When I burn the image to a DVD I can install it problem free on my Machines. But when I capture said image and try to deploy it, this message appears.
    The same message also appears when I try to deploy a Windows 8.1 image.
    If I try to install this image with an unattended file. I get an error during "Install features" that there was a problem in "offline Servicing" even tough that field is Empty in my XML file.
    The server i'm using has Windows 2012 standard 64bit. And the Image files was downloaded through MSDN.

    Glad to hear the issue has been resolved.

  • MDT 2010 Windows 7 custom image import problelm

    I am unable to import a Windows 7 OS from a wim image file any more. I get "Path 'C:\Distribution\Operating Systems\Old OS Folder' does not exist" when I try to import. I believe the folder it is looking for was one where I had imported a custom image with setup files. I have since added Windows 7 operating systems from the DVD for source files and had deleted the image operating system it is looking for. I can still import a Windows XP custom image just fine.
    It is creating the folder and copying the wim, but it does not show up in the Deployment Workbench under operating systems. Any ideas? I assume the problem is coming from having imported the wim with setup files previously.

    Hi,
    just came across similar problem.
    Custom .wim image not visible after importing to MDT.
    imagex /info returns long wim description for another custom wim but much shorter for this one.
    I tried to change wim name and description property - but nothing worked for me.
    So I applied the original image to folder and then recaptured it with imagex I am using (newest WAIK).
    Now the imagex /info is ok.
    Btw you cannot notice the difference with
    dism /Get-WimInfo
    It is now visible in MDT.
    Can you please explain what you did.
    i am using image capture cd generated using SCCM to capture the wim file.
    1 image i imported successfully. Every image since then after import it does not show up in deployment workbench. i have no idea what to do.

  • Henging at log in window with new image client OS 10.4.8

    Hello everyone
    I need help to solve this problem.
    I upgraded OS Server 10.3.9 to OS Server 10.4.8. Everything worked well so far.
    Alle client machines with OS 10.3.9 (old image) did not heng at the log in window, but NEW IMAGE with OS client 10.4.8
    I tried to use some accounts (which are already created by the old image) to log in the new image. It just hang at the log in window.
    Why and what should I do now?
    Please don´t tell me to do Server from beginning, because it is over 400 users
    Thank you

    Still having problems?
    Please be more verbose about your setup. What images? What accounts are created by the old image? Where are they created?
    How can accounts living in OS 10.4 Server's LDAP database be created by the (old) image of a OS X Client OS? I'd expect them to be created through Workgroupmanager.app.
    And so on...

  • GTA 4 on windows 7 BOOT camp texture problem, macbook pro 13 january 2011 help .

    GTA 4 on windows 7 BOOT camp texture problem, macbook pro 13 january 2011 help .
    any
    my problem looks like this
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGzgS57THMo
    gta 4 steam !

    If GTA IV believes the system is under specification even though the computer is powerful enough to run the game with higher settings, the following will fix this problem.
    This will work if your problem looks like this: "resource usage 230/60" and you can't change any other setting
    Just follow the steps:
    Step 1: Create a text file named ‘commandline.txt’ (without the " ")
    Step 2: Put the following statement inside it:
    i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 (with the -)
    i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0 (with the -)
    Step 3: Open the main GTAIV folder (C/ program files (86)/ rockstar games/ GTA IV) and copy the commandline.txt file into it.
    Step 4: locate the file "GTAIV.exe" (in GTA main folder)
    Right click the file and select Properties
    Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target
    Modify the Target adding the command line after the last quotation mark (just add the statement you added in commandline.txt)
    (remember, i5 users: -availablevidmem 18.0 / i7 users: -availablevidmem 22.0)
    It should look something like this:
    Make sure to add space between " and -"
    I hope This helps, although late cx
