Windows 8.1 Install blocked by Application Virtualization Desktop Client

When I try to install Windows 8.1 from the store I get an error message that I need to uninstall the Microsoft Application Virtualization Desktop Client.  But when I check control panel to uninstall the application it does not exist in the list.
When I choose to have the installation uninstall it doesn't work.
Bottom line I am stuck where the install is asking me to uninstall another application which I don't believe I have installed.

The Application Virtualization client will be related to Microsoft Office Home and Student 2010. Here's how to update that version of Office: http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/excel-help/update-repair-or-uninstall-office-click-to-run-products-HA010382089.aspx
Ensure any available updates are applied (I'd also check Windows Update) and reboot before trying the Upgrade Assistant again.
This
page suggests that this version of Office 2010 should be compatible with Windows 8, so hopefully ensuring you've installed all available updates should fix the issue.

  • How to utilise forms installed in Oracle9i Application Server from client

    Dear Friends,
    I have installed Oracle 9i Application Server and Forms 5.0 Reports 3.0 in the application server. How to make use of application server so that forms installed in it available to end users, the client. What are the steps i need to do. Please explain.

    Forms 5 & Reports 3 in Developer 2.1 have been desupported for a number of years now. If you haven't already figured out how to get it working on the web, download the Forms & Reports Services Standalone version of the 10g Application Server. It has Forms & Reports properly configured after the instalaltion. Just look under the Demonstrations tab of the home page and click to run either Forms or Reports on the web. You can customize your setup afterwards for your application. Of course you'll need to upgrade your application.
    You can find this download at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
    under "Forms & Reports Services Standalone"
    It is a 1 CD download.

  • [Windows 8.1] Installing Microsoft Store Application Developer Program (MSADP) Applications

    Hi,
    In the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Device Management Protocol document, the installation of MSADP applications is mentioned.
    I tried to obtain the information in regard to MSADP on the internet, but not success.
    Are there any web sites or official documents available for MSADP?
    I don't even know if the program is available to all the countries in the world...

    The program is designed to help facilitate the pre-install of apps in large institutional device deals, currently piloted for Education.
    To give you some background, Windows Store apps are obtained by individuals logging into the Windows Store and obtaining apps on an individual basis through a Microsoft Account (MSA). The Microsoft Application Deployment Program was created to help facilitate
    unblocking Educational customers where MSA restrictions prevent institutions from obtaining apps.

  • TO DO Application with desktop Client

    I have found one program this will be offering a desktop client, Things, but its not available yet. Does anyone else know of one out there? Everything that is available uses a web based program.

    I ended up using Jott for to do lists. The iPhone is extremely flexibly and free. Lets you create multiple lists, have reminders, etc. Can mark items as priority. Also lets you call a toll-free number and uses voice transcription to send you an email or add an item to one of your to-do lists. There is a basic level free service for voice transcription plus various for-pay upgrades. I'm really happy with this app - it is very stable. The fact it syncs with the web and can sync to desktop clients as well is another plus. There is a entry on my blog about Jott:

  • Turning on Intel-VT for Windows 7 to install XP Mode virtualization

    Hi:
    I have the 13.3" MacBook Air 2010, 2.13GH CPU, 256GB RAM Disk, 4GB RAM. I installed BootCamp successfully to run a dual-boot system partitioned as: 160 GB for Win7 and 92GB for OSX. I install 64-bit Applications as much as possible, though some Win7 are still 32-bit. I find I still need a couple of Applications that will no longer be upgraded and that run under WinXP. So, I would like to install Windows 7 "XP Mode" to handle this situation.
    I do not wish to install VMWare. The CPU from Intel has Intel-VT. I need to insure that this function is ENABLED in order for virtualization using Windows XP Mode runs properly. As I cannot see how to access the BIOS as I might under an HP computer, I need help from Apple to see how to enable Intel-VT.
    I suspect that Bootcamp has supplied me some drivers. I do not know where to look.
    Apple; will you help so that I can install Windows 7's XP Mode form of virtualization? Thank You.

    Answers: 1) Yes, 2) Yes.
    As for the tip, that does work--if you run Palm Desktop, from which you can launch HotSync Manager (at least in 6.2). You can't run just HotSync Manager alone since it resides in the system tray and not the taskbar, and in order to attach the Palm to USB you need access to an app on the taskbar.

  • In XP Mode on Windows 7, after installing application as like I would normally on an actual XP system, application will not start in windows XP mode itself.

