  • Windows 7 + iTunes incompatibility.

I just downloaded the latest version of itunes onto a beatsaudio envy laptop. However, when i click on the icon it wont open. I then right click on the icon and click "troubleshoot compatablity" it then basically tells me that it is incompatible, nothing else. I have deselected the compatibility option, and also tried opening it with system administrator. Please help!

    Agreed.
I have a Dell laptop with i5 chip running windows 7 64 bit version.
After I installed Windows 7 Service Pack 1, my iTunes would not recognise my iPhone 3.
After various troubleshooting steps involving the phone, iTunes and checking for other software compatibility issues, I was at a loss.
On a whim I uninstalled the Windows Service Pack, and my iTunes and iPhone are both happy again.

  • A55M-P33 and windows xp 32bit incompatibility issue ?

Ok I got a weird one that seems to be more of a compatibility issue than bad parts...
    Motherboard: A55M-P33 MS-7786 V1.0
    CPU: AMD A4 3400
    RAM: Kingston 4GB 10600  KVR1333D3N9/4G
HDD: Western Digital 500GB Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX
PSU: CoolerMaster Elite Power 400w  RS-400-PSAR
OS: Windows XP Home SP3 32bit
On a clean install of windows I am getting various bsods.  Typically after I install a few round of drivers.  Usually am able to get the dotnetframework + catalyst control center (chipset) drivers installed without incident.  Seemingly about the time I either install the NIC or the SOUND drivers do I start seeing problems.  Sometimes its 0x8e sometimes its 0x50 sometimes i dont get a bluescreen but on startup i get the infamous missing or corrupt /windows/system32/config/system ... I can always boot from a XP disc and run chkdsk /p to get it to startup, but soon thereafter the problem reoccurs (sometimes immediately with the next reboot).  I've tried to use 2 other hard drives, one a brand new WD 1TB, another is a used tester drive we have laying around here.. both have similar results.  I've tried to update the bios to the latest revision (1.4) but that didnt make a difference.
Here's the real kicker, I have another PC with almost IDENTICAL hardware (only difference is hard drive) (also of which I havnt spent nearly as much time with as this one) that gets a 0x0A bsod.  All the hardware in both PCs are brand new (unless where otherwise noted).
Is there some sort of compatibility issue with this hardware and windows xp?  I've let memtest86 run on both PCs for about 24 hours with 0 errors.  Diagnostic on all hard drives mentioned turns up no issues..  I've tried different (new) sata cables as well.  Any insight or any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

here is the latest minidump.  clean install of xp.  installed dotnetframework then chipset drivers - both from CD included with mobo.  restarted the pc about 5 times to get this to occur, happened on shut down.

  • Windows 8.1 64 bit installs 32 bit browser (Internet Explorer 11) but user would go on installing 64 bit programs which 32 bit browser (Internet Explorer 11) rejects, how to stop this?

For many days I searched for answer of how an Internet Explorer add-on installed because few websites won't run without it, but Windows OS or Internet Explorer itself won't allow install of these add-ons.
    Please note following problems:
    1. Windows 8.1 64 bit operating system installs 32 bit Internet Explorer 11, but this 32 bit Internet Explorer won't accept 64 bit add-ons which I tried to install for 64 bit Windows 8.1, incompatibility of 64 bit and 32 bit which
I knew already but didn't clicked even on posting forum questions not before 'ORACLE's message in yellow.
    2. For 64 bit Windows I kept on trying to install 64 bit add-ons for Internet Explorer, which won't install or would send message 'Incompatible', once default installations of these add-on's are disturbed but not completely uninstalled, new installations
won't be entertained at all, only way is reinstall of Internet Explorer.
    3. Therefore I installed Apple's 'Safari', which also displayed same messages, but allowed install of 'Quick Time', and now I listen to my favourite songs on a great sound system of a website.
    4. Windows needs correction for this.
    Best of Luck.

Use the 32-bit version of IE. All rivals are 32-bit, no need for x64, a browser is not so big.