    Just did a clean install of windows 7.  I then downloaded windows XP mode and Windows Virtual Mode.  Everything ran flawlessly and everything is updated.  I needed to Install a program called Dentrix 10.5 which can only be installed on Windows
    XP for numerous reasons and one including it needing to use Microsoft .NET 1.0.  I installed this program on Windows XP Mode as I would as if I were installing it with a computer with windows XP.  The Install of the program went fine and completed.
     Still being in Windows XP Mode I wanted to see how it would run.  I hit Start Menu, All Programs, Startup Programs, and clicked on the Dentrix Application.  Once I clicked it the time glass on the  mouse was there for a few seconds and
    then went away without the application starting up at all.  One thing that I'm thinking is why after I clicked Start Menu, All programs, is why was Dentrix not in its own folder and instead in the Startup programs after All programs?  Any Ideas how
    to get the program to run?  Like I said, I am trying to run the program in Windows XP Mode and not Windows 7 as I have found many Q's and A's on only how to do that.  Also this is the second application which I downloaded and the first being Microsoft
    Security Essentials so I know I don't have some virus from keeping from opening the Dentrix Application.  Incase you are wondering the Microsoft Security Essentials opens and runs fine in Windows XP Mode.  So Pretty Much My Main question is: Why
    my application not starting up in Windows XP Mode?  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Once I clicked it the time glass on the mouse was there for a few seconds and then went away without the application starting up at all.
    A couple times a week I open Dentrix 11.0 in a virtual machine on Windows 7. I experience the same thing almost every time I open the VM. I must first get Windows to "reconnect" my network for me. Do this by opening Start | My Computer, and
    double-click on the mapped network drive leading to the Dentrix data. After I can see the Dentrix data drive, Dentrix will be able to read it too and will open correctly.
    In Dentrix, seeing nothing (or briefly seeing a hourglass and then seeing nothing) is a classic sign that either:
    - The database files are marked as Read Only
    - The program cannot access the data files (probably the folder it is pointed to does not contain any data).
    - Or possibly the database path does not point to the right location where the data files are located
    Open the folder where you installed the program files of Dentrix (probably c:\program files\dentrix\) and double-click to run EP.EXE. The database path will be revealed. You can "Browse" to the correct location, and "OK" through the dialog to
    close them. Then try opening Dentrix again.
    Should that not work, open Start | My Computer, and try to open the path (starting with the drive letter, then the folder structure you saw in EP.EXE).
    By the way, if your path uses UNC (starting with two back-slashes and then the computer name of the server), you'll need to map a network drive and replace your path with a mapped drive path. (Map a drive in Start | My Computer | Tools | Map Network
    Drive). Dentrix really doesn't like UNC paths.
    Dentrix 10.5 can only be installed on Windows XP
    Microsoft .NET 1.0
    Just FYI, Microsoft .Net Framework 1.0 is required only for the "Time Clock" feature of Dentrix. Windows 7 already has .NET Framework features up to version 3.5 built in, and Time Clock (in my experience) works great under Windows 7 without installing
    .NET 1.0.
    Have you tried installing directly in Windows 7? I have a specific reason why I don't (I have a newer version of Dentrix installed on my Win 7 machine, and use the VM to go back to an older database occasionally - so I can't mix two different program versions
    on the same machine). If you were to try installing this program under Windows 7 directly, Dentrix will launch the Microsoft .NET Framework install after the Dentrix install is completed. Just cancel out at that point (Windows will probably give you an "incompatibility"
    error message anyway before allowing the install to go through) and I believe you can run it under Windows 7. That might eliminate the networking-through-the-VM issue. So, if you have no other reason not to install Dentrix on your Windows 7 machine directly,
    I'd try it. You might be surprised and if it works, you'd save yourself some headache with connecting the to network through the virual machine.
    Is why was Dentrix not in its own folder and instead in the Startup programs after All programs?
    During the installation, on the Select Program Folder screen, you must have clicked the "Startup" option under Existing Folders. By default, "Dentrix" will be typed into the box at the top. If you simply clicked Next, it would have gone
    to the correct location. The screen is a little confusing, because something in the list will be highlighted by default, but what is typed into the box at the top will actually be used.

  • Error message while installing "FDM Web Application" on windows 64-bit

    I am unable to install "FDM Web Application" on a 64-bit windows platform. I have an error message indicating that 64-bit components for HFM & EPMA cannot co-exist with 32-bit components for HSF/FDM. Is there a way to install it? From the packages I downloaded, I have installed EPMA 64-bit. So I presume I'll have to uninstall EPMA 64-bit and re-install EPMA 32-bit?
    OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition SP2
    Oracle WebLogic 9.2 MP3 32-bit
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Andy

    Hi,
    What version are you trying to install, as the latest release 11.1.1.3 should now support it.
    In the 11.1.1.3 Readme - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/readme/epm_1111300_readme.html
    FDM now provides support for 32-bit binaries in a 64-bit environment. (though that was from version 11.1.1.1)
    Though saying that FDM can only run in IIS32bit mode, if you have installed EPMA 64bit it will have set IIS to 64 bit, so uninstall 64bit and use 32bit.
    FDM supports 64-bit servers running in 32-bit emulation mode only. Because IIS cannot run under 32-bit and 64-bit mode simultaneously on the same server, Financial Management and FDM Web components cannot be deployed on the same 64-bit server. All other components can be deployed together.
    Cheers

  • Installing Creative Cloud applications from shared windows folder.