  • Windows 8.1 64-bit: PDF icons in File Explorer fail to show

On my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit it seems impossible for File Explorer to create thumbnails of my PDF files.
I use Adobe Acrobat X as my default PDF application.
I did some thorough research to find a solution. I expected a simple fix, but the problem persists hence this post.
There is only one work-around that works (from Adobe Community link below):
If you click Open in Acrobat
In the Explorer window select show large icons
Thumbnails will be created which will be visible in File Explorer.
My problem with the work-around is the extra work required to generate thumbnails. I have many PDF's whose front page thumbnail I use to select my file of choice.
    What fix have I over-looked?
    Cheers.
    Dave---
    I applied all these solutions:
Icon cache rebuildRemoved IconCache.db in %localappdata%
File Explorer > Options > View "Always show icons, never thumbnails"= off
Default application to open PDF Set to Adobe Acrobat in File Explorer
Default PDF handler set in Adobe Acrobat:
    Click Edit > Preferences…
Click the button Select Default PDF handler
Click Apply. Acrobat will start an installer and processes the configuration changes.
Checked system with sfc /scannowNo problem detected
    Removed thumbnails with Disk Clean-up

  • Illustrator CS6 constantly crashing on Windows 7 system, triggered by the navigator. Anyone else??

    Hello,
I have now been experiencing this problem for the past 7 months (since using a PC in my current position on a Windows 7 operating system). It is incredibly frustrating! I had previously used a Mac, and continue to do so at home and do not have this problem.
Whenever I use the navigation tool in Illustrator CS6, and have done so for a sustained period of time (for example moving across 3+ artboards), Illustrator crashes without warning. I get a message window that says 'Illustrator has encountered a problem and needs to close.' Then when you press OK, it freezes and quite often I have to manually restart the PC by holding the power button down as CS6 is unresponsive in Task Manager, or I have to log out and back in again. I only realised the link with the Navigation tool after this repeatedly happened, up to 4 times a day on average and I kept a log to record what I was doing at that moment. I have only retained my sanity with the help of auto-save. Prior to this I would lose hours of work a day.
I saw on a similar thread on this forum that said the bug could be triggered by the use of a Wacom tablet (I have an Intuos 3 with the latest drivers) so I tried working with a mouse for 2 weeks and although the problem happened slightly less frequently, it still happened. Therefore I wondered if perhaps the Wacom just increased the speed of the navigator and aggravated the problem. I also read it could be triggered by an Nvidia graphics card, so I installed a Radeon HD6570 but the problem remained.
Now fast-forward 7 months and I have a whole new system, a brand new PC with 8GB RAM and 3 GHZ processor speed in a last chance attempt to rule out any hardware link. Unfortunately, it has just happened AGAIN. Now I have eliminated any link to hardware, it is clearly a software problem (Namely Windows 7/CS6 incompatibility). A similar problem has also been listed on the Adobe site in which it claimed it would be fixed with an update, but after downloading this the bug is still there.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? And even though Adobe are aware of it...when can I expect an update that fixes the problem? I can't be the only one. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

    Hello,
Why did you say nothing has changed? Does that mean it was working but now it's not?
Do you have a folder called c:\temp? If so rename it to c:\myTemp. If you don't then search for your \Temp folders and delete any XML files, DO NOT DELETE ALL XML files.
Make sure you are logged in as a local PC administrator, disconnect your network cable, disable your anti-virus and then do a  repair install on Crystal Reports