    Hello.
    I got new laptop for work use and I am installing creative cloud on it. However laptop ain't that fast and I am wondering that would it be possible to install creative cloud applications from shared windows folder, since I have downloaded and installed all creative cloud applications on my desktop machine already and laptop is intented for working while not at home.rpr
    This would increase installing speed since all those needed files would be available from Local Area Network, which is faster and my broadband and it also would allow hard drive to focus on installing files instead of current simulataneous reading and writing to same hard drive.

  • Windows 2003 ..can't install any CS4 applications

    I use Windows 2003 as my workstation and for the past two days I've been trying to install trial CS4 applications but with no luck.
    I've been using CS3 for a long time now without issues, installs perfectly using Application Verifier. I uninstalled CS3 before attempting CS4 installation.
    I tried many things but no matter what I do it always gets to 90% on "checking system profile", then "Loading Setup" splash screen pops up for few seconds but than goes away and "checking system profile" is still there at 90% and never goes any further. I can see it using a bit of CPU and memory usage changes while it's there but it never goes any further.
    I tried uninstalling all Adobe apps, except for Lightroom as I'm a little nervous about losing things, but it didn't help. I used both CS3 and CS4 cleanup scripts. I used two different admin accounts, disabled antivirus but nothing.
    Log file doesn't show any errors as far as why the installation stops.
    I tried standalone versions of Photoshop CS4 and Dreamweaver CS4, they both show Loading Setup panel for few seconds but than setup.exe crashes. I tried faking WinXP SP2 and SP3 with application verifier but it makes no difference.
    I'm out of ideas, formatting the system is really not an option, I have too many things.
    My setup:
    OS: Win 2003 Std
    CPU: Core2Quad Q6600
    RAM: 4 GB
    HD: WD VelociRaptor
    Video: GForce 6600GT

    Actually Windows 2003 Server is not basically Windows XP on steroids and similarly, Windows 2008 Server is not basically Windows Vista on steroids. There are some significant differences between the desktop and server versions of Windows these days, especially related to security in terms of how applications are installed and what they can do. I learned about this the hard way when I tried to setup a new system with Windows 2003 Server instead of Windows XP Pro back in 2003 or so (primarily to get AppleTalk and MacOS file system compatibility services). Even then many applications and pieces of system software just wouldn't install.
    Back to Adobe, we specifically have
    not tested the CS4 suite or any of its application (other than InDesign Server 6) on any of the server versions of Windows. We don't claim compatibilty of same with CS4 in any of the system requirements. You will get any support this from Adobe Technical Support.

  • Error while loading image from Windows Phone gallery into my Unity application

    Hi,
    I have developped a Windows Phone plugin for my Unity application which enable me to open the Windows Phone gallery in order to select an image and get its physic path.
    I've used this path to load the image in the application with a WWW object but I get this error
    "Error. Operation has failed with error 0x80070005: access is denied."
    The path is correct because I display it and I've ticked the ID_CAP_MEDIALIB_PHOTO in the WMAppManifest.xml (Capabilities tab).
    Here is my Unity C# test code to load the image with the path.
    IEnumerator loadImage()
    this.guiText.text = filePath;
    WWW www = new WWW(filePath);
    yield return www;
    if(www.error == null)
    GameObject texture = GameObject.Find("UNITY");
    if(texture != null)
    texture.guiTexture.texture = www.texture;
    Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks in advance !

    The error is correct. Your app doesn't have direct access to that path. It can directly load files only from its app data and install directories.
    To load from the libraries I it needs to use the StorageFile to get brokered access.
    The easiest way may be to copy from the library to local data then use WWW to load that. Otherwise you'll probably need to wrap the StorageFile can for use in unity. Unity has such a wrapper in the Unity Engine.WSA namespace that you can try

  • Error Installing Adobe Air from Story Desktop Application Installer

    This is truly driving me nuts already.
    Every time I try to install the Desktop Application from the Story website, it says I must install Adobe Air. So I click Install, it shows the progress bar to 100%, then errors out with a window. The window header reads "Adobe AIR Installer" and the main section of the window reads "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again." - There is a Retry and Cancel. Retry does it all again with same results.
    No, I had no previous versions of Adobe Air. So I tried installing AIR direct from the Adobe website, and it installs fine. So I go back to the Story webpage and try installing the Desktop Application again and the exact same set of events as described above happens. I uninstalled the AIR install, tried again, same result.
    I had Production Premium CS3 previously, and installed Production Premium CS5 UPGRADE. All the programs in the suite work like a charm!
    I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with 208 Gig free on my C drive, as well as over 500 gig free spread out over two other drives. 8 Gig memory, and two Nvidia Qadro FX 3500 video cards (If that matters at all). Full admin rights to the PC, not limited in any way.
    A quick Google search shows plenty of other people having the same problem,  just no known fixes I've found!
    HELP!!!