  • Unexpected permission "feature" in Windows 7

I stumbled upon an unexpected permissions "feature" of Windows 7.  I was testing some ActiveX code used to write an Excel spreadsheet, and got a crash when I tried to close my file.  The same code worked just fine on my Windows XP machine, and it didn't matter if I used LabVIEW 8.6 or LabVIEW 2009.
Both machines were set up in the "standard" manner, and I was running as the sole user in an account with Administrator privileges.  My test file was C:\Test.xls.  When I invoked the ActiveX Close, I got an unknown error (-2146877284, which LabVIEW said was "unknown", but occurred in Excel).
When I examined the permissions for C:, I discovered that (for both XP and 7) the group "Users" has Read, but not Write, permissions, while "Administrators" have both Read and Write.  XP seems to allow the write, so works without errors.  Windows 7 may "want" to pop up the UAC window (which it definitely does not do), but I'm guessing that it is both ignoring my Administrator credentials and generating an "unknown" error call.
To test this theory, I wrote another routine to try to write a text file using standard LabVIEW VIs.  When I do a File Open with the Create option for a file on the root of the C: drive, I get Error 8 (File Permission error), which at least makes sense (after the fact).
I've brought this to the attention of the NI Support Team (who helped me figure this out).  If this is, indeed, the UAC getting into the fray, it would be "nice" if LabVIEW could notify us ...

In retrospect, I agree this is "expected behavior in Windows 7".  It
was completely unexpected by me, in part because it arose in a curious
context.  I originally developed my code on Windows XP, and made use of
the ability to right-click an ActiveX property node and get "Help for
Close" (for example).  In addition, the code I developed worked fine in
the early version where I did not try to write the results to a
file.  When I moved it to Windows 7, the right-click help was missing,
and seemed to be OS-specific.  As it happened, I was trying to add the
"Close" ability to save the file, and to simplify the path, I used
C:\Test.xls (much easier to type than C:\Users\Robert Schor\My
Documents\Test.xls), and had to go back to my XP machine to find out
descriptions for the arguments of the Close command.  So when the
program failed with an error message that was "off the wall" (referring
to an error code of -214682784, as well as a file name of C:\2CE93000),
I made the (logical?) assumption that this was "another Windows
7/LabVIEW incompatibility" bug/feature.  This was, of course, bolstered
by the observations that things worked under Windows XP and both
    "failures" occurred in Windows 7.
    It would be "nice" to
fix the problem with Help to work with Windows 7.  It would also be
"nice" to arrange to trap UAC-produced "errors" and have LabVIEW return
an error code such as 8 (even nicer would be to add an error code that
says "Windows UAC prevented access to this file").

  • ITunes causing problems when downloaded to windows 8

I downloaded iTunes to my new Toshiba which came with Windows 8.  It recognized my iPad no problem, however, the next day my computer kept turning itself off and then restarting every 3 or 4 minutes.  The Toshiba tech help said it was because Windows has made Windows 8 incompatible with iTunes.  We did a factory reset on my computer but I would really like to have iTunes on it.  I haven't heard anything else like this, has anyone here?

Sorry I found this so late, its March 5th 2013 and yes the issue is the same. Basically iTunes and Windows 8 are incompatable.
I had to so the same and spent the next 2 days re-installing everything. I made this same mistake twice, thinking" oh no thats not possible, Apple would never relase that" ..well they did and it needs to be fixed. I will email them and bring this to their attention.
Basically after I installed iTunes and my DVD drives ( I have 3) disappeared and my registry was corrupted.
Fortunately I have  True Image and had a back up image.
So folks, out there if you have Windows 8 Pro and an Intel chipset, what has been your experience after installing the latest iTunes??
For my part, I have dual boot with Windows 7 on it, , the latest iTunes works fine.

  • RoboHelp HTML Output not compatible with IE 10/11

    Hi,
My team is facing an issue with the WebHelp output generated using RoboHelp 11 (11.0.1.235). When we try to open the Output in IE 10 and IE 11, they work fine. But, when the Dev and QA teams try from their machines, the pages are just blank. This issue continues after integrating the Help with the application. The Dev team uses a RoboHelp patch (a .exe file) to perform the integration. Can anyone guide us on what is causing this issue? We are not quite sure if it is because of any settings or configurations or because of the patch used by the Dev team. We tried deleting the cache and history on IE.
As we have a release coming soon, any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

@lagonkd In an offline email you advised me...
My problem (and the interesting workaround):
    1. I would launch my WebHelp index.htm file. My Online help Welcome page and TOC would display perfectly.
    2. Any topic I selected in the TOC would display a blank page.
    3. I performed many, many suggestions you and others had in forums...nothing worked. (Yes, I literally beat my forehead against my desk today....)
    4. Pulled my IT guy in to see if it was an imaging problem or Windows security update incompatibility issue.
    5. We right-clicked the top of the browser bar (right-clicking the Menu bar works too). When the toolbars menu popped up, we deselected one of the toolbar options to make space....magically, the blank topic page displayed its content and the online help worked fine after that.
    6. We exited the WebHelp folder, then reopened it. The issues in steps 1 and 2 above occurred again. We performed the toolbar action, and again, the blank page displayed its content and the online help worked perfectly afterwards. Any toolbar option selected or deselected would bring up the hidden content. It appears that you must perform the toolbar action once each time you open the WebHelp folder...
You have tacked on to an existing thread and I cannot see anywhere that you have mentioned which version of Rh you are using. There was a version where when you opened the help it displayed a blank page but if you resized the window, it then displayed. I think that when you change the toolbars displayed it is having the same effect as resizing the window did. I believe the problem was resolved with a patch for that version.

  • Is Win 7 64-bit causing this?

I have a new system based on Windows 7 64-bit.  It has 4GB RAM, fast Intel CPU, Intel SSD drive along with large regular hard disk, Nvidia video card.
The other day I downloaded the trial version of Premiere Elements 8 to see if I could use the Stabilizer effect to fix our HD camcorder videos of our kids.
Photoshop Elements 8 seems to be working fine (other than the Smart Tags appear even though I thought I shut off Auto Analyzer).
After trying about 5 times no success.  Each time I open the video file and try to apply the Stabilizer Effect the rendering progress bar at the bottom right of the screen freezes up between 1% and 50%.   I tried the various fixes mentioned on this forum like replacing the 6 DLL files in PrE8.   Also did the thread optimization changes to the Nvidia driver.
Not sure if I'm doing this right.  I am a total newbie when it comes to PrE8.
I Open a new project, give it a name, open the media file (about 3 minute long HD camcorder clip), drag it to the timeline.  It starts to render the file at that point but I go ahead and drag the Stabilizer effect thumbnail onto the video clip on the timeline, the rendering progress bar falls back to zero then starts progressing again.  Every single time it locks up eventually before finishing.
I even tried using various XP compatibility modes on my Windows 7 but that's total disaster.  The rendering progress bar doesn't seem to move at all.
Is this a Windows 7 64bit incompatibility issue or is it something else?
I was going to purchase Premiere Elements 8 but won't unless I can make some progress here.  The way it is now, it's totally useless to me.

Downloaded the latest beta drivers from Nvidia.  These were mentioned in another post by an Adobe employee stating they would fix many of the issues for Windows 7 64 bit users.
The first time I ran Premiere Elements 8 the screen went whitewashed and said PrE8 was not responding.  I closed the program.
However, when I ran the program again it worked fine.  It rendered everything without locking up which it never did before.
I even ran it a 3rd time on another video file and it rendered all the effects fine again without any lockups.
Wonder if Windows 7 automatically kicks in some kind of compatibility mode after the program locked up the first time?
I'll try to get around to doing some more testing but meanwhile it seems like the problems I have been having were at least substantially
cured by a new Nvidia driver.  Hopefully Nvidia will make some further improvements and make that driver an official release.
If you have Windows 7 64bit and are running into issues I suggest you definitely try the latest beta Nvidia driver.
    Thanks to everyone who posted.

  • Beta 2 Installer bug.

No Installer icon on Vista x64, Win 7 x64 Sown during installation proces in TaskBar.

Sorry to hear you ran into an installation problem. Catalyst Beta II currently supports the following operations systems:
Microsoft® Windows® XP with SP2 or greater, Windows Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (tested with 32-bit Windows XP and Windows Vista)
An incompatibility with Vista x64 or Win 7 x64 may be causing the installation issue. When you say there is no installer icon, do you mean you don't see the installer file once you download Catalyst on these systems? Can you elaborate on what happens when you try to install?
    Thanks,
    Ty

  • No signal with Z97 Gaming 5 + HD7850

    Hi,
First post here so if there's something to add to it, tell me
So I bought an upgrade kit which had an i5 4670k with a Z97 Gaming 5 and 8gb RAM. It looks like this now :
    Board: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
    Bios: Version 1.2
    VGA:   Sapphire HD7850 2Go
    PSU:   Corsair TX650w (52A - 624W)
    Intel Core i5-4670k
    MEM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 2x4Gb
    HDD: Samsung 840 120Go + Seagate Barracuda 4To + SanDisk SSD 120Go
    COOLER: all stock
    OS: Windows 7 64bit Professional
My problem is, since I have this new kit, my PC doesn't want to work anymore with my HD7850. I made a fresh install of Windows incase of incompatibility with my old AMD CPU but now, when I try to boot the computer, nothing shows on screen. To make it work, I have to unplug it and boot with the Intel Graphics 4600 inside my CPU, which is not optimal for gaming
I checked with an old HD4850 and it seemed to boot up correctly, but not with the HD7850.
Something I don't understand is it worked one time. I could play 4h straight with the new Wolfenstein, then the next day the same thing happened.
My motherboard shows no error code on the LED chip, as it boots up as usual except there's no video signal.
I'm asking here some help since I have no clue of what is happening
    Thanks

So I tried to CMOS, I guess it changed something because it booted and I could use Windows until I launched World of Warcraft.
BlueScreen with "Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed", so I guess there's a problem somewhere :p
I checked my graphic card downloads options, and there's only downloads like "Catalyst" and HydroVision thing. So I guess there's no options for a vbios update. I'll send them a mail but a 2-year old graphic card and from what I saw on Internet and forums, they really don't care about it :/

  • Incompatibility between JDK 1.4 and Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer

I have noticed an incompatibility between JPG files that are output from Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer and read in by JDK 1.4 (or 1.4.1). In particular, when an image is transfered from a digital camera to a Windows XP machine, then rotated and saved in the Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer, the resulting image file appears with corrupted colors when read and saved by the ImageIO class in JDK 1.4.
    Here is my code:
         import java.awt.image.BufferedImage;
         import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
         BufferedImage buffImg = ImageIO.read (new File ("in.jpg"));
         ImageIO.write (buffImg, "jpg", new File ("out.jpg"));
I have also output the file with graphics format PNG and seen similar apparent corruption of colors.
This is an image that was loaded onto Windows XP from a digital camera then rotated 90 degrees and saved with the Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer:
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/verticalOrig.jpg
Here is the same image read and written by JDK 1.4 ImageIO.read() and ImageIO.write():
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/verticalJavaOut.jpg
Note that the colors appear corrupted in the above image.
This is an image copied directly from a Sony Cybershot DSC - P71 digital camera:
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/horizontalOrig.jpg
Here is the same image read and written by JDK 1.4 ImageIO.read() and ImageIO.write():
    http://www.adigitalsolution.net/pics/horizontalJavaOut.jpg
It appears fine (brilliant tropical colors).
Note that both images contain the "EXIF" header, which is the JPEG-like format used by many digital cameras. Some may say that the JDK 1.4 spec does not support EXIF, but the image not touched by Windows XP was read successfully. And other image editing programs read in both successfully, such as PaintshopPro and the Mozilla 1.0 web browser. But there is a specific incompatibility with JDK 1.4.
I have reproduced this problem on Windows NT 4 and Red Hat Linux 7.3 using an image file that was saved on Windows XP.
Here is a warning from Nikon about the behavior of Windows XP Fax and Picture Viewer:
    http://www.dpreview.com/news/0112/01121402nikonxpwarnings.asp
    Does anybody know a workaround?

This is scary and explains why some of my Exif headers are trashed.
I would guess the problem has something to do with XP not writing the file back out 100% true to the JPEG spec.
Really annoying that they do this. They think they can just hack up and change standards that are not their own. Take their FTP client in Windows XP. Talk about a broken client.
My suggestion is to dis-associate jpegs with XP's image and fax viewer. Instead associate them with Mozilla.
